This Safeway is kind of a hit and miss now. We used to visit when we were in the Lakewood area but it has changed a lot over the years. Lakewood struggled with homelessness and high crime for a long time and it kind of affected the store. Shoppers would also get harassed with being asked for change. And we had picky people who had the nerve to complain the amount of change instead of being grateful. It got on my nerves terribly! This area store also lost pride in their appearance on the outside. There was always trash outside there. Do anyone clean up out there ?!There were store employees who felt that pressure and sometimes I felt that they took frustration out on actual customers. There was no longer quality service just employees being present and probably feeling afraid about their safety. I understand and felt afraid too but I loved Safeway and going to get good deals there. But that put a strain on customers relationship with us.The Customers who once used to come regularly to have meals at the deli were not able to because of the removal of tables and chairs. Then after a complaint of the total removal , then a table and a few chairs was put out. The Starbucks had a renovation but it was a turn off and honestly I do not know if that Starbucks is still there. My husband and I did not really like to use that one. There was maybe one Starbucks employee that was ok and the rest just was present but treated valued customers like order numbers. We used to visit this Safeway when we went to the Lakewood Town Center Shopping center. However, our family no longer go to the Town Center anymore since it has increased in crime and violence. This once beautiful family shopping center is just not the same. I am certain with more security measures and making families feel more safe again in Lakewood then families will enjoy Town Center Safeway again. read more

The manager David at the pharmacy has always been the rudest most sarcastic man alive, needs to find a new job bc he will make you feel dumb for asking ANY kind of questions and he's making it to where his minions are the same way now. When we needed a place to sit down for a bit, there was nothing. I was with someone learning to navigate the store and back was hurting so we needed a break and no chairs anywhere at Starbucks! The prices are exteremly high. A Small lunchable 2 for $6.00 meaning they are charging $3.00 a lunchable, meanwhile at other places it's $1.58. Spinch in a can was $3.00 for 1 can. They are price gouging people. The customer service isn't the best and they probably get paid $17.00 an hour meanwhile I come from a state where minimum wage is $8.00 and people are more friendier. The only thing good about this store is it's variety of selection, somewhat quality and close by. It's just too expensive!! read more

Shopped at this store about noon. Quite a bit of variety, priced expensively, poor service. The man who waited on me at the deli was surly. Also, the Chinese trays often pop open in the grocery bags. They used to put a rubber band around so this couldn't happen or tape it shut but they refuse that small effort now. Only picking up a few items and didn't need help which was good since none seemed to be available. Self-checkout was awful. They've removed the wands so even very heavy items have to be lifted onto the counter and back to the cart which makes a big difference to a 73 year old with a shoulder injury. When I went to pay, the screen told me my card had been removed although I hadn't put my card in yet. There were no employees available at the self check-out so I put the help light on. No one came for several minutes so I went to the check stands to ask to have someone called to the self check-out. The man I asked pointed to someone who was standing between us and the self check-out and said the woman in the white sweatshirt would help. This was confusing because she was wearing a pink and gray sweatshirt and did not have a tag identifying herself as an employee. When I showed her the screen was not working she said she knew that it wasn't working. I asked her why there wasn't a sign up saying that it wasn't working and I complained there had been no one in the area to help. She pursed her lips and said, "Ma'am," in a very condescending tone, "I was helping someone." I can't say for sure that's not true but neither she nor anyone else was helping in the area where she was assigned. I found her rudeness so offensive I asked her to call a manager. She did but none arrived. As I was leaving the store I saw an employee moseying out from the bathroom area and asked if she were a manager. She said she was so I complained. She snorted contemptuously at me at the thought of putting up a sign the register didn't work, and said, "It doesn't work that way. We have to send in a slip." So apparently they think it's acceptable to just have people scan their items in at stands that don't work with no one available to help. She wouldn't give me her name but she was wearing an orange shirt. Will avoid this store. read more

Wow, you guys changed your hours and forgot to update anybody including those that use your grocery pickup service. Definitely, won't be coming back here and I want my money back ASAP because I did not get my groceries. If that's not canceled by the morning, I'm going to open up a case with the bank. At this point, you guys have basically stolen $60 from me and I'm super fortunate that that wasn't the only money I had to buy groceries, because some people are in fact, in that situation and you guys should be embarrassed if not outright humiliated that you would do that to someone. In fact, it explicitly told me that because I had not picked up my groceries by 6 PM exactly that I was basically forfeiting them and they were going to go back on the shelf. That's a joke, because the last time I've ordered my groceries for pickup, you guys were late, putting them together. And I had to wait to pick up my groceries, until the next day they were so late. I had to go out and get fast food for my night shift because you guys were so late and now you guys screwed me a second time because I had to run in at the last minute before you guys closed and dodge all the loads of pallets and boxes you have clogging up the aisles to go pick up my own groceries at the last minute. If I'd known you guys were gonna act like kids, I would have picked up my groceries in another town on my way back. I guess you guys lost what few good workers you guys did have. Let your guys know when they find all their carts rearranged in the meat section that a tiny five foot one girl did that and they're over here struggling to arrange them. And don't worry about trespassing me, I'm not coming back, trust me. Too many options in this town to mess with you guys. Avoid this place at all costs. I think the fact that their gas station is the situation that it is should have been my first alert but I thought that this was convenient and I see this is not the case. The deli used to offer tasty food. We just had Chinese food and although the egg roll and sample of a special chicken dish were good, the other two entrees--orange and General Tso chickens--were terrible. Crunchy and not juicy at all. Unpleasant. The chow mein was likewise dry and tasteless. I will not even eat the rest of this meal. A huge disappointment for $24. Last visit to this deli for us. This is MY Safeway! I've been shopping here with my mom for so many years! People say it's expensive, but for the area it's one of the cheaper places to get groceries outside of grocery outlet, Walmart and winco... The staff here are amazing and the selection of brands is great. My only complaint is sometimes they're out of hand baskets at the entrances and you have to go hunting the lanes for them. This location has a Starbucks and a credit union inside. read more

The cashier at the self checkout working shift at 9:40am 5/17 is trash. Went to pay for a couple items, no bags, payment, then immediately went to need cashier assistant. I watched as she went to 5 other people and passed right by me several times and then started talking to someone at another checkout that had no assistance. Then she looks right at me and says "what", I'll be right with you" throwing her hands up. Clueless/dumb cashiers, worst part was being ignored multiple times and then getting attitude just waiting for help. read more

Pharmacy assistants are very rude. I switched from RiteAid to Safeway Pharm because my first experience with the gentleman there was very nice. He was very nice and approachable. Second time was to pickup my son's prescription. Just so happened that I had to catch a flight that evening but my flight was canceled. I was on the phone with the airline customer service trying to rebook my flight when the pharmacy assistant called. I approached the counter intent on dropping the prescription for me to pick up or get it picked up later by my husband. Your employee had the nerve to demand I hang up the phone. It took me forever to get to the airline customer service for me to hang up. I even put it away out of her sight but, she wasn't satisfied. She was like, "I'm sorry but I'm not helping you unless you hang up the phone." Like wtf! I didn't hang up on the airline because I wanted to make sure I catch the earliest flight that night so, I left the store. I will never use your pharmacy again. Such a rude woman! Unfortunately I couldn't hang up the phone so I can ask her what's her problem. read more

I usually go to this Safeway because it's closer. It's a nice store and pretty organized. However as of lately I have not been to satisfied. First, I love then chicken tenders, but for the last four times I have come to the store either they are always out or the one they do have are old and stale. I can't say enough positive things about the Drive-up & Go service offered. Since February 28, 2020 I have been inside this specific location only to see some knucklehead not wearing a mask, so I gave up. I was buying my groceries elsewhere after being a loyal Safeway shopper for over 40 years, until I heard about the driveup service. I appreciate the accuracy and attention to detail when I make notes. The only negative I have to say is SHAME on those folks that use those designated parking spots that aren't using the service. Worse pick up service I've ever used! When I got home I discovered they didn't put my country style ribs in my order. I called the store and the employee had no idea how to help. She kept saying we canceled it and the receipt clearly showed that only 1 lb was canceled. she couldn't tell me what we were charged nor could she answer any questions. When I asked for a manager she said they both went home early. We had to go to back to the store to buy the ribs and on a Friday, it was very busy. Today I ordered online for a pick up order. I had my small kids with me so didn't want to go inside the store. 7pm was my pick up time. I was sent a text at 838pm my order was ready. I get there at 845pm call to let them know I'm outside. No answer..so I walk in to the only associate available to chat was at self check out, this short round lady was super rude! I say "excuse me" she doesn't even look up from scribbling on a napkin and says "yessss" like I was bothering her doing nothing. I tell her I'm there for pick up she smirks and goes "oh he already left" lucky for her the assistant manager walks up and says "I'll take care of your order," or she was gonna get a piece of information to help her in her career at Safeway! The assistant manager was nice about it, but I asked her why they would allow a service that wasn't available. She mumbled something about the pickers working overtime but she didn't know why it would do that. I'm never ordering pick up from here again. I don't expect an apology because systems have errors. I am really disappointed in Safeway for allowing this to happen as well as hiring people who do NOT know how to interact with the public! read more

This is close to me and compared to groceries stores in Michigan it isn't bad. The structure of the store is a bit off to me, but to a point where you wouldn't shop there, but to a point to where it would annoy you if you aren't familiar with that. The quality of produce and meat are good, I like the fresh seafood selection as well. The store itself is clean more so during covid times. There are markers on the floor to direct one way traffic down the isles but very few people pay attention to them. Social distancing could probably be pushed a little more read more

WORST PHARMACY EVER!! I tried getting my latest covid-19 vaccine at Safeway pharmacy this evening and the lady there said that since I was locked into the Rite Aid pharmacy for prescriptions I can't get my vaccinations there at all but I got my 1st and 2nd covid-19 vaccine there and didn't have a problem with it. I am a delivery employee of doordash. At 5:00 PM, I went to the self-check out. Then I used doordash's red card. I tried several times, but doordash's red card could not be accepted. When I left, a female employee called "TAKEBACK" very loudly! Does she need to yell like that? I've wasted my time helping customers get groceries because doordash's red card can't pay the bill! At that time, because of the employee's yelling, people looked at me as if I had done something wrong! I will report to the Health Department and City Hall. For 15 yrs, I have lived in the neighborhood across the street from this Safeway. I stopped doing my regular grocery shopping here in 2010. I would still rather drive to Fred Meyers or Grocery Outlet. This Safeway has been this way for YEARS. I would hope that corporate or management or someone would look at demand and traffic patterns and adjust their scheduling to accommodate the traffic. I agree, if you go early in the morning, it is not so busy (but you are navigating around pallets and carts of groceries being stocked) At least at Fred Meyers they make a big deal about line management and have a supervisor up front directing people to the fastest register available. And they open more than 4 registers. The appearance of concern and an attempt to manage traffic flow goes a long way. Frequently, I find supervisors and managers running a cash register. There is no proactive crowd control, only reactive at Safeway. read more

This Safeway has a deli, floral, bakery, AND a gas station! Plus, a huge variety of organic produce, breads, meats, dairy and is open 24 hours. The only reason I give it 4 out of 5 is the LONG lines! Please, hire more staff to checkout!!! This location has a great, big parking lot, and is a one-stop-shop for all of my grocery needs, I want to jump in and check out, boy wait in line for 5-10 minutes! Weekends are horrible, as the lines are super long. I've tried shopping at odd hours, to see if I still have to wait. It's been the rare occasion that I don't wait too long. Very rare. I often make friends with the customers waiting in line with me, as it's THAT long of a wait. Otherwise, great convenient grocery store!! read more

The staff at this Safeway typically offer great service, the store appears to be as clean as can be with constant human traffic in and out. I wish the hot soup area was always labeled and had more than just one or two options. (Last year there were usually 4 soups to choose from). Deli has good food as well, the hours of operation are also great as I often do late night shopping. read more

The check out person was very rude i believe she was a manager helping out. There was an elderly man in front of me that was moving slow but the check out person showed how inpatient she was by rolling her eyes and sighing just because the customer was going slow and needed help running the debit card machine. As it was my turn to check out she was muttering under her breath how much she hated working there and stated to me that she hated slow people and that she couldn't wait to be off to go have a drink. Usually this is my go-to place to get organic produce & most of my everyday grocery items. I have been frustrated with the newest remodel/layout change they did in the past month or so though. The selection of some of their items has been limited due to new shelving layouts/smaller sections. One example of which is their fresh ground coffees. They used to have at least 12-18 kinds of beans that you could grind in store to your desired grind, however since the remodel they are now down to about 8, & of course none of which are the ones I used to get, & the packaged ones are never ground to the coarseness needed, or the type wanted. Other than these changes this Safeway is great. Sadly this remodel/lack of selection causes me to search elsewhere for some of the items I need. read more

This Safeway is located in the "Lakewood Towne Center" and the only one located 'in' town. It's been a staple for quite a while with an addition of a gas station back when they started to sell fuel. It is a pretty large and modern location with a decent sized deli section/bakery/florist as well as a pharmacy which is located in the rear. The lines are always mad crazy in this location and I'm not sure why. The prices aren't why people come in but it always seems to be the most 'convenient'. The pharmacy staff is great and my Mom has been a steady customer for 10 years easy. They are great with the refills and calling her when they're ready. She needs a lot of medicine due to a transplant and they've never given her any hassle. read more

I used the Safeway floral department for my wedding flowers. The manager, Sabrina, was a dream. I told her my colors and budget and gave her freedom to put the flowers together. They turned out BEAUTIFUL! The prices can't be beat either. read more

My experience here was pretty pore. I asked an associate for help and he basically just shrugged at me & pointed in a general direction of where he thought the item might have been & walked off, luckily the women at the meat counter was able to point me in the right direction. I love this Safeway! Joey Soares is a great store manager and it shows in the quality of employees and the facility overall. The employess are super accomadating. If you have a questions they never pass you off to another employee, they handle the situation even if it is another department. The store is super clean, and stocked with everything. There is a gas station so it really makes it one stop shopping. read more
