I am impressed with their cup of noodles selection. This Isle alone deserves a 5 stars.

It really should be 4.5 stars but forward looking, I'm confident it will deserve my 5 stars. Saigon City and I had a long history together, I used to go there exclusively as it supported cancer research and I'm a cancer survivor, they donated if I remembered correctly 5% of the sale given directly to VACF.In the beginning it was just awsome, it was like a mini Cho Ben Thanh in Saigon, it had 3 stalls selling fast food, bun rieu, banh cuon, springrolls, etc..then on the left side were 3 mini stores selling souvenirs, fashion jewelry. All those businesses sadly folded I still don't know why, lack of advertisement I guess? They now do have a store selling sweaters, nice stuffs but I already have 4 closets of clothes! LOL! After struggling for the past year, it was finally sold so under new management, the market had a facelift, the signage was bright and had curb appeal, the store was clean but it's too crowed, it was jampacked w merchandise. Their price is competitive, I bought a box of mangoes $12.99 at Saigon market so I got ripped off!! LOL, it was only $10.99 here and it's better quality too. The fish was fresh looking, I had a red snapper fried, it's free to get it fried, it was a cheap and delicious meal at home. This is the best place to buy MAGGI, MADE IN GERMANY ONLY $7, WHOA! they had the smaller bottle also made in Germany 2 for $3, unfortunately it's the hot version, I wish they had wo the jalapenos, I could take it w me on my cruises. Highly recommended, try it you like it.They also have a big selection of popsicles, icecream w Vn ingredients, red bean, durian, mango, taro, etc...

Decent grocery options! Being one of the supermarkets opened later, this place is a holy grail. They just recently remodeled the place and rearranged the produce section. It seems smaller, but is actually a lot more organized. They have a vast range of options and everything is reasonable priced. Some items are definitely cheaper than others. The workers there are really nice and friendly. If you buy a lot, they give you a really large reusable bag to carry your groceries in as well as some snacks. My mom is really picky and this is one of the few supermarkets she'll actually go to. Highly recommend stopping by!

I bought meatloaf (chả lụa) from this market around 7:30pm on 6/23/2024. I put it in the fridge when I get home. When I opened it to eat on the next day morning it had already gone bad, slimey (nhớt). I live 40 mins away so couldn't return it. My family was also treated terribly and rudely at the meat section from a worker there. Very disrespectful. We will never return to this market and make sure to tell all of our friends and families about the bad experience that we got.

Prices are fair but the store seems run down and not sure how clean. It doesn't smell. Perhaps it is just old. They do have a variety but not as large as other Asian stores. It's a great place to go and grab necessities.

Seems to me, it is less crowded than other markets. (If I can avoid crowds, I will). It was Tet New Year season and I needed to get a few ingredients for some dishes I planned to cook. My first priority was the fresh oxtail in the meat department. I have gone to many markets for this cut and it seems this is the best place for a ~2 pound tray of mixed size tails. The fat is all trimmed off, as opposed to other markets that leave a fat layer behind that you are paying for. It also depends on if you prefer leaner tails. Next, the produce section. I picked up some cailan (Chinese broccoli). For the most part, the Asian veggies are pretty fresh - since there is a higher turnover rate of Asian veggies in this area. It was good on this day. So many varieties of green veggies, I love it! The fruit section is also pretty impressive. Papayas, guanabana, dragon fruit, pommelo, tangerines, korean pear, manzano bananas,...Not your ordinary apples and oranges. Dry goods include a plethora of rice, including Thai sweet rice, Japanese rice (perfect for sushi rice), red rice (known for high fiber and low glycemic index)... Who likes Chinese Style sausage? Me! It is called Lap Xuong, in Vietnamese. I love making Thai sweet rice and serve with thinly sliced Lap Xuong - my mom fed us kids this often! And yes, they have a good supply of this here, so stock up, it will last forever in the pantry. Vietnam is the world's second largest coffee producer. You will see the crazy amount of coffee products sold here, for example, Vinacafe. Most are packed as individual serving packets which includes cream and sugar. Too convenient for consumption! Also perfect to have in your pantry. You shall be impressed with the chili aisle. Sambal of all kinds. You can make an awesome pot of chili with this heat! Lots of Lunar New Year items too. I am sure there are still some left for purchase if you didn't have a chance to pick some up yet. They do have a liquor department too. Asians can drink iykyk. If you do, please don't drink and drive. Parking is ok, if you go shopping off peak hours. Market is on Beach Boulevard and it could get pretty busy so plan wisely. So enjoy your visit. The store itself is smaller if you compare it with places like Shun Fat Westminster Superstore or Hòa Bình supermarket. There is only one checkout counter and the staff all seem to be Vietnamese. After walking around, they pretty much have all the basics covered. The focus is Vietnamese and Southeast Asian ingredients and sauces. They have their own seafood and meat counter with number tags where you can ask them to clean or cut fish, plus a small deli to go section. I also noticed their delivery vehicle outside that says wholesale, so it seems like they also supply restaurants in the area. Overall it feels like a neighborhood market that also does some wholesale business. The fresh section looked clean and there was no strong smell. I happened to see ground pork on sale for $2.49 per pound. The regular price was $2.79. Of course I had just paid $3.99 per pound earlier that day at 99 Ranch in Irvine because I wanted convenience. While we were there, a Vietnamese lady next to us was buying a big pile of meat and seafood and chatting with us while waiting for it to be cut. She said she always shops here. She ended up buying the last of the ground pork in the display. We asked if there was any left and the butcher said he had more in the back, so we immediately decided to grab two pounds. I think this place is perfect if you do not want to push a cart around a huge store and just need to pick up a few items quickly. They are open until 8pm. Next time I have more time I will come back and explore a bit more to see what other interesting things they carry. That said, the Japanese yam didn't look very fresh this time, so I ended up skipping it and buying it at H Mart instead, even though it was a bit more expensive. Some items were priced about the same as H Mart, like napa cabbage ($0.99/lb), onions ($0.39/lb), and bean sprouts ($0.99 per pack). One change I noticed is that cucumbers are now pre-packaged instead of being sold loose, so you can't pick them individually anymore. They're also slightly more expensive than H Mart now. However, while packaging them, the bag split open and all four steaks fell onto the floor. The employee quickly picked them up and took them back behind the counter. It appeared that he attempted to rinse them off and package them to sell to me anyway. When he brought them back, I asked, "Didn't those salmon steaks just hit the floor? Could you please get me four new ones?" His response, said quietly under his breath, was, "Oh, you saw that." He then selected four replacement steaks, weighed them, and labeled them for purchase. I was very disappointed that anyone would attempt to sell food that had fallen on the floor. That experience left a very negative impression and made me question the seafood department's food handling practices. The rest of my shopping experience was fine, and the highlight of my visit was one of the restaurants inside the store--a boba and milk tea shop. They have deli meat section, in addition to their frozen section. They even have some ready made dishes in frozen section. They also carry some fresh fruits and vegetables as well as fresh pita bread. I bought fresh mango from the market. Their mango was very fresh, juicy and sweet, just the best. You can find various assortment of drinks too. Yousry was very helpful and friendly. I was very impressed with the quality of the products and the reasonable price. I enjoyed shopping at El Malak Market. Definitely, I will be back!
