After over two decades on the coast, I finally tested the cashier's cocky claim that they have the best chowder around. He wasn't lying. It's creamy, loaded with clams, and has a great jalapeno kick. And, I fully intend to go back for it. On a follow-up visit, the fish tacos (fresh, flaky cod) were a win (although a bit of guacamole would have made them really shine), but unfortunately, the Crab and Shrimp Louie lacked the same personality (it was bland and underwhelming). OPL is such local popular fun hang out pub/ bar. It serves great drinks, casual dining, and host many cool awesome live music venues & local line dancing events. What I like most here is the clean and huge outdoor areas both front and the back of the bar. It's perfect for a sunny day or a foggy evening! Delicious food can be ordered by the side of the bar. My absolute favorites at OPL are the amazing slushies, the breakfast açaí/granolas/ berries smoothies, and fish n chips. Heard about the fish curry. Will try it someday soon. Went in and asked if we were in the right place, was told 'come on in', plenty of seating for 500. We went into the bar and maybe 25-30 could squeeze into the bartop tables. The front area had 4-5 tables and then a huge outdoor area but it was cold and windy. I used the disgusting bathroom and we decided to go somewhere else. read more

I tried to like this place. I've been coming to this area for years, I usually go to Jetty Wave across the street. But me and my partner decided to give this place another shot. I actually really love a dive bar, but let me tell you, this place is awful. We had our dog with us and asked if it was ok to bring them in, the dude at the bar had super attitude and said "in the back" without making eye contact like he was sawpped with customers, even tho there were 3 people at the bar, and a guy WITH A DOG at his feet. We went out back and ordered a beer and our glass was dirty and the beer had stuff floating at the bottom. The best! There is nothing about this place that has become Carmelized like many of the shops and restaurants in HMB. OPL has character, not a sanitized like most of HMB has/is beginning. Recently there was a restaurant at the harbor below OPL that was drastically upscaled. Not happy to just have a restaurant with tourist food they added a fish market and cantina. I was just there today trying to spend some time until my bf got off work. I like to play pool, so I was disappointed when I got there and the pool tables shown on the website aren't actually there. Since it was lunchtime I got lunch ($10 Tip on a $17 order). Got a drink- $10 tip on a $12.15 drink. Played with the owner's lovely dog - Australian cow dog several times. I asked the owner if I could bring my Australian shepherd (she was in the car) in for a few minutes to play with his dog. He said no, but I could take my dog out back and he would let his dog out to play. As I walked out to my car, I finally got the message. If I was 20, and weighed 100 lb, me and my dog prob could have stayed until closing. But 100 more lbs and 45yr later, not treated that way in this supposed "pet friendly" place. We came here on a semi-rainy day with our dog and sat in the large back yard! I was craving seafood so we got the fish tacos Baja style grilled (yum! The red cabbage was almost creamy) and the fish and chips were a bit more decadent but with a hell of a lot of fish. We also split a grilled cheese which was surprisingly delicious and came with a side of fries. We chose to get the vegetable of the day which was as Brussels sprouts. They were topped with Parmesan and were a good attempt although a little greasy for my liking. The woman at the counter was super nice and answered all my questions about the different fish options. You can even order a side of cod on a salad if you want something super healthy. I thought the backyard was nice and there was a fire pit. This is typical of Bay Area , one slice toast and 2 bacon but the price runs the same as a full breakfast. The meal and large Diet Coke was just under 19 bucks. However it was very well cooked and very enjoyable Seating inside and out with beach vibe. TV playing some sports and a nice sunny day. For sure with the stop in Did I say how great the people are ? We ordered clam chowder, poke bowl ( meal) and kids burger. 1- Chowder- Very good, better than most places. Not watered down, big clam strips, jalapenos and bacon **chef's kiss** 2- Poke bowl- Big, filling, most def shareable. Worth the buy. 3- Kids burger- My kiddo said "I give them 5 stars" and devoured her burger. If you ask for water, they do not add ice ( I went to the bar and grabbed a cup of ice, no big deal), dogs are welcome inside and out.
