Regular size with salmon with ponzu and jalapeños
    Audrey E.

I was down here for the 4th celebration and decided I wanted to get a poke bowl. First off, they have two sizes regular and large. I ordered the salmon withe ponzu and jalapeños it comes with rice and some pickled cucumber slices. It was ok for the price of $17 and some change for a regular (it's basically a small carry out box) you just don't get a lot of bang for your buck. Other poke places includes a whole lot of toppings ljke imitation crab, seaweed, ginger, basically toppings free of charge. At Ry's it's the bare minimum. The salmon was fresh and the sauce was ok. Personally, this will be my only time eating here. It's just didn't deliver for me . I'm not saying the poke was bad just didn't expect the style of bowl they offer here. But to each their own, definitely try it if you are in HB. Service was great , friendly and helpful staff. Ambiance is good, small location with a few tables and some stools by the window to eat inside.

Ahi tuna 2 scoop Hot shoyu style and firecracker style

    - friendly staff - small seating area, it was pretty crowded on a Friday afternoon 1. 2 scoop rice bowl with Ahi Tuna (hot shoyu and firecracker styles) 4.5/5 - poke was so fresh and flavorful, firecracker style was my favorite - cucumber was refreshing, its sauce added nice hints of acidity to the bowl - rice could've been a little softer, felt a tad dry (just my preference!)

Been hearing a lot of hype about this place so checked it out on a Tuesday around 3pm. No line aside from just 2 girls ahead of me still looking at the menu. But they had me go ahead of them since I had an idea of what I wanted. I tried the salmon with tobiko the small size. added avocado and seaweed salad. Only one guy taking and calling orders that were ready which is why the line then started as more people came. Took about 10mins to get my order but luckily I ate there as they forgot to add the avocado I paid for. They corrected my order but the portion was small so not worth the upgrade. Poke was tasty and salad well seasoned. I understand why people enjoy as it's a simple menu and fish was fresh. I would come back and try other items as long as I don't have to wait in line.

Came right when they opened on Saturday and waited about 1.5 hrs to order. There's a parking structure right across the street that is free parking under 90 minutes! Got the ponzu chili crunch and limu. I loved the ponzu, it had great flavor and crunchy texture! The portions were very generous too. I also enjoyed that they pickled their cucumber.

Decided on a whim to stop by after spending our morning down at the beach. We liked the quality of the fish, and the portion sizes were generous. We particularly liked that the food was made to order and not sitting out. The location is very small, and it felt like everybody in line hadn't ordered at a restaurant before, so it was a bit slow and overstimulating. The employees are kind, helpful, and quick! We really enjoyed it, and could see ourselves coming back. Parking can be difficult, so give yourself time.

Stopped by Ry's Poke Shack on a Sunday around 1 PM for lunch and the place was packed. The shop itself is pretty small, so don't expect to find a table easily. There was a line out the door when we arrived, which is usually a good sign. After ordering, we found out they were serving numbers about ten orders behind ours, so we ended up waiting around 20 minutes for our food. That felt a little long considering poke doesn't require much preparation. I ordered the Mayjah Bowl, which came out to about $23. It's definitely on the pricier side, but the fish was fresh and tasted high quality. I liked that you can mix ahi and salmon or choose one protein, and they also offer tofu as an option. The spicy tobiko was nice and added a good kick. The firecracker sauce was a little too sweet for my taste, though. The biggest downside was the rice, which was a bit hard and could have been cooked better. That said, the fish quality was solid and clearly the highlight of the bowl. Overall, this is a good poke spot with fresh fish, but between the long wait, limited seating, and higher price point, it's probably not somewhere I'd go out of my way for. Still, it's a solid option if you're in the area and craving poke.

Ry's has been on my bucket list for some time now and recently got to give it a try. Just a heads up that it's very busy. My friend and I were able to get a table, but there are very few tables inside, so you'll probably have to get your orders to-go and eat somewhere else. I like that you can layer on multiple styles here. I ended up getting a spicy tobiko mayjah poke bowl with salmon and tuna and added cucumber salad. Overall it was good but I wasn't the most impressed. I was expecting the quality of the fish to be more fresh. The wait time and price didn't match the taste so I don't think it was worth it for me, but I can see why others enjoy this place!

    Poke Nachos

Came here around 4pm on a Saturday, and there was thankfully no line despite what we heard. There is a parking lot nearby with free 90 minute parking that we like to use for the beach too. The menu can be overwhelming with all of the different flavors, but we opted to try the poke nachos and 1/2 pound to share. We had the MAYJAH size for the nachos, allowing us two scoops (salmon and ahi tuna!). In general, we tried the Lao flavor, Firecracker, and Hot Shoyu, but I think the Hot Shoyu stood out the most. It does taste fresh; I think this portion was enough to share among two people. Just note with the nachos that they may get soggy the longer that you wait. Would come back to enjoy by the beach, but just know it's a bit pricey!

New place on HB! Expect a line and be prepared to wait time for them to prepare your food. Small place with 5 small tables and a few bar stools. The poke tasted fresh and good. It reminds me of Foodland in Hawaii. You can make your own or pick from different options. There is a parking garage right across the street making it convenient to park (first 90 minutes is free). The staff is very nice and friendly. Good customer service.

Their poke nachoes is deliciousss, it's poke on fried corn tortilla chips, loaded with crab salad and cucumber namasu, then drizzled with spicy mayo, unagi sauce, and furikake. Enjoy it while the chips are still crispy. The poke and chip combo is so so good. At Ry's Poke Shack, you can choose between poke bowl, poke salad, or poke nacho. Or order by the pound. They have a lot of poke styles to choose from. The lao style was very interesting but my fave would have to be the firecracker. Based off the length of the line, I didn't expect that the wait would be so long. It feels like a lot of customers don't look at the menu while waiting in line, so they take their sweet time ordering when they finally get to the front, slowing down the entire process. The wait for the food was also a little long, so I would knock a rating off for that. I waited maybe an hour for about 20 people in line. If there was no wait, I'd strongly recommend stopping by and trying, but the wait definitely deters me a bit.

    Lao-style Salmon and Firecracker Tuna
    Airi G.

I've seen a lot of TikTok hype about this place and we were finally close enough to visit. We went on a Friday at noon and there was a small line already forming at the door. The ordering process was quick but it took around 20 minutes for the food to be ready. I asked the worker for his recommendation since it was my first time and I ended up with the Lao-style salmon and firecracker tuna. I appreciate the unique variety of flavors they offer and the varying spice levels. I kept going back for the Lao-style since the fish sauce and Thai chili combo was so addicting. The fish were both fresh but I wouldn't say it's the best poké I've ever had. Considering the hefty price point for the amount. I wouldn't come running back but I'd still be interested in trying the rest of their flavors. There are a few tables inside with more seating along the window but it's pretty cramped and most people were taking it to-go.

Got here at 11:10AM on Saturday morning, was 2nd in line. Service was quick and place is small, so try to be early in line if you'd like to dine in! Fish was delicious! But if you're here for fish with rice, I would pass - my friend got the poke bowl and the rice was not fresh/warm :( I got the poke salad and the mixed greens with their dressing was nice. Next time I would try and order fish by the half lb and grab some seaweed salad on the side

Tsunami poke nachos w firecracker flavor
    Stephanie K.

Tried this spot for the first time and ordered the Tsunami poke nachos with one scoop of the firecracker flavor. The chips were a pleasant surprise, they weren't typical nacho chips but fried wonton chips shaped like them, which tasted great. That said, they did get a bit heavy after a while since they're fried. The poke itself tasted fresh, but I probably wouldn't choose the firecracker flavor again. I sampled my friend's shoyu ahi tuna, and that was really delicious. Service was fast and friendly. The ambiance is small with limited indoor seating, and parking can be tricky--you'll likely need to look around the neighborhood, though we lucked out and found a spot during lunch.

I have never met a server, a bartender, a cook that didnt go the extra mile for us! The owner herself is no different! They all are so fabulous! This past week we had Paul and his team of coworkers, Gabriel at the bar and I cant praise them enough! A really long, stressful month thus far resulted in needing a night out. A family member was finally back in town and we decided to meet at Matsu. While Amy was off, we were treated just as fabulously by Paul and team. Gabriel at the bar made excellent cocktails! Everything from our fresh nigiri to our teppan combo was delicious and fresh and nicely sized portions. I can go on and on, but if you want a darker, cool chill vibe, do the bar area. If you want teppan theatrics and fun, reserve the teppan. If you want a larger party restaurant atmosphere. They have that too! Its clean, its nice, its delicious!!! My favorite is the Lychee martini, my friends love the apple martinis, but I'll say, you can even just drink an iced water and you're still gonna love this place! Give it a try, you won't regret it! This is the type of business and employees I have zero problems supporting and recommending! Thank you for another great night Matsu!

They do this near the end of the month on Mondays. Unfortunately, this is their 3rd to last event as they're going to be doing some restructuring. The staff was very nice and accommodating. It's definitely tougher than it looks. I always thought it would be easy to cut like butter, but definitely takes a lot of strength and skill. There were other tasty tuna dishes like the miso soup, salad and crispy tuna steak. I recommend sitting at the bar so you can see Chef Yamasaki cut the fish in the front row seats. It was cool to taste the varying levels of fatness of the fish. The super chutoro was practically butter. They also offered tuna to go at $50/lb. Definitely worth it. The venue is their regular restaurant but with more tables in the middle. A little loud but definitely a fun time. There were 3 birthdays too! I'm not sure if they were understaffed, but the service was so slow that by the end we were exhausted and didn't even want to finish the meal. We also mentioned that my friend has a shellfish allergy, but a crab hand roll was still brought out.
