The food was great, service was attentive. We ate inside but next time will eat outside just for a change. A large pitcher of Sangria was pricey so will get a bottle of wine next time. Shrimp in garlic & the octopus were our starters, we had hangar steak, skirt steak, & liver & onions. If you like hot hot sauce try their homemade hot sauce, you can buy a bottle too. This hole in the wall restaurant serves authentic Portuguese cuisines. The waitress was very informative and courteous. It looks like a newly renovated place, so it does have a clean look. Very small, and you may be within a few feet to your neighboring table. The food was very tasty. The grilled octopus was not rubbery at all, and the roasted mini potatoes that came with it was tender (not firm). The steak was cooked the way I wanted it, not overdone. They have a homemade hot sauce. Be advised it is very spicy, and will burn your insides haha. I believe it is made from habaneros. The reason why I didn't give it five star was that, even though the food was tasty, I felt like they didn't give enough to fill you up. Usually when you go to the hole in the wall places you get so much food that you end up taking a some back home with you. FYI: Ask for some bread so you can wipe the oil from the grilled octopus dish. It's very heavenly. TIP: They have different daily specials, and are posted on their website. Great dinner last night! Terrific, friendly and personal service. Loved the Shrimp app which I saw on Yelp was highly recommended. Had the Hanger Steak, my wife had the Skirt Steak. Called in for a delivery, asked the person is this plate enough for 2 people, he says, YES! Plate was $23 for what can only feed one person, and I don't eat a lot... The sauce in the chicken masala is SUPER oily and barely any sauce... Last but not least, they said it comes with two sides, and guess what...Mushroom in the sauce is considered as one side!!! From the outside, seems like a fast food place. But inside, it is warmly decorated and cozy. I really was surprised by the nice ambiance, since the exterior was so unassuming. We ordered octopus, red snapper, and skirt steak. All the dishes were delicious. There seemed to be a bit too much oil in the octopus, although we enjoyed it anyway. Nothing outstanding about the side dishes - but I was pleasantly surprised they had brown rice, as a healthier alternative to white rice. Service was friendly and we enjoyed our meal. Situated in the Ironbound section of Newark on the corner of Ferry Street and Jefferson Street, my partner and I came to this establishment serving Portuguese and Brazilian cuisine with a focus on Brazilian after our visit to the museum. It's a very small space inside but luckily had outside dining where we took an advantage of the beautiful weather with other patrons. Our server Rafael was pleasant, he assured us that the food they serve is "as authentic as you can get," and he reviewed the specials of the day. Specialties were mostly grilled meats and fish. Complimentary bread with a mixture of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and spices began our meal. We ordered the Chicken Marsala/ Frango Marsala (Grilled Breast, Cream, Mushrooms) and Skirt Steak/ Fraldinha Grelhada (Grilled Sizzling Skirt 12oz, Peppers, Onions). Both entrees accompanied 2 sides and got 2 orders of sweet plantains, mashed potato and white rice. The food was fresh, delicious and tasty. Service was very friendly at reasonable prices. As a Yelp Elite, a complimentary espresso was so strong requiring several more teaspoons of sugar. Parking may be somewhat hard, but definitely worth the struggle. My first visit here was 5 stars i ordered chicken marsala and coconut lime drink. The food was excellent and the service was great. My second visit i got chicken marsala and coconut lime drink, two apps: pork and fried yucca along with the chicken drums app. My partner got the picanha steak. The steak tasted weird, I do not know how else to describe it. The chicken marsala did not taste as good as last time. The coconut drink tasted watered down (it is not an alcoholic drink). The fried yucca and pork was OK. The best item was the chicken drums it was beyond yummy but the rest of our meal was a disappointment. Since we are far from newark we most likely not return any time soon. If we had the same food experience the first time we would've made it a point to return as regulars but the i consistencies between the first and second time is too risky for us to chance. read more

Came here for a date recently. The place is small but very comfortable. It was a weekday and not crowded so we were seated right away. The place is byob, so we brought in some wine. For appetizers we had the Shrimp and for entries, the Seabass and Salmon. Shrimp was very good. The entries came with two sides, so in the end you had a lot of food. Collared greens weren't great, but I did like the plantains. My big annoyance wasn't until after I left the place that I realized that what I paid actually didn't make sense to the menu prices. So either I was charged for something I never received, or they charged me a bottle open fee, a steep one at that. I probably won't return. read more

Good depth of flavor and as one would expect, moist and satisfying. The pork chop was also good, albeit a bit salty. I wasn't expecting the chives/scallion greens and had to remove them. The Sautéed greens, also salty but the combo of garlic and collard greens were quite nice. The sausage is best eaten early while it's hot; they cool fast. My favorite was the mixed salad which had mango in it, and the flavor of the meat. The brazilian fried chicken is completely outstanding. Tender bits of chicken with perfectly-textured exterior soaked in aromatic, garlic-y butter. It's a wonderful entree that makes for perfect comfort food. That said, the steaks were just OK for me. They were spiced alright, but just not anything I didnt feel I could get elsewhere. Excellent dinner of Octopus, Yucca, and Bavaroise. Service was pleasant and they don't rush you at all. The octopus was cooked perfectly and the yucca was soft. The bavaroose (which I think was a berry flan) was smooth and O wanted to lick the berry sauce from the plate. read more
