Not the biggest, cleanest or best safeway, but it's conveniently located at the Salt Lake shopping Center among a row of eateries, longs and stores. This safeway is smaller, and if I shop in the afternoon or early evening, seems like most of the sale items and other regular items are out, especially on $5 friday. Items that are remaining are still fresh, but not much selection. $5 friday special cooked items like fried chicken tenders, nuggets, spareribs, etc are prepacked. Lines are always long, even the self check-out, but service is always good. Lots of parking since it is in the Salt Lake Shopping center, but the parking lot gets dark around safeway area, and sometimes there are sketchy people that hang there, so I avoid going to this area after dark.

You can certainly feel the ancient vibe here... Since I was in the area and knew that Safeway would have the item that my time crunch day was ending besides my exhaust and patience and decided to give this place a visit. Knowing a friend that used to work there and the stories he's told me...still to this day...it all came to me as soon as I walked in the door...wow! The guest service area is just the basic as you feel the time this place has done without any updates is quite sad though as a neighborhood grocery store it's still embraced for it's necessities but sadly lacks all the items that the larger/newer stores offers. I do remember visiting this location when I my bestie lived in Salt Lake and she loves to cook and I loved hanging out with her that I would stop here for items to prepare and make it a girls night out, you can still certainly find that basic items here though for more "selective" items you'd save time by going to the larger stores. I do hope that they will improve this location as it has taken us though covid and various situation and does deserve better.

This Safeway is the one in Salt Lake and must be one of their oldest. You walk in and can just tell that it needs a facelift compared to all the newer Safeways. I used to come to this Safeway all the time about 15-20 years ago as my ex lived in the area. It still looks the same as it did back then. They sell what every other Safeway sells. They have a produce, meat, deli, bakery and poke department. I love my clam poke. I always check it out no matter what grocery store I'm at. At all the other Safeways that I've been to the clams are in the shell. This is the only time that I've seen the clam poke deshelled. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. At least it's easier to eat and you won't be paying for shells that you're just throwing away.

This review is for the online contact less curbside pick-up service. This is one of the older Safeways that has been around forever. It's located at the Salt Lake shopping center on a very busy corner. I placed an online order for a product that's not available at my normal grocery store. Plus, added bonus, the item I needed was on sale Their. website & ordering process was very user friendly. They also had a wide selection of pick-up times to choose from. And if you're late, you have until store closing that day to pick it up. Received an email that my order was ready. When I got to the parking lot, I headed toward the front entrance to look for the designated curbside spots, there wasn't any. I went up & down each aisle, nada. WTH? I rechecked the email & it said park near the entrance & indicate if to the left or right side. Easier said than done. Found no spots near the entrance, store was busy, & the closest spot was midway up an aisle. Responded to the email make, model, & car color, along with info like where in the aisle I was parked, & by a tree. It was useless info since the parking lot is full of trees & there were at least a dozen gray cars. So I stood by my car & watched the exit for an associate carrying my order. About 5 minutes later, a female associate walked out with my order & I proceeded to walk toward her waving. She was quite friendly. Once I identified myself, I got my order. I asked her how come there's no designated spots for curbside like other Safeways. She didn't know. I told her she needs to let her management know since it doesn't make for good customer service. Because of this, this review gets knocked down to 4 stars. Everything else was great from ordering online, friendly associate. & my order was well packaged & nothing out of stock. Safeway - you are a national chain. Surely you can arrange with the shopping center mgnmt for some designated spots. It makes for good customer service.

Michael was so informative and helpful here in produce.

The store will be my local store for the next couple months. I went in and checked it out last night they're well stocked but law and some items probably do to problems with trade and covid. But I did find all the items I was looking for and I was very happy. Michael and produce was very personable and pointed me toward items that I had never seen before so I added it to My Shopping List. He also gave me Cooking tips for a couple unusual items. I didn't have much contact with many of the people in the store as they seemed to be busy with other customers but my exiting contact was with Layla as she was very personable and fun. I enjoyed her conversation while we checked out.

Balloons made to order but pricey 2 for $15
    Elizabeth M.

Cute and little compared to the massive Safeway I am used to shopping at. It's my first time here and the produce and snack were well stocked and in good shape. However I came for balloons, flowers and some candy basket items. The flowers were stepped up in this Safeway. I got a dry arrangement with acorns and fall flowers. Beautiful and can use as a decoration later. Got two balloons. They were out of my original selection but kinda pricey too. I got 2 balloons for $15. . I got a mini balloon shaped like a crown for $2.99. That was reasonable. Anyways I grabbed some chips on sale and went to the checkout. Small Safeway so only one register open. I waited a few minutes because I wanted a price check on the Lindor candy basket (which turned out to be $31.00, again yikes- good thing there was a $10 coupon). I hear the cashier raising his confused voice to the elderly customer and I hear her trying to explain her transaction. I moved on to the self check out. As soon as I get there I see the associate assigned there to assist so I smile and say ahh good I need.... She looks right at me and turns and walks in the opposite direction. I follow and stop at her register and when she looks up at me I ask can I get a price check. Meanwhile I can hear the previous cashier raising his voice telling the elderly customer stop you need to stop. Mind you I am farther away. I can't hear the lady but I sure can hear the cashier. I look up to see his Han out towards her face and him say you need to stop. The more you say the more confusing you get. This ripped my nerves. The associate doing my price check turns to another associate as they both stare at the uncomfortable encounter and states, yeah I know I'm gonna go over there. I proceeded to check out my items. I can hear the previous cashier still raising his voice still telling the elderly customer that she needs to stop. I finish my check out. And I look up to see the associate that helps me with my price check go over and talk to the lady as the previous cashier walks away. The associate was now going to help the elderly lady I assumed. Then I hear that associate telling her no know what you're doing is and then I couldn't hear but what you need to do is this. And her tone was condescending. Rude loud and totally unnecessary. Therefore, this Safeway gets one star. It's ridiculous how they treat and talk to people. If that was my Kupuna, I don't think I would be able to contain myself. So if you need things in a pinch, you can go here but just don't talk to anybody and just don't let anybody talk to you. Just double checked my receipts when I got back to work and they didn't discount my $10 coupon for the basket. Ugh!!

This review is about their floral section. Compared to other grocery stores, I believe Safeway has gone above and beyond to provide a great variety of fresh flowers and greenery. I love how they offer separates and not just prepared arrangements. Especially helpful for folks like me wanting to make a haku but all the florists are closed due to the coronavirus... Thank you Safeway for offering a wide selection of floral colors, varieties, and bouquets. I had more than enough options to fill my haku lei. I'm very impressed with the abundance of choices available at a grocery store! Happy Palm Sunday!

I did not get to try anything from the hot bar but my parents and sister for the most part really liked what they got. The hot and cold bar is priced by weight. The rotisserie chicken is pretty dry in my opinion. For the price, (about $7 to $8 I believe), it was a disappointment compared to Costco. The poke bar was definitely the biggest hit. After grabbing a number and waiting to be called, my sister and I decided to get two 1 pound containers of tuna and a half pound of a little beef item. One of my fondest childhood memories is going to Tamashiro Market with my dad…read more When we lived in Kalihi, this was our usual spot. And even after we moved, we would still drive out just to come here for the seafood. That's how special it was to us. The reason why he chose Tamashiro over other grocery stores was simple--it was quality and because of my Nanay (grandma). His mom purchased from here and made so many delicious dishes. He knew what to look for, and he trusted this place. For him, it wasn't just about buying food... it was about getting the best for his family. My dad isn't the type to say "I love you." He shows it. One of the biggest ways he showed love was through his cooking. Even after a long day on his feet cooking for others, he would come home and cook for us. That was his way of taking care of us. I loved coming here with him. It was a five-senses overload--the smell of fresh seafood, the sound of people talking story, the colors of fish on display. Back then when you were allowed to sample a grape or poke to make sure it was good before buying. But more than that, it was time with him. I still remember the excitement I felt when I saw the pink building with the huge crab. I thought back then was to look at everything but now I understand that it meant something more..... something special--time with my dad. It's with a sad heart that Tamishiro Market is now closed. Thank you, Tamashiro, for providing quality food and memories for so many years. You were more than a market--you were part of my childhood

Goodbye to another Hawaii landmark! Tamashiro Market is closing its doors on April 30, 2026…read more FPO and I went the Sunday before for one last tour of the legendary fish market. It looked the same as it did the first time I went with my grandfather. I picked up a couple pounds of dry aku for my favorite sister and some tee shirts as memorabilia. It was pretty busy and I expect that will continue until They close. Still, the people were nice and very helpful. I'm really going to miss it!
