Safeway has had my back like no one else. This one in particular for two reasons. Nerinder and Evelyn. Everytime I go in there they always welcome me with open arms and steady hearts. They see when Im hungry and put an extra piece of chicken on my plate. They always smile so bright when we walk in because they know we are about to engage in a good wholesome conversation. That aside, the plates we get are only 9 dollars. 9 dollars for a meal that'll fill you up a lifetime. We've learned to love the hard desiccated bone dry chicken tenders. Not only are they deceptively delicious, they can be used as brake pads and or a weapon if needed! I don't always have pepper spray on me, but I do always have a Safeway chicken tender, which does the job if not better than. Jarred in the deli department is incredible. He's always positive and happy to help. I know I'm picky when it comes to deli meat being sliced thin and he never seems put out by my request like several of the other staff members. It's a breath of fresh air and so appreciated. read more

Absolutely terrible experience, I went to buy some food supplies for camping yesterday and was rewarded by being kicked out by a racist entitled old white female employee by the self-checkout at around 11:30am yesterday 5/26/26 for throwing my friend his water bottle that he paid for 3 feet to him with no one else around to get hurt. She was incredibly rude and had no respect at all for anyone, she was treating other customers with a bad mood as well. Safe to say I nor will anyone else I know be shopping here again. read more

A Safeway isn't our market for most of our weekly grocery needs, but it is our go-to for items such as ice cream, donuts, and coffee beans. I usually wait for weekly deals prior to purchasing said items. This location is convenient for us as it's only a short walk from our house for quickly needed kitchen essentials. It's usually a quick in and out for me when doing errands here as I've been familiar with the layout, having been a customer since 2015. I always prefer to use the self check-out counters as the lines for cashiers are always a wait. Very disappointed in the bagging of this store. I order quite often for delivery and since they went to paper bags only, it is always delivered with torn or broken bags. Tonight they delivered a torn bag that was seriously over-stuffed and ripped all the way down the side. I give the delivery driver kudos for getting to me without anything broken. You revamped your store and raised your prices beyond the quality of what you are selling. I can shop at Nugget, Whole Foods and Raleys and get better quality for a lower price now and lower prices on name brand items everyday. The few times I have gone to Safeway in the past 6 months, because it is right up the street, I have been so disappointed. Hint: If you are going to hire fat unhappy people at least train them to be polite. Raleys/Nugget/Whole Foods Markets have excellent/polite/friendly cashiers who promote repeat business. These markets bag your groceries unlike Safeway whose cashiers are so lazy they stand there doing nothing while the customers bags their own groceries. I came here today after running an errand in the morning and had to buy some groceries. This location is off of sunset in Rocklin next to the Jimboys tacos, this is a very clean establishment very clean atmosphere the first place I visited in the store was a Starbucks since I hadn't had my morning coffee and I needed it. The girl working was very friendly very quick very efficient. My order was done within under three minutes. This establishment is very large very white aisles so you're not bumping the person next to you while you're shopping. I definitely found what I needed today. It was even more surprised to see that when I put my phone number in that I had a five dollars off of my total for my birthday so this works for me. Saving money is always nice. Unfortunately they did not have any donuts today which I was really surprised they weren't making anymore since it was only a little after 9:30 they must have people come in by them by the dozen pretty fast other than that my experience here was great very clean establishment clean parking lot very well stocked shelves very easy to find everything overall my shopping experience here was pretty great today. friendly staff great prices great experience plus they have Safeway gas which if you don't know every time you put your phone number in you earn points so there could be time where you could get $.10 off of the gallon which can't use $.10 off a gallon with gas prices. I highly recommend safely in Rocklin off of sunset great establishment, friendly employees well stock shelves. I've been coming here for a while getting gas and their sign says cash or debit card and you get it to pay about $.10 less than regular credit card price. I pay with my debit card all the time and never once it gives me the debit card price it's false advertisement and it's freaking illegal! read more

This was almost a 1-star review, but Keith absolutely saved the day! I came in around 11 p.m. after a long trip -- tired, hungry, and just wanting some mayo for my sandwich. Unfortunately, there weren't any mayo packets available. I politely asked a cashier near the self-checkout if she could grab some, but she responded in a rude tone, saying, 'They all left, I don't do any of that,' then rolled her eyes and walked away. A bit stunned, I went to find another employee -- and that's when Keith showed up like a hero. Even though he wasn't sure where the packets were, he offered to help without hesitation and found them within seconds. Thanks to him, I finally enjoyed my sandwich just the way I wanted. Keith was kind, helpful, and professional -- exactly the kind of employee who deserves recognition. Unfortunately, the other cashier's attitude was the opposite and really left a negative impression. During checkout, I even noticed her scolding another customer about the app and ignoring us when we left. This is my second review. 5 stars all the way. The last 40 years as an adult, I have been shopping at Safeway and this Safeway has been by far the best experience. The store is clean. The employees and are over the top friendly. Easy to navigate through the store. Even the managers are amazing to deal with. 2 problems. 2015 called and they want there broken grocery carts back. My wife and I laugh every time if we are going to get a grocery cart that doesn't pull to the right or pull to the left or has a stuck wheel. We changed out 5 grocery carts one day to get one that actually performs. Second issue! Do not have store meetings in the middle of the store during open hours. You're in the way. Take it in the back. Nugget Market and Lowe's are famously known for it too. Who are you kidding. There's reality and there's corporate who thinks this is cute and works. read more

Worked at Safeway for two years as a 16 year old so I'm usually not one to leave bad reviews here but the younger kid working self checkout the last 3 times I've went has not understood how tags work , it says 2 for 5 2.50 each , he wouldn't give me the deal even after making me walk to go get a picture of it , most monotone rude worker I've ever dealt with at a Safeway at least act happy not depressed at work, dude was either faded or just genuinely hates his job and lets it show. I just left Safeway after 15 minutes for customer service to come to the register after being approached by three different employees one of them who called over the loudspeaker twice before customer service and still no customer service it was embarrassed just sitting there . I've been here many times and honestly had issues with customer service once before I guess it's just more convenience thinking about. coming to the Safeway near my place of residence I don't I will consider this Safeway on my next trip to the grocery store. I have been using grocery pick up at Safeway for a few years now. Honestly, I would call myself a regular pick up customer, I know some of the employees who bring my groceries out by name. The grocery pick up has been a huge blessing for me. I stuggle with social anxiety, so being able to choose the products I need and not have to be around a whole lot of other people is fantastic. I have tried the Walmart grocery pick up and only have bad experiences... Specificlly the quality of the produce... At Safeway on 2220 Sunset Blvd I have NEVER had that problem, the produce chosen for me has always been quality produce and I greatly appreciate that. I have nothing but good things to say about grocery pick up, every employee who has brought my groceries out to my car has been friendly and professional... There are 3 employees who I usually see and honestly, the brief conversation with each of them makes me smile... Molly has always been friendly and fabulous, even on those rainy day that I show up and she loads the groceries into my vehicle. There is another regular and I wish I knew her name.... I usually see her in the mornings, I do remember she brought my groceries to me Sunday January 14th... anyway she has also always been awesome. Joey is the other employee I usually see, He brought me my groceries Friday January 19th. I really want to mention that one because I placed my order Thursday evening on my Safeway app... When I went to choose a time I noticed pick ups started at 7am which was an hour earlier than usual. So, I chose the 7am slot. I pulled into the parking lot just a little before 7. Joey brought my stuff to my vehicle and was friendly and professional (as always) I get that mornings are hard, and for Joey to be cheerful that early in the morning when it's dark and cold outside was delightful. Oh, I actually do have one negative thing to say about grocery pick up.... It is so irritating when other customers decide the rules don't apply to them and park in the pick up spots. read more

I've never had an issue while shopping in person. The store is clean, it's usually stocked with their advertised sale items and checkers have been fine. However, I've ordered delivery when I'm short on time and unable to shop in person and it rarely goes smoothly. When I've contacted them, I get left on hold for an extended length of time, get lots of apologies, but no resolution. I'm not doing it again. There are other stores that don't have these issues that will get my hard-earned money instead. read more

I agree with the other recent posts on here, I have no clue what's going on maybe it's a specific younger entitled generation but no customer service skills what so ever. I experienced this from three different girls working there, one was a cashier, one was a bagger saying f words to the older male checker wanting to quit, and another was a cart wrangler that blocked me into the cart return area not offering to take my cart with the train she was making, just chose to block me in and not make eye contact and have me wait to get out. I love how conveniently they're located. Produce and fruits are always fresh. Their prices can be reasonable when they go on sale. It's also a good thing that they have a starbucks in store. Staffs are friendly too sometimes overly friendly to the point that 1 cashier chitchatted with one customer about personal stuff while we were waiting in line. Just my thought that chitchats can be done when nobody's waiting in line coz who knows the person in line is in a rush then it could trigger the customer to be annoyed. read more

I love Safeway but this location specifically has horrible staff, I have been here a few times since I moved and I love this place but the service is horrible! A bunch of young adults hired that are untrained and are rude , Inexperienced and careless ! One time a young man put his feet on the register to tie his shoe, as I was checking out, I didn't get his name but another time Makaila was working with 2 males and they were standing and chatting about drinking and bars while I was standing there with my daughter waiting for them to finish their small talk so they can check me out. When we first moved here, I had a great experience. Nowadays when I go, I'm so irked by the customer service. The super nice manager, Hector, has called me a few times and apologized and promised better training, but it seems like every time we end up going there, I leave annoyed. In every Safeway and other grocery store we've ever gone to, we're always greeted with a "Hello," a smile and eye contact from the cashiers. It's just a common courtesy that we've all grown up expecting. With this location though, I don't know what it is. We've encountered a few employees who either don't say a word and are busy just checking out the items, or they're talking with the bagger and engrossed in a conversation. How can they go through a checkout process and not think, hm, there's this customer standing in front of me, maybe I should look at them, greet them, say something?! So then my husband will be getting ready to pay and greet the employee enthusiastically with a "How's it going?" to which the employee will finally wake up out of their fog, smile and respond. Who exactly is the trained employee in this situation then??? (my husband used to work at Safeway too) Now if this happened with just one employee, I could overlook it, but it's happened with so many employees in our 3 years here. Everyone seems grumpy or apathetic. I don't know if it's management not finding more upbeat, happy, friendly people to work there or if they're not being trained correctly, or if they just think upper management doesn't care or what. But it's just...weird. You would think a place like suburban Rocklin would have super friendly, sweet cashiers. I just don't get this location. Also, make sure to check the expiration dates to make sure shelf products haven't expired. And check your receipts to make sure prices are accurate. We've taken stuff home and then discovered it had already expired or we were charged non-sale prices for Fuji apples, etc. It's a pain to have to go back and return stuff, but at least they give you a little gift card for the inconvenience. (Though they're not very friendly when they give you the gift card either!) My husband's theory is that oftentimes we go to the store late at night and there's a different shift that works in the evenings. He thinks that employees know that mystery shoppers aren't working in the evenings, so they can let down their guard. I'm not inclined to believe that because I think that if I was a cashier, there is NO WAY I would be doing my job and think it's okay to not greet customers, just because I know I'm not being evaluated. I just think it's lack of training in basic etiquette. So right now, I'm really disliking this location. And gees, I'm not expecting a lot---just a "HELLO" from the cashier. Is that too much to ask?! And it's not like I'm dying for someone to talk to. I just think it's proper etiquette, otherwise it makes the customer think that they're not welcome in the store or invading the employee's space. I think for the time being, we might stick with Costco, Save-Mart, Sprouts, Whole Foods, Nugget or Bel Air for a while. I'm sure we'll probably come back eventually, since my husband is so loyal to Safeway. I'll update this if we venture back in, and we'll see if things improve in the future. read more

What I like most about this store is that it is clean, to the point that the floors are so shiny that they mirror what passes on them. Another very appreciated aspect that I am truly greatful for, unlike the Lincoln Safeway, is that the deli employees use the tongs to retrieve my much wanted chicken tenders from the case, than grabbing them with a gloved hand. And no matter how many times that I have complained about this to that particular Safeway store's management; there is one older woman there, who refuses to do anything different. The reason for the 4 stars, instead of the 5 stars is because on a number of occasions, when I have been at the check-out; the cashier was more involved in having a deep discussion with the person bagging my groceries, than noticing that I am standing there. read more

Well organized store, featuring cement colored floors.... Not usually aware of grocery store floors, but for some reason these floors stood out as oddly gray. I was able to locate everything and headed to check out only to find 8 people in line for one cashier. At 9 am on a Saturday morning? Another cashier opened a line about 10 minutes later. The cashier was a nice lady who went out of her way to be personable. Hopefully management can schedule more staff. read more

Some of you may not know this but, I am a total neat freak. I have been a neat freak ever since I was a kid (weird I know); my home is always clean, neat and organized. This is why I love this Safeway location; it's gorgeous! My husband and I came to this location last night to pick up a few things and this was our first time coming to this specific location; we might actually make this our regular Safeway store now since it is much closer to our home than the one we usually go to on Douglas. When we walked in, I was super impressed with how everything was super organized, straight, neat and clean too. The cereal and magazine aisles were huge, drink selection was incredible; they featured a wide refrigerated section of drinks (so many drinks to chose from) and their Christmas displays were amazing! I have never seen a Safeway so beautifully decorated before. Customer service was outstanding too as the staff was super friendly. I love the Safeway on Douglas (in which I also gave them a five star rating) but this store for me definitely takes the cake! read more

After living near the Sierra College Blvd location for six years, this place is a nightmare. For one thing, employees glare at you while you go through the aisles looking at things. Once you have found what you're looking for, they are in a rush to get you out, and will not talk to you. As an introvert, that is fine, but you are not even acknowledged.
