I came here on a weekday for lunch and it was easy to find meter parking on the street. The poke tasted really delicious! Between the 4 flavors my husband and I ordered, we both agreed that the shoyu ahi poke flavors tasted the best. In the photo are spicy tobiko & spicy shoyu. I would definitely order the spicy shoyu again. Seems like a lot of people order togo and will eat it on the beach picnic style. I'll probably try that next time. I was down here for the 4th celebration and decided I wanted to get a poke bowl. First off, they have two sizes regular and large. I ordered the salmon withe ponzu and jalapeños it comes with rice and some pickled cucumber slices. It was ok for the price of $17 and some change for a regular (it's basically a small carry out box) you just don't get a lot of bang for your buck. Other poke places includes a whole lot of toppings ljke imitation crab, seaweed, ginger, basically toppings free of charge. At Ry's it's the bare minimum. The salmon was fresh and the sauce was ok. Personally, this will be my only time eating here. It's just didn't deliver for me . I'm not saying the poke was bad just didn't expect the style of bowl they offer here. Been hearing a lot of hype about this place so checked it out on a Tuesday around 3pm. No line aside from just 2 girls ahead of me still looking at the menu. But they had me go ahead of them since I had an idea of what I wanted. I tried the salmon with tobiko the small size. added avocado and seaweed salad. Only one guy taking and calling orders that were ready which is why the line then started as more people came. Took about 10mins to get my order but luckily I ate there as they forgot to add the avocado I paid for. They corrected my order but the portion was small so not worth the upgrade. Stopped by Ry's Poke Shack on a Sunday around 1 PM for lunch and the place was packed. The shop itself is pretty small, so don't expect to find a table easily. There was a line out the door when we arrived, which is usually a good sign. After ordering, we found out they were serving numbers about ten orders behind ours, so we ended up waiting around 20 minutes for our food. That felt a little long considering poke doesn't require much preparation. I ordered the Mayjah Bowl, which came out to about $23. It's definitely on the pricier side, but the fish was fresh and tasted high quality. I liked that you can mix ahi and salmon or choose one protein, and they also offer tofu as an option. The spicy tobiko was nice and added a good kick. The firecracker sauce was a little too sweet for my taste, though. Ry's Poke Shack was a fantastic way to start my day! My girlfriend and I came by to grab some lunch to start our day and it was our first time trying Ry's after hearing great reviews about it. We walked in and the shop was small but felt traditional and homey with pictures of their accomplishments on the walls and a beautiful painting of a family(?) on the side. They have two sizes, a regular size (1 scoop) and Mayjah (2 scoops). It's not like one of the poke places where you build your own bowls. Here, you pick out the size you want and which combination of sauces you'd like best. I got the limited edition sauce (ghost pepper one) for my salmon and I got the Lao Style for my tuna. (you can pick a different sauce for each choice of protein!) - The ghost pepper one was spicy but the flavor packed in it was fantastic. It wasn't just spice. It was a combination of aromatic herbs, garlic, and flavor! - The Lao Style was a bit too sweet for my liking, but it mixed well with the spiciness from the ghost pepper sauce! We had a mayjah bowl (2 scoops) Ahi Tuna Shoyu Style + Salon Spicy Hawaiian Style. Can't wait to try the other styles because these were executed so well, exactly as described without overpowering the taste of the fish. Portion size is okay, what I would say is you're paying for the quality and freshness of the fish, which is worth it. I actually don't think you need that much rice for the amount of fish they serve so I think I'd get the poke by the pound next time. My one gripe and I guess suggestion is to bring/add your own avocado because they charged $1.50 for four whatever slices of avocado (hey, the bills gotta get paid somehow I guess). I was excited to find a LEGIT Hawaiian style poke spot in Orange County (since all my regular spots in SD are too far away ) and this place did not disappoint! Overall pretty good poke spot but def on the pricey side. I parked in a nearby neighborhood and walked over but there's also paid street parking nearby or you can park at the beach parking or Pacific City and walk over since it's really close to the pier. I've been twice now and both times there were lines but it moves at a pretty good pace. There's pretty limited seating inside the restaurant so we got our food to go and sat by the beach I got a large poke bowl with both ahi and salmon and liked both. Some of the salmon pieces did have some skin though which I know some people don't like. For the sauces I tried the kalikimaka fiyah and the spicy tobiko and liked the spicy tobiko more I also tried the poke nachos and liked it a lot. Yummy poke! Second location that I have tried and quality doesn't miss. The fish is fresh that isn't too oceany which is a plus. I got the Ahi with Limu and Salmon with hot shoyu. Limu has a nice shoyu (umami) flavor paired with seaweed that gives a refreshing taste. Meanwhile the hot shoyu has a nice kick and with the onion, it makes the fish even more spicy. We waited for prob an hour to hour and a half total that includes waiting in line and picking up the food which is normal for Ry's no matter what location. Ono! Sooo, Bear Flag is my usual go-to in town, but I spotted Ry's and had to try it. It's a small space with limited seating and yes, there's a line at all hours it seems at this point but this means, it's SUPER fresh given their throughput. Their poke bowls come in two sizes - regulah (1 fish options) or mayjah (2 fish options). Their fish options that day were Ahi, Salmon and Tofu (interesting!) We were pretty full so opted for the regulah, but it was difficult to pick just one. I ordered the: *ahi limu (shoyu blend, fresh ogo, inamona, onion, green onion) poke bowl with added surimi (aka KRAB) salad (+$1.95) as well as avocado (+$1.50). The flavors were perfect on the ahi limu - no fishiness just straight umami. ahi texture was also on point and at a good temperature. The only small note is that it got a little saucy and therefore too salty towards the bottom but that also might be my bad adding on the surimi krab salad, but I ate it all anyways! *My husband ordered the regulah ahi hot shoyu (Ry's hot shoyu blend, tobiko, chili flake, onion, green onion) poke bowl which he enjoyed but I honestly enjoyed limu better - which isn't always the case! We chose to get 1/2 lb of the Firecracker Ahi, Gingahchurri Salmon, and Lao Style Salmon (along with seaweed salad and crab surimi). The Firecracker salmon was the star of the show, with the sauce being just right in terms of spice level. It was nice and creamy, really delicious. The service was fast while we were at the front of the line but if you come, do expect to wait quite a while (30min+) during peak hours (e.g. lunch). The shop does not have that much seating and it can get quite busy inside so the ambiance is more fast casual. I would recommend this place for those in the area looking to get some fresh poke and don't mind a wait. read more

On a Saturday, waited 1 hour in line for poke. There were seats available for smaller groups to eat at. The varying styles of sauce they had for the salmon/ahi/tofu were so delicious! There were so many choose from but ended up getting the firecracker as one of their most popular styles. It was so good. I would definitely come back to try the other styles. read more

I came around the soft opening time so not sure how bad the wait is now. Fish quality is fresh and the dish itself is not overloaded with toppings.
