I am a man of color who was not only traumatized but racially profiled, discriminated against , and harassed at your local grocery market. Shannon. I entered the store with my Caucasian fiancé, to buy some spirits for our house and pick up our kid from the bus stop at the same time as it was cold and he stayed inside Safeway waiting for us to arrive as told. We got there and looked at the selection as Shannon walks by the and starts fondling with some of the store's inventory, she asks from afar if we needed any help, i said yes when we're ready can you bring the key over. She disappeared and moments later we were ready so we pressed the attendance button. We were waiting for multiple minutes. At this point i was taken aback when a young boy no older than 17 approached to assist us with the alcoholic beverages in the case. At the same time, we did not realize we were being profiled as thieves. The young boy got us the locked up items. The local sheriffs came by to answer Shannon's call, we were then detained without question, or reason. As I tried to step away the sheriff Madison he grabbed my arm and said, "You don't get to walk away from me.", I'm a 30 year old black man and was completely triggered by the physical contact and just wanted space clarity and safety. Keep in mind we had been in the store for about 5-10 minutes looking at what we wanted , we pressed the service button once and no one came. I don't know if they assumed we were playing with it called the police and said our kid put something in his backpack he was merely putting calogne on, bored/passing time as he is an impulsive child with high functioning autism spectrum disorder. We were waiting for such a long time. At this time i told them to go check the cameras and they found everything to be true. We simply walked into Safeway to meet our cold son from off the bus, buy something and got framed as thieves, my fiancé owns a hair salon and i am an independent artist, we are hard workers, we have no intention of taking anything from anyone that does not belong to us. My rights were violated, i was discriminated against and i ask for immediate investigation & action. Your employee's conduct was unacceptable. I hope her profiling me and my family will be found discriminatory, racist, unacceptable, and not what Safeway stands for - these employees need to face consequences for their actions. I understand wprecautions in regards to shoplifting but there were no reasons to assume we were doing anything other than shopping.

Stop for the...smell... leave without groceries! Ah Felton Safeway. It's like 'Bartertown' from that Mad Max movie... an odd assortment of humans who all are here for one thing...shopping. The store is near the homeless camps and so there is a lot of sketchy folks wandering around ( they have to employ a security guard ). And oh my gosh don't got to the bathroom there...step away slowly... run! They should put a poster of Dustin Hoffman from outbreak in his CDC outfit with a cartoon bubble saying "Run Away". I get it and acknowledge all this.... and that is not the point of this review. The reason I give Safeway 1 star is because of the following. I only shop there when driving back from a gig ( workin musician yo ) and they are open 24 hrs. Quick deli sandwich or whatevah and back on the road. I recently stopped after a show and walked in ( open doors...lights on ) shopped for about 10 minutes and then went to check out. Nobody home...(used to that)... rang the little bell. A tired graveyard worker shambled out and said "We're closed". Huh? This is new... never happened before. "Why are the doors open then? Your sign says open" Reply... "The cash registers update at 1 am and we're closed for 30 minutes" Wow Ok. Let's take a look at late night demographics and shopping traffic patterns. You can trust me as I have a degree in latenightdemographology (sounds like a Prince tune right!). Here's your clue ( for free even ) THE ONLY PEOPLE OUT ARE BAR AND CLUB PEOPLE WHO MIGHT WANT TO STOP AND SHOP. So here is a suggestion... -Setup your cash register update at 3 am when there are only coyotes and homeless people out and about. It would cause less impact to your customers who want to give you money. Orrrrrr... -If you can't do that then lock the doors so you customers don't waste their time. So Felton Safeway Bartertown... ONE MAN ENTER...ONE MAN LEAVE WITHOUT GROCERIES. MASTERBLASTER SAY EMBARGO ON FELTON SAFEWAY!! NO MORE SHOP THERE!!

What you need when you need it. Tons of foods, stocked deli and whereas it's a smaller store than we're used to it did the trick.

Horrible selection of produce, beer, and poor store lay out. I will drive to Scotts Valley for any grocery store needs.

Rotten vegetables, absurdly long lines, no bakery OR butcher. Guess I'll go to Scotts Valley for my Safeway needs...

Place isn't that bad, although the lines do get crazy. But overall not as bad as what all these other people are saying.

As you enter, you'll see the produce section, which is neat and very fresh looking. I bought a pack of avocados and each one was perfect. There are the usual market items (like meats, seafoods, chips, etc.), but few (if any) national brands. They also have some dinnerware, like bowls and such, made by local artisans. They looked really nice, and I was tempted to buy some but resisted. The star, though, is their deli. There's a good selection of premade sandwiches, salads, sushi, baked goods, and some hot food items. You can also have sandwiches made to order. They have a few "signature" sandwiches, but you can also build your own. My only small complaint is they only have vegan mayo. It's not bad, and not very noticeable, but it lacks the creaminess and flavor of real mayo. What we ordered: + Roaring Camp signature sandwich - this is turkey with cranberry relish on your choice of bread (I chose sliced sourdough). It was excellent. + Custom sandwich on sourdough roll - the roll was fantastic; slightly soft and chewy. Sandwich was excellent. + Potato salad - this was very dill heavy and a little runny (vegan mayo?), but after a few bites, it really grew on us. By the end, we were loving it. Everyone we encountered was very chill and friendly.

Organic all the way for many products here. I got a sandwich for a picnic. What a wonderful experience. The service was friendly and efficient. They don't add a lot of salt and pepper on the same, so feel free to pick up some packets if you are feeling particularly salty.
