Signature chicken - fresh, crunchy on the outside, and juicy and tender on the inside! Don't be put off by how dry it looks.

Most recently, the strong smell of feces, the toilet, sewage, unpleasant parts of the City, and more hung heavily in the air of almost half the store and permeated the nostrils. Have you seen a cat wretch and gag from uncontrollable disgust? That's how I felt - Just ready to puke. Others were wearing masks particularly in this store but not elsewhere. It's like they were used to this store. Smh I wasn't gonna buy anything after that. I go to many other reliable Safeway stores anyways. Ooo, look, items on sale! I still walked over and purchased it. Fml This was a 5-star review for this location I had saved as a draft for years: Dependable not just for its convenience right next to the beach but for its reliable, quality food and deals! Yep, firewood is abundant here! Then again even with the fire pit at the beach, I grabbed their already cooked fried chicken!

FLORAL DEPARTMENT I had no idea the people behind the counter were actually florists and able to create a bouquet out of the flowers of your choosing. They charge a small fee for the service (seems undercharging to be honest) I ran in here with 20 minutes to spare due to my aunt's birthday and it was my last hope. I was surprised the inventory was still so fresh as most of the florists I visited in the city this Sunday had spent flowers. Winnie whipped up a bouquet in less than TEN minutes and beautifully crafted a bow with matching pink ribbon.

    What a good deal :)

When Ching Ming Festival (Tomb-Sweeping Day) is coming, I always go to Traders Joe's to get flowers. But this time I went to Safeway because I was lazy and didn't want to go too far away. I chose the closest one to my house. Surprisingly, Safeway is selling nice flowers with good deals. Five dollars for a bundle. I immediately grabbed five but I saw one bundle of flowers that were kinda old. I asked the lady who work at the flowers counter to see if she can help me to wrapped another two bundles. She replied "Yes. I can help you." I told her that those flowers make ritual offerings. She said "I totally understand." Then she said "We sold twenty buckets of flowers in the last week." I admire this lady. She knows what her customer needs. **I usually spend at least $13 for a bundle of flowers at Traders Joe's. And now I know Safeway has a good deals and it is closer to my house. I will definitely come back. ** :)

Actually, I hardly ever go to Safeway anymore. Shelves are always well stocked, store is very clean, and just a pleasant place to shop at. I've never tried the food at the self-serve buffet, but it usually looks pretty fresh. I like that it's never too crowded here, so you can maneuver your way around the aisles easily.

In one incident over a year ago, another customer verbally harassed me and threatened physical harm while I was shopping. Her child was left unattended and was knocking items over, which I reported to security. The guard failed to do his job and did not intervene appropriately. When a supervisor arrived, the situation was handled much more professionally. I should feel safe shopping in my local market. That guard no longer works there, but the experience was upsetting and difficult to move past. Unfortunately, in January 2026, I encountered similar issues with a new security guard. He has repeatedly followed me around the store without cause. Most recently, he approached me unnecessarily, stood uncomfortably close, and spoke to me in an intrusive manner while I was selecting items. His behavior showed poor training and a lack of respect for personal boundaries. These repeated experiences with security staff are negatively affecting the atmosphere at Woodlands. I am a respectful, regular customer and do not want to feel uncomfortable or monitored without cause when shopping. Proper security training and professionalism are essential for customer safety and trust.

In fact, you can snag some good deals on produce and cheese here if you're willing to try something new. Speaking of produce, it's always beautiful here. I don't think I've ever seen an unappetizing leaf, fruit, or vegetable. I discovered this place after parking in front of it for the nearby library branch on the same day I listened to KEXP for the first time. I was prepping for an upcoming weekend excursion, and while I usually buy my groceries in the South Bay, closer to where I'm headed, I decided to change things up and get (mostly) everything in one fell swoop. I believe I got a prepackaged side dish that was delicious. And some fruits and carrots for the road ahead and the weekend beyond. I've returned a couple of times, and the people who work here have always been kind and helpful. It's a busy little place. Spend even a few minutes here, and you'll hear neighborhood acquaintances having friendly conversations about whatever. I got some really good cheese the last time I was here, after returning a book to the library. Are you sensing a theme?

One place in Bernal Heights where you can see and find good drink and food is at the Good Life Grocery on Cortland Avenue. The Good Life Grocery has two San Francisco locations. The first one is in Potrero Hill ( by Loard's Ice Cream) and the second location is in Bernal Heights. Inside the Good Life in Bernal Heights you will see organic produce , coffee , ice cream, and seafood. Great that this place has modernized substantially with the attractive counters for the take and go, deli, and meat sections.
