Probably one of the best Peruvian places I've tried in southern California. This is a small family owned restaurant in the corner of a small plaza. When we arrived, we were greeted by our nice lady who started us off with waters. She may have been the owner. She was friendly and helped us with our orders as it was our first time at the restaurant. For a party of 4 we ordered: Ceviche Mixto - 10/10 best Peruvian ceviche I've had. And it was full of a variety of seafood - octopus, fish, shrimp, squid. The sauce was perfect. My only complaint is that I wish I had more. Lomo Saltado with noodles - 10/10 This wasn't my order but I wish it was. It was perfectly seasoned and the meat was tender and juicy Tallarin Verde Con Pollo - 9/10 only because the lomo saltado was so good and I wish that it was my order. The chicken was still good, although just a tad on the dry side. The noodles were very flavorful and very saucy as well saltado de mariscos 10/10 delicious. It was full of seafood and very well flavored. Highly recommend for seafood lovers Aguadito de pollo 10/10 Very heart soup. This could be its own meal if you aren't extremely hungry. The soup is savory and so good on a cold day. If you love hearty soups with lots of flavor, this is a go-to! All of the plates were large and very delicious. Next time I 'll be back to order a soup for myself! Highly recommend this location if you're ever in the mood for Peruvian food or want to try something new. You won't be disappointed!

Sabor a Peru is always a great place to come and get your Peruvian food fix in the area. This place is so welcoming to the patrons. The entrees are always hot when they come out. Try the steak empanadas which are a nice appetizer. Made with nice chunks of steak and piping hot when it comes out. Don't forget the ají sauce. Great food and great service.

First time at "Sabor a Peru", stopped in after the gym. Place was clean, people were super friendly. I ordered the chaufa de pollo and tallarin verde con carne. Both were delicious. They mentioned a lot of people come for the ceviche so will have to try that next time

4 stars is for the whole experience. I give 3 stars for the food, and 1 extra for the great service. The restaurant was very clean and has nice, vibrant framed art. Service was very friendly and quickly while the food was still served piping hot, for the most part. I ordered the lomo saltado, chaufa de pollo, and a beef empanada . The food smelled really good when it was handed over. The lomo saltado had a lot of visible pepper but it wasn't overwhelming. The other place I like to order the dish from has a bit more sauce, flavor, and tender meat. I didn't mind this restaurant's version overall and finished the leftovers. The aji verde has a good kick to it which helped elevate the dish, and is probably one of the things I liked most. Unfortunately I really didn't enjoy the chaufa de pollo. The first bite or two was okay but I realized it was overly salted. I had someone else try it and they agreed. I did not finish this one. The empanada was served cold but the flavor was good and the meat was tender. It has great reviews on here so maybe I'll give it another try.

Had the best meal with my mom at this Peruvian spot and I already can't wait to go back. We ordered the ceviche, tallarín verde, and lomo saltado con chow mein, and everything tasted incredibly fresh (the staff even told us it's all made in-house, which you can absolutely tell). Every dish felt like it was made fresh! We finished with lucuma ice cream and homemade alfajores, which were the perfect ending. Such a warm, family-run restaurant serving truly authentic food. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to.

This place is a small restaurant located in the corner of a small plaza that has some simple decor and posters broadcasting their food. The interior is clean with several tables and a few Christmas decorations up. We ordered a tallarin Verde, bistec a la pobre with sunny side up egg, and chaufa al pollo. The chicken fried rice is delicious with plenty of meat and not overly oily if a bit salty. The green spaghetti was rich with cheese but could use more pesto or whatever green condiment they use. The beef on both beef dishes was tender, but lacked impact in terms of seasoning. The fries and plantains on the bistec was pretty good, but I didnt try the white rice or egg. All in all the food was very delicious, with the favorite being the chicken fried rice, but there is a discrepancy in price due to them using outdated menus at the time. Something worth checking out if you enjoy Peruvian food or are in the area for other matters.

Mom and Pop place in Covina, my guy wanted to try. Nice young man waited on us, gave us a quick "my grandmother's recipes." A rundown. I ordered my favorite Peruvian dish Saltado de pollo, which was a huge portion and very tasty. My guy ordered the Tallarin de pollo which is with spaghetti noodles , delicious as well. Portion s are huge so shareable. The service was ok, the food delicious and the atmosphere was pleasant.

The restaurant is tucked in the corner of a small strip mall with ample parking. We came during lunchtime on a weekday right when they opened so we were the first patrons there. Inside looks a little dated, but it was clean. We were greeted warmly by an employee who offered some good suggestions. We ended up trying 3 different chicken dishes. It took a little while to get our food but understandable as we saw that same employee over the stove, flames flying, cooking our food from scratch. I got the Pollo a lo Pobre and the chicken was moist and flavored nicely, I loved the addition of the egg to the rice and of course plantains to complete this very tasty dish. We all enjoyed our meals and devoured it quickly. It looks like we will be adding this to our lunch rotation!

Great little spot with delicious eats. I got the lomo saltado and tallarines Verde and they were both well made and filling. Their alfajores cookies are amazing! Definitely recommend trying them if you haven't. These peruvian cookies have a firm crust with caramel in the middle. Call ahead or go early because they tend to sell out of the cookies, but even then they have other great options to eat. The staff was so friendly and so attentive. It's always a treat to go back!

You can't see this business from the street. It's tucked in the corner. My Peruvian friend and I ordered the Lomo Saltado and a mixto Marisco platter with shrimp, octopus, etc. which had a few pieces of fried shrimp on top. The Mariscos came with lots of marinade called "Leche de Tigre." According to the owner, this marinade cures colds and flus. These dishes were so fresh and flavorful. Their seasonings were on point. We also ordered a sweet purple corn drink that's made from corn at 13,000 feet in the Andes. It's big enough inside to have a large group and catering is also available. The owner was very kind and we talked about the struggles of being a small business owner and how his business is word of mouth or Yelpers. We were the only ones in there for lunch on a Thursday. Please support this small business.

I was near the area and craving Peruvian food but the other options were closed Monday so I gave this one a shot. It's located in a small quadrant and is a bit difficult to see and it's a fairly small restaurant. You need to order at the window so it almost feels semi-fast food. Business was slow as there were no customers the entire time that I was there around noon. The wait took longer than expected but the food looked good. Unfortunately the loma saltado flavor was not as expected and too salty. The pesto chicken breast was ok but a bit dry. I did like how they give you a bottle of the green sauce which was needed. Overall, I don't think business is good when no one is there at lunch and the manager comes to ask for a Yelp review. The reviews for this restaurant is absolutely suspect. I think there could be potential if business was better and they churned food out consistently but I'd likely go with other options. read more

Delicioso! Delicious! Sabor a Perú was amazing! My family and I were doing an errand in the Covina area and I decided to Google some Peruvian food options and came across Sabor a Peru. It was an excellent choice. The food is just sooooo good! Delicious made from scratch & the portions are generous. The pricing is also what I consider good. Every single dish we order was amazing but I'm in absolute love with the Tallarin Verde de Pollo & the Lucuma Ice Cream. But again everything was amazing. Thank you Sabor a Perú. read more

I think I went on an off day. The aguadito soup didn't seem freshly made even though the cashier said it was. Their restroom wasn't working. I will probably give them another chance as everyone can have an off day. Customer service was good and there was a good size parking lot shared with other businesses. read more

Party of two decided to eat at a restaurant nearby after pickleball games at Hollenbeck. Sabor a Peru is a restaurant located at Covina, California. We have Inca Kola, tastes very artificial and yellow which reminds me of cough syrups - just a bit too artificial. Lomo Saltado (good), and Tallerin verde con pollo (so so). Overall it's just a bit above average but portions are big. It's a small restaurant, so it's run by two people, they are friendly. The vibe is more traditional Peruvian. 3.5 stars out of 5. Needs to simplify the menu in my opinion. read more

I found this spot on Yelp a few months ago after a trip to IKEA. Decided to try it out and it hit the mark. This is a small restaurant but very nice and clean inside. Everything we've had so far has been really really good. Especially the ceviche in tigers blood. The lady and I'm assuming her husband are so sweet. Not a place to go if you're in a rush being that the food is made fresh and takes a bit longer but we love going to places where waiting for the food gets exciting knowing it's fresh and delicious!! read more

We've been looking for a good Peruvian spot since our go-to place closed in 2020, and we're so happy we found this little gem. After reading the reviews, we decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint! This is the first time in a while that we've had really good Peruvian food. I had the saltado de pollo, the chicken wasn't greasy and the fries were crispy and not soggy. My husband had the lomo saltado, he thought the meat was tender, not greasy, and very flavorful. The green sauce is really good too it had a spicy kick. Service was good and so was ambience. We'll definitely be back. read more

Excellent food and outstanding service! We ordered the Leche de Tigre and the Tacu-Tacu con Lomo and Haifa de Pollo. The drinks, Maracuya and Chicha Morada, were also wonderful! Food was good. My only gripe, I have an 18 month old and she made a bit of a mess while eating. She ate the pyramid of rice that is provided with the pollo a lo pobre, minus what's on this picture and we got scolded by an employee saying that there was too much of a mess and she needed utensils. I tried telling him I knew of the mess but that most of the food ended up in her belly, which it's even silly that I'm having to explain to a fully grown ass, middle aged man this. I ask places we go eat for a broom or start cleaning the mess myself, but his approach was just classless and if the restaurant has an issue with small children, have a giant sign at your door banning kids who can't use utensils properly. Safe to say, I am not coming back here. First and last. read more

We had never been to this place before despite having g lived close by for years. We finally came to support the business after they were robbed and I wish we've tried this place sooner! Their empanadas they serve on Fridays Saturdays and Sundays were incredible, the main dishes were all amazing, and the desserts were mind blowing! The family running the place are so kind as well! When we came in the gentleman was very friendly.The restaurant was very warm and cozy great ambiance. The gentleman brought out some delicious passionfruit water and the hibiscus water absolutely delicious. Then he brought us out. Our food absolutely phenomenal the flavors that taste are beyond words. I would highly recommend when you're visiting LA or if you live here to come visit this restaurant and taste some authentic Peruvian food and try the green sauce it's spicy and delicious . The food is so good it makes you wanna to have seconds if you go hungry you live very satisfied Jenner's portions very very tasty food. If you love food, I definitely say go. read more

Again my brother just smiles and waives it off, no avoid any issues. We get in our car, and we see him walk outside, clearly hot and bothered, So now I get out the car to see what the deal is.... After watching my demeanor change... he changes his and with his attitude says ohh there's no problem here.... And we end it there... horrible horrible horrible service from that man.... Its unpretentious, humble, and smells like my moms cooking. The food was Amazing. Peruvian food is absolutely underrated. Come here, try the lomo saltado, drench it in their green sauce, try their ceviche, and the plantains. TRUST ME. We drove 45 minutes for this food. Can't wait to come back. The portions are massive as well. read more

I've had only good experiences when coming here. The food has this nice taste that reminds you of Peru. The staff is super friendly and it seems like they genuinely care. The portion sizes are also great for the price and they food taste's great. read more

Kind and polite staff that's very knowledgeable and friendl. They'll check in often on how you like the food and beverages. Had the lomo saltado which I have at every spot. Passed the check. Fries and plantains were great too. read more
