By chance, and our good fortune, We randomly pulled into the nearest gas station to address the problem. Lucky for us, we pulled into the station in which B&B operates it's auto repair business. We was promptly helped by Lisa who is B&B's manager and "director of public relations". She immediately checked all the tires and found that there were actually two damaged tires that had to be replaced. One tire was ballooned and if not replaced, a blow out, as well as a potentially serious accident, was a very real possibility in our near future. The other tire was damaged but was temporarily repaired and was drivable at low speeds. She and Bobby, the owner, worked out a plan so that we could get to Mtk for the weekend and stop by on Monday to have two new tires mounted on our way back to Manhattan. My significant other and I are very grateful for Bobby and Lisa saving our weekend vacation and possibly our lives, as well! They are great folks who made a trip to the auto repair shop a pleasant experience and at a very fair price, as well!!

What should have been a routine visit quickly turned into an extremely uncomfortable and upsetting experience. My husband is a young Black cargo van operator and the owner of a logistics business. While working in Sag Harbor, he encountered an issue with his cargo van and stopped by your shop seeking assistance. As a business owner who relies on his vehicle daily, he approached the situation professionally and simply needed support to get back on the road. From the moment he arrived, he felt that he was treated with a lack of respect and professionalism. The staff's tone and behavior toward him were dismissive, and he was not given the same level of attention or courtesy that he observed being extended to other customers. His concerns were not taken seriously, and he felt ignored when trying to ask questions about the service being performed on his vehicle. In addition to the unprofessional behavior, he was also overcharged for the services provided. When he requested a receipt, he was told that he would have to pay additional money just to receive documentation of the services performed, which is completely unacceptable. He was also told that he had to pay upfront in cash, which raised further concerns about the legitimacy and transparency of the transaction. More concerning, however, was the treatment he experienced that he perceived to be racially motivated. He was subjected to inappropriate language, including racist slurs, which is completely unacceptable under any circumstances. The manner in which he was spoken to, along with the overall hostility, made it clear that he was not being treated fairly or respectfully. Additionally, my husband was treated disrespectfully as well. He was told that he could not use the bathroom in the auto shop and was instructed to go to a nearby gas station instead. This added to the overall feeling of being unwelcome and discriminated against. No customer especially a paying customer and business owner should ever have to endure discrimination, dishonesty, or disrespect when seeking service. This experience was not only unprofessional but deeply offensive. I believe that all businesses have a responsibility to provide a respectful, inclusive, and professional environment for every customer. Unfortunately, my husband's experience at B & B Auto Service fell far below that standard. We are bringing this to your attention in hopes that it will be taken seriously and addressed appropriately. We expect accountability for this behavior and meaningful steps to ensure that no one else experiences this type of treatment in the future.
