I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Safelite was disappointing from start to finish. My original windshield replacement appointment was scheduled for a Saturday between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM. No technician ever showed up, and I couldn't get anyone on the phone. I was later told the missed appointment was due to a "computer error." After my appointment was rescheduled, the technician arrived on time and completed the windshield replacement. Before the appointment, my vehicle started and operated normally with no battery issues. Immediately after the windshield replacement was completed, my car would not start because the battery was dead. This happened as soon as the service was finished and created another major inconvenience. What has been most frustrating is the lack of customer service afterward. I was told someone would contact me to discuss my concerns and make things right, but no one ever followed up. I waited for the promised call, but it never came, leaving me to follow up myself. Mistakes can happen, but it's how a company responds that matters. Missing my original appointment, the battery issue that occurred immediately after the service, and then failing to honor a promised follow-up reflects a disappointing level of customer service and accountability. I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding my experience with Alvaro, who identified himself as the manager at your location. Alvaro called me to ask if I could move my appointment to an earlier time because the technician would not be able to complete the work on my vehicle by 5:00 PM and needed to clock out at that time. I asked a very reasonable question: if the work could not be completed by 5:00 PM, why was I given a 3:30 PM appointment in the first place? Alvaro responded that he did not know because he was "not a scheduler." He then proceeded to tell me, in a very rude and dismissive manner, that I could still come to my appointment, but the work would not be completed and I would have to bring my vehicle back another day. The reason given was essentially that he wanted to leave by 5:00 PM because it was Friday. I asked to speak with a supervisor, at which point he told me that he was the manager. As a manager myself of two dental practices, I understand the importance of customer service, accountability, communication, and making sure appointments are properly scheduled based on the time needed to complete the service. This is not how I would expect a manager to handle a customer or represent a business. Ultimately, I had to contact my insurance company myself and have them locate and send me to another location because your location could not honor the appointment that had been scheduled for me. I strongly encourage your company to review this situation and reconsider whether Alvaro is the appropriate person to be representing your business in a management position. Promoting someone to a management role who handles customers in this manner can ultimately hurt the business and drive customers elsewhere -- which is exactly what happened in my case. I am not upset that an appointment needed to be adjusted; I am upset by the way the situation was handled. Scheduling an appointment at 3:30 PM and then telling a customer that the job cannot be completed because an employee needs to leave at 5:00 PM should never have happened in the first place. The dismissive and rude communication afterward only made the situation worse. I hope management takes this complaint seriously and uses it as an opportunity to address both the scheduling issue and the way customers are being treated. read more

I made an appointment online, gave my info, and was quoted a price. Got a 10am appt on a Saturday. I arrived early on a rainy Saturday morning. Germaine, my Tech, came to greet me and said he would get started as soon as possible. They got the windshield replacement with recalibration done in slightly over 2 hours. Great job. Why did I choose Safelite? Well, AAA recommended Safelite. But also because back in 2020, I used a small shop in Alameda that had great Yelp reviews. They took over a month to fix my windshield. They said they couldn't get the right parts. So this time, I tried a major chain for auto glass repair. It was the right choice. It's a big shop with several techs working. The waiting area is spacious, with water and coffee available. The restroom is neat and clean. Non-stop Family Feud reruns on the TV and Free WiFi. I had a great experience at this Safelite shop in North Oakland and I would use them again. read more

Funny enough, I had just replaced this windshield about a year ago, so my luck with windshields clearly continues. One star might be generous. I booked a mobile install with these guys yesterday. I was given a 4-hr window where I had to be home so didn't go into my office and changed my schedule to accommodate. Not only did they never show up, I did not receive a call or text to let me know they were not showing up. As the window was closing, I'm the one who called to get a status and the store told me the installer was running behind. So I continued to wait, even beyond the install window, thinking they'd still show up (or call or text). This morning (next day), I called first thing and all they could tell me was that the technician noted that he called me but that I wasn't available or I didn't answer which is not true as evidenced by my call logs. Awful business and piss poor customer service. Plenty of other auto glass shops in Oakland who do better for less so I'm happily taking my business elsewhere. read more

I recently came here to get my windshield replaced after having a large crack in it. I showed up 10 minutes late to my appointment (which I know was on me). However, I didn't contact them as I assumed there is usually a 10 minute buffer period. I then proceeded to have to wait another 20 minutes before being helped and I was the only person in the waiting room. They fixed my car up relatively quickly which I was grateful for. However, once I began driving I could hear air coming into my car and could feel a draft. I got out of my car and realized that the windshield was completely off center which was causing the draft. I ended up going to another shop to get it fixed and immediately upon seeing it they told me the person who installed it did it terribly. This shop was extremely unprofessional from the initial waiting after already having an appointment, to completely installing my windshield incorrectly. Even looking at it you could tell it was messed up meaning they saw it and still allowed me to drive out of the shop with a messed up windshield. I went to another Safelite location since I wasn't able to get a refund and they did a pretty good job. I would say Safelite is still okay to get it done at just DO NOT GET IT AT THIS LOCATION! read more

They have every incentive to make your chip worse so that you have to do a bigger repair. I went in to repair a chip. They said it was a 1% chance that it will grow. Surprise - it did end up growing. I wanted a refund since this is what they guarantee. But its only applied as credit to repair the whole windshield with them. If its truly a low percentage chance that the chip will grow, why not offer a full refund? They benefit in doing a bad job which they did. This is why I can't trust them to fix the windshield. These guys were so nice, and did a perfect job on my windshield. It was an insurance replacement for two cracks. You never know how bad your old one is until you get a new one. One of the mechanics even offered to get me lunch off the nearby truck. So you know, I'm not poor, I'm not a girl, I'm a regular plain old, doing fine guy. So zero motivation other than being nice. I don't know how expensive it was because I have insurance for my windshield (probably covered under comprehensive, which I recommend). I've gone to other companies in the past who also did a good job, but this- wow. And it was a complicated windshield, it's not just glass replacement because these days they have to be calibrated because of all the technology in them. Nice waiting room too. Safelite AutoGlass in Rocklin gave me outstanding service from the moment I pulled into the shop. My windshield had been cracked and replaced weeks earlier by a Safelite technician who came to my place of work in Roseville. He did an excellent job. The quality of the windshield and wipers gave me clear visibility on the road. The reason I went to Safelite Rocklin was because I noticed condensation inside and outside the windshield in the morning and evening when the temperature dropped. I worried that the seals were not tight enough and were causing air/condensation to seep in. I am embarrassed to say that I do not remember the names of the 3 men who assisted me when I arrived. First the Front Desk, then the one who actually removed the windshield, checked the seals, determined they were perfectly tight but was more than willing to replace the windshield, to which I said no (I think he was Mike), and lastly the young man who drove my car out of the service area to the parking lot so that I could leave (I want to say Ryan?). In any case, I would highly recommend Safelit AutoGlass Rocklin if your windshield is cracked due to highway driving and debris flying. I said isn't this the same company, and she said it's a different company. Find a mom and pop shop that's well rated on Yelp. They are responsive over phone and email. When I was referred to Safelite by AAA, I was so glad that the place was welcoming and helpful. We completed the booking on line and got severe reminders - all useful- about my upcoming appointment. I arrived early, because I tend to , and was professionally and warmly welcome by the front desk manager. The person who was going to do the repair came and checked it out with me and from there I had a choice of waiting in the AC /tv/ coffee/ bathroom waiting area or I could also just take a walked and would have been kept updated by text. Anyways I chose to wait which leads me to tell you that those guys work hard and are extremely professional. So why 4 and 5 star? Because the price I received the very morning of the repair compared to the booking price (all were inclusive of taxes) was higher $120. Yes, we've all seen the commercials on local news; the Safelite autoboys and footage of the Golden Gate and Chinatown--it couldn't be a great service right? Well, in my experience it was really great not to mention convenient. After years of dodging rocks and debris along the 880 and i5 hell-zones (see my 2016 review of the 880), my precious Volvo finally got a chip. I was panicking a bit because repairs on volvos can get very pricey and I also have semi-autonomous driving features which I was worried would require a recalibration, so I quickly calmed myself by first trying a chip-repair with safelite instead of going to volvo dealerships. I made the appointment online and from that point on got text alerts and good communication--the price was fair (about 180 for them coming to me and fixing it). Throughout the process, I appreciated the invoices and how it was all arranged. On the day of the appointment, which was within a day or two of when I wanted it, Oziel came over in my garage with the kit to attempt the fix. Now, I'm not going to lie, there's a chance of the window cracking and getting worse with chip repair--this is because they apply pressure, vacuum, etc. to your window. So, after signing the disclosure and release, I went for it. Took about 10 minutes or less. Needless to say, the chip was essentially fixed and it has not gotten worse over about 5,000 miles of various driving. I was impressed and would recommend this service. Some things to keep in mind: Fix your chip ASAP from when it happened--for me, I only drove about 15 min after the rock hit me. Also, be aware that in many cases the crack may get worse and you will have to eventually have it replaced. I attached a few photos of my chip with a bottle cap for size reference. read more

I used Safelite to repair my glass that became cracked. My appointment was set up with my insurance GEICO and the company immediately reached out to me. The Oakland location gave me a timeframe for when they'll come to my home to make the repair. On the day scheduled the technician Thomas called first thing in the morning to let me know exactly what time he would be coming and throughout the day he kept me posted on the time, if he would be running a little bit late or coming early. When he arrived, he was very professional, in uniform, very courteous, very personable and very nice to my dog and let me know that the replacement will take about an hour and then he'll have to drive the car to recalibrate it. The entire process was smooth throughout. I inputted my payment information(deductible) through the system so once he was done, it was already there. Thomas emailed my receipt, gave follow up instructions as far as when I will be able to drive or take the car to be detailed, and the warranty information for any follow up issues. We chatted and that was it. I definitely... well hopefully I won't need to anymore but if I do or if I know someone who does, definitely will recommend this location, thanks Thomas. read more

I am beyond frustrated with the lack of customer service and attention to my faulty windshield that Safelite installed last November. I repeatedly called customer service, spent hours on the phone only to be directed back to the same assistant manager who continued to insist that Safelite had done a good job despite the fact that my early crash warning system no longer functioned after the windshield replacement. I asked twice to speak with the district manager and was told he would call me back and I am still waiting months later to hear from him. I had my windshield replaced at Safelite Oakland in November. I was concerned about having Safelite do the work rather than the dealer because of the early crash warning system contained within the glass, but I was assured it would be calibrated to dealer standards. When Safelite replace the windshield it seemed fine but days later I realized on the freeway that the early crash warning system did not make the usual warning sound nor light up unless I almost touched the car in front of me. I returned to Safelite and they recalibrated the camera in the windshield. But when I left I discovered that it still did not work. Safelite then told me to come down right away to have someone drive with me to see the problem. When I got there no one was available to drive with me. When I complained that they had just told me to come down they then scheduled me to have the whole windshield replaced a few days later. When I returned for the scheduled appointment, the assistant manager told me they were not going to do anything on my car because nothing was wrong with it and it had passed all their tests. They did not bother to call me the day before to cancel the 8 am appointment, nor did they want to ride in the car to see how it wasn't working, nor did they take my word for it. I then took the car to the dealer to see if they could fix the problem. Within two hours they fixed the crash warning system and I was charged $285. I requested reimbursement from Safelite and provided them receipts but the assistant manager refused, saying they did nothing wrong as if I was making it all up because I had nothing better to do with my time or money. I will never go to Safelite again under any circumstances. Though the mechanics were courteous the management was rude an unreasonable. Please steer clear of this establishment. read more

I used them to repair the windshield on one of our cars and they worked quickly and got it done even with the appointment at 5 pm (I expected I was going to have to leave the car overnight). Then several months later, I came back for a warranty appointment because of some water leaking. It turned out to not be the windshield, but the techs went above and beyond to find the real cause and clean out the sunroof ducts. Appreciate the quality work and extra effort! read more
