Nice, clean waiting room. Very big compared to other animal hospitals I've been to.

My dog had to be seen fairly urgently on a recent Saturday. There were no appointments available at our regular vet, so we drove 30 min over to SAGE. This was about 11:00 am, and luckily there was only one other person waiting. We were seen promptly, and I feel like everyone we dealt with was helpful and professional, from the receptionist, to the vet tech, and to the doctor. The doctor came up with a plan and explained everything thoroughly. My dog needed a minor procedure, and we were told he would be ready to be picked up in a few hours. My dog was ready in 2 hours, and we were given prescriptions and thorough discharge instructions. The price was fair, and luckily we have pet insurance, so we should get a reimbursement. As a registered nurse myself, this felt like a familiar setting, and I was very impressed with the care my dog received!

i made a yelp account specifically for this warning PLEASE READ: if i could rate sage a 0, i would. I brought my foster baby in at noon when her health was declining and the vet wouldn't listen to me. The vet told me she was eating too much for a 3 week old kitten, but if you go by weight she was eating less than enough. We brought the kitten home and she immediately started to die. I had brought up her bloated stomach because the kitten hadn't had a bowel movement in over 24 hours, but i was dismissed. She had painful diarrhea that made her howl in pain. Have you ever heard a kitten scream in pain? We called SAGE again, but the nurses told us to wait a few more hours to see if symptoms worsened, so that's what we did. 3 hours later at the kitten's next feeding, we discovered that she had expelled more feces from her bowels. we weighed her and she lost over 13 grams of feces and blood. Alarmed, we took her into the vet again where the scolded us for not booking an appointment sooner. We had to put out tiny kitten down because of SAGE's negligence. They do not listen to customer. they do not care about the animals. they only care about the money sent to them by the county. attached are pictures of the fosters SAGE put down from one litter of four.

I'm going to start by saying, Dr Jack (Jack Meagher) saved our cat, Ruby's, life. Ruby came into the ER after being diagnosed at another emergency vets office. It was touch and go for a few days, but Dr Jack thought outside of the box and figured out what was really going on with Ruby and saved her. His entire team was so friendly and took super good care of our baby. After seeing how kind they were, and babied our Ruby, I trust them 100% with Rubys care. The cardiologist (Dr Lori Siemens) who we also saw was just as kind and gave us all the information, plus some, that we needed. We will be seeing Dr Siemens again in the near future and since Ruby will need to be seen by a cardiologist for the rest of her life I'm glad it's her.

Any feedback on their canine cardiologist?

Hi Paola! Thanks for asking about our cardiologists! Dr. Sara Johns and Dr. Lori Siemens are both wonderful, providing us 5 day per week cardiology. We've been receiving lots of positive reviews on both doctors.

From the moment I called and then when we arrived shortly after, they were caring, understanding, and genuinely invested in Duke's well-being. The team reallt went above and beyond to help ease my nerves, explaining everything in a very calm, thorough, and easy-to-understand way. Having that level of clear communication and compassion during a scary moment made all the difference. I am so grateful to everyone there and would highly, highly recommend them. Thank you!

My pup was clearly very agitated, and I noticed there were several patients in the waiting room. I thought it would be best for everyone if I stayed by the entrance. She was incredibly understanding and immediately offered to triage my pup right where we were, which I truly appreciated. Once they discovered what was wrong, everything moved very quickly, and I was understandably very distraught and emotional. During that stressful moment, she showed such kindness and compassion--she even offered us bottled water. It may seem like a small gesture, but it meant so much to us and made a difficult situation a little more manageable. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Dr. To and Nurse Mei for their swift action as soon as they identified what was wrong with my pup, Mia. Their urgency, professionalism, and compassion made all the difference during such a frightening time. They also allowed my partner and me to remain by Mia's side throughout her treatment, which meant so much to us. Dr. To continually reassured us that Mia was going to be okay, answering all of our questions with patience and kindness. We truly felt heard and supported every step of the way. I would also like to thank the entire team involved in Mia's care. From the day shift staff who worked hard to start her IV, to Nurse Mei for making sure Mia was kept warm and comfortable, to the night shift team led by Dr. Wong for seamlessly taking over her care--everyone showed incredible dedication. A special thank you as well to the gentleman nurse who assisted with Mia's discharge this morning. He was gentle, kind, and so thoughtful while removing her IV and EKG stickers, making the process much less stressful for Mia (and for us). From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all for saving Mia's life. We are forever grateful.

We called our regular vet, and with it being a Friday afternoon they had no available appointments. Totally understandable, we were referred to an emergency clinic in Berkeley. The traffic in that direction to berkley was terrible, and by this point my poor dog is shaking and pooping blood. My coworker from Pacifica, overheard my panic as I was on the phone at work with my husband who was with our sick dog frantically trying to find an emergency clinic, suggested VEG veterinary emergency group. She said she had heard great things and took her sick pup there, from Pacifica to San Ramon based on others glowing recommendations of them. I instructed my husband to rush to San Ramon, while I called veg to give them a heads up on my dog being rushed in. By this point, I'd called multiple other "emergency" pet clinics and was frustrated with the lack of appointments (and empathy). I called VEG fully expecting to get turned away and I was pleasantly surprised with how Wonderful, supportive and helpful the front desk gal was. She calmly heard me out, understood that I was at work my husband was in the car speeding towards them with a vomiting shaking, mess of a dog. She texted me an intake form to fill out. And told me not to worry and that they would be ready to help my husband and dog as soon as they came through the door. This place has pet emergencies dialed in. My husband said as soon as he came in, they greeted him and my dog dingo by name and took them in side and seen by a vet FAST. They quickly administered IV hydration, gave him anti nausea and anti diarrheal. They took blood for tests and X-rays ( or ultrasound I'm not sure) to check for blockages. My husband was blown away by the open lobby and the efficacy and compassion. Thankfully seems like our Boy will live to see another day, he's feeling much much better. And we now have a go to location for any pet emergencies. Don't hesitate on driving here from anywhere in the Bay Area for an animal emergency. They are worth the drive and the money. I will say it was not a cheap visit but given the circumstances the care and the efficiency was well worth every single penny. This place is great. Thank you so much VEG. The best in pet emergencies

They kept my dog in an oxygen tank overnight and the next day advised us that she would not make it. I understand that vets advise humane euthanasia but they shouldn't guilt trip the patient's owners into it. Also please know how your pets act because vets and vet techs don't know them as much as you do! Our dog usually pants heavily and gets really anxious and the vets perceived it as her struggling to breathe and even kept advising us that euthanasia was the only way. We opted to bring her home and get a second opinion with her primary vet (who advised us that she was still bright and alert and needed treatment, not euthanasia!) Her primary vet also saw red flags with all the different medication she was given and obviously would cause her body to react negatively. We could have lost her that day to euthanasia but thank goodness we followed our instinct and brought her home. It's been 5 days now and she's starting to eat and drink and get her strength back. When it's time - they will let you know. Humane euthanasia is beneficial, yes. But know how your pets are and always get a second opinion if you're not sure!

I had spent the night debating if I should take my Pug in or not- for potential Aspiration Pneumonia- (wet loud barking sound) and how they can go from better to bad at day 3-7! Anyways, I tried my vet first in the AM and she had explained that they needed X-rays and to hold her - would maybe need to be put under- and for a brachiocephalious dog- if she took a turn while under(wet lungs) they would NOT have what they need to save her- ie oxygen etc to intubate her. So, my Doc made notes and sent over to them, while I headed over. Was greeted by very friendly staff in a clean tidy spacious space. It was probably 8:30am. I was the only customer. Saw Dr Anderson who went over her history of the many recent things that got us to this moment. She did a quick Sonogram? To look at her lungs to see if she could see foreign matter in her lungs. Yes. They were able to do X-rays and not put her under. They were able to discover this GI issue we have been trying to solve- which put her on rice and cottage cheese which led to it in her lungs- and then this Xray. They prescribed Amoxicillin and cans of a Hill's Rx diet. She just finished all that and really has been doing better each day that passes. I just really appreciated the Doctor's thoughtful process and everything we needed for success. She was luckily on the upswing. *This is the Modern ER for your pets. So we called VEG on a Sunday - we were able to speak with Dr. Tracy and she was helpful over the phone. Given his age and handful of symptoms, she did recommend a visit. I brought him in around noon on a Sunday and thankfully beat the rush. VEG is located in a BUSY shopping center with Trader Joe's and Cost Plus. Thankfully they have a few dedicated parking spots out front. We were triaged in the waiting area, and our whole visit took place there. They have dog beds to make the pups/pets comfortable and water/coffee/snacks to make the humans comfortable. The space is light and bright and very welcoming. Most of the team got down to my pup's level and checked him out on the floor - what a lovely touch to make the experience less stressful for my pup (rather than elevating him on a table). Dr. Tracy and Team took great care of us. My guy had an ultrasound and some bloodwork taken, and nothing major was detected. What a huge relief. They were communicative and clear about wait time and pricing. They gave us an anti-inflamtory for the likely neck pain and a script for a pain med, if needed. We saw some more serious cases come in, and the VEG Team acted calmly and with such kindness and compassion. Thank you for all that you do. We hope that we don't need to visit again anytime soon, but if we have another emergent concern, VEG will be our first stop.

She is so kind, thoughtful, compassionate, knowledgeable, skilled, and incredibly understanding. I know Milo has been receiving the best care possible ever since she became his oncologist. She performed multiple tests on him to make sure he doesn't have cancer anywhere else, she listened carefully to all of my concerns, and answered every one of our questions.
