Not service dog friendly Peter the manager came to my special needs kids and I in a very rude way asking to don't come back again! I never experienced this kind of treatment from a "manager" in a neighborhood store. Of course we won't come back but if you have a service dog you shouldn't have business in here again. He could talk to us like a real manager but he was very VERY rude like a mad police officer, like I was braking the worst law! it's ok for me but my kids got scared and that makes any mother mad. read more

I'd like to complain about an employee named Sue. She has been rude to me every time I've been helped by her. Last week at the self checkout I got 1/2 off frozen blueberries and she told me I scanned them wrong. She didn't really help me, just told me I scanned them wrong. I said ok. Then I had a coupon for butter and showed her the coupon on my phone, to which she replied "I don't know what I'm looking at, you probably picked up the wrong brand." I told her to take the butter, so she snatched it from my hands and walked away. I went back into the store after checking out and confronted her about her rude & consistent behavior. I've worked in a grocery store before and I know it can be busy, however treating customers like crap isn't okay. When I told her that every time she's helped me she has been rude to me, she said "oh I'm sorry" then went back to staring at her computer screen. I told her maybe she should try to be nicer and to do better, to which she *literally* shrugged her shoulders and went back to working...I will be calling upper management this week about her lack of care and basic customer service skills, but Yelp seemed like a good place to put it since I'm probably not the only one who's had issues with miss Sue. Hopefully a manager sees this and teaches Sue how to be nice and helpful to people! Nina and Kelly are awesome, though. There is also a woman who works in the deli who is really friendly. My wife and I wanted to give our sincere thanks to the staff at Lincoln Safeway, because giving is what Thanksgiving is all about. Our hearts were touched by the thoughtfulness and caring that they showed us. They went above and beyond to make our Thanksgiving dinner a true success. Had the worst experience here when a lady employee followed me while shopping with my child, grabbed an item out of my cart then attempted to correct my use of the self check out things got weird real fast as i guess the 6 feet rule and equality doesn't apply here she then decided to get the manager for none other than to embarrass me as if I committed a crime I contacted corporate about this location I'd suggest going elsewhere to prevent discrimination. read more

I bought gift cards for Home Depot from Safeway at Christmas. The person tried to use them but the balance came up as zero. Luckily I saved the gift receipt showing the amount that was supposed to be on the card. Apparently these cards are from a third party and there's no phone number on the cards. After bringing the cards back to Safeway I was told to make out back work for a refund. It's been since January and the problem hasn't been resolved. Buy your gift cards only from the stores that are affiliated with the name on the card. I'm out $50 and Safeway or Home Depot don't stand behind these third party cards. read more

Terrible customer service. I was at the deli ordering something, go to check out and hit cashback. And this kid (I think his name is Andrew) proceeds to snap at me and says "you should have asked me before hitting cash back, we don't have cash at this register" so I tell him, "how is the customer supposed to know what you keep in your register?" So he goes "go ask another employee at another register and bring your receipt to them to get your cash" - I've worked in customer service a long time and I would have NEVER had the audacity to speak to a customer that way. And to tell them "you should have asked me" - so I walk over to the only lane open and I'm waiting for the person in front of me to finish so that I can ask this woman (who's the only employee around) how I can go about getting my cash. (Because I've already been charged for it) so the lady goes "go ahead and put your stuff down" I respond nicely "I've already paid for it, the deli didn't have cash and I was charged for it so I'm trying to ask what I need to do" the lady then tells me "so you think i can pull cash out of my till for you?? This isn't how this works. Go to customer service" UGH! Lady... there was no one at customer service which is why I approached you. I don't know why everyone is so damn rude at this place but it was enough to put me into a bad mood and already damper my morning. If you work in customer service you need to be mindful of how you talk to people. It would have been different if I had been rude, I understand we're all human and we get irritated with rude customers. But I had literally did nothing to deserve any of that. read more

Every once in awhile I like to write a review for this store because I shop there a lot. As a recent reviewer said - the store is laid out well, there are many selections, attentive staff and it is kept well stocked even during these difficult times with supply chain issues at the border. Someone who stood out to me the other day is Ted, during check out. He is mentally quick and motivated to provide excellent customer service, having a good multitasking eye and attention given to the customer and follow through that brings a happy experience when shopping there. He makes me think of manager potential. The only weakness I've seen occasionally are some vendors, who go by their own rules of conduct, including during the pandemic. This is a common thing in many stores, so not new. In an ideal world it would be great to find a way to personally connect with them and perhaps incentives ways to be more positive and feel connected to the people they supply. read more

My review would of been five stars for the woman that helped us in the deli hot food case. She was friendly and attentive. As we were finishing ordering our food, her associate went to the person behind us and over her associate and sold all the food to the person behind us in line. I have a special needs son who was with me today and can only eat certain items. We usually wouldn't mind but the woman who did it didn't seem to care or acknowledge what she had done. Even the customer apologized. She was an older woman with grey hair and I think she might do better somewhere that doesn't deal with as many customers. read more

This store has the audacity to sell a tin of biscuits for $6.50 and then train the employees to harass you (nicely) about the $.10 BAG. Also, this is the only Safeway I know where, instead of silencing the voice assistant in self checkout, they have it CRANKED TO THE MAX where it's ALL YOU HEAR while in the store. It must be sheer insanity to hear that 10,000 times a day. I only visit to buy certain items not available elsewhere but that's it. The pharmacy seems well run. read more

CAUTION & Take Heed! Spoiled food being sold here. In the past week: Bought packaged sliced wheat bread with expiration date 5 days into future that had mold through center. Bought 2% fat milk with expiration date 6 days into the future, sour and lumpy upon opening the 1 quart carton. I think that deliveries off the massive tractor trailers are sitting in the blistering Lincoln CA heat before being stocked into refrigerators and shelves. My wife used the employee restroom recently in the back area. The food staging area is filthy. I've been in the back stock areas in many supermarkets. This Safeway is the dirtiest and worst organzed one I've ever seen. Poor quality management. GAS Station: Lowest prices in region. Always too crowded. Expect to wait 5 - 10 minutes to pull up to a pump. Traffic flow into pumps is uncontrolled, so it's a real cluster***K with drivers jostling for position. This is a great Safeway! It is clean and well organized. The decor makes you feel like you're that much closer to shopping at a farmer's market. My husband and I were able to find what we needed to make dinner and dessert for my in-laws. The guy at the meat counter was really friendly and serviced us quickly. There was plenty of parking in the shopping center it is located in. This Safeway also has a gas station, which truly makes this a one stop shop for your essential errands! This Safeway is a health hazard! If you can, avoid the unnecessary risk of getting your prescriptions or groceries at this location. At this Safeway, poor leadership from management and questionable company policies have coalesced to make this business a severe health risk to the community of Lincoln. On Sunday 9, 2020, I visited the store to purchase groceries and saw customers just walking around the store without masks. While paying for my groceries, I witnessed an argument between an older woman and a young guy who was not wearing a mask and refused to use one despite the pleads of other customers. I was surprised about the disregard of all the cashiers who witnessed the argument. While talking to the "Archie," the store manager, he revealed that there was nothing that he could do about it because it was Safeway's policy not to enforce the requirement for masks. He also noted that Safeway's policy is not to refuse to serve or ask to leave to any customer who refuses to wear a mask while shopping at this store. With so many other choices to find your groceries and get your prescriptions, I am pretty sure that the risk is not worth going to this Safeway again. read more

The employees at the deli refuse to help with Deli cuts. They will literally ignore you when you're standing there for help. I've been ignored many many times and they all have an attitude. However, nothing compares to the attitude from the store manager. I've seen him go off on his employees. The problem is there's never enough cashiers. I actually live in Roseville but work out in Lincoln and stop by the Deli often and the service has been excellent, prompt, kind and warm. I only get a 30 minute lunch and usually avoid the Deli because the wait is to long but not this Deli they are on it! Also I can tell that they have regulars, because while waiting in line the man ahead of me was addressed by his first name by a very friendly cheerful lady behind the counter. On my paydays I treat my dogs to a treat of fried chicken, the other night my husband was trying out the chicken, he was raving about how much meat was on the breast and how good the seasonings where. "My dogs almost didn't get their treat!" I also would like to thank the girl who works behind the counter in the Sushi area. Tonight I had bought some wine on special and there was a problem at the cash register. I had to put one star so I could write a review. I was shopping with my young son and when I went to check out MARIA ( who also checked me out last month) was so rude to me because I have WIC. Maria questioned about a loaf of bread Because the loaf was Safeway brand. I did ask the bakery if they had the one I needed and was told they ran out. But MARIA made a big deal about it and sent some one to go check it out. And of course I was right. It's hard enough to have WIC and be judged by rude people. But at the checkout i never expected to be publicly shamed. I have WIC because I NEED IT to feed my young family . But then MARIA told me that they ran out of bread because of all the WIC people clean out supplies every month. Seriously?? I don't appreciate being treated this way. It's very hurtful. I've been here in Lincoln for about 5 years now and I've have been happy shopping at Safeway until today. Since they charge you if you want a plastic bag I usually do not get a plastic bag. Today I wanted to use the same plastic basket I used to buy my seven small items to also carry my products to my vehicle. However, I was told that I could not take the plastic basket outside. In the past I would just put the plastic basket back in it's place after I was done using it. Since I could not use the plastic basket I had to stack everything using my 2 hands and walk carefully to my vehicle so I would not drop any of my products. It just wasn't a good customer experience. On a good note, I also live close to Target and Sprouts so I can go there instead of Safeway. read more

If you live in the greater Lincoln California area, the Safeway Grocery Store on Lincoln Blvd. is a convenient location to do your everyday shopping. Prices are reasonable and the merchandise selection is good. I like the Bakery, Deli and the Meat Counters. Nice variety of interesting deserts & breads, prepared salads, seafood along with and beef, veal, pork, lamb, and chicken. Large pharmacy and flower/plant areas. Produce looks fresh and is generally very tasty. The store is clean and the staff is helpful. While the people behind the cash registers are very friendly and competent, the lines to checkout are almost always too long and/or the wait times. I believe this is a staffing issue, not enough folks scheduled to work at given periods to keep the checkout wait times down. Management needs to reconsider staffing plan. read more

I have been coming to this store for years. I live the fact that the employees are very friendly and always willing to help. They go above and beyond to make it a good shopping experience. I usually go through the self service line. The ladies that are regularly working the self service are very friendly. They are quick to help and keep the line moving along. When my paper bag had ripped they offered me a plastic bag and got my things packed and ready to go. I definitely have a good shopping experience each time I go in. There is a reason I don't shop here and that is simply because of employees like Sue. My bread didn't scan at the right price. When I asked for assistance, she couldn't be more put off by helping me and then when I mentioned she charged me 0.99 more, instead of crediting that same amount, her response was 'no I didnt'. After she fixed it, she acknowledged having hit the wrong button but then no apology and walked away. The ladies at the deli were extremely kind and could teach Sue a thing or two about customer service and how people should be treated. Ugh the customer service at this Safeway is so sad. Today I had to listen to the checker complain about the customer he had just argued with about the price of an item with the customer behind me, saying how she always "overreacts" and is "too sensitive" and "what are you going to do about sensitive people". For all I know, the woman in front of me was nuts, but the checker was super rude, eventually telling her, "see miss, I gave you the price you wanted, isn't that what you wanted? Are you happy now?" And all the while, the checker never even acknowledged me, except to call me by my wife's mispronounced last name. And despite all that, I still smiled and said "thank you" and he didn't even look at me, he immediately turned to the sympathetic customer behind me and continued to complain about the other customer. Even though it's cheaper and has more stuff, I'll go to Raley's next time, where the customer service is incredible. This is the last of several subpar experiences at Safeway. read more

I'm thinking the reason my last few visits at the Lincoln Safeway have been poor is due to under staffing. Twice now I've visited the indoor Safeway Starbuck's and there's only ONE person working. I was advised the store made a reduction of Starbucks staff after the holidays. When I was in line today, there where three people in front of me and three people behind me (all in different groups). My last visit truly disappointed me with the deli department, specifically the meat counter. I purchased a bone in ham in the actual meat department. A ham that's fully cooked. The meat department advised me I could have this fully cooked ham cut up in the deli department. Boy was this a fiasco! One of the ladies in the meat department was so upset that she got on the phone in front of me and phoned the meat department telling them not to tell customers they offer this service. An assistant or deli manager came by and said she would be happy to take care of this for me and did so with no problems. I'm glad they offer this service! Too bad the deli employee was so rude. She made me feel like it was more of an inconvenience on my part than, "Hey we'll do whatever we can for you, the customer!" as Raley's would. read more

They have baskets to use in the store - however you can't take ur groceries outside in them. Carts however can be taken in/out - so use a basket and slow the whole checkout process down even more by making people walk outside to grab a cart and transfer items between them - super efficient Safeway. read more
