The food here was simply amazing. I got the ceviche and that was really good. The fish and shrimp were extremely tender that went well with the tartness of the lime. What really blew me away was the steak dish on top of potatoes and a side of rice. Wow. If you come here, this dish is a must. The steak was cooked perfectly and the crispy fries soaked up all the saucy goodness. My only complaint was how slow the service was. There was one server for the whole restaurant, and somehow, there's another section of the restaurant that made the food and that was on another side of the building. On this place the waitresses think they are smart. They add 15% to your bill and when you give the credit card they handle to you the wireless POS terminal showing the option of 18%, 20% and 25%, so if you haven't notice you give an extra tip more than double and I did. My friend told me the tip was added and they never told me. A no-frills Peruvian restaurant in the heart of Edgewater. Decorations, atmosphere and ambiance is non-existent. Service is OK, (Not outstanding, just OK). But the food!!!!, The food is what makes this restaurant a must-visit destination. We had: Fish ceviche - Fresh, juicy, flavorful. Tallarin verde with fish - Peruvian take on pesto sauce, amazing. On a recommendation for Peruvian food we headed to this place in around midtown. We were a party of 8 and it was also fathers day so we expected a long wait. Actually not a bad 40 min wait for a super packed place. The place nothing fancy but I heard the food is good & so we begin with two huge fried seafood platters that include calamari, fish, oysters the works. Its cooked perfectly and served with a delicious dipping sauce. Next is seafood soup which I was really looking forward too having had it before, I did not find it to be the very best, it tasted a bit fishier then Im used too & it was not as thick, but it was okay, Unfortunately we did take the soup to go since the air conditioning was not working well and we literally were melting. The place was also packed and so with 90 degree heat it was hard to enjoy the food. On a positive note , the ceviche was great, the seafood rice tasty & the steak & rice also good. Well let's begin with all the stuff this place does not do right. Service, it's horrible and honestly don't blame the servers. They are under staffed. Been on a "try something new" kick lately and after reading so many reviews for Peruvian food (especially ceviche) we decided this would be our next attempt at something different. Chose Sabor a Peru since it was close to Wynwood Walls and we had guests to show around there afterward. We arrived to a packed house; but the wait went by quite fast. Simple decor symbolizing the latin background. Perhaps a bit too many tables and chairs (too tight for waitresses to pass by without bumping my chair each time). The menu offers a huge selection of dishes to choose from; somewhat overwhelming so I asked the waitress for suggestions for our table of five to share (good thing my boo is fluent in spanish because I couldn't understand her spanglish). Part of the confusion was some dishes are meant to be shared and some are individual dishes but the menu does not clarify which. We began with a Ceviche De Mariscos (seafood ceviche). It was a perfect blend of seasoning, lime and a large amount of shrimp fish calamari and a couple mussels. It was wonderful but too small for five people to share. For the main course we went with: ***Shrimp Fried Rice: read the review, everyone raves about the fried rice (they were right too) ***Lomo Saltado: delicious slices of sauteed beef with tomatoes and fries (yes fries) mixed with a brown sauce; another favorite on the table. ***Jalea: basically a huge plate of deep fried fish and seafood; it was good but I can only handle so much deep fried food. It was good but next time I'd stay away from the fried (too rich and a bit too greasy) ***Parihuela: a huge bowl of soup filled with calamari and fish (meant as a meal not an appetizer) We were warned that ordered dishes take a long time. The reality is just that. It's worth the wait but we wanted another dish to share because we knew when they brought the food it wasn't enough, but it would've taken way too long to wait for another. The other problem was the soup. We ordered a 3 dollar soup of the day for one of our guests but they ran out. The waitress suggested another one that was similar. The problem was it was ordered as an appetizer to enjoy with the ceviche and it came 10 minutes after the main courses arrived. Plus it wasn't an individual serving, it was huge and meant as a meal... worst of all, it was 14 dollars. I wasn't thrilled with the tight space or the soup confusion but the food was so memorable... no hesitation with 4 stars. I think we have found our favorite Ceviche restaurant in Miami. During my recent business trip I gave Sabor a Peru a try since Ceviche is one of my favorite food. My mother cooks and lives on traditional caribbean latin food and even she was craving something unique and different. So for her birthday I surprised her with family night out at this Peruvian restaurant. The table wasn't ready but my mom kept trying to walk in because it smelled so good. The place was a bit small but the atmosphere was perfect. The waitress was very friendly and good thing I knew spanish because didn't speak english. Started off with some sangria. It was a huge glass and had pieces of fruit floating in the glass. It was really good. I think my mom missed out on the sangria, she tried a peruvian beer. We all shared a ceviche that the waitress recommended as their most popular ceviche. The only mistake was we should have ordered two for a table of 5 guests. For entrees we ordered a fried seafood platter, a sauteed steak platter, shrimp fried rice and a seafood soup. All the dishes were really amazing. We chose to share dishes on the table rather than individual dishes. We could have used one more dish and we would have added one more but as fellow yelper Michelle C pointed out it takes a long time to wait for dishes. Worst service ever! The beers are four dollars and we had to flag down servers for hot sauce. They kept being a quarter oz. and charging a dollar per drop. When we asked the server she was super rude and said the manager. She then said it sells at that price. After I explained we flagged you down 5-6 times cus there was only a few drops. I spent most of my time with my head reversed to flag a server! If your cheap come here! The server had her nose exposed. Which is a violation! We didn't even get greeted. Also if your cheap and want horrible service and 4.00 beer make sure you note. You will get sun burned sitting in here dinner hours during the summer and a nasty glare in your eyes while the sun sets win front of your eyes. Nope the shades don't work. What doesn't work for me is how rude the servers are. Charge me 2.00 per sauce just make it usable like hooters does. They charge for sauce also. During covid you would think restaurants would be trying more. The manager on this shift September 3rd at 6pm is the worst! His servers are horrible because of his leadership. I didn't even request him because if he lets his servers work around this small place so poorly and be rude to customers I can only imagine how he would be about it. It's gotten crazy expensive but the food is good but not worth the service and the extra service charge they got and they force the tip on your bill. They call it contribute tip on the bill never heard of that in my life, if you don't got cash they charge extra fees for charging your card this restaurants are out of control. Wow! The food here was so freaking fresh and delicious. We came here on a whim and I'm so glad we did. It was a party of 4 and we arrived minutes before the lunch time rush. We sat outside because the weather was so nice. It did take quite some time to get our food after we ordered but I see why. I ordered the garlic fish.... good googly moogly that bad boy was so damn good! To be honest with you I can't remember what everyone ordered but I do remember sampling their plates. Everyone's food was so damn good y'all. So good we came back for dinner the same night. If we would of had more time I would have gone again the next day. The sauce on my fish was all that and a bag of chips!!! I keep thinking about it every day. Ooooooh y'all that ceviche we had for dinner was banging!! I considered slurping the juice with my straw. This spot serves up good food, but the lack of customer service is a joke. They really give you that "your ordering in Perú feeling". I placed an order at 8PM. Immediately when I said I wanted take out she said 40 mins, I was ok with that. I then ordered something they were out of. Both responses were short and almost rude, again if the food is good IDC. So then I arrive at 8:40PM to pick up the food. I pay and they have it set so you have to tip 18- 25 percent I had no problem tipping for take out especially in these times. I do have a problem with paying and then waiting until 9pm to leave I'll be back the food is good, but I would be there a lot more frequently if the service was better read more

Just ordered 7/9/2023 I ordered seafood ceviche and seafood fried rice. I have been dining at Sabor a Peru for over 10years and the quality of food has steadily declined. The rice was undercooked (crunchy) and the ceviche was still FROZEN. I don't mind paying $44.00 for 2 dishes, but the quality of food should be MUCH better. This restaurant has good food but not the greatest customer service. I think they need more servers during rush time especially on the weekends. They also have very limited drink options. I am a wine lover but the wine selection available here is overpriced considering the type of wine they are are serving. I would love to have a nice bottle of white wine with my ceviche well at least I can order a beer (Crystal or Cusquena). For these reasons, I can't give them 5 starts but food is tasty. Most of the time I call for take out so I can enjoy it better at home with some good wine in a more relaxing atmosphere. This casual restaurant is small and can get very hectic at times. I mainly come in during late afternoon and always have slow service. Some of the dishes I liked to order are chaufa, anticucho de corazon, fish soup, pescado a lo macho, and ceviche. Even though I thought my waitress was a bit sassy, we had great service and amazing food here. Check out my photos for the proof! My faves of the meal: - Mango smoothie - Beef hearts - Jalea Be forewarned, the entree portions are gargantuan! The Jalea dish can almost be split between 2 average sized hungry men. A bit of a hole in the wall in a strip of shops along Biscayne in Edgewater, the sign for Sabor a Perú,caught my eye on the way back from a masked stay at home grocery adventure. I'm super glad it was too of mind when we felt like ordering Peruvian. You can call in or order at the door for takeout. Postmates does delivery. So this food is really good. We ordered the steaks. 2 different meals but pretty much the same. My husband had the steak with rice and salad and I had the steak with rice, beans, plantains and an egg on top of the rice. The reason 4 stars and not 5. THE RULE: YOU DON'T SERVE ONE PERSON THEIR FOOD WITHOUT ALL THE OTHER DISHES BEING READY. WHY? BECAUSE THE FOOD WILL GET COLD AND ONLY ONE PERSON WILL BE EATING ALTHOUGH THEY CAME TO EAT TOGETHER! My husband got his food and waited 10 minutes before I asked the clueless servers where's my food? No one even came and said, sorry your food is not ready or whatever. Then why serve my husband his food then? So his food is getting cold bc he doesn't want to eat without me. It finally comes. I'm like seriously?! ITS THE SAME STEAK! How long does it take to fry plantains and an over easy egg? I was so annoyed! The waiter a male guy just doesn't have a clue. Maybe he's new. I don't know. Food is okay but it's a real shame when restaurants add tip to your bill then try to trick you into adding a full, additional tip. This restaurant will bring your check with tip already discreetly added. If you're paying with a card, the credit card slip will come back alone (no itemized bill for you to check) with a blank tip section and "suggested tip" amounts ranging from 15% - 20%. Nowhere will you get any indication that you've already been charged tip. What's worse is that the new "suggested tip" amounts will be based on the full total (your order + 15% tip). I waited tables for years. I understand the inclination to add a tip, especially in more tourist-likely spots, but please do so with integrity and give customers a chance to add *additional* tip -- making it clear that they've already paid some portion. Also, this place is frequented by locals -- it's just sad and disingenuous to treat those most likely to be repeat clients this way. I won't be back. read more

Unfortunately I have to say sabor a Peru has gone down in quality with popularity. I used to come here once a week because it was a great deal for great tasting food. The last few visits haven't been as great. The service has gotten pretty terrible and the portions have gotten smaller with little to no meat. Our lomo salteado had a few pieces of meat mixed with a ton of fries and my salad was a plate of plain lettuce with one slice of tomato. When I asked the waitress if I could have a few more slices of tomato she just said no and walked away. What a shame, I used to love this place! read more

Tried out this place after hanging in Wynwood. We were looking for a seafood place that was close. This place has two locations in the same building. One spot is super crowded and the other had plenty of space; however, the staff is not tell people to go to the secondary location for a table. Let's start with the positives: the food is excellent. We had seafood fried rice, seafood soup, whole fried fish and fried shrimp. Food was really good. We had fresh fruit juice wii our meal. I had he pineapple juice and it was very good. Now let's get to the negatives: this place needs a host or hostess to guide people when they come in. People are sitting outside in the heat waiting on a table at the primary location when there are plenty of tables at the secondary location. The service is extremely slow. The table next to us waited 30min on their sangria order. We had to beg the waitress for water. No one came to ask if we needed anything. The staff seemed to be overwhelmed and frantic. I had one of the best customer service experience in a very long time. I place a take order for a lomo saltado and a fish ceviche. I picked-up the food and once I arrived home I found out that one of the containers had the wrong order! I call in order to let them know the mistake they had made and where super friendly about delivering the correct order. I am now satisfy about my experience and with the food. On a side note: I would like to suggest that they should continue to deliver the same service, but the portions need to be a little more generous. read more
