I've been coming to this place for 4 years now and the food is actually pretty good but the management and customer service is absolutely awful. I can not even count the amount of times that I've placed an order online through different apps like Grubhub where they just cancel my order last second and I'm left with nothing to eat for dinner. Not to mention when eating in person the owner or main person (I think his name is Roy, it used to be a different owner back in the day) of the restaurant is so rude and always has an attitude to his own customers! Like he's upset that we are giving him business. Not to mention they have gotten allergy information wrong numerous times to cause allergic reactions to my family when written specifically (sometimes they get it right). They also never answer their phone when I am willing to order on the phone and pick it up in person! I'm very upset with their service as I truly do enjoy eating their food. They need to get their stuff on track. Update: Since they ruined my order yet again (or this time cancelled it all together) I tried another Indian Restaurant named Priya, they served me on time, with correct allergy instructions, and their food was so delicious. We have been going to this place now for more than fifteen years. Their Punjabi and Gujarati food is rich and overwhelming in a perfect medley of spices and herbs. Every dish is catered to our taste and spice preferences. We have also catered from this restaurant for many of our large scale events. The quality of the food is simply unmatchable. Having been to many Indian restaurants and of Indian descent, I can say the food from here is definitely one of the best experiences for Indian cuisine. Their service is extremely professional and Mr. Roy (the owner) takes the time to personally cater to all of our details-- little and big. Additionally, the restaurant is clean and it meets all the hygiene standards. We love everything from their menu but a few of our all time favorites and recommendations are their masala chai--Indian tea, Paneer Makhani, cutlets , vegetable biryani, chili naan, and daal makhani. We entered the restaurant and was told by the owner that we needed masks. This is typically not a problem but neither him or his entire staff were wearing masks. I asked why his staff was not wearing masks and he muttered something under his breath in an angry tone. This past Saturday we decided to get some curry for dinner, but the place that we wanted to go to was closed that evening for some reason. Not to deterred on our quest for curry we decided to go here. This was probably some of the best curry that I've had in a very long time. Dinner started with some veggie samosas, they came out hot and fresh with a nice flaky shell. One bite in and we were fans. Added some chutney and it was great. wonderful flavor, a hint of spice, great aroma. Dinner was malai kofta and dum aloo, with rice and naan. Everything was exceptional. In between bites we were telling each other how good everything was, how happy we were that we ended up coming here, and how we were going to make this place a regular destination. Now good food is one thing but with the variety of food options in the area the deciding factor is always service. Every single employee that we encountered there was super friendly. We didn't have to wait overly long for our food, the checks, or anything else. the restaurant was clean. great experience all around. If I had to give one bit of criticism, we would have preferred our food to be a bit spicier but we didn't order it as spicy. the default spice level was plenty flavorful with a hint of spice. I needed to make a reservation for a restaurant that was basically empty and served mediocre food. It took 35 minutes for them to bring 2 small, really overpriced samosas. An hour for them to bring their "special" dum biryani and chicken tikka masala. To be honest probably one of the most bland and flavorless rice I've ever tasted and the chicken tikka masala lacked masala... Excellent restaurant! Being an Indian I am very picky about where I eat Indian food when I go out but this place is the best I have ever been to in United States. The food is full of flavor, the chicken is tender, the service is fast and friendly. Even the owner himself came to ask how the food was and if I liked it. What a great guy. We came here for lunch buffet, it is very good! You can tell the food is freshly cooked, instead of most places they use sauce packets. They have a lot of meat in their buffet dishes. We normally go to cuisine of India in Naperville, we think Saffron is better than that. No need to go to Naperville anymore! I was very pleased with my food when I ordered from here. I was on a time crunch and my food arrived earlier than expected which made me extremely happy. The food was so delicious that I couldn't hold myself back and devoured the nan bread in the car. The nan bread was so soft and taste. I wished I would have ordered double. We just had dinner here and it was really really great! The restaurant is beautiful, the staff is attentive and professional, the owner made a point of speaking with us as we entered and again twice during our stay. He recommended beverages and food. We loved it all! Our table included carnivores and vegetarians and we all had plenty of choices. We had beer and wine with our meal and we liked those as well. I have been a huge fan of Saffron for many years since it was located in Westmont so I was very excited to try out the Bloomingdale location. I'm not sure what happened....new management, chef or entirely new owner maybe? However the food here was incredibly spicy. Flames out of your mouth heat, and I grew up eating spicy food. We ordered takeout and I specifically asked if the paneer dishes were spicy and could they be made mild for my kids. Requested most dishes be mild except for two at medium spice. Palak paneer and daal makhani were full of chopped hunks of jalapeno. Tandoori chicken was spicy and overcooked. My kids were crying because they couldn't eat it and they were starving. Even the adults were choking on it. I understand that restaurants have off days once in a while, but my main concern is their customer service. My dad called to complain and he was told to bring all the food back. There was nothing else that could be done. No apology or even partial refund offered. We will not be returning again. read more

Date of visit 5/14/2019 I did not know about the lunch buffet until I walked in. It has a wide variety of food to accommodate both vegetarians and omnivores. Being the latter, I enjoyed a wide variety of appetizers and entrees during my visit. All of the food was excellent, the staff was very kind and attentive, and the atmosphere was extremely classy. I will definitely return to eat and be treated like a king. I wish I could comment on the authenticity of the food, but I have no real foundation for comparison. I will bring a lab mate of mine out from Chicago to get back to you on that. The only downside to this restaurant is you may eat too much. I know after 2 plates I'm stuffed. read more

I've been to this particular location when it had a different name. The food was always good, BUT the customer service was lacking. WOW! What a turn around!!!! I went here this weekend for their lunch buffet and I was pleasantly surprised at the friendly and attentive NEW staff. We were waited on by Aldo. He really takes his job as a host/waiter seriously and checks on you to see if you need anything else. Even the owner was there and he came over to greet our table. Keep it up Saffron!! Worst experience ever. Arrive on time for pick up and the order not even started. He was not even aware of it. Said 15 extra minutes but was 25. Forgot to give me half the order after the additional wait. Had to go back and wait for it to be made. Added a whole hour to the order time. Portions are misery for price. Nothing comes with rice. Offered nothing to compensate for unprofessionalism. The staff had no problem getting the order out to their family members who were the only people dining. I will never ever go there again. read more
