What an absolute GEM in the Stone Oak area!! The owners are so kind and wonderful to talk to. I tried the shrimp ceviche, large fruit cup and a mangonada which they split into smaller cups so my girls could try it. Everything I tried was fresh and delicious! I had enough shrimp ceviche to take home and have a second portion the next day. I also arrived on a customer appreciation day where they hired mariachis to perform. Just looking for a quick lunch off the freeway as we were driving up towards Canyon Lake and KABOOM! This darling place popped up on Google maps. Easy on, easy off the freeway and...... the BEST tacos I've ever had. The Baja shrimp tacos were fresh tasting and delicious served with a yummy avcocado/cilantro/lime sauce. The Queso Birria taco with its complex, smokey flavors was a favorite. Eat outside at the bright tables with shade or inside. Family run and owned by the sunny Cecelia and her husband. I was across the parking lot at another business, and I was pleased to see this nearby. I had no idea where this was located and I kept seeing reviews for the food. Now I finally had a chance to try it myself. This brightly colored business was calling my name. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted by the friendliest waitress ever. She walked me through the menu of enticing options and even let me know about the taco combo. That includes 3 tacos and a canned drink. So you get to try different options. I got one queso birria, one asada, and one cheesey asada. I got the avocado sauce on the side since I'm unsure if I would like it. I also got the cucumber lemonade aqua fresca. I got home and dug in. The tacos were filled nicely and the avocado sauce is really good. I don't normally like avocado but I put the sauce on every taco. The birria consomme was a delicious addition to the taco. I think I would have liked my asada a little less well done. This is my personal preference only. I probably would try the fajita cut more. Overall the food was good and I look forward to coming back. The menu has something for everyone and the price-to-portion ratio is a good value. The cucumber lemonade was delicious and so refreshing. This place is excellent! I went with the Birria quesadilla on a corn tortilla. It was the small option and I can't imagine the big flower tortilla! The flavor was incredible and the sour cream and guacamole on the side was great for dipping. To top that off the staff were helpful and very conversational. I did not research before I visited. Boy was I surprised. When I walked in I immediately got the impression that this was a California theme/ambiance. I read through the menu and it fit the mood. All the tacos and plates are all what I would find on the west coast. I did not find anything on the menu, so I asked "How bout 2 bean and cheese tacos?" They told me they do not serve that but they offered me "beans and rice w/onion and cilantro". I have to say it was pretty good. I can't say enough about SA Carlitos Way! My husband, boys and I came for dinner. We got there around 7:30. They close at eight and I was so afraid we were going to be met with irritation since it was so close to closing. Boy was I wrong! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. The woman at the register, who Im thinking is the owner, was so patient with us and explained everything on the menu and made great suggestions! My husband told her that my youngest son has a shellfish allergy so she went to the kitchen to make sure that the griddle was clean and there had not been any shrimp cooked where our food was going to be prepared. We got the queso birria and asado tacos and a burrito. Everything was so delicious! The birria and asado meat was so tender and shredded perfectly. The consome was so flavorful and served warm. Perfect amount of cheese and the tortillas were toasted perfectly. The outdoor seating area was so cute. It's very colorful and they also have yard games and great music. Very fun little shop. The staff were super friendly and brought our order very quickly. I had possibly the best magonada ever with shrimp cerviche. It had cucumbers, which I've never had before in this dish, but I was pleasantly surprised. My husband and son had quesadillas and asada tacos, which perfect for a quick snack. This guy with his homemade green salsa. I could not get enough! Portions are for sharing, if you dare! I mean don't touch my green salsa, but I'll steal yours! You can't miss this little fiesta from the street. Very colorful, super inviting, very homely vibes with a welcoming wacky wavy. It was a sensory overload. So much to take in. Loved it! I have zero gripes. Just an fyi.. I did notice there are no chicken options though. No worries those shrimp tacos are next on my list to try!
