I had used Auto Glass Express in the past with no issues, but today was a bit confusing. I had asked about getting work done today (Saturday), and was told it was possible. Around 1:30, I was told it could be done. Around 2:00, I asked about the latest I could bring it in, as they listed closing as 5:00. Around 2:15 I was told if I came in "now," they could get the job done. I immediately asked about timeframe to get it done, then, around 2:20, I said I could come in, and asked if I should. I didn't hear back for about five minutes (all this was via text), so decided to just head out. On my way, about 2:30, I was told not to come in, as they had decided to close early. Not sure why a shop would close early when there was a potential job on the way, but they did. I'm now looking for other options. read more

This review is based on pre service work only. I'd do not recommend using this company. The windshield in my RAV4 needed to be replaced because of an unfixable star. Called them last Friday as they are on my insurance company's list of vendors and they are in Chantilly like I am. They said they would call me back Monday and my phone never rang. I called them back Wednesday to find out what was going on and after some difficulty they found my claim. I asked why didn't they call and the guy said he wasn't in Monday. So why tell me you'll call? Plus he had Tuesday to call. Long story short, he said he was having difficulty with the referral from my insurance company. I told him that's not my problem and that based on that, the fact that he didn't call me back, and couldn't remember a conversation he had a few days ago leads me to believe they don't need or want my business. So I had another company (see other review) come out and try to fix my windshield 4 times and the last time they just gave up and said my car was junk. LOL I found Auto Glass Express (AGE) on Yelp and read some good reviews. I talked to them and told them my situation and they said they could help. My windshield was in perfect condition but the previous windshield company could not seal it. AGE said they can remove glass without breaking it and re-seal/install it which decreased the costs. They aren't "slow" but they do take their time to make sure install is perfect. They don't cut corners (like the other windshield place did) and are very professional. I was seeking a business that repair broken sunroof glass & came across Auto Glass Express. I called & was told to arrive at 1030am. I arrived at 1045am due to missing my exit. When I arrived, I was told that I had to come back at 1230 because there was only 1 technician due to the 2nd one calling out. Return at 1215, & it was still 1240ish before I was helped. It was the desk attendant (her name started with a P) that assessed the damage. While recommending to get a used sunroof glass, & the cost of labor, she also mentioned, "well there is another company that I could recommend you to because they cost less." I did not complain about the price at all, & kind of confused as to why I was being recommended elsewhere. She mentioned the technician placing a plastic covering over the broken glass, & I asked if the broken glass could be vacuumed out before covering it, & I was told "no". I just verbally agreed to a $600 invoice & being told "no" to vacuuming out broken glass in the sunroof area. I voiced my concerns about the quality of customer service, & she called the technician to ask about it. They were speaking in Spanish so I'm unsure of what was said, & he looks at me & says "$75" & I responded "to vacuum out some glass" & he said "yes" I laughed. He then asked for my keys to move my car, I asked if I could move it closer because I had not seen anyone sanitize their hands as they were going back & forth between multiple customer's vehicles. I wasn't pulling it in a bay because it was occupied, I was pulling behind that vehicle to get close to the shop vac, however, I was not paying $75 for 10 seconds of vacuuming. I also witnessed how they refused to give another customer his keys after he refused to pay for a damaged windshield that was installed (they offered a $30 discount on a $400 invoice). After questioning the $75 charge & hand hygiene practices, the technician told me "you can go" as he shewed me with hand gesture. I then asked the desk attendant for the manager's phone number, & the name of the other company that she was trying to recommend me to. She refused to give me the other company's info & stated "that is for customers only". As I was waiting for the manager's contact info, I made a few calls & found out that the technician on duty is actually the owner of the company. The technician was Santos Ortiz. I am really torn on whether I should give a 3.5 I took away stars for not laying down mats or pads on my car before starting the work, therefore causing paint chips on my hood and areas surrounding the windshield. UGH!! My mistake was not asking what kind of glass they were putting in. The quoted price was too good to be true so I took the bait. Alas, I now have a XYZ or XYG CHINA made windshield. The worker said they were going to put in a "special" order for my bmw then comes the day I bring my car in and they said that I need to buy the molding on top when I already paid for the "special" order so I had to come again the next day and waste a day of work. On top of that they made me pay for the molding when I thought everything was included when I purchased the "special" order mind you my starting price for the repair was 250$ then went to 380$ and at the end I had to pay almost 500 dollars. Now a few weeks later my break light falls off and I had to miss another days of work just to bring it back and they took almost 3 hours each visit I been here. I am 100% happy with my windshield replacement service. I've been a customer in the past of another nationwide chain that rhymes with "lafesite" but they told me that I would have to wait 6 days for their in-home service, or 4 days for an in shop appointment. The rep seemed to imagine that people replace windshields in their cars on a whim rather than in an emergency. If found this remote little shop who had my car's windshield in stock, and could give me an in-shop appointment with a few hours. The service was top notch and the technician was able to save my month old VA safety inspection sticker which saved me $16. Last time, "Lafesite's" tech handed me a paper towel filled with shattered glass and told me to take it up with the safety inspection station-you can guess how that went. The whole process took about 35 minutes and my windshield is guaranteed for 1 year. And Auto Glass Express did it for $200, $150 less than the $350 quote I got from "Lafesite" quote for service I would have to wait 4-6 days for. Auto Glass Express didn't try to upsell me on new washer blades like that rep for "Lafesite." Give this shop a try. They were really good to work with. read more

I saw a price on an aggregator site I found on Google, and the price seemed really low, so I contacted them through Yelp. The owner got back to me the next day with a quote that was only a few dollars more ($195 for a '05 Honda Civic) so I called and scheduled an appointment for the next day. I was told "sometime between 1:00 and 3:00." (Jobs take different amounts of time, so they need to leave a - wait for it - window. I'm here all week, folks.) The next day, I was at a playground when I got a call at 11:00 am that the installer was in my neighborhood and ready to get my windshield in. I reminded the employee who called me that the period they had told me was 1-3, and that I couldn't get home until 12:30 or so. I was told they would call the installer and see when he would be back and then call me to let me know. I headed home and got there about 12:20. At 1:00, the installer called me and said he'd be there around 3:00. This was obviously the outer limit of the tie frame they'd given me, but I figured it was close enough that I could let it slide without too much frustration. Around 3:00, the installer called me and told me he was in Fairfax and would be over in 40 minutes. I decided to go to the playground on the corner with the kids for a bit, and as we were walking over the guy pulled up to our house after about 15 minutes. I'd like to say it was nice that he got there earlier than he estimated, but when I heard 40 minutes, I assumed 40 minutes, which gave me a chunk of time to use. Sort of like the beginning of this whole episode when I got a call two hours early, and found out that since I wasn't available *early*, I'd be bumped back to *late*. The installer did a quick job, and I assume it was a well-done job, as no rain has leaked in, and the ghost pirates I keep in the car have not escaped. Good service on the front and back end, but my time is scheduled pretty tight, and being way early, then late, then early again threw my whole afternoon out of whack. My windshield had a chip and subsequently cracked once the temperatures started to swing (physics, I know, right?). Made an appointment and it took the guys at Auto Glass an hour and a half to get it done. They took the existing stickers off the old windshield and put them onto the freshly installed windshield.
