This is a baseball stadium. It is a typical stadium for a minor-league baseball team. The concession stands are crowded all the time, the food is all ball-park food. The bathrooms are dated and need a remodel. Mostly, a better team on the field would make the over-all experience a better one. But if you're going there to watch baseball, I think you already know what to expect. I do like the addition of the Micro-Brew stand near the main entrance. Good beer always makes baseball more enjoyable to watch. read more

Now Sahlen Field, another outstanding Independence Day celebration. We started our evening with a decent buffet at Pettibones Grill. Some of the highlights: prime rib, stuffed chicken, sliced pork, HOT DOGS!!(an absolute need at a ball park), various salads and desserts. Well worth the $20 p/p. Also great relief from the humidity. Lori was our server and was outstanding. Heading to our seats, in what i believe is still one of the nicest ball parks in the country, we bumped into a couple of wonderful staff members who helped us out. Great view of the game and some terrific people watching. The BPO was mostly wonderful. The only issue we and those around us was the lovely folks sitting just behind us in Section 122 row U seats 16-19. I wanted to thank you for allowing us to hear your conversations through every selection the BPO was playing. Before you think and say "dude it's a stadium, What did you expect?" I understand that and understand the need to converse when out with friend but could you whisper instead of elevate your voices? The the children and teens could keep their voices down, why couldn't you? The staff at I met from ticket sales, will all, entrance, Pettibones and ushers were outstanding. I have never gone to a Bison's game before unless they are playing my Rochester Red Wings. The field's stadium was so small compared to Rochester. My boyfriend, dog, and I went for the Dog Days in the Park event. It was so cute to see all the dogs and to march in the parade. We had to buy GA to participate so we didn't get to enjoy the variety of food like you would in the seats. We definitely had fun, even though we never got to see the game. It got rained out until 8:30 and we had to leave because we had an hours drive. Very upsetting. read more

As a Jays fan I was a huge supporter of the move when the team decided to have the Bisons become our Triple-A Affiliate team, it only made sense versus where they were before (In Vegas). I have been coming here since I was a little girl to support my hometown team, the buffalo bisons! Of course, the name has changed since then (Dunn tire park forever!!!) but everything else remains the same. For the most part, the staff is friendly (steer clear of Delilah scanning the tickets to get in, she is incredibly rude and clearly hates her job, but everyone else is awesome) and welcoming and helpful. Who in Buffalo doesn't have a good memory of being at this field? Whether you know it by it's current name, Dunn Tire Park, etc. everyone here knows this stadium and has a fond memory, guaranteed. This is the home of the Buffalo Bisons, affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. It's also the home for the Wing Festival, Taste of Country, and i think even a beer festival as well. It's a beautiful outdoor stadium, comparable to most baseball stadium a you've been too for a minor league team. It's not a coveted dome, but with it being situated where it is downtown, the rain cloud kind of roll in and out right over it a lot of times. They have tons of food stands, each year introducing new items and vendor. This year they added apple pie pizza logs (they are insane) and Mac and cheese in a cone. The prices are more expensive than a regular meal out but Jess expensive than a major league game stadium. The staff here is generally friendly, and i need to give a special shout out to my main man Conehead, who has been slinging beers and peanuts for many many years. The Bisons do tons of promotional nights, Friday night bash firework, kids run the bases Sunday's, bring your dog days, themed nights like Star Wars night, superhero night, LEGO weekend, etc., giveaways at the gates and everything you can think of. Located right in the heart of downtown the field is actually pretty small, but has all of the amenities that one needs to enjoy a minor league baseball game. The seats are standard, the restrooms are clean, and the concessions are standard. There is a metro stop right outside of the venue so you can avoid parking, but it's not usually so busy that parking isn't available (especially during the week). Parking is about $10 right across the street and the metro might end up being more than that depending on how many are in your party. What an awesome way to spend an afternoon! After living in Buffalo for 2 years, I had no idea that this field even existed. I really felt at home while I was here watching the game, as I used to live very close to Citi field and frequent the games there. The experience was great, lots of fun, lots of friendly people just looking to enjoy some baseball and soak in some nice weather. They keep the grounds exceptionally clean and being located downtown, there is plenty of parking. Didn't have a chance to try any of the food they had but we did have beer. They had an area for craft beer which was cool, but we stuck to big blue lights. They also had a blue option. You can only buy two beers at a time, and make sure you bring your ID or else you won't be served. As mentioned in previous posts, there isn't a bad seat in the stadium. General admission is about $11 per person and you choose whichever seat you want, which is cool. This past Sunday, the place wasn't crowded at all so we had our pick. They throw t-shirts throughout the game, give baseballs away to fans and sing songs throughout. They have a race towards the end of the game with a chicken wing, hot sauce, bleu cheese and celery. Thoroughly entertaining let me tell ya. My friends and I ACCIDENTALLY said a curse word and got yelled at by man sitting four rows behind us. That was awkward, so make sure if you are coming to the game with your friends and think you might get a little loud that you don't sit near people with little kids. read more

Good stadium, in a good location of the city. There's a lot to do around the field before and after the game, which is more than Rochester can offer. The game we went to was sold out and it was packed. The walkways and concession areas weren't designed to handle the amount of seating they actually have. That being said, the concession prices were surprisingly lower than I expected. I still wouldn't say reasonable, but I feel like they're lower than your average stadium/field. We sat all the way in left field and the sound was terrible. I could hardly understand a word the announcer was saying it was so quiet. I had a wonderful experience watching the Bisons play against Syracuse. I haven't been to a game in many years and wanted to make it to a game after hearing about all the new activities they added. Lines were a little long.. but I guess that is normal for any sports game you go to. Food venders were great. I had some pizzalogs that were ready in seconds and were fresh and HOT. Our seating was way past the diamond on the right side. Section 122.. Im not sure if its first come, first served to get tickets in front of the diamond, but I was still able to see off the BIG screen. It happened to be Zombie night and it was fun seeing everyone who participated and perform the Michael Jackson Thriller dance. I loved how they had entertainment to watch on the BIG screen with the fans by the Kissing camera and best smile. Fireworks followed the game, which is always exciting to see. I came here tonight for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by how large and graceful the field was. We were in one of the suites and the view was excellent! It was amazing to see the 190 and Buffalo buildings, also the rising land out yonder. The service of the catering staff was average. There was plenty of (somewhat cold) beer and the chips bowl was refilled but they served only meat (chicken fingers, hot dogs, hamburgers). As a very hungry vegetarian (having come right from work), I had to get creative. I placed a slice of cheese on a roll with lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and some mustard. It actually wasn't bad but get with the times, people. At the very least serve grilled portabellas. The game itself was enjoyable for baseball. The field was very green and perfectly lawn mowed. There were a lot of kids around and an overall sense of safety and peace. The music played during breaks in the game was quite groovy. A gorgeous night, the Bisons won, no one went hungry. Lots of silly things happen every night-- kiss cam, mascot races, and special themed nights. Today, my girlfriend and I went to the "dog days" game with our pups. Loads of fun but we wish we had been notified that we would have to sit on the lawn. Food is nothing to write home about, but it's acceptable. The guy who took my order today very creepily hit on me, which was not necessary. The thing I was surprised about was I bought a small box of popcorn and an order of fries for only five bucks. Not sure if they had a deal going on today or if the creepy guy was just really smitten ("baby, try a fry. I made 'em special for you."). The only other complaint I have is I ordered tickets online and they were $9 apiece, but with service charges, came to $30 for two. That's just plain silly. This isn't a fancy schmancy venue here, folks. The best part of the games is they rarely sell out and of course, Friday night fireworks. I grew up on the third base line in Pilot Field (It will always be Pilot field in my heart.) After logging over 300 games in my life at this field, there is something insanely soothing about this park. While the park keeps changing (The new Reserved seats are a tad bit bigger. More beer selections. Food fads come and go.), the constants are what makes this place charming. I can always count on: Conehead schlepping beer up and down the aisles while giving his "cold beer guarantee." Kids screaming for Buster Bison. Blue Cheese loosing the silly character race. Catching at least one die-hard keeping score with pencil and paper. While this stadium is deeply tied with memories of my father and childhood, the stadium is one of the best minor league stadiums. The grass is impeccably kept, the women's bathrooms are easy to find and enormous, the lines move quickly for a large venue, and the stadium is always freshly updated and painted. I've cheered for Manto, seen my players step up to The Show for Cleveland Indians, the New York Mets, and Toronto Blue Jays, and was inspired by the Earl of Bud to take tap dancing lessons. This field is Americana at its finest. P.S. The craft beer game has exponentially grown in the past few years. The Mantos Brothers Red Ale is consistently amazing. They now have a Loganberry beer, which I have not tried, but it put a smile on my face. read more

Take me out to the Ball Game, but not only that. On top of being home to the Toronto Blue Jays Triple A affiliate Bisons. Coca-Cola Field is also home to annual events such as the Taste of Country and Wing Fest (held every Labor Day weekend). The stadium itself seems to mirror any other minor league ball park across the US, there's nothing flashy about it, but somehow upon walking in you seem to feel that Great American Past-time nostalgia. The concourse has plenty of concession stand, where you can find your classic ballpark fare (popcorn, peanuts, pretzels, hot dogs, and beer). It was interesting to find that this ballpark also sold craft beer. The food is nothing special, but it not the selling point, don't think many people are frequenting ball games for the cuisine The concourse also has a few souvenir shops located in it, as well as a little Hall of Fame, and multiple restrooms (must say I enjoy that you don't have to walk very far to get to one). As for the Bisons game itself, I feel that it's the typical minor league ball entertainment: kiss cams, dance cams, mascot races, and a few special themed nights through the season. My buddy turned 40 this week so to celebrate, his wife coordinated a bunch of us to hold up signs spelling out "Surprise!". It's the kind of thing you can really only do at a ball game. I was running late but was able to find parking, find Will Call, and make it through the gates and to my seat without ruining the surprise. My constant gripe is with people in crowds that move like groggy cattle. Once you're inside this isn't much of an issue, but the gates and crowded sidewalks can tax my nerves a bit. Move with a purpose, people! As far as food goes - it's never been as good as I remember as a kid. The popcorn was salty. Probably to push the $6.50 beers. The pretzels seemed hours old. The sausage was pretty good. Peanuts are always a win as a food you can only eat at a stadium. I've tried bringing them home and there is no possible way to eat them indoors! Vital side note: If you're going to buy a beer in the stands you have to buy it from Conehead. You won't be able to miss the guy wearing the rubber conehead. He's apparently been there for over 25 years shouting his signature guarantee of "buy a warm beer from me and you're drinking for free!" The seats are comfortable enough for 9 innings. Bring a cushion if you're expecting the game to go long. The leg room is decent which is the biggest thing for me as a very tall guy. On this particular Friday night there was a massive flock of seagulls circling the stands waiting for the feast we would leave behind. It was somehow worse than being circled by vultures... I can't blame them, and I can't blame an outdoor stadium near the waterfront, but man! If I wasn't cursing all of the above when I inevitably got hit with a "gift" from above. Long story short - Eat before you go so you don't spend a fortune, wear a hat, and resist the urge to be that guy that yells annoying quips at the other team! read more

Great ballpark. It's family-friendly with lots of food options, clean bathrooms, cheap tickets, and the ability to sit pretty much wherever you like. The food and drinks are expensive, but that's to be expected at any sporting facility. The games are always entertaining, even if the Bisons aren't playing too well. An extra star for their "Craft Beer Corner." Right by the entrance there is a corner where you can select from no less than 12 different craft beers including Long Trail, Brooklyn, Flying Bison, Saranac and others. This would be a great beer selection at any bar, let alone a ballpark. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for - this beer will set you back $6.75 for a regular 12 oz. Much more expensive than the tall Labbatt Blue/Coors Light being served throughout the rest of the park. read more

Since this is our first summer in Buffalo, hubby and I meant to see a game, but we didn't get around to it until the final week of the season. It's easy to get to. Take the 190 downtown and get off at exit 5. You'll get dumped in about the right area. Follow signs for parking and you'll end up at any number of pay lots or garages, and you'll be able to park for the evening for anywhere from $3-5. (We ended up at Ellicott and North Division, which is a quick walk north of the stadium, and you get multilevel indoor parking for $3.) I'm glad we bought our tickets online and printed them at home. There was a fair lineup at the actual ticket booths outside the stadium, but we were able to just walk in with our preprints. It has that baseball stadium feel. Concrete, tile, junk food smells. There's a craft beer stand at the Swan Street entrance. Considering that a Bud or a Blue is $6, it's worth it to pay $6.75 and get a nice NYS brew instead. (I had Flying Bison Rusty Chain. Hubby wanted an Ithaca Flower Power, and pointed to the sign and said, "That says it's very hoppy!" Some of the chalk was rubbed out, so I said to the bartender, "Does that say happy or hoppy?" "Happy," he said, and hubby was happy with a spectacularly hoppy beer. I'm still getting used to the accent in this town.) It's a short walk to your seat from wherever you enter. The Swan Street entrance is right behind home plate, so if you go in there you're in the middle of the seating already. We sat at field level above the first base line and had a great view. I don't think there was anywhere we could have been where we couldn't see the action. There's very little outfield seating -- the bleachers extend along the first and third base lines as far as the bullpens. Other than that the Bully Hill sponsored patio is out past right field. On a day with no wind you'll want to bring bug spray, but last night there was enough of a breeze that the few mosquitoes we saw didn't get a chance to land. The typical stuff goes on between innings -- featured Little League players and batboys/girls, sponsored pitching games for kids on the field, spectators vying for the attention of the cameraman and five seconds of Jumbotron fame, and mascot mischief. You can tell someone isn't taking things too seriously when there's a race around the field between mascots dressed as celery, bleu cheese, and chicken wings. ("I was rooting for the cheese," I said. "I know you so well," said hubby.) We didn't buy food but snack prices seem to start around $3.25 for popcorn or peanuts. Concessions are diverse, from hot dogs and fries to a "healthy food" booth, and there's also Pettibone's, which is a sit-down restaurant with a field view on the club level. The Bisons fought a good fight but lost 5-2 to Rochester. I like this way better than the Major League games I've been to. Overall there's less hassle and more fun. Smaller stadium, easier parking, lower prices, and (fingers crossed, but so far so good) more fair play and less drama on the field. read more

There's something magical about minor league baseball. What's not to love? The tickets are cheaper, the between-game entertainment more creative, the food and drink options more creative, and the baseball ... well, the play isn't necessarily better, but it's still pretty fun to watch. It's great to be able to go to a sports game and not be bankrupt by the end of it. There are a lot of local foods and local beers available, and of course Blue and Bud too, if that's your thing. There are racing celery sticks, in between inning trivia, and of course creative theme uniforms. It may not be the most picturesque ballpark, but the location is still pretty decent, accessible via the subway. It'll always be Pilot Field to me! Admittedly, I've spent more time on the field volunteering for wing fest than I have in the stands, but last week we went for a Saturday evening game. It wasn't sold out, but it was certainly about 60-70% full and I was impressed with how short the lines were for everything. I don't know if the crowd just wasn't buying, but the workers seemed significantly more efficient than those at the Arena. A good time, a clean facility, and a decent amount of food & beer choices. I am NOT by any means a baseball fan. I find it boring and long, but I did have a very good time here seeing the game last night. I decided to attend a game with a group of friends last night. They all had tickets, so I had to buy my own for the same section when we got there. Only $13 so not bad at all! It wasn't a sold out game so we all got to sit together regardless of where our tickets said we had to go, which seems to be the general rule unless the game is sold out (which it never is except for 1 or 2 times a year). The ballpark itself is really, really nice. For a AAA team, it's very impressive. They have amazing craft beer selection; way better than I ever expected. Sure they cost $7, but the choices are awesome and way beyond your typical Labatt and Molsen. I had a Great Lakes and a Rohrbach Scotch Ale. Some of the between-innings things are cheesy, but it's all in good fun, and it's nice to see the Bisons do well in the game. Being in the heart of downtown, surrounded by the beautiful architecture and the nearby cranes, it's almost easy to forget where you are! Definitely a great venue, and seeing a game every once in a while is not as bad as I would have thought for someone like me who does not care for baseball. read more

The stadium itself is nothing spectacular, I've never seen the the stadium truly packed with people. Nor was the energy really electrifying when I went, but it's the hometown team, and the people who do show up love them! The concession stands are what you would expect from a ballpark - expensive. The prices I saw were about $7.50 for a Bud Light or Labbatt. But they do have a nice soft-serve place in the stadium. You could argue that for the low cost per ticket, you would break even with concession stand food. Parking is a little bit of a hassle. If you can find street parking, great! If not, it's usually about $10 a block away from the stadium, and about $6-8 when you get out to 2-3 blocks away. read more

Came here over the weekend to watch the Buffalo Bisons - the Triple A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. The field is pretty damn nice. It's a nice place to watch some baseball with front row third base line seats for only $12 US. The concessions were basic, but classic ball park stuff. Prices were okay, but the cool thing is they will let you pay with Canadian dollars (with exchange), and give you change back in American. We had a great time. It was both Happy Hour night and Fireworks night. The beers were great. They had many craft brews from Western New York. Can't beat that. My favorite was the watermelon wheat. The Stadium is nice and clean, unlike the park in my hometown of Las Vegas. There were lots of promotions. My only beef is when I emailed them, they said the mascot would be in the crowd throughout the night taking pictures. Well we only seen him in the crowd twice and had to look for him very carefully because he stayed by the concourse both times. A great place for a baseball game and every encounter i had was completely painless, from buying a walk up ticket, getting into the stadium and finding my seat among friends who arrived earlier than me. I always have a great time when I go to a Bisons game. If you plan it right, it can be a relatively affordable night too. They usually have a happy hour before the Friday night games with $3 craft beer and select $3 food (pizza logs, beef in weck). My husband and I stocked up on plenty of drinks and food during happy hour to last us throughout the game. It's a family friendly place so the other fans are usually nice and energetic. The staff that I dealt with were very educated and knowledgable on the ADA laws regarding service dogs. This can be a huge relief for someone like me who might not look like most people's idea of a disabled person and whose service dog doesn't fit that stereotype either.
