"My husband and I come here whenever we can't decide what to have for dinner. My go-to order is the chicken salad rice plate, which comes with a side of soup. The portions are always generous, with plenty of chicken and vegetables. I've also never had an issue with the chicken tasting gamey. My husband usually orders the classic bun bo hue. He says the flavor is good, although the noodle texture can be inconsistent--sometimes they're too soft for his liking. I've tried it once myself, and while the broth had great flavor, I still prefer my usual order. It's usually not very busy when we visit, so we've never had any problems with the service."

Had lunch here .. the restaurant is very open with booth tables on the side and a couple large tables for bigger groups. The restaurants paintings are so pretty! Nicely decorated. Service is good .. servers are attentive and helpful. I ordered the #9 hainan chicken salad with garlic rice while my son ordered the chicken pho plain .. also had some Chinese donuts for our soups. The chicken salad with rice is sooo good! I love it and have not found another place around that serves it this way and this good. My go to when I want a refreshing and savory hainan chicken salad rice plate. My son said the chicken pho was refreshing the broth tasted good. And using the Chinese donuts to dip in the pho broth is a must try! Delicious!

I have never eaten at a restaurant with food this bad before. The only positive thing was that one female staff member and one young male staff member were both very kind, polite, and helpful. When I asked to have the food replaced, they were happy to help. Unfortunately, when the new dishes came out, they were exactly the same. The food was honestly disgusting. I have been wanting to branch out and try a new BBH place, and after scouring the reviews for Saigon 88, I decided to give them a try. The restaurant is located in a quiet strip mall by the United Artists theater. There is plenty of parking. The interior has a lot of booths, some for groups and some for parties of two, so you'll definitely be comfortable while enjoying your hot bowl of soup. The menu is limited, with a focus on Pho Ga and BBH. Obviously I was only here for the BBH, so I went with the BBH 88 one, which comes with all the meats and pork blood. The condiment section has plenty of fixings if you want to add any, including a giant carafe of chili fish sauce. There were only two servers, but they were both friendly and attentive. I was given a carafe of water, which I always appreciate, since I drink a lot of water when eating. My BBH came with a side of fresh herbs as well as pickled onions. I don't often receive pickled onions so this was great. I particularly enjoyed eating them with the pork blood cubes. There were also banana blossoms with the herbs, which I liked, as it seems very few places here serve banana blossoms. It was a bit of a wait for me to get my BBH, and my server thanked me for waiting. I said I didn't mind at all. However, if you are in a hurry, this isn't the place for you. My bowl was huge and steaming hot. I was really happy that I got not just one, but two pork hocks. At my usual BBH place in south sac I only get one, but the portion is smaller. There was a ton of broth. Personally, the ratio of broth to noodles/meat was a little off. The broth wasn't as lemongrass-y as I would have liked, and it also wasn't as flavorful as the place I go to is. It had a good spice level though, and adding extra limes to the broth helped. Next time I'll see if I can ask for some shrimp paste, because it was also lacking some of that funk. The noodles were really nice and bouncy, and the pieces of meat I did receive were tender. The star of the show was of course the pork hocks. Nothing beats their tender fatty goodness. The pork blood was solid and a nice consistency. The cha was thinly cut, but still good. I wasn't able to finish my broth, so I saved a pork hock and some meat along with the rest of the broth to enjoy at a later time. For the price, it was definitely a big bowl of BBH, but it wasn't my favorite. I'd rather go back to my usual spot that serves BBH in a hot stone pot (formerly Tu Quy but now called Pho Plus 101), but Saigon 88 will do if I want a place where I have leftovers to take home.

Good bowl of chicken noodle soup! The fresh noodles were perfectly cooked. The broth was too salty in my opinion. The chicken was juicy and it came with a generous amount of ginger and scallions oil. The Hainanese rice could be served warmer. The wait for the food was a bit long even though the restaurant didn't look that busy.

Classic chicken pho, perfect for the rainy weather we've been having! Service was fast and friendly. The amount of toppings they initially gave us was enough for one person, so we asked for more and they were more than happy to do so. The space is pretty big with plenty of seating for big and small parties. My friend and I both got their chicken pho (which is what they specialize in). I already knew coming in that do not make beef pho! It was so delicious!

I was told this is some of Sac's best BBH and pho. I got the #15 BBH. The broth was good but there were a lot of herbs that I kept choking on. My dad was the same and didn't like how much oil was in the soup. The pork feet was tender and flavor of everything was good but not as special as I was told. The service was good too as the waiters kept checking on us. We went in the day after Thanksgiving and there was already Christmas music player which was cute. I will need to come back again to try the pho.

The food is pretty good. The restaurant is renovated a little bit but still kept the Pho Le layout. The service is good. From entry the greeters greet us and told us which table to sit. They gave us water and menu quickly after we were seated. Twice during the meal they asked us how we were doing. The restaurant was pretty clean and lots of condiments choices were available. We ordered the hainan chicken rice dish which came with soup and #14 noodles. When we eat that it was past 4 pm after a long day of Pokemon raid and it is our first meal (real food) for the day. The chicken seasoning is quite heavy and chicken is quite dry (like cooked in advanced and not juicy). The chicken soup is a bit on the salty side, and maybe it meant to eat with the rice. The beef noodles taste so much better. It was a bit on the spicy side but tolerable. The beef slices are good. Overall I like that noodles way more than the chicken rice dish, which was surprising. The table behind us of 4 people ordered three #4 and one #16. I guess #4 must be good. Will definitely try. Took 1 star off as there are better chicken elsewhere. Consideredbwe were starved and still didn't think the chicken is best chicken ever there will be room to improve! I will highly recommend this place for the noodle fish though, especially if you like spicy food!

I've been looking for a good Bun Bo Hue & I can honestly say I've found it! It was so flavorful & filling - the portions are huge! The staff was nice, there were moments where the waitress was visibly losing patience with us, but overall no complaints! There is lots of seating & was able to accommodate our party of 10+. Adding this to our go-to spot when we're in the area!

Bun Bo Hue: 5/5 So far this is the best place for Bun Bo Hue! I love that there's pigs blood, pigs feet, etc. And the portion was pretty big! Chicken Pho: 4.5/5 It's on the heavier side since there's lots of fried shallots in the bowl. So imo, it wasn't great eating this while sick/hungover, but I'm sure I would've loved it otherwise. But the chicken though, I'd rate it 6 out of 5 stars! It was so tender and literally melts in your mouth, even the white meat! The 'fresh noodles' were okay, I've had better ones but it wasn't bad. Specialty chicken rice plate: 3.5/5 I wanted to love this but the rice was a bit mushy and wasn't the best Hainan rice I've had, in terms of flavor too. The chicken was good, I like the ginger and dried shallots. This dish also felt like it was a bit heavier than expected. Overall, I'd go back again, especially for the bun bo hue! I love that they have a huge bottle of Nước mắm/fish sauce at each table, and I wish they had appetizers or served banh cuon to eat it with. Everything was super flavorful, and if you don't mind a heavier meal, then this would be perfect.

This is our second time coming here and so far, the food does NOT disappoint! I got #10 specialty rice dish and the rice is delicious. The chicken in the dish is extremely juicy and tender, and the fried onion bits with the ginger garnish make every bite packed with flavor! Immediately when you walk in, you can just smell the aroma of authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The staff are very friendly and attentive and make sure you are being served well. This is our go-to spot!

I had a craving for poached chicken and Saigon 88 didn't disappoint. I ordered the specialty chicken plate and it came with seasoned rice and a bowl of chicken broth soup. Rice was perfectly cooked. Chicken was tender but not mushy. There was extra sauce available at the table but I didn't need it. Would definitely recommend this dish.

The classic fresh noodle pho broth lacked chicken flavor. The fresh noodles are thicker and was good, but the portion was small. The specialty chicken rice plate is way better. The rice was aromatic and filled with flavors from the scallions and green onion oil. The chicken pairs very well with their ginger fish sauce. read more

One of my favorite pho spots when I am craving chicken pho. Best Vietnamese coffee ever! The only thing I wished that was different is the broth for the BBH. It is always so warm when I order it like room temperature. Service is good they check in regularly and make sure you get what you need. read more

I just wana say that the food here is delicious, extremely delicious, so delicious that when I eat the dishes here, my soul flies to the clouds and more than that, I cried because the dishes here are so delicious that they remind me of beautiful memories. Tried their #10 com ga hai nam plate and it was really tasty!! Chicken was moist, rice was moist and flavorful, ginger sauce and fried onions were good. We also tried their BBH and it had a good amount of spice and meats were tender. Service was a little slow and we had to flag staff down to order and we went up to the counter to pay, but friendly nonetheless. 88 Saigon is my favorite spot in EG/Sac for chicken rice plates. I have done togo and dined in many times and it always hits the spot. I love the chicken here! I usually get the rice plate. Chicken is super juicy and comes with a generous portion of flavorful rice infused with chicken and chicken broth. It also comes with ginger scallion sauce which is my fave, along with a side ginger fish sauce. All the sauces compliment the dish well. They also have pho and BBH aside from rice which are great options. Highly recommend this spot if you love Vietnamese food in general. read more

Chicken noodle soup was pretty bland and not appetizing. Noodles were a bit on the hard side (undercooked). Chicken in the soup was also very dry and some of the tendon meat were hard. I don't recommend coming here. Only thing good here is the service read more

I went to this place expecting it to offer beef pho like the other pho restaurants in Elk Grove, but they actually only offer chicken pho. If you like chicken pho, I would say that it's worth it to try this place out. But if you want more of the usual of what you would expect to see at a Vietnamese place, this isn't the right place to go to. The chicken pho that I tried was just okay. I didn't really feel like there was anything special about it. The staff was fine, although I've heard that some staff members can be unhygienic. The restaurant itself is pretty nice, but that's mostly because it inherited the building from the previous pho restaurant. They didn't add anything special or made much of an improvement on the previous design. Edit: I forgot to mention that it took more than 15 minutes for our food to come out. 15 minutes is kind of a long wait considering how small the menu is. read more

Dined in yesterday & definitely will be back! FYI that they only offer chicken, no beef. I liked that sliced white onion was served as a side without having to ask. Broth tastes clean and flavorful. Their chili oil has a deeper, robust, roasted taste to it and had a nice kick. Service was efficient & friendly. Interior of restaurant is super clean and welcoming. If you are looking for a good BBH, look no further!! Saigon 88 is really tasty and it has all the fixings in what a Bun Bo Hue should have!! The soup is lite and savory, the right pieces of meat and blood cubes, and everything in between! The chicken pho is good as well! Some places have BBH but it's not the same without the ham hog (pig feet) and the soup is not greasy!! We came in as soon as it opened and the food came out hot and delicious! Will definitely come and order the BBH again. There were only a few of us so service was quick and easy.. the tea wasn't hot but other than that.. highly recommend! read more

First of all the music is too loud! Had the congee but too much fish sauce and a little thick, requested to add a little more broth. The Chinese doughnut that came with it is not crunchy and they give you half the size and still cut in half! Staff are friendly but not so attentive. read more

2.5 stars. Had the bun bo hue, chicken salad and chicken over rice. 1. Bun bo hue - it was ok, Sac has way too many other restaurants that have better. WARNING: My husband added ox tail and for $8 he got only ONE ox tail that was probably 1.5in in circumference and 1.5in tall. 2. Chicken salad was good, probably my favorite dish here 3. Chicken over rice....again there are lots of other places around that have better. Staff was nice but did not fill our waters or bring our veggies for our noodles. read more

Ordered a chicken rice plate when I got home noticed that the rice wasn't fully cooked, I called them called them and explained to them that the rice wasn't cooked all the way. Then they hung up on me. Great customer service. 10+ *sarcasm* never coming here again. read more

Beef pho over chicken pho any day, but Saigon 88 will change your mind! The bf and I each ordered #2 (we never order the same thing!) which is the chicken pho with innards. Only difference is that he ordered boneless & I got bone in. We appreciate that they offer both options. The broth came out piping hot and soooo flavorful. Besides the spicy condiments, we didn't have to add anything. We also ordered the Hainese chicken with rice to share. That too was aaaaamazing! Both the ginger & fish sauce that comes on the side were perfectly seasoned. This is definitely our new go to spot from here on forward! read more

Don't order online. Apparently if you set a time for it to be ready, they will just leave it there until you pick up. I placed an order 11:37 for pick up at 12:00. Broth was not hot at all. On top, I put a note for my bun bo hue tai to "add steam pork". They did not, I was willing to pay extra but they don't pay attention to details. Sad because their BBH is decent but service no thank you. read more

Just want to say this review is for take out. I'll leave another if I ever dine in. Went in and order #2 togo. They were quick with it, maybe just a little too quick. I did notice something was cold in the bag, but wasn't until I got home that it was the freaking Broth! Who the hell gives cold refrigerated broth for togo orders? In all my life and hundreds of togo orders from many different Pho places, the broth are HOT. Meaning they give fresh hot broth made that day. Saigon 88 gives you old cold broth from previous days, not sure how many days old. I don't order pizza take out from a pizza restaurant and get old cold pizza from yesterday. Why would they give you old cold broth? What if i want to sit in my car to eat it at the park? I better get hot broth when I come dine in. P.S. Beef Pho is better than chicken pho anyways. read more

The broth for the chicken pho is really good. I'd recommend either the regular pho or the Saigon special. The staff were also nice and attentive to us. The table for two was kind of small for us but we made it work. Would for sure go again. read more

First of all, this place has only chicken meat no beef or pork. They have congee chicken, rice chicken and phở chicken. Their service is good. Second, their phở gà and any of the phở gà (my family tried it) soup are salty (taste like water and salt plus MSG), no taste of the chicken at all and no smell of phở too. Not recommended if you want to eat phở (gà). Lastly, What i like is the pickle onion, the middle sauce and ice water (while eating phở gà the taste of ice water its soo gooodddd) lolzzz read more

Skimpflation: a lot of good hot broth, not enough meat, noodles, gizzards, or side veggies. Same with their Hanian Chicken plate, all rice and very little chicken. Increase your portion and this place could be a home run. I won't be coming back. read more

Wondering if ya'll burned the taste buds off your tongue from the piping hot broth cause this place ain't it. No flavor. Hardly any noodles or chicken. The dipping sauce on the table is disgusting.
