This is my new go-to. Chef customized vegan dishes to order and recommended other vegan dishes not on the menu. Ask for Saag Aloo and his spinach & chickpeas in red wine. So good.

Saffron was delivered to our employee luncheon @ Malak Jewelers. The chicken biryani & tikka masala were delicious & fresh... the cilantro pita was homemade, as well.

We came across Saffron in an Axios Charlotte article on the 11 must-try Indian restaurants in the area. The article said that the Mahajara dinner for 2 was a great deal, and it was nice to enjoy this meal out on their patio. That sounded great to us, but our experience ended up being quite different from what we'd expected. Upon arrival, we asked to sit on the patio, but they explained that they were short-staffed so weren't serving out there. The inside it still nice, and it wasn't crowded at all on a Tuesday evening. I then inquired about the Maharaja dinner for two, and he explained that the restaurant hasn't offered that deal for years. Okay, good to know. We then perused the menu and ordered two bottled Indian beers (Kingfisher and Maharaja), Kadai Lamb, Yellow Dal, and Garlic Naan. They asked what level (1-10) spiciness we wanted, and we said 3/4. This was plenty spicy for us! The lamb was very tender, and the garlic naan was potent. Yellow dal was fine but a little watery for my taste. Both of the entrees come with rice, so this was a good amount of food for us, and we took home leftovers. Overall the quality of the food was very good, and it came out super fast. We saw the buffet off to the side of the restaurant and asked the server if they do a lunch buffet, but he explained that they haven't brought it back since COVID due to the offices close by not being fully re-opened. He hopes they can start it back up in 2024.

Shrimp Saag, I like mine spicy.

Staff was really nice and food was comforting with its savory flavors. A nice quiet place to relax and enjoy the many flavors it offers.

Amazing food! Its located beside the Piedmont Social House! Give it a try! Food was fresh like the lamb was cut off the sheep. Definitely coming back, if you know anything about indian food. Exotica uptown, this beats them. Its very basic inside but the food i amazing

Food: excellent. Ordered samosas, chicken curry (spice =7) and pagodas. If you like spicy don't be fearful, I wish that I would have chosen a ten for spice level. It was delicious. The pagodas were delicious and I would definitely order them again. Service: attentive. Kept up on our drink refills. Ambiance: nice and welcoming. I would definitely go back!

I ordered to go delivery through a meal delivery service and this transported pretty well. We ordered two orders of the chicken tikka masala, levels 4 and 5 for spiciness. Level 4 was recommended on the ordering app and was advertised as mild to medium and 5 was medium. There was virtually no difference between the two flavors and they were beyond spicy. The flavor was great, sauce was creamy, the rice perfect so I 10/10 will order this again but I will probably tone it down to a 2. I can handle some heat but this was so too spicy for my liking and I was sweating. I'd like to think there was a mix up in the levels added and I'm not that big of a whimp but it was probably me just being a big whimp! The good news is the portions were large so I was able to save some for leftovers. When I reheated the next day, some of the spice disappeared and I was able to eat it no problem! I definitely recommend the garlic naan. It's buttery, garlic galore and flaky. My perfect bite with this meal is getting a piece of naan, a piece of chicken and some sauce and pop it right in! Amazing! I look forward to trying this again!

Tasty Bowl Subs N Such in Steele Creek is worth the drive. I originally discovered Tasty Bowl through a catering website when I ordered 60 bowls for my office, and the feedback from my coworkers was off the charts. After that, I knew I had to check it out in person. Today, I finally made the trip, and it was worth every mile. The location is tucked away in a corporate park, so you might think you're in the wrong spot at first. But when you see the wacky inflatable arms guy waving outside, you'll know you've arrived at Tasty Bowl. Not only did I get to try the food fresh from the source, but I also had the pleasure of meeting Raj, the owner. If you visit, you'll probably meet him too since he's always there making sure every customer is well taken care of. Raj is one of the most friendly, caring, and genuine people I've ever met. We ended up talking for over two hours about food, life, and world issues. He's the kind of guy you could've spent hours on the phone with as a kid, chatting away on a corded landline in the '90s. The story behind Tasty Bowl is just as unique as Raj himself. While on vacation in Jamaica, he hired locals to cook for him during his stay. He was so inspired by their flavors and techniques that when he returned to the U.S., he decided to transform his sandwich shop into what is now Tasty Bowl. After testing out his new creations with customers, they told him he needed to start serving these bowls full-time, and just like that, Tasty Bowl was born. Tasty Bowl specializes in hefty, flavor-packed rice and salad bowls with a variety of proteins, cheeses, toppings, and sauces. You can pick from signature bowls created by loyal customers or build your own from scratch. Tasty Bowl has many gluten-free menu items, making it a great spot for those with dietary restrictions. Whether you're looking for a bowl, salad, or protein-packed meal, there are plenty of options to choose from. If you come here enough, Raj might even name a bowl after you. I ordered the Cheezy Buffalo Bacon bowl, and it was fantastic. It came with buttered buffalo rice, grilled chicken, grilled onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms, all drizzled with hot sauce and shredded cheese. The spice level was just right for someone like me who doesn't like overly spicy foods. One important tip is to make sure to mix up your bowl before digging in so that all the shredded cheese melts and the sauces blend perfectly into the rice. There are many other signature bowls I need to try, and maybe one day I'll finally be brave enough to create my own bowl. If I do, who knows? Hopefully Raj will add it to his menu board so everyone can order it. Raj is also opening a Tasty Bowls & a vegetarian Indian spot in a ghost kitchen in South End, meaning soon you'll be able to order Tasty Bowl and Vegetarian Indian food through third-party delivery services or pick up late-night meals until 1 AM. This place is a hidden secret that everyone in Charlotte needs to know about. If you haven't been yet, make the drive to Steele Creek and see for yourself. It won't stay a secret for long.

The first thing I'll say is pay attention to the portion sizes before you order. Their rice bowls are huge. Seriously. Ask a few questions first so you know exactly what you're getting, unless you're planning on having leftovers for a day or two. I ordered a rice bowl with brown rice and added some chicken wings on the side. The bowl was packed with rice, vegetables, and the sauce I selected, and everything worked well together. The food was flavorful, filling, and honestly more than I expected. I didn't finish it in one sitting, and it took me almost two days to work through everything. The chicken wings were good too, and I liked that they had plenty of options and different combinations to choose from on the menu. They don't have specialty house-made drinks, but they do offer your standard Coke and Pepsi products. The restaurant also has plenty of seating, a few TVs, and a relaxed atmosphere. When I visited, they had soccer playing in the background, which added to the vibe. One thing that stood out was the owner. He was there helping customers, answering questions, and making recommendations. I always appreciate seeing that level of involvement. Overall, this is a solid local spot. My only advice is to make sure you understand the portion sizes before ordering because they are not small. If you're in the Charlotte area and looking for a good rice bowl, wings, or just a filling meal, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try.

She's such a lovely, sunny young woman -- incredibly pleasant to talk to and very responsive to all our questions. We started with mango lassis , one for each of us. I also ordered garlic naan , which is one of my favorites. Since the restaurant specializes in kabobs, I decided to try the garlic chicken kabobs , while my husband went with the veal kabobs . The mango lassi was tasty , though I'd suggest serving it in a glass when dining in -- just a small touch that would elevate the experience. We were also provided with water , which was appreciated, especially with dishes that include rice and bread . My husband's veal kabobs and naan arrived first, followed shortly by my garlic chicken kabobs. The naan did not disappoint -- soft, warm, and full of garlicky goodness . My chicken kabobs were flavorful and came out piping hot , a great sign of freshness. One thing to note for future guests: the kabobs are served without sauce, so don't expect a curry-style dish like tikka masala . We had just two small critiques: 1. The rice served was jasmine, which felt a bit dry and underwhelming. Typically, we're used to basmati rice with Indian cuisine, so this was a noticeable difference. 2. The veal kabobs, though well-seasoned, were overcooked and had a chewy texture . To finish off the meal, I ordered the ras malai -- and wow! It was delicious. I even went back for seconds! The establishment itself was clearly recently renovated . You can tell thought was put into the space -- the color palette was fresh and tasteful, and the overall atmosphere was very clean and inviting . It made for a lovely dining experience from start to finish.

The restaurant has re-decorated and renamed from the Indian restaurant that was here before. It looks very nice and bright inside with beautiful booths that look as if they have crystals nestled into the black fabric. We started off with the chicken samosa. It was delicious ! It reminded me of having a chicken pot pie inside a crispy, puffed pastry. It was served with a tasty green sauce and a tangy brown sauce to dip in. The next time I came, the waiter brought us their special sauce to dip in, and it was even better. It tasted like spicy cilantro and mint. For entrees, my husband ordered the lamb kabobs. They came out sizzling hot, just like you see the fajita meat at Mexican restaurants. They were very good. I got the lamb chetinadu with rice. I asked for it spicy, but it wasn't quite spicy enough. Even my light-weight husband could eat it... so it was definitely weak. They took it back and fixed it, then it was perfect ! (And an entirely different color- it went from brown to a reddish color). I got the garlic naan bread to go with it, but it was not as thick and fluffy as other places. It reminded me of store-bought naan. My only complaint was their mango lassi. It was served in a plastic cup, not a glass, and was really watered down. I doubt I will buy it again. I like it thick and flavorful. Next we tried 2 of the desserts. The first dessert ras malai topped with sliced almonds reminded me of tres leches, except the spongy "cake" was round balls. It was good. The second was carrot halwa topped with cashews. It was ok. Interesting to try different things. They charge extra for credit card, so pay with cash. Also, closely watch what you are being charged. I was almost charged one dollar more than what was listed on the menu for the dessert. I came back 5 days later with my Indian friend and we both got the Hakka noodles (Indo-Chinese). They were very good ! This may be my go-to order. I must say, the Indo-Chinese noodles are better at Aroma because they put more cabbage and carrots, but this was still very good. That would be my suggestion... to add more veg. and they could be just as good. Lastly I tried their mothu kur laddu for dessert. I really enjoyed it. Note this item said $5 on the menu, but I was charged $6 upon check out. I caught it, and it was corrected. My Indian friend was not impressed with the dessert selection. She said most are likely from a can at the store. I personally don't know any different so to my little American self, it was fine. Overall, I'll probably become a regular here. Thinking about inviting a group to join me next week !
