The food was good, however we called in the order and was told the wait was 30 minutes. When we went to pick up the food they told us it would be another 30 minutes! Wonderful food! The wait time is pretty long if you are ordering take-out during a peak hour time, like around dinner. This is due to the quality of food they provide that is so OUTSTANDING! We have been eating here for over 7 years and consider it a great Chinese restaurant. The facility is decorated very nicely and is always clean. We have gotten to know the owners pretty well. They are friendly and the workers are almost all family. The main thing you need to know is that the food is delicious!! They specialize in Vietnamese and serve a wonderful Pho. I've been searching forever for an amazing Chinese restaurant and tonight we found it! Chose to try them out for our valentines dinner and it was amazing. The food was hot and you can tell that it was freshly cooked. They brought it out in courses instead of dumping everything at once. Had a large variety of combination dinners and a la carte and very reasonable prices for as good of quality and quantity of the food. Egg flower soup, deep fried prawns, sweet and sour chicken, pork fried rice- all A+. And my husband said the general tsaos was really good as well. Wishing we had leftovers but we scarfed it all. Will definitely be back. They have tons of seating and a giant fish tank that I think my kiddos would enjoy as well read more

I had great hopes for this place. Monroe could use a great Chinese joint. Sadly, Saigon Kitchen fell short. The service was pretty good and the restaurant was clean, but the food was so bland. Literally everything we ordered tasted the same. We ordered "D" which consisted of soup (we ordered egg flower), an appetizer platter (BBQ pork, egg rolls and fried prawns), fried rice, sweet and sour pork, General Tso's, and happy family. Also order a side of beef and broccoli. The only saving grace was the fried rice, delicious! I would probably order some rice to go, but other than that I won't be back. :( read more

Haven't been here in years, decided to try something new and ordered up the Egg Plant Szechuan along with some Wonton Soup and Steamed Rice. I have to say it was the bomb! So flavorful and just the right spice. I ordered takeout and the lady working sat me down at a table and brought me some water while I was waiting, she was also nice and cheerful. Horrible food and worse service. Not once does anyone come to your table without you having to summons them, then they are very rude and annoyed. $55 for one adult and one child with no leftovers. BBQ Pork is poor quality, cold and very gristly. Almond chicken "sauce" was simply soy sauce - nothing else. Chow mein tasted like top ramen. We tried the vermicelli noodle with shrimp, beef, and chicken. The sauce was good, the amount of meat was small, the side salad to mix it all with was fresh, but overall I didn't think it was that good, I didn't like any of the meat. Also had a beef dish and it was too sweet and swimming in sauce. It came with a side of fried rice, wontons covered in a sweet a sour sauce (which made them soggy), and a little egg roll. Not impressed with any of the sides either. In the end we didn't finish our meals and opted for all we had left in the fridge: some odwalla drinks. Won tons on the side were just wrappers, no filling, and I guess because I ordered to go they decided to go ahead and put sweet and sour sauce on them (which I don't like). legitimately the worst dining experience of my life. for these reasons: 1) waiter did not speak 1 word to us the entire time. literally. just handed us menus. never came back to refill our drinks or ask how the food was (which it was not good). 2) we ordered 1 appetizer and 2 entrees. all 3 came out a half hour apart. i was done eating before my date had even received his. 3) my dish had no flavor, and my date's beef dish was mainly sauce and sauteed onions with a few small specks of beef. 4) waited about 45 minutes for the check/cashing out process to be done. spent almost 3 hours at a bad restaurant. Hidden gem of Monroe! Food is excellent and so tasty, and the staff are friendly and efficient. I've lived here for over 20 years with my family and we have never been here until now and it was such a good experience that we're going to make it a regular place for us! So.... there I am at work, having a craving for some yummy, fresh Vietnamese food. I've driven by Saigon Kitchen... says "Chinese and Vietnamese" food on the sign.... I come here (to Yelp), and people are only talking about the chinese food. A little confused... with a name like "Saigon Kitchen", they got to offer Vietnamese food, right? I even call to be sure... I want Vietnamese food.... and the rather dim sounding girl on the receiving end says in a distinctly snyde voice, "Ah... yeah.....", when I ask if, for sure, they have Vietnamese food in addition to Chinese food. So I go. Not only was I unable to find a SINGLE ITEM of specifically Vietnamese food anywhere amongst all the standard Pork Fried Rice, General Tso's Chicken and Wonton Soup.... what I did get (I was already there, after all..) was flavorless, mediocre to poor quality and, as the piece de resistance, I found, of course, a short, curly black hair in my food. Deeescusting. I will most certainly NOT be going here again. read more

I have been going to this establishment for about 24 years. Not ever going back after the last two times. HORRIBLE and I mean horrible service. No refills on water, plates thrown onto the table. The owner is wound up tight and is rude!! I asked for less ice in my drink and asked for a separate glass I was charged for two drinks at that point, because they are unable not to fill up a glass with ice and then trickle a little soda in it. You might get two sips and then charged for two drinks? Horrible service and the portions have become extremely small. Never going back to this place. I would not recommend it at all. After I asked why charged for two drinks when I only had one the owner scolded me and said for the extra glass. I explained I wanted less ice in my glass and to have that happen I needed to remove some of it. She said ok for this time but "Next time you remember" There will not be a next time rude woman!!!!! Decent Chinese food in Monroe. There isn't anything new here, it is standard Americanized Chinese food that won't knock your socks off. The pho leaves a lot to be desired, but there isn't any better in Monroe. The lady who runs this place does so with an iron fist, but she is mostly harmless. I've been eating at Saigon Kitchen for almost ten years. The experience is consistent, the food reliable. The new location is very nice and clean. We like to take our toddler to Saigon Kitchen because he loves pho (go figure) and he can sit by the window and watch the occasional train go by. The atmosphere is almost nicer than a "kid friendly" restaurant, and the kid menu is sparse, but with a mostly well behaved toddler who likes the food, we've never had any problems. This is a good restaurant if you live in or near Monroe, you want sit-down Chinese, and you don't feel like driving very far. Not open on Mondays. read more

It was filled with bean sprouts, plenty of cilantro, basil and onions in a rich broth with LOTS of tofu. I ordered the medium size and had enough for 2 people! We've been looking for good chinese and Saigon Kitchen seemed to get good reviews on yelp. The place was empty when we went in on a Saturday night, which never bodes well. We ordered fresh spring rolls as an appetizer, and veg curry and szechuan shrimp for dinner. You can tell that not too many people must order the spring rolls because, while they were tasty, they were all different sizes and rolled so loosely it was as if I rolled them myself. The entrees were good but they didn't come out with rice. When we told the waiter that they forgot the rice, he said "oh, would you like rice?" Since when do either of those dishes in any asian restaurant not come with rice?!? He brought out a tiny bowl that barely gave us a scoop each so we asked for more. We were charged $2.50 for the rice. It's not that that would break the bank but hey, it's rice and rice in a chinese restaurant should be like chips in a mexican restaurant - just part of the package. The food was good, the service was fine - it's just the rice thing that really was too weird for us. read more

We walked in to see some of the staff eating a bucket of potato salad and fried chicken without a concern for the new customers that came in. We sat down in a booth and continued to be ignored....the restaurant was practically empty...the owner finally waited on us but she didnt seem to care about providing good sevice at all. First time at Saigon Kitchen, the food was ok, nothing special. I tried the usual pork fried rice, chicken lo mein, sweet & sour pork and spring rolls. The rice and lo mein were fine, the sweet/sour pork was way overcooked and didn't finish it. The spring rolls were more breading/dough than filling and very greasy. Outstanding service! Delicious food! This is a great restaurant which offers really awesome food with a very varied selection. We love the General Tsao's, pork fried rice, prawns, and so many other dishes. The service is wonderful and the owner who greets you is so kind. This is a really nice place to bring your family. Have eaten there for a couple years now, and to be honest their food and service have been slowly going downhill. I agree the usuals are getting bland, and the sweet and sour pork is tough as hec. but mostly for us, the portions have gotten smaller and smaller and smaller. Family dinners for 2 come on small dishes and have enough for 1 1/2. I always liked going out for chinese because you would get enough to put some in the cool little box and take home. not there you wont. And if you are ordering to go, they will dump your sauces and gravies on the food and box it like that so it is quite soggy when you get home. I asked her not to do that, to put the sauce in a separate container and she refused, said ONE DOLLAR EXTRA!! didnt care that I was driving home with it. so 2 stars, not the greatest but better than safeway. read more
