This place grows on you - like mold on a tree. We came here for the first time in the middle of the afternoon and it was unbearable - no lockers, no chairs, long lines for all of the slides. It was rush hour and it wasn't pretty. The next day we came back in time for the opening, and I was able to get through all of the slides in 40 minutes. So here are the takeaways -- The PROs: -- good value. If you're staying in the area or are local, the annual pass can be worthwhile. -- the kids had fun -- a good mix of families of all backgrounds and means. The CONs: -- unsanitary. No attempt to control street footwear, food refuse from the cafe. No soap in the bathroom sinks and no soap in the showers. Not enough lockers. No capacity limit - at peak hours it is an absolute unhinged zoo. -- long lines. For everything. You've read this in other reviews. Be prepared to wait 20+ minutes to go down a slide. TIPS: Eat a hearty breakfast. Bring soap. Get here early. Snag a locker. By 12:30pm, start thinking about going home. We went for the first time a little while back even though we live 15 min away. I saw online how their one thing was closed (Timbuktu) but not having been there before, we didn't think much of it. Gotta say I was pretty sad. We stayed for maybe 1.5 hours after spending about $135. There wasn't much to do and I just felt sick at how much we spent for not much. I have to say this place is a drive for me. But it's worth the drive for adults that want to have a getaway or with the family and kids. Very fun atmosphere. Great staff. Wonderful enviorment. I did not know what to expect when I went here. Granted it's been a few years since I have been back but something I tend to do in the bear future since my daughter is older. Went had our friends meet up with there two daughters and it was a blast. One was 5 and other was a year. This place was great for both age groups. The body boogie board I had to try. That was a disaster for me but lots of fun. This place is great all year round, it's all indoor so you won't freeze. But don't forget your jacket to leave. Get there at opening, leave by 2. My group arrived right at 10am on a Saturday and got a cabana. The cabana was well worth the extra fee, the seating situation is less than ideal, it's just plastic chairs in rows. The food was not good at all, everything is was overpriced as expected. The main water jungle gym thing was closed for repairs, good thing because it looked like it was falling apart. The slides and other attractions were fun, only major complaint was the wait time for the surf rider wave. The employees let each person go so many times and it took so long, and many people were cutting the line which was frustrating. By 2 or 3pm the place was PACKED, like beyond bearable. The arcade was average, nothing special. The people who were having birthday parties there looked miserable in the party rooms. Avoid at all costs! We went there this past Sunday to celebrate a birthday. First of all, you know you are in for something when there are armed security guards at a water park! How bad does it have to get to necessitate arming your security? So let's get into it from there. The water in the pools... Murky is probably the polite way to describe them. If it was a pool deeper than an inch or two, you could not see the bottom. There was enough chlorine in the air to burn my eyes, and I didn't even go in the water. You would think, if there is enough chlorine in the air to burn someones eyes, it could kill off just about anything in the water. NOPE! Rust and grime everywhere. Stairs, the giant water bucket in the middle of the place. And then there is the food. We ordered chicken tenders with fries, mozzarella sticks, a plain personal pizza, two sodas, and a bottle of water... SIXTY DOLLARS! On top of that, everything tasted like it was microwaved, and gave us stomach issues for days after. I grabbed a beer, and took one sip of it just to realize that nobody has cleaned out the draft lines in, well, ever. The beer was a blue moon, and came out as a darker brown. It looked more like a yuengling than a blue moon. Towards the end of the day, someone stole our friends son's brand new camera that he got for his birthday, and nobody there seemed to care. It was fun and great for the kids... but a few things DEFINITELY could have been better. For instance the food... bland, over priced, only tasted decent because of the condiments. I had a great time & so did my 12-year-old. This is a diverse (Welcome to America, Yelpers!) indoor water park with outside components. Safety seems to be paramount. The indoor floors are wet (which is to be expected) without being slippery. It's apparent that care went into choosing the appropriate tile for this. The lifeguards are ATTENTIVE! Although my son swims competitively, this is important to me because I don't like aggressive play & the lifeguards appear sensitive to that also. Although I was too frugal to reserve an $85.00 cabana, I still found seating. We took advantage of the July Discount Days (see site) & paid $24.95/person on-line. I would like to give it more stars but really and truly, I just can not. When we walked in I immediately got a sense of chaos. The bag check is posted at the front door creating a bit of traffic. Once you are cleared you proceed to the long line which moved pretty slowly considering they had each register covered. It seemed to be a bit slow but I could deal with that. We ordered season passes online with a promotion for that holiday weekend. Our process was much quicker than the customers before us. We then proceed to enter and we are right smack inside the arcade room. We were directed to the back where the water park was located and when we entered that room... BAM felt like a sauna! Which was fantastic except we had our coats on still lol. We remove our coats and start looking around because there aren't any clear indications as to what to do and where to go for first timers. No clue where to change, leave your stuff, get a locker, do y'all have towels??? So many questions and thankfully some other guests helped us out. Now we are suited up but we assumed there would be towels but none. Which was ok. Still not a deal breaker. But the floors are SLIPPERYYYY! I was such a paranoid mom holding everyone's hands. Felt slippery and soapy. Between trying not to fall and the SMELL OF CHLORINE!! It smelled like I drank it and it was inside of me. My eyes burned, my throat was bothering me. It's INTENSE! Also, water temps are NOT 80ish. More like a 70s, IF THAT! They sike you out with the hot room. I let my kids do their own thing and went to the adult tub with my mister. The tub is by the doors to the cafeteria. Huge sign warning it isn't a hot tub. Okay cool! But what wasn't cool was the doors to the cafeteria remained WIDE OPEN letting in very cold drafts while you are sitting in a bathing suit trying to appreciate the not so warm jacuzzi style tub that seats about 8! We requested the doors be closed to warm up that area but only one set of doors were closed. The other set remained opened and we just could not take it. It was too cold. After a bit of sitting around and watching the kids run around we went to eat and that cafeteria is FREEZING! How do you comfortable seat your kids in that room to eat in their wet swim suits? Words of advice: WEAR WATER SLIPPERS, TAKE LARGE WRAP AROUND TOWELS LIKE BEACH TOWELS SO YOU CAN COVER YOURSELF IN THE CAFETERIA, YOU ONLY NEED A DEBIT CARD AND ID (try to leave cash and valuables at home or hotel), GO EARLY TO AVOID CROWDS. I have been to many water parks. Sahara Sam does not stand out. My children enjoy it. The water is over chlorinated. During busy times the lines are long and slow. You can no bring outside foods. Like most amusement styled parks, the food they sell is more expensive. We rented a personal cabana. During the week the cabana is $50 but we paid $100 for a weekend. You get 4 waters, 2 outlets to charge you devices, a small table and 4 chairs. The space is about 64 squared feet. I would recommend that you avoid a ride named Kilimanjaro. We bought season passes at Sahara Sam's based on a recommendation from a friend . We bought in January so that we can use for the whole year. Price wise, it's approximately 1.5 x the cost of a regular ticket and our daughter can go in free as she's 2. A few tips just from one trip: - go early when they open and get some chairs around the area you plan to spend the most time. Ours was the little kiddie section and we left our bag and towels there. We did not have our phones or wallets in the bag , and kept them with us. If you have a bunch of personal belongings, just spend $10 for a small locker. Don't risk it. We bought a waterproof lanyard for our phones. - bring towels and extra outwear . In the main area, it is nice and heated but in the pool area and cafe, it's a bit cooler. When we ate lunch in the cafe, it was quite chilly and people used their towels to wrap it around their body. - if you have season pass, you can use your cup to get water (free) , otherwise it's 99cents for other types of drinks. - they do check your bag for food. You May be able to bring in like an applesauce for your kid but don't expect more. You can always go back out to your car if you need anything or want to eat in your car. It's not too bad coming in and out. So what was good with a toddler? There is a small wade area with two slides. There is a pool area in the back to just swim around. There is the lazy river as well. It was good enough for our kid as we spent like 2hours there, grabbed lunch, wrapped up and spent some time at the arcade. By the time we were leaving around 1ish, it was packed! Would definitely not recommend to go during the middle of the day. By then, the area gets messy, bathrooms dirty , etc. Only 90 minutes away from where we live in Brooklyn, it's not a far drive. read more

So we just went down for birthday party. i overall do like the waterpark problem is i think it is under staffed especially for st patricks day!!! They didnt have all the slides open until late which sucks for people going early trying to avoid the crowds and long lines. Kids did have fun and thats what really matters. Staff is friendly. i wish they had someone in the bathroom area at all times cleaning, especially on weekends. I do recommed this waterpark. The overall park experience is fun!! Having gone here for the first time with my children who had already been here before, I was extremely un impressed and at the end of the day I felt ripped off. (First off) The long waits had me already doubting the place. Then being cut multiple times by teens we had finally entered the park lines had been long for rides. (Second) Lockers were not big enough to store anything and were expensive just like the rest of this money trap. (Third) After squeaking in one ride we noticed the lack of life guard, and ride operators did not care for cutting in line or safety. My child had been pushed by 2 young teens, followed by disappointing slides. (Forth) The food was ok at best and the prices were way over what they should be - $6 dollars for a small cup of fries. Very disappointed to say the least. (Fifth) The outdoor area is ok, but after the indoor area it is hard to redeem. Lazy river was too short and small children were using the tubes improperly. Great place to bring the kids, but I would recommend the summer time even though it is indoor. Visited Sahara's this past weekend on Saturday and was not impressed at all. I can vouch for all of the other reviews posted. The park is too small. Expected so much better based off advertisements. Not many attractions and tons of people. The crowds of people take away the enjoyment of this super small place. Long lines for everything! There should really be a limit to how many people are allowed at this facility. The aroma of chlorine is SUPER intense, pretty sure that's a hazard to human health. My eyes burned the entire time. This place desperately needs proper ventilation. The water temperature for the outside pool is freezing, extremely hard to warm up to that and enjoy the water. The "hot tub" is not a hot tub at all. It is room temperature, big disappointment. Rides: Not the best. The flow rider (indoor surfing) needs improvement. How about lowering the water pressure so people can actually open their eyes and not have their trunks falling off and flashing everyone? Lazy river? TOO CROWDED. You cannot lay in your tube and relax due to the amount of people. You will be shoved off your tube in seconds. This is a family friendly place and the choice of music is terrible and inappropriate. Lots of ghetto music and tons of cursing. All in all, they have tons of improvements to make so people can get their money's worth, enjoy their time there and want to come back. Went here today with my son on a class trip. First things first the kids had a blast. Eveybody was nice and being a weekday and chilly today the crowds were in check. Issue is the chlorine here. It's out of control and I was alarmed. My son has asthma. After an hour he was breathing heavily and wheezing. Had to take a lot of brakes. If you or your child have asthma be ready. My sons isn't even serious and it was pretty bad. Here is my main concern. I own a pool and I know when you can smell chlorine to that extent it's not the chlorine you are smelling. It's something called "combined chlorine". Combined chlorine is free chrloine that has attached to things in the water. Sweat. Urine. Skin flakes. Organic matter. So when you smell that strong chlorine smell, it means the water is dirty and that concerned me and after that it was hard to have a good time along with the wheezing child. One child had on a blue shirt. It was bleached ligjht green within an hour. I see other reviews here saying the same. It's a shame becshee we didn't have any staff issues etc and it's a cute little place, but they need to get that water in check or we won't be back. read more

First experience, here about 20 minutes early for a party. They don't offer any tickets until the party arrives which is a huge disappointment and ridiculous there was no real staging area. It was freezing, the only place that had heated water was the big pool, and grotto, people are allowed to dress however they want. Women blatantly wearing bras and under pants as bathing suits, and thongs at a family friendly place. It is not worth it for $40 a person during the week. Lockers; which you need a large for is an additional $20. The amount of money that I spent was not worth it. They check your bags to make sure that you don't bring any food or water in. To bad I can't give this water park no star. My 1 year old is a picky eater and they refused to let me bring in his one little container of food.. the pool smelled horrible. We could find a life jacket for the first hour because they had 20 life jackets for the hundreds of people that were there. It was extremely hot and it honestly smelled really really bad. I'm a firm believer in: make your own experience especially when it comes to water/theme parks. Sadly I found out that this is not true for Sahara sams. We decided to go on a Saturday during a heat wave so we all understood that there would be an even larger crowd than expected. When we got there we waited in line (that reached the other side of the building) to have our bags checked. Fortunately the line was moving quick....enough, unfortunately people were beginning to skip the line. Once we reached the door we notice there's yet another line to check in but that one moved quicker being that there were lots of registers opened (smart). Although we didn't play in the arcade I did notice it and well it was sad. I was expecting it to be a little bigger but I guess it's more for the little ones. Once we were processed through and we entered the water park (since I read so many reviews about it) I was waiting on the chlorine to fill my lungs...instead the heat wave hit. It was 100 degrees outside and inside must have been 15 degrees over that. We spent the entire time wiping sweat from everywhere!!!!! I also noticed how small the actual park is, which didn't bother me at first but looking back now that's probably why it seemed overwhelmingly crowded. First thing my kids decided to get on was the baby slides which was fine except that the lifeguard there kept yelling at the babies. Not kids, BABIES for not getting out of the way fast enough which was annoying. The next was the water fort, the slides were pretty cool but there was one sprinkler that was letting out stinky water, the minute you put your hand in it you can smell the stench. The lazy river was also pretty cool but again people skipping. Now my problem with skipping is that there should be more of the workers present to prevent this from happening. Since you know some adults need supervision. Once we went outside it was nice to get some cooler air. The pools however are far from cool the water was pretty much bath water it was so warm. The food and pricing was not bad at all. The fishbowl (wipeout) was great but definitely can tell that the alcohol is watered down because it took no effect on anyone I was with. I understand that there are things that will happen in parks like long lines, attitudes and possible skipping. These are all things that Sahara sams can't really control, however they can control the heat and the temperature of the water but don't. So if you're going here to cool down on a hot day save yourself some money and go to the beach instead you'll have better luck at some actual cool water. read more

I was a little bit nervous from the reviews, but friends invited us on a bring a friend day ($10 each) and we had a good time! There is a good variety of rides for older and younger kids and a lot to do, especially for an indoor water park. The rides are fun, although the lines can be long during peak hours, although this is to be expected. My biggest complaint is the line to get in the place! We waited for an hour just to pay and get in, and that was with members. It seems like there would be a separate line for members and their guests, or another way to move things alongs more quickly. Overall, we had a good time. For the full price of $34.99 a person, I don't think I would go back. However, for $10 on a bring a friend day, I would give it another run! read more

For an indoor waterpark, it's very well managed and clean. My daughter and I had a phenomenal time here as we were able to go on a weeknight from 4pm-9pm. Must have gone on the slides at least 20 times in total. The staff here was courteous and responsible in keeping everyone safe. There's definitely something for everyone here and I would even recommend coming here if you don't have kids. The food is moderately priced but I did not like the prices for the locker. It was $8 for a small locker plus $20 that you got back after you returned the key. It seemed excessive. Overall, I would come here again as we both had lots of fun. read more

Definitely a great deal if you purchase the season pass at start of year to optimize the value. Decor is dated and park can be better maintained b/c floors always look dirty. The establIshment posts it's 84 degrees (air temperature) inside waterpark, they are NOT referring to the water temperature. A posted sign states water temp is 89 in "grotto (not hot) tub" is same temperature as all other water attractions (see photo). Having said that, we typically only stay about 1.5-2hrs each time we visit before frostbite sets in. Temperatures flux dramatically here every time we come. We've been here 10 times past year but the water temp has only been at 84 degrees once. Average water temperature is usually 78-80 degrees. We've NEVER experienced the 89 degrees ever. We do come because we love the FLowRider (indoor body board surfing ). In short, get the season pass for $45 vs. $30/ day. read more

I purchased tickets online and drove 2 hours to visit Sahara Sam's on Easter, believing their claim that purchasing tickets online "Expedite the Admission Process for You." This was not the case. They were at capacity when we arrived at about 12pm & continued to accept walk up customers. There was no separate line for people who had already purchased tickets online, so we all had to wait out in the heat (80s) even though we had already purchased tickets. When we spoke to employees to inquire about the expedited admission process, they were rude and did not even attempt to accommodate their customers. Once we got inside, it was clear that the place is poorly managed & disorganized. People operating water slides were inefficient leading to long lines. Employees were rude and unhelpful. Very few rides were available without an extensive wait time (50-60 min). The facility did not seem particularly clean either. I would not go back. I would head to Pennsylvania or to Coco Keys instead. At least there they stop allowing people to come in once they have sold tickets to capacity. read more

Sahara Sam. I don't know who you are, but your water park has left me scarred. Your completely negligent staff, specifically the lifeguards, makes me frightened to even think about leaving my child's well-being in your hands. As I come down a tube slide and flip backwards onto my neck, underwater and upside-down, stuck under the tube for a solid 20 seconds, all while your lifeguard is swinging his whistle looking the other way. What if that had been my child that flipped? Your lunch prices make me feel like inflation and the bad economy has hit just West Berlin, New Jersey. Almost $11.00 plus tax for 3 chicken fingers and a handful of fries? Are you serious? I've never paid so much to poison myself. Either lower your prices or let people bring lunch in. The people you attract and that I witnessed doing foul and unhygienic things make me think you're not using enough chlorine. This place is a dump and ghetto. Its a good place for parents to forget about their children and let them terrorize other children as they get drunk at the bar. Awesome parenting. I was injured where a teenager threw a raft in the lazy river and it decked me right above my eye and guess what. I got a HUGE hematoma under my brow and a black eye days later. Its under-staffed with managers who could give two shi*ts about the liability they have with the amount of people there. If you want to be pushed around by punk kids that are neglected by their ghetto families, this is the place for you! GO TO A REAL WATER PARK!!! The bathroom facilities are disgusting, you wonder if they clean the floors. It feels dirty when you walk in. If you get injured, good luck. read more

We went to Sahara Sam's on Feb 15th. It was overcrowded, dirty and reeked of chlorine. But since I traveled 3 hours each way it was not an option to leave with three kids. There were so many people there it was almost unsafe conditions. Waited over 1 hour to ride on the family slide. There were drunk people falling over kids, cursing and giving the finger to staff. When we got home my kids had bad rashes on their legs and their abdomen. I have been there at least 6 times before and have not had this problem. Maybe they are slacking. I called to complain as my children were in pain and itching. The manager Mr. Nolan gave me attitude stating that their place was clean and my kids didn't get the rashes from there. I asked him for return tickets so we could come back in the summertime and he told me he couldn't do anything without the owner, than never called me back. Disgusted! read more

As I was booking my "reservation" it stated over a thousand tickets were still available. Never been here before, I thought that this place was going to be huge if it could hold that many people, especially with Covid still going on. I would have walked back out after entering and seeing the size of this place, if it wasn't for spending almost $50 a ticket. I could see if the outdoor section was open, then it would be acceptable. Half of the attractions were not available, chlorine levels are extremely high( eyes are still burning and it's all I smell), and people on top of people. Glad to have left when we did, because it became even more crowded after 1:00 pm. read more

We went here for a day trip over a long weekend (Rosh Hashanah) and the place was empty. My daughter had a great time. The chlorine made my eyes burn. The facility seemed relatively clean. Most of the lifeguards were attentive but I still wouldn't take my eyes off my child. I was not at all happy with the showers. We needed to rinse off and there was no hot (or warm) water. It was torture, especially for a little kid. Considering how expensive the place can be, warm water would be appreciated. I purchased my tickets through Groupon and I'd never consider paying full price for Sahara Sam's. Not amazing enough and too far away for that kind of money. read more
