I stopped by on a Sunday evening for some halal goat. The place was not too busy. There were still many large orders. Prices were the cheapest I have seen in Bay Area. They had goat, beef, chicken and salmon. Even for salmon the price was cheapest, though I didn't get it. Goat was fresh. At $10.99/lb, cannot get better than that. I also went for a whole red rooster which was $20. They cleaned and cut it for me. That was a real big bird. They had some drinks in the front - coconut water, hibiscus and orange juice. Oranje juice was good. There was milk, egg, fruits, vegetables etc. Saba Live in CT used to be my favorite butcher. I am happy to see that the same family runs the shop here. There is a bigger Saba Live in Oakland. Next I will try how that one is. read more

Love this place! Cashier is always super friendly and it's so funny hearing her speak Cantonese to the customers, she is the sweetest! Mondays and Tuesdays are buy 5 get 1 free and their eggs are a great value and I believe best quality at the moment. Their groceries are also reasonably priced. The only thing is that parking sucks! They expanded their store so it's more spacious which feels better than the old cramped next door store front. read more

We ordered 2 pigeons and they gave us extremely little ones (we question if it's pigeon or if its quail). We complained and they said "there will be bigger ones next week." We just couldn't take it and they finally brought out one that's looks like a pigeon. This probably means they have pigeons but didn't want to sell it to us. One pigeon is $14 and one quail is $5. Never had this problem, seems they just passed off bad chickens that no one wanted. Took advantage of my parents who don't speak English. read more

They sell diseased chickens. Mareks. Wounds. Kidney function. Have a good meal...or don't buy diseased chickens. Free range is an option. I put one down humanley today that we were raising properly to eat later. Found out she was totally unhealthy Have a good diseased meal if you buy chickens from here. read more

All the workers was terrible not honest. I ordered a rooster $17. The worker gave me a red hen, then I told the cashier I wanted a rooster , the cashier told the worker with his own language and the worker gave me a smaller hen, I told the cashier again , finally they told me they went out of rooster. The chicken are very fresh. I bought buy 5 chicken get 1 free. They will even cut your chicken for u if need small pieces.

I bought 6 in total - 3 black Silkie chickens and 3 red hens. I watched the chickens being prepared in the back while I waited. The owner Leo was very helpful! Learned they opened about 3 months ago. Went home to make soup with the black Silkie chicken and divided the other hens with friends - such a great deal and extremely delicious. We are new fans! read more

I had a very good experience with Saba Live Poultry in SF last week. I've raised a small backyard flock and ended up with some accident roosters that weren't good for breeding and weren't worth much to sell since mixed breeds and pretty mean creatures so Saba really helped me out. I was too soft to butcher myself having raised them from day old chicks, but they were aggressive and had to go! Saba was hard to reach on the phone calling a couple days, but when answered were really nice and offered a discount since I had 4 roosters to 'process.' I brought them in a box and they took them right back and let me choose how to cut the meat. I got the gizzards, livers, and cut meat into 1/8ths. 1 rooster was supposed to be left whole to roast and they accidentally cut him up so I got in line to buy one of theirs since we had roasted chicken dinner already set up, but he admitted their mistake and gave me the whole Red Hen free. Very kind service and the people were very nice since I was noticeably squeamish with my roos. They were processed, bagged, and I was on my way home very fast. It's kind of a rough neighborhood with trash and homeless people so bring some pepper spray and go in daylight, but that's kind of everywhere in SF these days so I'll definitely be coming again. read more

Service need to Improve. The cashier is not doing the job right. After I order 4 chickens this morning and want to buy some chicken feet. They only have 2 packs in the freezer so I ask one of the lady about it and tell her o want to buy more. What the answer I get from her is keep on telling me to go to the freezer. Even I explain to her that they don't have enough there for me to pick up. After that. The gentleman -- cashier-- I know afterward. Is giving me a hard time. I don't mean to complain but please be considered the service. I speak fully English. They just need to IMO the customer service even today. Wednesday is not busy at all for them. read more

The taste is the same that I purchase from Asian market that I frequently go but I will prefer to get chickens from this place specially with deal buy 5 and get 1 you save money. Very Good chicken but little expensive than supermarket. Also chickens are small for the price you pay . I will still buy because it's very tasty no matter how you cook. It's good to make curry Indian style but not much for baking . read more
