I walked up to the counter and asked if I could get a table for 4. The most unfriendly, rude, obnoxious guy said, "we don't take reservations." "I said the other 3 people in my party were parking the car, I am staying at the hotel." There were very few tables at the restaurant and he said, "go sit at whatever table you want." Then he walked up to the table and said, "if you want to order something, you need to order over there (as he pointed to the counter that he had been standing behind." I could already feel the way he conducted himself that this was not going to be a positive experience, so I stood up, pushed my seat in and walked out of the restaurant. Compared to all the other restaurants at the Peppermill, I would never recommend it and I think Peppermill could get a much better restaurant to take this space. read more

I'm begging you to stop using the chicken tinga, it's a soggy mess each time. I forgot after the last time I got the tacos and didn't realize it's the same chicken they use in the burrito and it's so messy and soggy. Please use some sort of chicken that holds up on a tortilla. read more

For casino food, I don't think it was that bad! Portion was a bit too big for my belly, but food tasted like it was cooked fresh, and flavors were good! Honest dine in review: Expected more from this experience, so we'll give it a 3.5/5 but round it out to a 4. I love me a good Mexican food experience, however this one was lightly lacking. Service was okay as we had our drink only offered for a refill at the end of the meal and it wasn't too busy at the time of day we went. (Could've been a shift change, I don't know...) -chips and salsa: 3/5 Both salsas were very runny and were lacking a spice flavor, red salsa was good and offered a tomato flavor, but didn't have that heat you look for in a red salsa. The green one was more of a tomatillo sauce that had the spices but was missing notes of onion and other seasonings used in a tomatillo salsa. The chips were good though. -Elote: 4/5 The corn was good, a little on the over cooked side but it was still able to give that smoky taste I guess you could call it? It paired well with the toppings and gave you an authentic experience as it was unique and had a lot of the flavors you look for in Elote. Fish tacos: 3.5/5 Batter was a little burned as maybe the oil was too hot? Or maybe the oil needed to be replaced, but there was an off taste somewhere, non the less, the fish was paired with a sauce that was met well with the lime. It was a needed element as the slaw neutralized the experience a little too much for the flavor you expect from a fish taco. The experience was average for what I ordered so next time maybe I'll try their birria tacos and see if that elevates the review. read more

Service is counter style but friendly and fairly quick. We really enjoyed their salads, especially the Pacifica with the spicy dressing. The salads are enormous, add an extra portion of meat for $5 and you have a very filling dinner for 2 for $20. We also liked thier Quesa Birria tacos, meat is nicely seasoned and generous although the consomme is a little on the sweet and thick side for my preference, I like a little more spicy and brothiness, still good though. read more

This is what the Peppermill needed - some Mexican food! We ordered the carne asada burrito and the carne asada street tacos and both options were 10/10! We did stop by as soon as they opened and everything tasted hot and fresh. I would also like to point out the customer service was great! FYI - the spicy is salsa is indeed SPICY. Was looking for a place to eat in the Peppermill casino and ran into this place. It wasn't too busy inside. I wasn't sure how the place ran. I guess you order your food first and drinks then you sit down. I ordered their special, 3 ground beef hard shell tacos. It didn't take too long for the food to come out. I took a bite out of the first taco. It was pretty good. It seemed like they fried their own taco shells. The filling was good also but I think their taco shells made the taco shine. I also had a dirty horchata. I like horchata but I've never had a dirty horchata. It was ok. It had rum and some other kind of stuff in it. I had to try it. I don't frequent casinos too often but if I was in the Peppermill again, I'd stop back in here. read more

May I request to please, please, please put them on the regular menu? We've previously visited Sabroso inside Peppermill. The cashier and servers are always very nice and welcoming. We decided to try something new, the shrimp cocktail. Honestly a bit disappointed with the shrimp cut and overall consistency of the tomato sauce. The torta lacked some flavor this time around as well. What can you expect of this place? I've been to two other places in Peppermill and they all have one thing in common: overpriced mediocre food. I didn't expect much, but my grandpa wanted to treat us here so thought I'd try a new place. I'm quite surprised they offered birria, but it was underwhelming. I ordered the queso birria tacos. It came with two and one of them was just half cheese-- my stomach cried for lactaid. The toppings are all on the side but it isn't your typical cilantro and raw onions. Radish was not fresh. The tacos felt like quesadillas except with corn tortillas instead of flour. Food came out pretty quick so I don't expect it to be fresh. read more

Happy to see Peppermill added a Mexican restaurant- but the food was not very good on my first try. Started with a $6 12-oz horchata, so yeah, casino-priced and tasted as though it was from a premade container, not great. Next was a $5 elotè, not casino-priced but again, not very good. The corn cob stayed on the grill too long, so it was dried out and moved far across the line from charred to burnt. The only other flavor was a light hint of Mayo, no flavor other than dry burnt corn kernels. Last was a Al Pastor Mula (tortilla sandwich) that was two extremely greasy small tortillas with some meat on, and a small pile of pickled onions on the side. This was horrible to pick up, grease all over me, and there was no choice but to pick it up, for the to-go order had no utensils. The Al pastor lacked flavor also. They are new, I'll try again but I am going to wait a while. read more

Been here twice now, they're realllllyyy overpriced in my opinion, it was close to $70 for one elote, two Jarritos, and 3 orders of Birria tacos. The tacos are good, hit or miss honestly, some good some bad. The cashier had a bit of an attitude and seemed to have got annoyed when I was thinking on our order, the tres leches cake is good, they cook the corn a little too much, there were a lot of burnt/dry spots, but flavor/toppings were yummy in the spots that weren't dry. I think I'll try to find a spot that serves Birria that's a little more reasonably priced. Just doesn't give $70 quality. Tacos are $5 a piece if I remember correctly. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from Sabroso. But it actually ended up being pretty good and surprisingly affordable. The customer service from the staff, like with most of the Peppermill, was great. No problems there. Our food was served hot and fairly quick. I ordered the quesabirria tacos and they were perfectly messy and full of flavor. The meat was slightly overdone but no enough to ruin the meal. If you're staying at the Peppermill and/or are close by and you're craving fairly affordable Mexican food at the upper levels of decent, look no further. We'll be back for sure. read more

This place is actually really good! I was pretty hungry when we got the food, so maybe that kind of swayed my opinion, but I really did enjoy it! I love the convenience of ordering ahead via peppermill's website. Our food was ready to be picked up within 15 mins. Can't really speak on the vibe of the restaurant bec my husband just picked up the food and he brought it to our room at the hotel. We got quesabirria tacos, 1 Al pastor taco, chips/salsa and a side of rice. The total was around $30 but we paid less because we had some casino comps and local's discount! The quesabirria was perfect! The shredded beef was so good with the melted cheese and paired so well with the dip! The taco was VERY tiny ($5!!!) but it had so much meat and had plenty of toppings. I got their roja salsa as well as the spicy salsa. I liked the roja but the spicy one was just way too spicy for me. If you're looking for a quick bite at the casino, I def do recommend giving this place a try! It's definitely more expensive than it should be, but understandable since it's inside the casino. With that said, I would only come back if I'm staying at peppermill (which is quite often... prob once a month!), otherwise there's plenty of other spots in Reno for tacos! read more

This little taco shop is new at Peppermill I decided to stop in and try it out. The prices are not bad, the food is alright, but lacked salt little to no salt in the food, I never add salt to my food, but this was an exception it definitely needed salt although the flavor was there. You walk up they take your order you can dine in or out they give you a number you place on the table they bring you the food. I'll go back to try more food options closes at 3am not a 24hrs place it should be. I gave it 3 stars because it's a very small place, seating is limited and the food lacks salt. read more

The food is not bad but it could been better. The dirty horchatas is strong in rum,. My carne asada street tacos, the steak is dry. The Salsa could been better, it came out very watery. There are more water then needed to be. The shrimp cocktails tastes better then my street tacos. This place is best for quick snack then a sit down meal. The prices is expensive, compare to near by communities. 5 dollars for 1 street tacos is a little bit much. It's about the size of Trenta lid from Starbucks, like I mention before the carne asada is dry, lack of flavor, it needs pinch of salt. The salsa also lacks favors. I ate here during Memorial Day weekend with my family. We ordered two chicken tinga burritos and three chicken Sabroso bowls. They were absolutely delicious and the portions were huge! I'd say this is more a 3.5 star review. The location is nice. You basically order when you come in and they give you a number to place on the table...then they bring your food out. We ordered the elote, quesabirria tacos, burrito, and chips with guac. Plus we each got a drink. In general the food was good although pricier than necessary. The elote was tasty, but could have been a bit more fresh looking. The quesabirria tacos were good, but you only got two and for the price I'd say 3 would have made more sense. The burrito was a good size and tasty? But the price again seemed high. The chips and guac were good despite previous reviews of them not being great; so maybe they stepped up their game on that. Staff were friendly but clearly they needed more help as it seemed they were short staffed with one of the managers helping to clear tables. Overall a decent experience. Not sure if rush to go back at those prices when you could get more food and potentially better quality from the taco trucks, but it was a good experience. read more

The food here is so good it's authentic Mexican food which I was not expecting inside a casino. Love the red salsa they have here it's really spicy for those who don't do spicy. The service was great,really nice and welcoming. And apart from that the vibe is really good! They have a casino at peppermill which is my favorite spot in Reno compared to the other casinos. I ordered three street tacos and corn. It's an actual corn on the cob and three small street tacos. Carne asada, carnitas and shrimp. These were a la carte with no sides. They same with a salsa on the side (mild) and onions and cilantro. Cut into super small pieces. And some cotija cheese. I would cut back on the onions and cilantro. Out of the three meats I ordered, the shrimp was the most flavorful. Both the carne asada and the carnitas were soft but the flavor was missing. The corn on the cob was good. The kernels were small and it had cotija cheese on it too. Not too sweet but it's grilled and you can see the toasty parts of the cob. I felt like I was at the backyard cook out! I wanted Chile rellenos but I was told they menu changes depending on what's new, seasonal or weekend. It was a little weird to get a cloth napkin and nice utensils for tacos. Lol it's nice and clean and thankfully it doesn't smell of fabuloso I felt they could elevate the tacos a little more... add some avocado maybe .. it's a cute little place but it's not fulfilling for my appetite. read more

I had a House margarita that was supposed to be fresh lime juice, it was awful it tasted like the worst powdered sour mix ever, I couldn't even force it down, and it was a hefty $15. We have been going to the Peppermill for 30 years. Have seen the restaurants come and go. This one needs help. Have tried it 2 times now and about the same. Carne asada tacos were tasteless and overcooked lacking enough cilantro and onions. Tortillas were greasy. Guacamole was like the pre made one you buy at Costco. I've heard from several people they didn't like it so was trying to give it a chance. Won't be going back until they fix the problem. Peppermill can do better than this. read more
