I just ordered my lunch. I got a Bahn Mi sandwich. When I unwrapped it, I was immediately underwhelmed with the size and flimsiness of the sandwich. Additionally the peanut sauce that came with the salad rolls I ordered was as thin as water and tasted of water as if it were watered down the way your thrifty parent would put water in the ketchup bottle to make it stretch. The worst part was the toothpick that was INSIDE the sandwich that I bit down on!!! Thank god i didn't pierce my mouth on that thing. This restaurant needs to be more careful!! This is a cute, family-run local restaurant. I went for the spicy beef noodle soup. I got the spicy beef noodle soup. I enjoyed the spicy beef noodle soup. That alone should be enough to earn 5 stars. The broth on that soup was perfection. Umami-rich, aromatic, and it came with a plate of basil and limes to add even more wonderful flavors. Service was prompt and friendly, and the food came out quickly. They have a huge menu, and I have only tried one thing. I'll go back to try more. My goodness, where do I even start. I went to this delightful little place with my wife and let me tell ya. Took my dang breath away. I was greeted like a close friend upon my arrival which does my lil heart good then they proceeded to give me the best meal I've ever had in Eugene in about 8 minutes flat. We had the salad rolls and the spicy pork and shrimp plate and a couple of them banh mis and THE PEANUT SAUCE TO BOOT. It's a simple little restaurant without much decoration, but it's clean and spacious. There were just ten tables and only one waitress, and she was pleasant and efficient. Ordered their Saigon house special pho and bun with grilled pork and grilled shrimps. Food was good and fresh, sure beat fast food off the freeway. If you find yourself craving a big bowl of pho on a cold day, or any day, this is the place to come. I ordered the Saigon Special and I thought it was a pretty good bowl of pho. The rice vermicelli was perfectly cooked, plenty of meat (flank steak and meatballs) and the broth had good flavor, not overly salty. We also ordered a spicy pork banh mi and it was a decent size, but maybe smaller than what we've seen in San Francisco, but nonetheless, it was a good banh mi. This is a great place for my home away from home to get a bowl of comfort food and it really did hit the spot. The service was great and the owner was very friendly. Our waitress was very friendly and went above and beyond to make our experience a great one. Our son is around a year old, and he would eat anything if you put peanut butter on it. Our waitress brought out over rice and peanut sauce for our son without any additional cost. The owner was there cooking, and he even came out and interacted with our son. They really made us feel like family. We began with the coconut shrimp, which were crispy and paired perfectly with the chili sauce. Next, we had the pork and shrimp garden rolls. They were fresh and full of delicious, crisp vegetables and a yummy peanut sauce. My husband and I split the Saigon house special pho. I was told they only offer to-go during covid 19, so we called for a pickup order. We tried the house special pho and lemongrass chicken vermicelli bowl. Both so delicious! We have been here multiple times before and like the consistently good food here. This is on the opposite side of town from where I live, but is my #1 choice for pho in Eugene. This place fixed my craving for Vietnamese food last night. I had the Lemongrass Chicken Vermicelli which was delicious. The flavor was there and it had a perfect ratio of vermicelli noodles and all the other deliciousness of the dish. The lemongrass wasn't overpowering, yet you could identify it was there. I added a little Hoison sauce to mine and that really gave it an extra POP of flavor. The service was great, it was nice and quiet when we were there.
