One of my least favorite things to do is having to fill my tank up with gas. Unless you're the less than 5% of the population that drives an electric vehicle, then the majority of us find ourselves having to cope with inflated fuel prices; especially in the State of California. This is where "Safeway Fuel Station" comes to mind. The location I am focusing on is adjacent to the Safeway directly at the corner of Dewey Dr. and Madison Ave. in Fair Oaks. The main reason why I keep coming back here is that their prices are actually quite reasonable. And when I say reasonable, I mean they are just a few cents higher than Costco (in Citrus Heights) which can lead to much longer wait times. Additionally, this fuel station has very generous hours of operation being open for business 7 days a week from 5am-11pm. I do want to point out that if you pay with cash or use your debit card, prices are generally 10¢ lower than credit. And this applies to regular, plus, and premium. Furthermore, this fuel station also has pumps for diesel fuel. What I noticed in early-2023 is that they did a complete upgrade on their gas pumps and machines making it much easier to read. If you are a Safeway club member and do your fair share of shopping there, you are eligible for gas reward discounts. However, this is if you spend a LOT there meaning every $1000 spent gets you a 10¢ discount on your fuel. At least that is what I notice. Aside from that, this fuel station is never that busy and there are two different ways to enter/exit; through Madison Ave. or on Dewey Dr. With that said and done, I am being generous and giving the "Safeway Fuel Station" an above average four star rating. Prices are reasonable and usually fairly comparable to the other fuel station, "Kwik Serv" across the street. So to many that are on a budget and don't wish to spend more at Shell, Chevron, or 76, give this place a try. read more

I tried to fill my tank and it said to pay inside... and the gentleman was so rude to me saying said I tried to put my number in it I can't use the pump. And he said it says it on there... it does not say if you accidentally press anything at all it won't work.... So I guess the next person can't use it either?? So confused at this. It's not very often when I go to a gas station that is sponsored by a grocery store chain. I guess it's because I assume you have to be a loyal Safeway shopper in order to use their facility. But fortunately, that's not the case. I'm not one to notice a gas station until the time comes when the tank is on "E" and we are in desperate need of gas. Fortunately, this station was conveniently available right when we needed them and the gas was cheaper than some other nearby stations! Writing reviews about a gas station is not likely to be read by most people who are only searching for a nearby station and not particularly interested in individual experiences. But as a loyal Yelper, I always feel compelled to write something about a business that I patronize. As far as gas stations go, they fit the bill as being a good, solid filling station. They are conveniently located on a neighborhood corner in which they provide cheaper than most gas prices. Although it was busy, they had a sufficient number of pumps to keep customers moving along, with plenty of driving room to get around the lot. It was nice to have this place around when we needed them, especially when waiting until the last minute to get gas! read more

This is a pretty decent fuel station. It offers easy in and easy out driveways from two different streets. It is clean and seems safe. The small convenience store that's attached to the station offers all the regular snacks and lottery/lotto. The prices are average...not the highest and not the lowest. However, they offer 10 cent discount per gallon for each $100 spent in any of their grocery stores, combined, which is a big help when you can get up to $1 off per gallon. Safeway grocery has gotten more expensive compared to other stores so it is getting to be less competitive, so it makes me wonder if the gas discount is worth the extra grocery cost compared to if I went to a Walmart super store where the prices haven't increased as dramatically with inflation. I drive a Prius Prime, so a gas discount doesn't go as far, so I don't go out of my way to shop for the discount anymore. Maybe that will change when inflation stabilizes. read more

I like this gas station because is central located off Madison & Dewey. I agree with the other Yelper where he mentioned about the quality. It's not as good as Chevron or Shell but better than Arco AM/PM and same price or cheaper. At $2.79 a gallon you can't beat that when Chevron across the street is at $3.15 a gallon over .35 cents savings per gallon. They also have great prices inside on drinks, chips, snacks and many other items. Service is excellent no cons at all. So yeah if you're in the area stop by and fill up your car! You won't be disappointed. I rate this awesome gas station at 5 Stars! read more

They have chevron gas without the Techron at a very reasonable price ... it's the closest to home so I will only come here and I like how there's a tiny store in case I need to purchase some snacks or a drink. I'm surprise they have a fountain drinks section because I like to get ice for every liquid I consume. The customer service is cool, there's sometimes a wait because there's one attendant but it's never a long wait so I appreciate the fast service and conversation at the same time. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE! I cannot say enough nice things about this Safeway! My family frequents this location and the employees always have answers to our questions about where items are or if they have them. Today was different. I went in and purchased my items and when I came out my car was dead. I went in and asked if anyone possibly had cables to jump it. I started going here recently and it's good. It's big, not so crowded, cheap, and looks clean. My only problem is that I notice sometimes certain pumps are out of order and sometimes the machines don't print the receipt and tells me to get it inside. read more

Great location, there gas quality is actually just as good as competitors, not quite as good as chevron but better than arco and still cheapest. Its usually busy in the evenings, location and price mainly, usually can get in n out without having to wait even when its crazy. They accept credit cards which is great and have the extended pump line if you forgot to park on your gas nossel side or you dont want to wait for your side. read more
