In May 2025 we had a late lunch at Sabor & Sazón. Their burger was so good that I am still thinking about it! March 2026: Dinner seating at the bar -- we felt fortunate to get in on a Friday, as it was bustling and tables were full. Our meals were outstanding (I had bandeja paisa), and we were treated extra-specially with cleverly-made cocktail shots and flan. Chef Jorge came out from the kitchen to greet us too. No burgers currently on the dinner menu, but it's a guarantee we will return. First let's start off with the fresh baked bread! I mean it's hot! Ohhh so yummy! The server said it was freshly baked foccasia bread and the dipping sauce is an olive dip with sundried tomatoes, olive oil and that's he could disclose! I don't blame them, the dipping sauce was sooooooo good we had 2 servings of it I booked our diner date via Yelp and it was so easily to book, confirm and just show up. The ladies in the front were very nice and inviting. The inside of the restaurant has an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. You see servers getting it done and taking care of their responsibilities to each table. I forgot our servers name but he was about 6'2, and very knowledgeable on each menu item. As we went by our night I decided to ask a young lady to give compliments to the show on such an amazing meal. She goes on to say that she is the General Manager for the restaurant and that her Dad is the Executive Chef‍In addition, she started saying the bartender is a cousin, her brothers are servers and some uncles (might be wrong on the uncle part) work in the kitchen as well. I was talking to my Fiancé and thought....what an amazing story she shared. Oh, it was so heartfelt and meaningful The Chef came out to say hello and he gave us some insight on his goals and aspirations. Truly a story of grit and perseverance! We visit Paso 1-2 times a year, and always try out new restaurants. Unfortunately, most have been disappointing. Not tonight. Had dinner at Sabor & Sazon tonight. Unbelievable!!! Fantastic food. We were looking forward to dining here based on the reviews we read but unfortunately were disappointed. We were seated promptly on arrival. There was a nice heater by the hostess stand outside the restaurant. Great on a chilly day like today. After we ordered our food, we were asked if we would like some bread. The bread was warm but very thinly sliced. It was served with a tapenade which was tasty. We ordered a Greek salad to start but what was served was more of a spinach salad with some feta cheese, very few tomatoes and cucumbers. Tasted good but it wasn't a Greek salad by any means. We were asked if we wanted more bread. The bread arrived cold but was cut in bigger chunks this time. Bread was fresh and tasted good. For our entree, my husband ordered the quinoa salad with the grilled octopus. We got a very similar salad as the Greek salad with some quinoa sprinkled on the salad. It was primarily made with spinach! The octopus was over grilled and was a disappointment. I had the Frutte de Mar which had very little shrimp( about 4 pieces; it was cut up and not served whole) , a few slivers of scallops, nice amount of clams and tons of sliced calamari which was overcooked. The sauce on the pasta dish tasted good but overall was disappointing. The proportion of the seafood was uneven. Definitely not worth $35 price! Decided to skip dessert. Nice touch: Jose, the son of the owner, stopped by to introduce himself and chatted with us about the restaurant and their future plans. Really appreciated the personal touch. Restaurant was a little noisy but it was pretty full so it was not a surprise. I may give this another try next time I'm in Paso Robles and hope for a better experience. read more

The food was good, but they need to be upfront about their cocktail menu. I asked for a Negroni and was told they couldn't make it. I then asked if they had gin and they said yes, they just couldn't make a Negroni. Turns out they don't have gin, they are licensed for only wine and beer, so they can only make sake/wine inspired drinks. We stopped in for lunch on our way from San Diego to Santa Cruz. Picked this restaurant for ease off the 101 and ability to make a reservation. Here you go: Food - 3/5: While the overall quality was closer to a 4, there were a couple missteps that brought our opinion down. The Caesar salad was not cold enough and we had to ask for freshly ground pepper on top; there was a considerable amount of oil used and puddled in all pasta dishes; the warm mini toast was nice but only a tiny cup of bruschetta was brought out for our table of four; and the pasta with garlic and oil lacked seasoning. The standout dish was the chicken Marsala - delicious! Loved the added onions. Service - 3/5: While service was attentive (we were the only table at 12pm on a Saturday), it felt strangely forced and awkward. They have put a hostess stand outside the entrance and the young lady was not very friendly. Odd. Finally after being the only customers for 30 minutes, another couple was seated. Little things were off: missing silverware, requested items (extra plate) were forgotten, and no water refills. They told us they've only been open 6 months so perhaps they are still working it out. Vibe 2/5: There are 5 booths lining one wall, about 12 tables, and 10 bar seats. We wanted to like it and appreciated the very clean dining room and restrooms but couldn't get past the emptiness and awkwardness of the employees. We showed up on a Sunday evening in town on a long Motorcycle trip. We decided on bar seating even though they did have tables available. The place was busy for a Sunday but they got us right in. My wife ordered a Red Sangria that had some sort of floral flavor and Aroma that was too strong. She got through it. I ordered a Cab which was great. Of course, we are in Paso! They brought us bread that was terrific but even more impressive was the spread they gave with it. It was something like Honey, sun dried tomato, ricotta cheese and maybe olives all blended up into a spread. We almost licked the little cup it came in. We had the Fettuccini Alfredo and the Lobster Ravioli. Both entrees were perfect. The bartender and hostess were both friendly and attentive. We had a good look at the kitchen staff from our vantage point and they knew their business. They worked very efficiently. Great restaurant all around. read more

I really don't like to bash on a restaurant as I know it is a tough business. We went here for dinner on Saturday and it was not a good experience. First my wife's halibut was dry. My special ink squid pasta was missing a few ingredients and more like the item on the regular menu. The one glass of wine I got after having a few sips had a tremendous amount of sediment at the bottom of the glass, if you are going to pour the last of a bottle which is not a good idea, please filter it. My son's wagu was so tough he asked for another knife as it was so tough he couldn't cut it or chew it. I said stop and just send it back as it was not prepared correctly or not what it was supposed to be. The Caesar salad was made with some bottled dressing, come on it's not that difficult to make. The only thing that stood out was the lamb chops which my son's girlfriend ordered, It was well prepared. The desert a tiramisu which was supposed to be re-added to the menu after a long absence was not edible and had way too much booze in it. The flan was off, can't describe what was wrong with it but again not hard to put together if you're making it in a restaurant. Our new FAVORITE restaurant in Paso! They haven't been open for long but their food blew us away! My husband and I celebrated our 3 year Wedding anniversary with them and they did not disappoint. Their menu offers a good variety of food choices especially with seafood. I enjoyed their lomo saltado and my husband their filet mignon all good, for dessert we ordered the crème brûlée and it did not disappoint. This was our last dinner before heading home and was looking forward to a great meal but instead left incredibly disappointed. The cocktails were not good but we could overlook that if the food was great (or even decent). We ordered the filet mignon medium rare, got it overcooked and dry. Completely unacceptable at a restaurant supposedly at a high caliber. The salmon came overcooked and dry. The red snapper special was also overcooked, dry, and over seasoned (too salty). The 2 pasta dishes we ordered were good but also over seasoned. We didn't bother to send anything back as we didn't want to deal with the awkwardness of telling them every dish sucked. The kids were hungry, didn't want to wait further, and just wanted to eat and leave. Overall - underwhelming experience, subpar food, overpriced for a meal that could have came from Applebees. We left mad that we paid $300 for a mediocre meal. No shade to the staff though, they were very nice but quality of food left much to be desired. read more

We ordered the corn soufflé and if you like uchepos, you will love this. It's offered as an appetizer but can definitely be a dessert. The pasta was flavorful. First off, the food was worthy of a Michelin Star Rating!!!! This awesome, family owned and operated location had great service, drinks and food was 5 star. We had the Barramundi with veggies and mash that was prepared with a crispy outer and moist and flaky center. Very unfortunate that I need to provide this review. We chose this restaurant for a birthday celebration. The food was decent - a little saving grace. But the reception greeting and the checkout was extraordinarily disappointing. Upon arrival, I was the first to arrive and my buddies were right behind me. I was told, "they have 15 minute grace period because your table has a 6:45 reservation right after you." I was pressured to begin ordering. Then at the end of the meal, my other friend reminded them (since it appeared as if they forgot) that it was our friend's birthday celebration. I was very disappointed with the food and service at this restaurant. The main issue I had was 25 minutes after taking my order the server returned to explain the kitchen is out of my dish! She should have figured that out within 3-5 minutes, max. The "similar" substitute dish they recommended was bland and nothing like what I originally ordered. Meanwhile, my friends had to wait the extra time before we all got our food together, probably 45+ minutes from the time we first ordered. It was just a bad experience. Also, the ambiance and decor of the restaurant is just "cold" and uninviting; it lacks character. You are much better off going next door to The Hatch or down the road to Grace and Rose! read more

This new family owned and operated restaurant in Paso Robles is a wonderful addition and certainly one of the best. Elegantly appointed with friendly service, the atmosphere is upscale casual. Recommend making reservations as this place will grow in popularity very quickly. We enjoyed two amazing appetizers. The Pastelitos (like empanadas, but made with corn) were excellent, and the Calamari was one of the best I've had (shrimp, scallops, calamari in a lemon vinaigrette). For our main entree, we shared the large and delicious Seafood Paella, which had a piece of seafood in every bite! We also enjoyed the Chilean Sea Bass, which was light and savory. Lastly, the Bandeja Paisa was also excellent, with tender and flavorful skirt steak, chorizo sausage that was mildly spicy, along with rice, beans, and a fried egg... wow! To top it all off, we enjoyed the Tarta Chocolate for dessert and it too was scrumptious (light, airy, creamy, and served warm). For my wife, the best part of this culinary experience was that almost all menu items were gluten free! Even their handmade pastas can be ordered gluten free!
