The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about their products and the prices are discounted. I always feel welcome here. I feel the person in the previous review really stepped over boundaries when she personally attacked the manager in their review. This is a disgrace. I checked out the reviewer's profile and it appears all she does is post mean~spirited, negative reviews at just about every place she goes. I would not take her reviews seriously and to heart. Someone should yelp HER!

Banh mi Ba was closed today because they aren't open on Tuesday so I decided to get a sandwich from the Good Earth deli. It was meant to be a tofu banh mi -- It was on sourdough baguette with a pair of massive slabs of baked tofu. I give them credit for the delicious Japanese style pickle, but there simply wasn't enough of it and the scanty slices of daikon were OK, but ultimately this was better as a salad without the bread and added vinaigrette myself. Those chunks of tofu were undeniably tofu, but it was just not a great sandwich experience. The funny thing is, I had asked a couple of men dining outside the grocery store. If there was anything they recommended at the deli. They both told me what they had ordered and suggested requesting extra barbecue sauce for the brisket because it's quite dry. I was not expecting my tofu sandwich to be so dry but also soggy. I'll stick with Banh mi Ba for my banh mi -- and try other things at good earth going forward. Also, I just want to note that last November on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, my tire was vandalized by somebody who stuck a knife into it twice in on purpose purposes of the sidewall. They do not have cameras on the parking lot and even Fairfax police said "oh well we can't take reports for things that happened on private property" which honestly makes me wonder what they do when somebody breaks into a house or does something on "private" property. Does that mean laws are not enforced on private property in Fairfax? Stay tuned.

I am breaking up with Whole Foods for good. This is my Dear…read moreJohn letter. I've been going to the East Blythedale Whole Foods since the day it opened. We had such happy times at first. I live two blocks away, so me and my partner are there enough that most employees know us by sight. I recently broke my right wrist and sprained my left shoulder (Actually on the broken sidewalk behind Whole Foods lol). I was at the self checkout, on the phone with my elderly mother. The employee on duty, a heavy, balding, late middle aged man with a grey goatee just stood there as I dropped an item (a bar of soap!) and watched me struggle to pick it up without so much as acknowledging my existence. I made a joking remark to my mother about it, paid and started to leave. Then he decided to start waving his arms and demanding I come back as if I'd robbed a bank. He was as loud and attention getting as he could be. He tells me to pay for my items. I look at the register and it said "Approved". I pointed this out to him and begin to leave. Instead of apologizing, he says loudly "I guess you're lucky!" That's when I knew it was over. Anyone who knows this store knows it's like an abusive relationship. They take you for granted, treat you like crap and just assume you will keep coming back. They don't make an effort to put it nicely. Well, I'm done. Ever since I met Good Earth, I've felt ashamed to keep returning to Whole Foods just out of convenience. I can't help but think his behavior was based on the fact that l have tattoos and facial piercings. Of course, they will still take my money. So that's it Whole Foods. The last straw. What a disappointment. This used to be my "go to" for food and health supplements, but no more. The…read morecustomer service has really gone downhill (rude and unhelpful and suspicious staff) and they're selling food that is NOT FRESH. Let me start with those sunflower and date cookies that are supposed to be "freshly baked." Not so. Stale as can be! And the store refused to take them back or offer a refund or store credit. The "organic" white and yellow popcorn. STALE! I tried 3 different methods of popping with stale results all 3 times. Staff's reaction? Defensiveness and no offer of a reasonable solution...had to "match" the price to another item of the same value. Ridiculous. Honestly, I thought I was in Farmer Joe's for a minute! Finally, that bulk "large flake" yeast can be sketchy looking. Strange dark blotches of who-knows-what mixed in. This I did not take back...I just threw it out. Parking is fairly plentiful in the strip mall it's located in. Stepping inside you'll find a nice market with many different products such as produce, a small salad bar, olive bar, groceries and drinks as well as a deli. Everything looked really good quality. We chose two Tuscan veggie sandwiches which were already prepared in the deli case and looked incredible. The helpful deli counter employee recommended that they were best heated up and offered to do so while we looked around. Soon our sandwiches were warm and off we went. The sandwich was delicious. Absolutely a delight to the senses. Visually it was fresh and vibrant. The layers were impressive. The taste, amazing. The olive tapenade, pesto, greens and veggies were delicious. It's been a while since I've had such a delicious sandwich. We both were saying "yum, mmm" with each bite. Epic sandwich. The service was great. I highly recommend Shelton's Natural Foods market.
