Hidden gem and what a delicious find! Very authentic tasting and flavorful Indian dishes with bright colors and flavors throughout. The tandoori chicken was especially delicious and was baked in a delicious yogurt sauce. Service was very fast and friendly and we learned that this is a very popular place for takeout. Their naan is also fresh and delicious, with flavorful curries to pair with it. We got the lamb vindaloo and were very pleased.

We strolled around the Orinda Theatre Square looking for a bite to eat and came across this wonderful restaurant. As soon as we entered, it was warm inside and the aromas were enticing! We ordered Mary's chicken garlic pakora for appetizer and our very friendly server gave us both mint and tamarind sauces and pickled onions as condiments. They were splendid! I ordered the lamb tikka masala and my wife ordered the salmon tikka. They were both flavorful and tender! For dessert, we couldn't resist some warm not too sweet gulab jamun. Everything was amazing!

We went on Saturday night and they were definitely busy! We had a reservation but they still were confused about what table we would get. The coconut soup was delicious and a very comforting dish! My fiancé enjoyed his garlic chicken pakora and said "they have such a good flavor". The paneer tikka masala and mango chicken were solid dishes and the dhaba style naan was good but not that unique. The bullet naan was advertised as spicy but it should have said "SPICY!" because it was too spicy for us (even with our Indian palates!). Overall it's a solid choice with good food and a popular spot

Overall, the restaurant is great. I wish they had a vegan menu. The service was good but I felt the juice was overpriced. I ordered samosa chaat without yogurt and vegetable biryanj without cheese. I got lucky with finding parking.

I've been a fan of Bangladeshi cuisine ever since I tried it for the first time during a trip to…read moreNew York a few years ago. So when my friend (a regular) decided to take me to her favorite restaurant, I was eager--and glad I wasn't disappointed. Being a foodie myself, and accompanied by another foodie, we didn't hold back and tried quite a few items . We started our meal with seasoned fries (5/5), chicken kebab (5/5), chicken lollipop (4/5), and samosas (3/5). I prefer traditional dough wrappings for samosas, but the potato filling here was really flavorful. We ordered three entrées to share, and everything was 5/5. Chicken tikka masala with garlic naan is one of my favorite meals and my staple when visiting any Indian restaurant, so I know a good one when I try it. I wouldn't say this was the best I've ever had, but I was definitely not disappointed--both of us enjoyed it. The creamy goat rezala curry was a dish I hadn't tried before. As a goat meat lover, it's rare to find diverse goat dishes in restaurants beyond the usual curry or biryani. The meat was super tender, and the creamy, flavorful sauce paired perfectly with polao rice. And last but not least--my favorite item from the menu--chicken biryani. (Mind you, Bangladeshi biryanis are totally different in flavor and texture compared to Indian or Pakistani versions.) The generous amount of well-seasoned, tender chicken with flavorful rice was like happiness in every bite. I was especially impressed with the rice--it could've been my favorite part of the meal even without the chicken. When we arrived at the restaurant, there were three other groups dining. We visited on a Tuesday afternoon around 2 p.m., so I imagine it gets busier during peak lunch or dinner hours. The service was friendly and quick--we were well cared for and attended to throughout our visit. It's a small, family-owned restaurant focused on delivering authentic meals, so don't expect flashy interiors for Instagram. Just go for the food--and you won't be disappointed. The price was reasonable considering the quality and portion of each items. I'm really thankful my friend brought me here. If I lived nearby (I live in the Peninsula), I'd probably be a regular too. But I'll definitely visit again whenever I'm in the area.

Apparently their ticketing system is down and they aren't answering their phone. They are understaffed and only have two people managing the whole restaurant and can't handle The GrubHub orders, walk-ins, and reservations along with the online orders. After an hour waiting for my pick up order, I learned that they don't even have the food that I ordered. And, even though I ordered it online, because I ordered directly through the restaurant there is no way for me to cancel my order and get my money back. So I had to pick something else on the menu. My confirmation said my food would be ready at 7:20 and my substitute food will be ready at 8:30. I highly recommend that you don't order anything from here unless you have at least two hours, you're not attached to getting what you actually ordered, and you're willing to come in and find out that they never got your order.

The first visit, I got the Amritsari fish pakora appetizer and chicken biriyani. Lots of food color on the fish pakora, which tasted fine otherwise. Interestingly, they use mustard seeds in the batter - never, ever have I seen anyone do this on the pakora, but oh well. The coriander/mint chutney that came with the pakora had no salt. The bigger disaster was the chicken biriyani. It was just edible, and I'll leave it at that. On my second visit months later, I got the Goan fish curry and the keema kulcha. Verdict - they definitely are not authentic. Just because you use coconut milk in the fish curry, it doesn't become Goan. They just made up the recipe and call it Goan. The keema kulcha was fine - lots of minced lamb filling, and pretty filling on its own. Ambience looked proper, and the place looked clean at first blush (but I haven't done a sit-down meal here). I taught myself a long time ago to completely avoid Indian food places in the Walnut Creek - Lafayette neighborhoods. For whatever reason, I finally decided to try this place (in some 17 years of living in Walnut Creek). This place also confirms my previous experiences. Will skip this place for good. And leave it to the locals who seem to enjoy the food better.

I ordered the butter chicken (which came with rice), goat curry (entrée only), spinach samosas, and two orders of garlic naan. Everything arrived well-packaged and still warm. The butter chicken was ordered medium spicy, but honestly it didn't taste spicy at all. That said, it was still very flavorful. The sauce was rich, creamy, and smooth with tender pieces of chicken throughout. Even without much heat, the flavor was on point and very satisfying over the rice. The goat curry was excellent. Deep, savory flavor with a nice thickness to the sauce. The only thing to note is that there are quite a few bones, which is typical for goat but something to be aware of if you're not used to it. If you don't mind working around bones, it's absolutely worth it. The garlic naan was really good, and they were generous with the portions. Soft, slightly chewy, and perfect for scooping up both curries. Two orders ended up being more than enough. The spinach samosas came as two large pieces. Even though it's only two, they're big and filling. Crispy outside with a flavorful spinach filling inside. Overall, I ordered all of this just for myself and ended up getting four full meals out of it. Great value for the price and everything tasted fresh and well-made. I would absolutely order from here again and look forward to trying more of their menu.
