Terrible; worse than terrible. I wish I could go back to CVS, something I thought I would never say. Safeway takes 3 to 4 days to fill a prescription, that is, if they have it in, which they often do not. It is rare that you can get into their website to learn anything and if you try to call them it is even rarer that they pick up the phone. Further, actual pickup is a nightmare. Because I am ill much of the time, my husband has to go for me. Even when we are led to believe that a prescription is ready, invariably it is not and we are told to step aside and wait, sometime as much as over a half an hour. Other times, he has been sent away to come back and told upon returning that you are out of the medication. That is insane. And sometimes, as happened two weekends ago, they cannot even fulfill a commitment they give him right there at the counter. He was told Friday morning, that the prescription would be ready late that afternoon; he told them that he may not be able to make it back at the end of the day and asked if he could pick up the prescription the next morning, Saturday. The person at the counter said yes. So, he arrived at around 11:15 on Saturday morning and they told him it was not ready and told my husband to come back later. That is outrageous and insulting. The only reason I give them 2 stars rather than 1 is because they are usually nice when you go in. They claim to be understaffed, so I do not want to put any blame on the employees, but I wish so much that my health plan gave me an alternative that didn't cost me a fortune to switch to. read more

This has to be the WORST pharmacy I have ever used. They are always out of often common medications. They do not adhere to their posted opening hours, the staff is often truculent and excruciatingly slow. I could go on and on. I don't know who trained the staff on customer service, but it is certainly lacking. There is a Safeway app, but the staff says "we have nothing to do with it." So, why have it. We get text messages that say our medications are ready, only to wait up to 45 minutes to hear that they are not done and "don't pay attention to those messages." I miss Khang at Rite-Aid. Extremely short staffed. Almost impossible to reach them over the phone. They are friendly when you see them in person but there is always a long and slow moving line even during the day when you would expect it to be slow. Please help these employees by hiring more staff! read more

Ten years ago this was a great pharmacy. Changing ownerships seem to result in progressively poor, even hazardous. Employees seem to be captive to inoperative sotfware. Getting a refill which requires provider authorization results in pharmacy claiming they are waiting for approval, provider claims they approved a week ago. 06/2024. This pharmacy is a joke, or worse, assimilates to a street dealer. The previous team with Amy, David and others were fantastic. Now, we are in the abyssal horrors. Require 2 days, sometimes 3, when a kid, older person or anybody needs urgent medicines (such as antibiotics, epilepsy drugs, ...). They do not care about anything except their lunch hour. Sick people and patients need care, compassion and empathy avove all. They were better served in the era of doctors travelling in buggies. Now with the "great" electronic prescriptions governemental system, they have the audacity to state that they have not received them. They know that they are not accountable, cannot be traced, and take advantage of it. The reality is that they probably check their computers or FAX machines only once a day. Rarely, do they answer the dedicated phone line for patients and it does not take messages. PATHETIC, for a Health Care Service. They are NOT understaffed. Each time you go there, you can hear joking and talking mondane conversation. With some rare exceptions, they are lazy, rude, incompetent, and inefficient liars and will grab any excuse. If you dare venture in there, make sure you ID what you have been given and count the pills. That goes especially for controlled substances, and one may wonder where the surplus goes. They need extensive Officials investigation, Supervisor monitoring, Board and and DEA involvement for their activities. Not that of the store manager, whose most important concerns are about laundry detergent, wines and other products (like He/She should). I could go on and on, but I shall finish by simply recommending the RFK treatment: although I do not approve of it, write to the White House (which reads your letters), and obtain an executive order to fire them all and close this public danger, copy to Safeway/Albersons Headquarters. This pharmacy is severely understaffed. I have great respect for the staff at this Safeway; they're always helpful and polite.

With Robin, Amy and David gone, it's terrible. The staff is all young, meaning inexperienced. I am laughed at by the young boy at the cashier. If he thinks I cant see it, he's wrong. Time to go. read more

Incompetent AND Uncaring I am not usually one to write scathing reviews, but my experience at the Safeway Pharmacy at El Camino was so bad that I feel compelled. TL/DR They were literally in the middle of ringing me up they shut for lunch and told me to come back a hour later. I arrived at the pharmacy at 12:45. They close for lunch at 1pm. A few minutes after I had gotten in line, the cashier called out that I would be the last person they could serve before they closed for lunch. Fine, no problem. Nice of them to make that clear. When it came to my turn, I told the cashier I was picking up two medications for my son. He got the first one, and was excruciatingly slow about the whole thing, but no big deal, not everyone needs to be in a rush. I reminded him there was a second medication and he said, now we are closed, you need to come back in an hour. I asked how was it possible for them to shut down mid-transaction!? He had said I was to be the last person served before they closed, so they need to complete my transaction. He said the pharmacist had clocked out and they couldn't give me the second medication. I watched as the pharmacist walked by the cashier as I was pleading with him to complete my transaction. I don't live anywhere near the pharmacy and had my disabled son waiting in the car for his medication, so it would be quite difficult for me to make him wait for an hour in the car. I asked if they could transfer the prescription to another pharmacy close to my house and they said no. I know that pharmacies are understaffed these days, but this is truly a terrible way to run a business. Telling a customer that "you're the last one before lunch." then shutting down mid-transaction and not even having the courtesy to send the prescription to a different pharmacy. read more

How on earth does it take 45 minutes to fill a zpack. It's literally prepacked - just put it in a bag. I am being forced to stand here and wait with pneumonia and a fever while the pharmacy clerk sits on her computer. No trying to help or serve their customers. Just rude inefficient service. Want to give a big shout out to Amy and David at this pharmacy! I don't even live close by any longer, yet continue to go there because Amy especially makes me feel like I'm using an old fashioned family drug store. I never have to say more than my first name to either of them - they know everything that is going on without ever looking anything up and generally make me feel as though I am their only customer, regardless of how busy they are. On the rare occasions something is not in stock both Amy and David will call wherever they have to and find it for me. Even during the crazy days of this Pandemic, both always have a smile and a minute to chat. I hope their boss, whomever that may be, is well aware of the powerful presences s/he has running the pharmacy! They both deserve a raise!! read more

Slow, incompetent and rude - if this is what anyone wants in a Pharmacy this is your place - I'd recommend going anywhere else. This location was always mediocre at best but it has gone so far down that it's not even a place I would trust at all. The staff is extremely rude, their floor labels guiding the line send you to the wrong window (where the very rude pharmacist says nothing, turns away and points to the other window) If they care this little about the basics who knows what else they are shoddy with read more
