Delicious food and wonderful service!! Came here after a North shore hike, and enjoyed the chicken noodle soup (not pictured) with an amazing garlic bread side. Then for my platter, I chose the lamb and beef kebabs. It came with the classic saffron rice and grilled tomato. The rice was perfectly cooked and the crispy bits were yummy. I enjoyed the beef more than the lamb, but both were good. I found the beef to be more tender than the lamb. Service was friendly and thoughtful! read more

Everytime we go to north van and have no idea what to eat we will always end up in saboo. Today we decided to try their pasta food it's a little expensive but it's loaded with chicken and cheese. I wish they toast the bread a little more or use some premium thicker toast, but overall it's very delicious. And their koobideh never disappoints! read more

I was excited to see this new restaurant open up near my work as I love persian food/ kebabs! Ordered online, quick pick up and pleased as punch with high quality fresh tasty food! The space is all renovated, new and nice looking. The serving sizes are generous, I will have a dinner leftover after my lunch which is perfect for me. Plenty of protein, chicken was tender nice cuts. My co-worker got the alfredo pasta and had a large portion and was happy with their food too. I will definitely be back a lot, this place is doing great food! read more

This is the second time we have stopped by Saboo (first being some time back last year in August.) We stumbled upon this restaurant, which was located near our AirBnB. We didn't know what to expect other than it served Persian/Iranian and Italian food. Wow, what an incredible experience. The owners were so kind, friendly and patient with our questions, the flavor of the Persian/Iranian food was DELICIOUS, and the overall ambiance was the perfect place for our party of 4-5. This is now our go to stop when we visit Canada! It is also nice there's parking in the back making the stop that much more convenient. This is one of those diamonds in the rough (it seems to be nestled in an industrial zone.) Despite this, it's worth coming here to try this place out! We will certainly be recommending this place to our friends from the States! read more

To sum up this lengthy review in a single sentence: Saboo is a hidden gem run by a husband and wife team who are gems themselves. My folks and I are wrapping up a trip to Vancouver from Austin, Texas; we had dinner at this restaurant last night and were deeply impressed in a number of respects. First, the food. We all had the kabob vaziri (pictured here--one skewer of ground beef, one skewer of boneless chicken) with bottles of doogh (a sour yogurt drink). Everything was first-rate. The ground beef was meaty and flavorful; the chicken was tender and luscious. The doogh is local and some of the most delicious I've ever had, possibly second only to the homemade variety served at the legendary Raffi's Place in Glendale, California. The serving of rice, crowned with a golden crust of tahdig, seems like a deceptively small portion at first, but spread it out and you'll be pleasantly surprised to find that it fills up half the plate--a thin, elliptical plate which is itself uniquely tasteful and well-suited to the cuisine. Even the arrangement of the food was superb; it was laid out with such outstanding artistic presentation that I had to overcome my initial reluctance to ruin it. Second, the atmosphere. It's elegant but approachable and even cozy, complemented with a continuous mix of Persian music playing through the ceiling speakers at a moderate, unobtrusive volume. The space isn't huge, but still far from cramped and dingy. The lighting is invitingly low, but not overly dark. It's a great vibe all around. One thing to be aware of: parking is a bit of a challenge. There are no spaces for it outside their storefront, which adjoins a busy street. You have to go to the other side of the block and either park along that street or in the rear lot, which is fairly small. Lastly, the owners. These people are deeply committed to using only quality ingredients and providing the best service possible. They take a refreshingly considerate "golden rule" approach to their cooking, always putting themselves in the position of the customer and serving him or her only food that they themselves would want to eat. Certain items on the menu may strike some as just a bit expensive, but given the generous portions and high quality of the food, I'd say pretty much everything is priced fairly and proportionately. The exquisiteness of the food is obviously rooted in the sterling characters of the owners. Each dish they prepare is its own carefully crafted labor of love. We had a long and delightful conversation with them after finishing our meal, and were moved to hear how intensely devoted they were to starting this business and what great pains they took over the course of the COVID pandemic to finally get it up and running. They belong to a rare breed of people who cherish values that are timeless but lamentably vanishing--dedication, humility, respect, and profound integrity, to name just a few. I don't think anyone should wonder *if* Saboo will make it big, but *when.* It has only been in business for three months, but from where I was sitting last night, it seemed they were well on their way to success. Do yourself a favor and contribute to that success by becoming patrons of this establishment, whose food is every bit as fine as its owners. You will *not* be disappointed. read more

My family visited from Seattle, looking for ethnic food and gave Saboo a try. HIGHLY recommend! Three of us ordered Persian kebabs (lamb, chicken, and beef) and two of us ordered zucchini hazelnut pesto pasta. The meat was tender and well-seasoned and the pasta was creamy and zucchini was thinly sliced and covered in cheese. We went on the night of the fireworks competition so it was quieter than usual which led to us having a personalized dining experience, waited on by the owner. She definitely had a passion for her restaurant and while we deliberated on what to get, she showed us pictures of each entree and explained the entree features so we could make up our mind, including how the spices worked together. The dishes were beautifully presented and the individual aspects of each meal complimented the others. We finished our meal fully sated and with leftovers! Yet, we still managed to make room for pistachio ice cream, served with a rose on top, which was truly exquisite, with a hint of rose that complimented the pistachio. We are looking forward to trying the baklava soon! Our only wish is that Saboo was closer to Seattle! read more

Just stopped by Saboo restaurant, close to the second narrows bridge. I'm amazed by the quality and taste of the food! I was skeptical about an Italian and Persian food in the same place but ended up to be perfect! My husband ordered a meat lasagna and I ordered beef with rice. Both was absolutely amazing! The ambient is also very cozy and with good taste! Absolutely recommend! They have parking at the back and accept orders through skip the dishes and Uber eats. I'll be back soon for sure! read more

I love to try new places and restaurants and once a while I try to find new Irani one! The 5stars reviews assigned to Saboo and its beautiful name was enough to tempt me to go there, in entrance we found the ambience reasonable and then since they spoke Farsi and from Iran we decided to go with Iranian foods and I guess we were lucky not to choice the Italian! We also ordered a lentil soup which was pretty fresh and reasonable taste for me to continue but since it has a specific type of spices which named zireh and it is not favourite of everyone so my guest stopped in the start. The waitress come and asked if something wrong and while I mentioned to the cause she asked to pack it and while I denying she insisted and then she brought it packed! Then the main dishes were served Chanjeh kabab for me and Joujeh kebab for her which had a nice presentation on plate but when I started to chanjeh I noticed naughty smell and then slimy and low quality textures and taste but I tried not to complain and pretended as I am ok not to destroy my guest feeling, but then I felt she plays with her joujeh and asked to taste hers, and I noticed it is even worse! both food ingredients were very bad taste with slimy texture and smell. We stopped continuing and I went to pay and the waitress insisted to change the food since she noticed we didn't like them! but the quality we tried was enough bad to spoil our appetite to accept for second chance! To be honest the first was the last! We were lucky not to ordered Italian foods since when an Irani makes Irani foods in this way see how it can do with other countries!! I should admit it was my big mistake to take my guest to a place with no early experience! Never invite friends to a place if you don't know about there and never trust to all 5 stars! I should bring another important points to your attention: 1- there are places you could give yourself second or third chance, but for this place my first try was last try since the taste and quality was very poor! 2- the waitress was polite and it was only good thing about Saboo! 3- this place is a shame for me as an Iranian origin as I see how they provide a cheep low quality food without respect to their customers by putting Iranian/Persian title on their name. 4- with almost 78$ you can go to good restaurants even KEG steakhouse and try the best ambient with high quality foods and 100 times better customer service. 5- I am wondering how and where these five stars comes from for Saboo 6- never recommended.r read more

What a great place to eat. I work down the street and i came here at least once a week for lunch. The owners are fantastic and very kind. The food is just the best...excellent persian and italian dishes made with love and the best ingredients. The couple are both chefs so the bring alot to this place. I come here to escape work and to have an hour to relax and have a good meal with good people. I love the big blue booths and the large windows and the clean surroundings and bathrooms. They have parking in the back. Definitely order the safron tea, any of teh persian dishes or the great pizzas! read more
