The pasta had an odd flavor that could not be determined. The Oak roast chicken was cooked so long it was mummified and the skin looked like it was stored in an Egyptian Sarcophagus! Very disappointing for a destination restaurant. read more

Absolutely delicious meal. Beet salad was perfect. Chicken dish was amazing. Wild mushroom pasta - great Chocolate gelato and a pana cotta was our desserts. Friendly service too. read more

Food was good, service was not. One of the waiters was holding his toddler over the food station until his girlfriend's takeout order was ready. It was our anniversary and were seated at a table where we could not hear each other. Three couples came after us and were finished eating before we received our cold truffle pizza. We left without being served our complimentary anniversary dessert. We were so disappointed, we will not return even though we loved their truffle pizza before this experience. read more

Each time we visit Santa Barbara we always look forward to our meals at S.Y. Kitchen. Last week we dined there twice, 2 nights in a row. John was on duty both nights and made sure we had what we needed along with lively conversations. He and his staff are excellent at their jobs and made our evenings even more fun. The food is just amazing as is the presentation, atmosphere of casual elegance and the general vibe. You are in for a treat when dining there. Can't wait to return!! Thank you John and all!!! I'd add some photos if I can figure out how. read more

We love to stay at the Santa Ynez (during the week, when the prices are not AS exorbitant), taste local wine and eat at local restaurants. SY Kitchen has really upped the game. Highly recommend! Super busy on the weekends but a perfect end to celebrate friends after a whole day of wine tasting! All food and drinks are incredible!!! (that my fiance and I ordered) truffle pizza = 5 stars smoked old ashioned = 5 stars mai tai = 5 stars pasta my friend ordered.. first had no sauce but then they re-sauced - eh = 3 stars the other pasta = 3 stars the dessert! = TO DIE FOR!!! Pistachio creme brulee = 5 stars the affogato = off the charts!! the server did get me information on the coffee.. unforunately it was getting late and dark and did not write it down... can someone message me the coffee and where to buy it by messaging me?? (service was so so, some were a not friendly (host and manager who sat us), however our server and my friends that we dined with changed my first and last impression.... I would have given a 5 star to the over all restuarant.. however unfriendliness from anyone does not go unnoticed.... :/ other than that I would still recommend maybe on a less busy night) read more

If I was to say, "I love this place", it would be an understatement. IT has it all, ambiance, great, and I mean great food, lovely wait staff, tremendous, appeal. There are more ways to describe this place. All in all, I am happy that I was able to get a chance to get here, and share with some great peeps! Now, the food, Pasta and venison, muah!! D'licious. Lamb, now I'm an Apex Predator, and I like to chase my food, but this Lamb, fell off the bone, just by looking at it. The taste as it hits your tongue, man, like the happiest punch to the taste buds. Filet Mignon, A slice melted like butter in your mouth. This place calmed the animal side of us! P.S. The Viking in the photos was fed well that night! read more

We happen to come back for dinner. Since the third time food has been amazing. Can't go wrong. We sat at the bar and Marcial was our bartender and have to say he is very detailed with his drinks and they are very delicious. I had the Halibut for dinner and they accommodated the vegi with pasta that I wanted both combo was amazing taste. I will be back soon. Thanks for the great service read more

Definitely on the more expensive end of food you can get in the Santa Ynez valley. However this farm to table experience boasts one of the most eclectic menus I have seen on the central coast. Every time I come here the menu looks drastically different, and the Italian pasta dishes here really have an surreal level of authenticity. I'm also quite fond of the dessert menu here. The panna cotta here was delightful with fresh locally sourced berries from the nearby region of happy canyon. The decor of the restaurant is also incredibly warm and inviting. If $$$ isn't a factor definitely check out SY kitchen for your next special event! read more

The food was delicious - exceptional even. What stood out most, however, was the extraordinary service. Matthew as well as the staff, were attentive and friendly. Matthew was diligent, ensuring every detail was taken care of with professionalism and warmth. The ambience was inviting and nicely set up. It made for a comfortable and enjoyable dining atmosphere. read more

We went here for my sister's birthday on a Saturday evening with reservations. We were seated on the patio and our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable. I ordered the Caesar salad and it was yummy, but too much cheese inside. My parents both ordered the salmon, which my mom said was mushy and the tomatoes were an interesting choice for the plate with the asparagus. One of my sisters orders the soup as an app and the meatballs as her entree. They brought the meatballs first by accident and it took a very long time for the soup to come, and the rest of us had our food. When she finished the soup, the meatballs were brought, but they were not hot. As it got darker, we asked for our table candles to bit lit, since all the other table ones were and we had to ask three times. The prices are hefty for what you get, but the place was clean and had a nice atmosphere. read more

What a hidden gem! Decided to stop in on a whim on a Saturday for lunch. Didn't have a reservation but was gladly seated in one of the dining areas towards the back. The atmosphere was classy yet cozy and had such a warm inviting feeling. The staff were great...from the manager/hostess to the bus boys and waiters everyone was so friendly and very efficient. You can reply that they all take pride in their customer service! Onto the food/cocktails : we started with their fresh bread appetizer and meatballs and then we shared the sliders. Wow just wow! Everything tasted amazing and served perfectly. The waiter made sure to ask if we were ok with the food coming out one at a time because the kitchen was slammed...but somehow it worked! Our drinks were also nice and refreshing. I had the Jungle which was so yummy! Definitely a treat! Can't wait to return... read more

Great experience with food and service, I would come back again. Matthew was very attentive to us, took time to read out the daily specials, and answer questions we have about the entrées. Even offered to take a picture for us and let us know which menu items had pasteurized cheese since my wife was pregnant. The black truffle pizza was absolutely delicious and full of aromatic black truffle. They did not skip out on the shavings and the flavor was out of this world. I loved this place and will stop by again if we're ever in town nearby Solvang. read more

Amazing food and staff! I believe it was the owner that came over and greeted our birthday girl by name and personally wished her a happy birthday and then at the end convinced her to get a dessert! The pasta is all homemade with the mushroom pasta being my favorite! The dark chocolate gelato was so rich and dense and served with a crispy sugar topped banana. What a pairing! Yum! But our absolute favorites were the focaccia bread served warm and the pair salad with arugula and pomegranate!!! I will dream about that salad for weeks! read more

Food was great.... Service was not. We booked an 8:00pm reservation and arrived on time, yet were not seated until 8:25pm. From the time we were seated, we did not receive our food until an hour later. Only 5/6 received their food, and when it was noted that there was a missing plate, we were asked to share the plate since another person had ordered the same item. After dropping off the food, we had to remind them that we were still missing a plate. The missing plate did not come out for another 15 minutes. The tables surrounding us were checked on repeatedly and were given updates about delayed food and we were not. We are also all women of color. I had a friend visiting from out of the country who was excited for this experience, and they were left extremely unsatisfied with the service. I have been to this restaurant with large groups of people and have never experienced this before. read more

If I could only give 10 stars! From the service to the food and price this place is a dream! The food is spectacular! The food here was excellent. We had the oven roasted olives, octopus salad, mushroom pasta and one of their daily specials, truffle pizza. We loved the octopus salad. Octopus was super tender, and I loved the variety of veggies with the octopus. Mushroom pasta was SO GOOD. Truffle pizza was probably the most expensive pizza I've ever had ($45), but if you're a fan of truffle, well worth it. Service was friendly, but very rushed. It seemed like our waiter was in a hurry all the time with us, but he would spend a long time chatting at other tables. Maybe they were regulars? He also split our dish when we didn't ask for the dish to be split (and charge us a split fee). I just thought that was kind of odd. I would definitely come back for the food. The restaurant was pretty full on a Monday night, so I'd recommend reservations. If you're staying at Santa Ynez Inn, it is a block away, so nice little walk from the hotel. Enjoy! read more

Food is consistently amazing. I don't know why Michelin hasn't discovered this place. Good for me, as reservation is relatively easy to make at this stage. I've tried many Italian restaurants, from Capo and Georgio Baldi in LA to Babbo, Marea in NYC, and this place stands on par and even above when it comes to the parpadelle mushroom pasta. Perfectly cooked pasta every time and again absolutely delicious. Absolute bomb! read more

It was a delicious dinner in a low-key, chill setting with attentive staff. Dishes that highlight freshness of the ingredients, just clean with distinct flavors. Finished off with chocolate gelato and Tahitian vanilla penna cotta-both were spoon-licking good. read more

Another one of those hidden gems in the wine country. And also, thanks to Yelp for all the great reviews and pictures that caught our eyes. We came for a couple of wine tasting to celebrate a graduation and of course dinner was on the menu. Our reservation was pretty much after the wineries which was perfect. Heckling in was easy breezy. The restaurant was well maintain and beautifully laid out. Believe it was a house converted to a restaurant. We were seated in the covered patio area. Strung lights were above for the al fresco dining experience. Our waitress, Ashlyn was great. Honestly, we were so hungry that we didn't even mange to look at the specials. She went through everything and of course everything sounded amazing. Drinks menu was great as well. The cocktails also did the spot which was great. As well as ordering the specials, we also went crazy with what was on the menu. Once everything came out, there was nothing left on each plate as it was all worth every last bite. The food was great, full of flavor. Service was great as well. Can't believe we didn't find this place sooner. Will totally be returning. read more

Yellow beet salad- cut like pasta... yum! 5. Asparagus soup.. creamy 6. Wild mushroom pappardeli - delightful 7. Pesto spaghetti - too much pesto sauce 8.T-bone truffle sliders - perfect The quality of food was fresh and tasty. My mouth is watering just writing this review. read more

Great date dinner find! We had 545Pm reservations. Everything we had was 5 stars! We were kind of full from lunch still so we split an early dinner meal. For the appetizer we got the artichoke plate with garlic aioli sauce, super yummy and light . We split the rib eye steak with golden potatoes topped with tasty mushrooms. Super amazing and favorable. We ended the night with chocolate and vanilla gelato with crumbled brown sugar graham cracker sprinkles paired with caramelized banana slices and berries. It was so yummy and just right. We haven't had gelato in a very long time and just to let you know when ordering one scoop of chocolate gelato or other flavor you get two scoops of the same flavor which I didn't know (glad I asked ) That is why we got one of each and it was the perfect duo. Keep in mind it's not on the menu (where you can choose one scoop of each) you have to ask. Lastly, our server Rachel had a top notch personality and she was so helpful and kind. Wish there were more servers like her ! We will be definitely coming back in the future! read more

I absolutely loved this place! Our waiter, Victoria, was so kind and willing to give us suggestions on places to enjoy a sunset that evening. We came her after receiving suggestions from two people at a nearby vineyard. We snagged an early reservation before 5, just hours before. Everything was amazing. The Pasta, the chicken, the branzino were all done well in their own way. We actually had the chicken for leftovers the next day and it was even better . On drinks: the #1110 and the smoked old fashion were so great--so whether you like darker or lighter alcohol, they've got you covered. The delivery of the smoked old fashioned is so fun and it was very easy to drink. Can't wait to come back! read more

We dined outside at a very comfortable booth with ample heating. We ordered the butternut soup, which was creamy and delicious; the bread, which was a wonderful flatbread served with a spicy side of Calabrian chili; a fantastic red beet salad, which had avocado and pistachios and a wonderful orange vinaigrette; and the pièce résistance, was the wild mushroom papperadelle, which was simply delicious! As amazing as the food was, our server, Matthew, was a beacon during our dinner. He's someone who truly loves food and authentically loves SY Kitchen's food. 4-5 star location in Santa Ynez. Don't plan on coming here unless you have reservations, this place is very popular. We came out here for a friend's birthday & this is their favorite spot. The sliders got hyped up by our friends so I ordered them & they pretty much lived up to it. Our favorite things we tried were the sliders & a cilantro margarita~ both top notch. I thought the pizza I ordered was just ok. I also got a chance to sample my friends pasta dish & my other friends steak~ both were delicious. The place is low lit with indoor and outdoor seating. It'll cost you a few bucks to come here but I can see why this is such a popular place. We waited for quite sometime to get our food but ultimately it was worth the wait. Next time I'm out in the area I certainly wouldn't mind revisiting. Such a beautiful area, very recommended!! Happy eating! read more
