This store has really gone downhill since new management . I've been noticing dead roaches at the checkout counter. Dead mice by the grocery carts. The lady Trina in the deli who got my food didn't wash her hands . When I tried to talk to management they were very rude . Racist staff follows me from the second I walk through the door. They wait for me to come out the bathroom and then aggressively follow me as I get a sandwich and go to checkout. Since I go to Safeway often, I enjoy watching progress, or noting any set backs in service. I am appreciative of Tasha and Austin, who were my clerks the other day and had full mask coverage, as did Kelly as usual. Also, for Nina initiating helping me one morning. Sadly, I've been noticing others in the store, recently, who are only wearing a mask covering their mouth, but not nose - this is going on early in the morning and later in the day. What's the point of wearing a mask if one's nose isn't covered?! I want to give a huge shout out to Peter, a manager who was given great praise on Good Neighbor's of Lincoln by an airmen's wife living on base at Beale, AFB. He drove all the way out there after work, to deliver some groceries that got missed being put into her bag. I used to work on base until this year and know how far away it is. Noon on Sunday and this store looks like Food Source on a bad day. Empty spaces on most of the shelves. The only reason for coming here is the produce department. The Bakery is the worst that I have seen at any Safeway, or store in the area. The store includes a gas station, Starbucks, bakery, florist departments and Redbox movie machines. If you need to purchase ice or Dry ice, this store is the place go. The only downside is that the food prices tend to be higher than other stores. Shop the specials or just for your convenience. read more

It's like any other Safeway but what sets this Safeway apart from others is the unfriendly cashiers! On my most recent trip, I ran in to purchase some gift cards. The cashier, young girl, who's name started with an "M" was rude. No greeting whatsoever, my transaction was quite awkward. Me saying, " hello," me saying, "thank you!" One way conversation, awkward! She nearly threw my receipt with no care as to whether I would catch it. Odd thing is, she greeted the customer who was behind me as I was leaving. This isn't the first time...the last incident was a male cashier. Call me "old fashioned" but I appreciate good customer service. I would've written a negative review then, but now I have two different incidents to report with unfriendly cashiers! As far as Safeway goes, I still go to my local Safeway, just don't care for this one. The cashiers here seriously need some customer service training. I was going to give this location one star, but I'm adding an extra star for the fuel station. read more

Hate to do this because the General manager was very nice about a year ago when i sent him an email about a very rude a.m. cashier. Am I the only person that is astonished EVERY time I run in after 8 p.m. to find only one cashier up front with a line a mile long?! The last straw for me was last night.... 8:45 ish- 3 items in my basket, line about 8 deep (I'm 3rd from register). Cashier is paging for backup AND an "override on reg 8" presumably, he needs a mgr. to unlock his register. Finally, backup arrives. At this point I've been in the store for about 20 minutes, 12 mins in line, still holding basket with my 3 items.... Backup grabs a man 2 people BEHIND me. All others behind him start funneling to the other register. At this point assistant manager arrives to unlock our register (2 people have been checked out and left the store that were behind me and my now, furious cell mate behind me) #3 is paying. Assistant manager has saved the day by performing a stellar override after being paged for 10 minutes. He then grabs the other 2 people who had made the terrible decision to get in my line (BEHIND ME AND CELL MATE) I need to note here that myself and sell mate have now been IN LINE for EIGHTEEN MINUTES. Backup turns off his register light and strolls back to wherever he came from.... I am literally turning red with frustration by the time I reach cashier. I say nothing to him because it would be a waste of time and I JUST WANT TO GET OUT OF THE STORE! The assistant manager on duty last night.... He's the one that should have gotten to hear from me and the poor lady behind me. I have chosen to refrain from reaching out to the General manager again, to inform him of the terrible customer service in his absence. I will simply, never go there again. Which is a shame. I was visiting my son in Rocklin, and needed to refill a prescription from Eureka, CA. I first went to Walgreens, only because it was the first pharmacy I saw. They treated me like s- - t, so I went to Safeway. I am a senior citizen, and don't necessarily need to be treated differently than anyone else, but at the Safeway in Rocklin, the two staff members working on Christmas Eve, 2019, were exceptionally nice. They didn't even have the full prescription of what I needed, but gave me enough until the next order came in. I just can't say enough! They are both wonderful. So, go here for nice and competent service for your Rx needs. Avoid Walgreens. read more

Came here on a Saturday at about 11 am with my 9 year old son. We were able to get all of the items on our list and proceeded to check out. Our cashier Rhonda was friendly to the customers in front of us, so I figured she would be with us, but I was wrong. There was no conversation, there was no "hello, thank you, or goodbye". The only thing she said was, "$41.92" which was my total. Even the young gentleman bagging our items did not respond when I thanked him. Walking out to the car my son said, "that was rude." 1 Star for convenience of location, 1 Star for cleanliness, and 1 Star for having the items needed in stock. read more

As far as general groceries go, Safeway can be a bit pricey at times. They do have great produce, and generally, you can get 2 for 1 deals on cereal; but again you have to know your prices. WinCo is the best for general groceries in Rocklin, as their prices are rock bottom. If however, you need something a little more refined, then Safeway has what you need. I LOVE the pharmacy staff at this Safeway location. Dale and Michael are the best at remembering who I am and what I need. Both are very personable, and a joy to work with when I have to fill prescriptions. Also - The deli at this location is good too. Jenn has been behind the counter very frequently this summer, and has made me some stellar sandwiches from the Safeway Select choices. No combo is too wild for her to put together for me, and she never puts anything on the sandwich that I have not asked for. The register staff is generally very helpful, and will go the extra mile should I forget to something on my list at the last minute. My one drawback with this location is the bakery. Hence, I am only giving this store 4 stars. They never have any decent specialty breads left in their inventory after 4PM. The standard Safeway french and sourdough are always available, but how about some dark sourdough rye? I will have to keep wishing for that one I guess. read more

This Safeway is by far the worst Safeway I have ever been to. Every time I am here I say it will be my last trip here, and now I just cannot take it any more especially with so many grocery stores in the vicinity. The lines are always at least 5 carts deep and I have NEVER seen more then 2 lines open and 1 is always the "15 items or less" register. Today I got went grocery shopping for the week and got 2 sandwiches for lunch, the lady at the deli took 15 minutes to make the sandwiches and when she wrapped them in the paper the paper immediately fell apart as well as the sandwiches... I would say she was new, but judging by her uniform it looks like she has been wearing the same dirty Safeway hat for last 5+ years... while my 2 year old is loosing his mind we head to wait in the ever long line for check out. Finally get to the check out and the cashier is friendly and making small talk while someone is bagging my groceries. All of a sudden I look over and the guy bagging my groceries is gone. Just straight up vanished! Now, I am not too good to bag my own groceries but I am also not going to volunteer to take a Union job when someone should be getting paid to do so... the cashier is bagging my groceries as I am wrestling to get my 2 year old back in the cart. Meanwhile the line behind me is growing...Vanishing man appears back and bags the last bag finally. Now that we have to pay for bags I am hoping they are stuffed. But they're not... half full bags is what I got... I have been a loyal Safeway shopper for ever, but this store is just terrible. Every time I go here it's the same thing, and I've always chalked it up to being that they were short staffed that day or new people training but when my check out takes longer than the actual shopping that's a problem. This was the last straw for me. Especially when we have the nugget, Savemart, bel air, and another Safeway all within 2 miles of this place. I typically come to this Safeway location make a quick stop after work to pick up a few groceries for dinner. I have come to this location a handful of times for a sandwich with a co-worker for lunch during the week as well. On Wednesday (11/25/15) I came with a co-worker for a wrap. I advised the clerk what I wanted in the wrap and within 1-2 hours I was VERY SICK! I've also confirmed my co-worker has been dealing with massive stomach issues as well... I will spare the details........however, looking backing at some RED FLAGS no wonder we got sick. The drip pan for the soda machine, yes, it looks like a science experiment! There is grey slim growing as I can't even imagine the last time it was emptied out, washed, etc. Furthermore; the floor behind the deli counter appears as if it hasn't been swept/mopped in decades. There were two white buckets sitting on the floor with deli meat overflowing from them. Where was this meat going? Needless to say I have been SICK since and can't keep anything down. My Thanksgiving was not great thanks to gosh knows what the issue was behind the counter. Was the chicken for my wrap days/weeks old? Was the ranch dressing not kept cool enough? Or was the produce old? I don't know. I regret not taking a picture of the soda drip pan. I would go but I can't leave the house...you get my drift I will be contacting the Health Department to spare the rest of society what we've dealt with. There is only 1 checker who I have ever connected with and who asks how things are when he sees me. Everyone else seems too busy with their conversations or like they don't want to be at work. Last week when I went to get some stuff to make dinner they were out of everything I needed! Bananas were all brown, avocados were so soft the skin broke when squeezed, no pre-made Caesar salads...it was a huge disappointment. Every time I am in this store they only have 2 lanes open and a very long wait! If they weren't so close to my apt I would never EVER return. read more

Well My wife went shopping to this location and purchased about 10+pluc bags full and 3 24pack water bottles . She asked the young man who bags the groceries for help to the cat . His reploed was " you have help " referring to my 10 year old daughter . The cashier was shocked and got another gentleman to help her with her bags to the car . Poor customer service was shown for some strange reason and I no choice but to believe it was because we are Afrikan Americans . The service of helping customers with their groceries to their vehicles is a pastime for Grocery stores . This young man should be repremanded for his blatant disregard for his job and customers. read more

I don't have any complaints about this store. The staff is so nice and one woman cashier in particular is always a delight to be helped by. (Curly longer hair, always smiles) I appreciate that they also have a redbox! I shop here for the mixture of close by and good prices. Not as cheap as walmart but who wants to deal with walmart for some milk and creamer? I wanted to add... they sell cheesecake factory cheesecakes here... so good. This is my favorite Safeway by far! Ok ok, I'm a little biased. I have come to this one so often most of the staff know me by name, and the Starbucks crew do too. I like this one, because it's never really TOO crowded, and there's always a smiling face, and people asking if you need help. The produce section is always stocked and fresh, and the friday specials are always good too! The folks in the deli are definitely super friendly and always have smiles. read more

I just want to thank the sweet lady in the deli department for such wonderful service and for being so amazing. We had ordered some pinwheels from sams club last week to be ready yesterday. We went to pick them up and they told us they didn't have them because their orders didn't come in. I called this Safeway to see if they had any already made and the sweet lady that answered the phone asked what I was looking for and told me she would have it together for me within an hour if that was ok... WOW!!! Such good customer service and sooooooo sweet!! She saved the day!!! Also the gentleman who was there when I picked up the order was so awesome as well. Such a great team. I will always come back to this Safeway for services after this! RE: Deli Department cleanliness I just purchased a sandwich from the deli. Overall friendly service however the counter where you pay was disgustingly dirty and once again no napkins! Is there a manager that oversees this department? If so...take note you are failing in having your team keep food serving area tidyand stocked. This is a very clean, nice, new-looking Safeway. Most items are always in stock, and the produce is pretty high quality. The Just For U app works well, and between the weekly ads and the app, you can get groceries at Safeway for a reasonable price. I wish they had self checkout lanes. It can get very crowded, especially if I go after picking the kids up from school in the afternoon. Self checkout would help with the lines. read more

I have been shopping at Safeway here in Rocklin for about 3 years. I want to write and Comment about how great the employees there are - Especially Meghan Henderson. I believe she's in customer service. Various occasions she has gone out of her to help me and my family from returns to help finding items and always greets us with a smile that can light up the room.
