Im from what I believe to be the sandwich capital of the world. North Jersey, so im pretty particular when it comes to meats cheeses and bread. This place is a gem for being so far south. The bread is slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The meats and cheeses could be sliced a little thinner but are overall good. Sack O' Subs is one of our favorite local spots. Growing up eating hoagies here (and at Wawa) has ruined me for life--I find most other places "sub" par in comparison. The hoagie rolls are extra fresh and the lettuce seems almost buttery. A classic order is a Regular Italian hoagie with oil, vinegar, and oregano. Everyone in our group enjoyed the food but it was nothing to be too excited about. I ordered the Deluxe Cheesesteak, it was ok but I've had much better. Everyone enjoyed their meal during a time no one really wanted to cook anything, so it was worth it. Not the best meal but definitely not the worst. I'm a local of ocean city and I have order sandwich trays for dozens of parties over the years. I usually have very good experiences at sac o subs (both locations). Today I went into the 9th street location with my children to order lunch and was greeted with nothing but aggravation from an employee. I had my stroller with me and the man was very annoyed at me/ my stroller. He gave me several dirty looks and was huffing and puffing. Instead of the man seeing me struggle and offer help he made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed. Needless to say I left without ordering and I will never return back to sac o subs. Had the thought today that - damn I never reviewed any of the places that are still around from my childhood. This was a huge one. Best bread. Ranks as one of the best cheesesteaks of all time along with White House in AC and Dino's in Margate. This cheesesteak is so good literally no one in my family has ever even had Voltaco's. Excellent service and sandwiches. Stopped in with a larger group (around 15) and our server was great. Accurate and fast, not to mention delicious! All the steaks with meat if you call it that were dry to the point of shoe leather So we called to complain about the meatless steaks and they said we never said steak....really? Took my children here tonight for dinner hoping it would have improved since our last visit but it is even worse! This was our last visit! They are very expensive and the food is substandard. I had a cheesesteak with marinara and mushrooms. The meat was like rubber and hard to find since there was hardly any on the roll. Same thing for the cheese. It was more of a marinara and canned mushroom sandwich and it was tasteless and too tough to eat. Mine went in the trash. The kids didn't like their food either. The hamburger was a repressed frozen patty cooked to death and half of that went in the trash too! You know it's bad when a hungry teenage boy won't eat it! read more

My husband and I are staying in Ocean City this winter so decided to start trying a few local places. We ordered a late lunch. Employee was friendly on the phone and pickup was simple. When we opened the order the cheesesteak order was wrong. We were disappointed but hungry so didn't want to call and get new sandwich. I ordered chicken tenders. They were tasteless as well as way overdone making them dry and hard to chew. I've never written a yelp before however this place made me download the app. Not to get too specific but my husband and I had to run to the bathroom shortly after finishing the meal. Now two days later my husbands stomach still feels off. Needless to say we will not be trying this food establishment again. This weekend my family and I drove over three hours to enjoy the Ocean City, NJ boardwalk. As usual, we got takeout from Sack O Subs (eating in was not an option). What was not usual, was the extreme lack of meat on our subs, a salami and cheese and a roast beef. Six slices of salami on a 12 inch roll! The roast beef was not any better. I do not know if the shutdown has them cutting back on portions but it was terrible value for the money and just not very special at all. I recommend walking there (parking is tricky during the season, and you'll be so full after eating you'll be glad you burned at least a little bit of it off on the walk home). Our food took over an hour to be delivered and when it arrived, it was cold. The meatball sub had mushed meat and not meatballs, the hamburger was cold, and the fries were greasy. Sack O'Subs has hands down, the BEST meatball sub I've ever had! Their cheese fries are pretty delicious as well. Parking here is horrendous in the summer so if you can bike/walk here, do it. I would definitely miss on the cheesesteaks however they have a pretty delicious buffalo chicken steak. Also the 1/2 size is HUGEE (probably the same size or larger then wawa's largest sub size). I live in OCNJ yearround aND on numerEROUS occasions have ordered from sack o subs on 9th Street as well as my family when they come and stay for a weekend or whatever amount of time. The food is usually consistently mediocre ...never terrible...never great,untill tonight. My wife and I ordered a large chicken cheese steak (20 inch) and a cup of soup the chicken cheese steak was ordered with extra cheese ketchup and fried onions, the girl td us 30 minutes for delivery...after 56 minutes the food arrived. To say there was 70% onions rather than chicken throughout the sandwich MAY be an understatement the sandwich was AT MINIMUM 85% ONION, there was one half of sandwich that no BS couldn't have had more than a teaspoon of chicken to the 1/2 cup of slimy bunched together fried onion on it. I've included photos and to make matters worse when I called (which I am not prone to nitpicking about food from restaurants a d the like) when I called the girl asked about 4 times "weull what do u want" I stated I didn't want them to send another sandwich (which she did offer) and I also stated that I was not asking for a refund but that they needed to be aware that this sandwich was a disgrace and completely unacceptable. She was if orant even after I made it clear I was seeking no monetary response she again said (ignorantly) "well, what do u want us to do?!?!" What I want is to be able to call a place and order what I ordered and not get chicken subbed for gobs on disgusting piles of fried onions and for the place to not act as tho I'm making it up, my wife and I both removed most of the onions from the sandwich and were left w a tablespoon or 2 at best of actual chicken. Nice surprise. Normal looking street restaurant that would make you assume "same old, same old". Hidden gem that we found, thanks to my fellow yelpers. Despite that appearance, the food was fresh, hot, and tasty. Almost everyone ordered a "half sandwich" which sounds small and disappointing, so I was worried that we would leave hungry. Wrong! All of our portions were huge (2 of us couldn't finish). The rolls for the subs were incredible- big, dense on the inside, and crispy on the outside. The burger was 1/3 lb. on a fresh brioche bun.
