I have a '91 VW Vanagon Westfalia Syncro that I bought with a cracked windshield. Safelite gave me a good price on the replacement. The part wasn't in stock anywhere in the area - had to be shipped from California and apparently the first one broke in transit. Second attempt was a success! Scheduling and rescheduling was fairly easy and they were proactive and communicated in a very timely manner each instance and step along the way. The staff was helpful and friendly and they have a fair amount of space for folks to wait plus coffee and chips to snack on. Very happy with the results. read more

I made an appointment with Safelite for a windshield replacement. Checked with my insurance and was scheduled and set for today. My window was 8am -1pm. I got about 6 texts and emails confirming my appointment, even one this morning stating- Today is the day! Well, after waiting all day, I got a no-show from Safelite. I called them and they couldn't get customer support on the phone to ask where my technician was, so she gave me his number to text. I texted Kevin 3 times and never heard from him. Not even a simple, I'm sorry, I got behind. Nothing. No follow up, not contact whatsoever. If I could rate them zero stars I would. Big waste of my time. I rescheduled with a different company. During the installation, they broke one of my windshield wipers. I told them about it, and they said that they had repaired it. They did not. During a subsequent rain storm, the wiper flew off and left a long, deep scratch on the new windshield. Additionally, they broke several of the cosmetic parts attached to the windshield and never replaced them. read more

I contacted my insurance company USAA and they listed this company as a trusted partner. I checked the price on their website and it listed $299 for windshield replacement. I didn't receive a quote once they started the work but when they were done I received a bill for $950 on an aftermarket windshield on a 2012 Ford pickup. Safelite knew my deductible is $1000 which is concerning. They never gave me a reason why they charged me so much more than the quote on their website. I scheduled an appointment for a front windshield replacement, because the front was cracked from side to side. I chose the option for a mechanic to come to my home and replace the windshield there. I went to work while Justin replaced the windshield, and when I came back it was raining. I thought, well I'm glad he finished the job before the rain started. I was in for a ride of disappointment. I got to my vehicle, and I couldn't even open my doors with my remote key. I used my spare physical key to get in my car, and I find that all my windows were left open, so my car was drenched on the inside. When I tried to turn on my car and close the windows, all I heard were clicks from the battery. I was extremely frustrated. I then get a jumpstart from my mom, luckily she was abailable to help get my battery running again. As I'm looking around in the engine bay, I see that the rain guard for the engine, which was attached to the old windshield, wasn't placed back on the new windshield correctly. At this point, my car interior was getting wet from the rain, rain was falling off the windshield INSIDE the engine bay and on top of my battery, my battery was dead, and as soon as I get my battery jumpstarted, the windshield wipers activate then the pieces fall of and the metal part of the wipers begin scratching the new windshield and making a horrible noise. I go into Safelite on Douglas Ct, and I mention these problems calm and collected to the front. They get very defensive and tell me my battery is probably old, and that none of what happened is Justin's fault. Sure, so I guess I did all that to my own car? Anyways, don't trust Safelite, they don't have your back, and the two guys in the customer service team had the most horrendous attitude out of any place I've given my money to. Justin, however, was very kind the entire time and he even came back to help with some stuff to make up for his mistakes. I just wasted two hours driving to get my rear window replaced. Wrong part ordered. Shop guy says happens all the time due to central call center in Ohio placing the orders. They say they can't call the customer prior to the arrival to confirm proper part (why not?). The shop front desk person said "they really can't tell the exact part/window needed until they see the truck. What?! Then why did I waste my time ordering in the first place with call center? And there is no phone number to call the shop directly. You have to go through the call center in Ohio. The same that orders the wrong parts all the time according to the workers there. We went with another company. We provided the other reputable company with the VIN and my description. They ordered and 24 hours later they are on their way to my house (I don't have to drive to the shop like Safelight required) and it is OEM MOPAR Factory glass from the car manufacturer. Based on these reviews I would say insurance companies and customers are left in the dust. It's obvious all responses to these complaints are generic and Safelight really doesn't care at all. I will be letting USAA know of their poor service and to take them off preferred vendor. Ridiculous. Nobody there cares. Poor management. Poor quality service all the way around. Avoid Safelite at all costs! I paid for a windshield repair on 11/11/2024, trusting their so-called 'expert service' and 'money-back guarantee.' Not only did the repair fail completely, but the crack expanded across my windshield, and have to replace the entire thing. When I contacted customer service, they claimed they would 'forward my request to management.' That was over a month ago, and despite multiple follow-ups, they have completely ignored me. No refund, no response, just silence. This is unacceptable and a complete lack of integrity. Safelite clearly does NOT stand behind their work. Their 'guarantee' is a scam, and their customer service is nonexistent. If you value your money and your vehicle, go anywhere else. DO NOT trust this company! read more

Harsh chemicals ruined buttons.. They replaced the glass in our car, had some problems calibrating the cameras, but eventually go it synced. Glass looks good, but they didn't clean anything. My major issue is they had to come back 3 times and drove our car around for 45 minutes and when we got it back we noticed the paint on a couple buttons were covered in some type of chemical - probably glue or adhesive remover and it stripped the paint off the buttons! This is a 7 series BMW with low mileage car 40k, and this happened over 1 week period after having our glass was replaced. Don't recall seeing this as a common factory issue with low mileage. read more

Scheduled an appointment a week before I needed the repair. Specifically scheduled the appointment because I had the time off of work already so I wouldn't need my car. Confirmed the appointment that Monday. On Wednesday (the day before the appointment) I get a call while I'm at work and can't answer my phone. Checked the voicemail when I had the chance, sounded like a butt dial. Next I get a text stating my appointment was rescheduled for that Saturday, a day I had plans on, and where it was supposed to rain all day (which it did), with no reason given. Not asking if I would like to reschedule with any sort of information why it needed to be. Flat out saying it was. I call them to clarify I can't reschedule my appointment I need it done when I scheduled it. That is when I was finally told the reason for my appointment being moved, they didn't have the windshield I would need. They weren't even sure it would make it to the time of the new appointment. After a bunch of run around from the customer service representative I cancelled my appointment. I was able to schedule with another repair shop within my time frame, that also came out to my house. It ended up being $200 cheaper than what Safelite quoted me. Lesson I learned- do better research, don't just go off a catchy jingle. Lesson I hope Safelite learns- better communication. read more

My windshield got broken on my way from WV to the Dulles airport where I was flying out of the country. With no spare time, I put a temporary glue down to try to stop the crack from spreading and set up an appointment through my insurance. They mistakenly set it up for the day I flew back into the country (where I didn't arrive until 7:30 PM!). I thought it was scheduled for the day after I arrived. Missed it. They rescheduled it for the day after I thought it was, but I couldn't wait as I had work and a doctors appt. Scheduled an appointment through my car insurance for a repair. Go to the appointment, guy says it can't be repaired and that it needs to be replaced, fine. He schedules me a new appointment and I drive all the way back home after being there for 2 min. I go at 7am for my new appointment a week later. Guy says it's still on their books for a repair and that the previous guy didn't schedule it correctly. So I once again drove all the way out to this location just to turn around and go home! I came to Safelite to have my windshield repaired and maybe I should have done a at home service. I took my car to Safelite in perfect condition besides the windshield and later that day came back and my car was damaged unsure by whom so insurance wasn't able to help too much but I was able to get it fixed with insurance. After though I finally got my car back after three weeks and decided to go for a car wash since it's been way past the recommended days of not to get one after replacing the windshield. My car started to leak water during the car wash because the window wasn't sealed properly. I was able to take it back to Safelite this time they were fairly helpful and scheduled me for a warranty update to get the windshield fixed so my car doesn't get leaked into with water. My upholstery is damage that I do have to get that fixed if I ever plan on selling my car. Which Safelite does not cover though the damage was caused by the lack of making sure my window was properly sealed. Besides that my window did come back in great condition and I could see that the front desk employees were very overwhelmed and doing their best. Though when it comes to my windshield ever getting damaged again I may not be returning to the specific shop or safelite. read more

I had tried to schedule an appointment for a tech to come out to me- there were literally ZERO appointments for a tech to come out to me no matter what dates I searched which I thought was really weird considering their commercials are all about the convenience of their ability to come to you. I decided to bite the bullet and schedule an appointment to bring my car in. I got quoted right under $900. Since this is my first time needing a windshield replacement I assumed that was standard.. I was talked into shopping around and after receiving five other quotes ALL were at least $200 cheaper and offered to come to me- one company even offered to come to me from an hour away. I normally don't leave reviews but this place has me wanting to warn others. I had a chip in my windshield which they fixed in Feb 2023. Two cracks sprouted from their fixed chip. We took it in and their technician said it needed a full replacement. We pointed out that it was from their original repair. An appt was made for two weeks later. When we came for our appt they told us that their lifetime guarantee doesn't cover the repair. The cracks sprouted from their so called repair and they said the repairs may not be good. I was expecting better from a national company but it seems they don't guarantee their work and their lifetime guarantee is a joke.now the crack has extended all the way across the windshield. Avoid this shop and company at all costs. It took a while to find an appointment that actually worked with their ridiculous arrival windows. Finally found a 8-1 window I could make work. The day came and by 130 I still hadn't heard a word from anyone. I tried calling the main number and got transferred and hung up on twice. Finally got through to someone who said the tech was running late and would be there by 230. 230 comes and goes, finally around 3 the tech calls and says he is on his way and gets there about 330. He sets everything up and then realizes he doesn't have the right windshield and needs to reschedule. I said fine, and he said he could be there tomorrow. I get a confirmation email that evening with the next day time slot in the afternoon. I rearranged my schedule to make it work. Then that afternoon I get an email from them that the appointment was rescheduled to the next day, which there was no way I could make work. i tried calling the main number again, only to be "greeted" by one of the rudest people I ever talked to, who then transferred me to this shop location. Except it just sat on hold for 30 minutes. At that point I gave up and cancelled it. Find another company to use. read more

Safelite replaced our window and it cracked 3 weeks later because they bound the glass. The crack emanated from below the cover strip into the window; and a few days later a chip appeared in same area. I told my wife she should have taken a picture of it; but she went down to Safelite and of course bc she's a woman those aholes figured they could blame the chip on road hazard and not faulty installation. I worked in the industry and I know what was wrong and should have went with her. These people suck and I should waste a day of my time with a sign in front of their business " Sheisters! Had an appointment at 11am, got there 5 mins earlier. When the appointment was booked, service time was 1 to 3 hours as shown before booking. When I got there, they told me it's 6 hour job minimum. I still dropped it off but now I had to uber back home and uber back since they don't provide a service and had quoted their time wrong. I never received a call that my car was ready, I called them 40 mins before they were due to close and then they told me it will be ready at closing time. I got there at 458pm (they close at 5pm) and it was still not ready. It is now 556pm and it's just getting ready. This experience was horrible, I would not recommend this location. read more

Had wife's windshield replaced in July. '22 RX350. A short time later I was driving her car on a Sunday when one of those heavy rains came out of nowhere. The auto wipers engaged and within about 5 seconds they were going full speed. Suddenly, out of nowhere the wipers, at full speed, crossed and tangled and both blades broke and arm on right stopped operating and was in the "up" position, as you would do if expecting snow. The left operated but the violent engagement with the right wiper blade snapped it in half and was dangling and whipping as it continued at high speed in the heavy rains. I had no clue what had happened, initially thinking something struck the windshield with force based on how violent the wipers were fighting each other. This was a Sunday and luckily I was about a mile from Pohanka. I wasn't thrilled having to take it to the dealership but it was still raining very hard and it was a real safety concern. Turns out, the tech who replaced the windshield FAILED TO TIGHTEN THE WIPER ARMS TO THE MOTOR after they replaced the windshield. Since they were closed on Sunday, I called on Monday and was told the manager would reach out within 48 hours. Just to make sure, I drove over to the Safelite location and let them make a copy of the $300 receipt so they would have it on record. I was told manager would call. Nobody called. I gave it 3 days and called back. Spoke to a girl who said she would get the info to the district manager who would call me. Nobody called. I called today to find out why nobody was calling me about this and I was told the district manager has seen it, and declined payment because I "didn't return it to safelite for repairs". How could I? It was SUNDAY and I was in a huge storm. Safelite isn't open on Sunday and I had no clue when it happened what the cause was. Gross negligence and Safelite can't even call me back? This won't end with this revue but serves as a starting point for further action. Think twice before using this location. I've used them before, not sure which location because they came to the house. This was the first time we had to do it in shop. I honestly thought they'd offer a huge apology and immediately offer to take care of the $$ considering when and why the wipers ripped each other apart. Nothing. Not a peep. read more

These guys completely ripped me off for a windshield replacement at the Sterling, VA location. I was quoted a rate in the low 400 range, I went to pick my car up and they charged me 900 dollars. They claim the reason they doubled the number I was quoted was due to the fact that a camera had to be recalibrated as well. At no point in time was that additional service discussed with me. Had I known these additional charges were going to come up I would've taken my business elsewhere. They did not communicate with me or even leave so much as a voicemail to let me know what was going on. I had scheduled a warranty replacement for a defective windshield previoulsy installed by Safelite in Sterling Virginia. I made arrangements to work from home for the installation window they gave noon to 5pm. A tech called me at 10:00 ish to see if he could come by early. Unfotunately I was at the office. I was told someone would be out during the pre arranged window of noon to 5. I was home by Noon as planned. No one contacted me and no one showed up. I called customer service and was put on a lengthy hold. Eventually their service picked up an told me they are closed. Be aware it is almost impossible to speak to a customer service agent and obviously they are not worried baout the customers time or keeping scheduled appoinments. read more

Terrible experience! Please read and save yourself time. I entered a quote request on-line for a front windshield replacement. I got the quote in a timely manner. I received an appointment time for 11:30 on a Saturday. I called two days before my appointment to ensure they would use OEM glass for my replacement, and I was told they had OEM in stock. My car was dropped off at 8am (several hours before my appt. time) at the Sterling VA location. I was told it would take 3 hours to complete the job. The gentleman checking me in was not friendly and appeared he would rather be somewhere else. When I did not get a call from Safelite by 3pm that day, I tried to call the Sterling location, but the number went to voicemail. There was no "active" number to call on a Saturday, listed on their website. This was so frustrating. My husband and I drove to Safelite at 4pm before they closed at 5pm. When I arrived, my car had not been touched. I had received no call from Safelite letting me know there was problem. The same underwhelming gentleman working the front desk never looked up to greet me. He just said, "oh yeah, there was a problem", like he was talking to his computer screen! When I asked him to tell me what the problem was, he finally looked up and told me, the glass they had in stock was damaged. I asked why wasn't I called? He looked at his co-worker and they both seemed dumbfounded. His coworker attempted to look at his computer to see why I had not gotten a phone call. He apologized, but the other guy was so lackadaisical in his responses, it was clear he didn't care, and he didn't want to be at work. The whole experience was the worst. I left unhappy and disappointed in the lack of customer service and care. I don't even want to give it one star. Extremely disappointed customer. read more

Horrible service! They had to come back after they ordered the wrong windshield. Once they ordered the correct windshield the tech showed up and was nice. He tried to take off the internal mount around my mirror and snapped a piece off that permanently damaged the housing. I called their customer service and they sent another tech out that did nothing! My car mirror mount is still broken. I called my insurance and was told all I can do is work with Safelite's customer service. I tried to call them and got nothing. I will try one more time tomorrow. The only way I think it will be fixed is to send it to the dealership to replace the damaged mount. Let's see what they say. read more

A rock strike left me with a crack just long enough to fail the state inspection. My insurance company directed to me to Safelite which, if I could rewind the clock, I'd have run far, far away from. The first piece of glass was substandard, cheap, and incompatible with my car's sensors. During its installation this shop broke the plastic shroud around the cameras/sensors in front of my rearview mirror. They did not replace the shroud. When I picked up the car the interior was filthy with dirt and fingerprints all over my interior A-pillars. A second piece of glass was ordered and installed a couple of weeks later. During that repair Safelite broke a piece of roof trim that's directly adjacent the windshield, and failed to bolt in place the giant plastic shroud that runs along the bottom of the windshield. I now have a four foot piece of plastic that's held onto the car by luck and crossed fingers. I'm working with Progressive to get somebody from this shop to contact me in order to complete the repair and restore my car to the state it was in when I first handed it over to Safelite. So far, no luck. read more
