I've been have really good luck with Pho places with "Saigon" in their name. So I was pretty excited to give this place a try. Well, it seems like my good luck ran out finally. Their Pho broth was beyond salty. Before adding any condiments, I tasted the super clear broth. I thought immediately that it was watery and spiked with salt or MSG. The broth lacked depth and beefy aroma. I couldn't finish the broth because it was just too much sodium. This place is the least impressive Pho place in the VA-MD area. It was probably some of the best Pho I've had. I had the beef and flank Pho. The broth was delish. The combination eggroll... i nvr have tastes... it had the soft wrapper with all the yumminess and then at its core was a fried eggroll... Genius and amazing. My fiance said he could eat these all day (a bite of an exaggeration but it lets you know how tastey they were). #33... beef, shrimp and chicken... omggggg everything was excellent. This is probably the most reliable restaurant in all of the Annapolis area! When I get tired of trying to convince myself that there must be something stellar in Annapolis proper, I come here. We're always greeted with enthusiasm, whether we come in during their lunch break or 15 minutes before closing time. Hospitality at its best! So.....what can I say about this place.....first it is clean and the ambiance is great... like burgundy/Orange theme. Our server is ok but somewhat slow. It's been years since I last ate at this establishment. The service is still decent and the restaurant is clean. The Vietnamese iced coffee is already pre-made, they do not have the drip type which is what we were looking for. If we had also known the price of the iced coffee, we would have deferred from ordering it. The pho with everything in it (A1) is flavorful even without adding any sauces to it. I still prefer other pho places but my boyfriend really enjoys this one. The crispy fried squid appetizer! YES! Do get that. The summer rolls are okay, but probably wouldn't get it again. It could use more filling inside with the shrimp. We also got the beef, chicken, shrimp skewer on rice with the crispy spring roll. Haven't been to other Bowie pho places but compare to Rockville/College Park/Hyattsville pho places, it's about middle of the road. Pros: - Good portion size for the money - They add just the right amount of pepper in the pho broth - Clean interior - I appreciate the texture of the menu itself, obviously put some work into it Cons: - Bathroom could be cleaner - Quite the portion size is large, the most important ingredients (shrimp, various beef etc) are a bit skimp - Crispy noodles with seafood was pretty salty - The fresh rolls were too simple, where's the cilantro, or other fun ingredients? Overall it's an okay place to check out if you're in the area. I'll give you the good things first-- the service there is great! The server was cordial and patiently helped me with the menu. The noodles were good (though nowhere near the best that I've had). Bad things-- it's not too sanitary. On each table, you'll find a communal tray of chop sticks... Unwrapped and out for anyone to touch. I saw a tray of chopsticks with a horsefly walking all over them. A closer look at the food: the fried chicken egg rolls were average (pre-wrapped with usual veggies and very small portions of meat-- deep fried to death). The soup was very flavorful, the broth could've been a bit more translucent but overall it was good (meat was tinder and other ingredients were fresh). I don't plan to go back too often. read more

My favorite of the Vietnamese restaurants in the area. So far every trip (probably 20 at this point) have been really good. Food is consistent each time. We get a couple appetizers, some pho, some noodle dishes and recently the combination clay pot which is great. Kind of a SE Asian bibimbap. Lately they've been super busy which makes me happy for them as they seem to be doing well, but service doesn't suffer at all. Last night neither one of us felt like cooking and we thought about Asian food. The Saigon House is the closest place and it has been in business as long as we've been here at least 16 years so we gave it a try. I called and the food was ready in 20 minutes. It was generous portions and hot, tasty, and more than met our desire for Asian food. We ordered, beef with crispy noodles. It came in a container surrounded by colorful vegetables. The noodles came in a separate container which was nice. Also we tried the Spring rolls as an appetizer and the 2 rolls were huge. Wrapped in clear noodles that were edible. Yum. My dish was the clay pot rice with seafood, chicken, and beef. It was also with mushrooms, broccoli, and I think bok choy the veggies were firm and not over cooked; just the way I like them. The interior of this restaurant is bright and inviting with a wall of flowing water in the foyer. We will definitely try Saigon Noodle again! I'm pretty sure it's a family run business because on many occasions I've seen the very young and the very old coming to work here, which I like as well. Maybe Vietnamese cuisine is not anything special under the best of circumstances. But our food was ready quickly, came with all the fixins, we were not missing anything and generous portion for to go. Sometimes I hesitate to get to go because it's hit or miss with how much you get vs. how much you would get if you were to dine in. My dad had one is the clay pots and said it was perfect. I have been craving bun cha like crazy so I have been searching through the yelp and I came across this pho place. I wasn't expecting too much of this place so I decided to give it a try. I came here around 7 o'clock and the place is dead. I was a bit skeptical but ordered Vietnamese crepes filled with shrimps, pork and mung bean sprouts and A2 and rice vermicelli with pork and spring roll. Overall, great taste! But the spring roll I ordered had a weird pork smell so I had to spit it out. Grilled pork was nicely seasoned, a bit salty but great flavor. Veggies were fresh and overall great! I used to go to an loi in Columbia for pho but no more. This place has better pho and other dishes are better as well. Gets around 8 o'clock and this place is packed! I took one star off because service was non existent. No one check in with us or asked if we needed anything. I can understand because they were busy but come on. I work in restaurant business and it is not proper ways to wait customers. Their food was good so I'm gonna let it pass this time. I think I'm gonna be a regular here. I hate that I am not two minutes away from a Vietnamese restaurant like I use to be in College Park, but Saigon will have to do. I love Pho ... so I was skeptical upon entering Saigon as I was sick and really needed a pick me up that only Pho could supply. Walking in, the place is a bit run down, kind of a hole in the wall, but the food definitely makes up for it. I had the flank steak pho with spring rolls. The pho wasn't that bad, but I will say I have had better. The broth was a bit more bland than I was used to. The spring rolls on the other hand were very good! We also ordered chicken with veggies which was pretty good as well. Can't go wrong with that! Now for the Vietnamese iced coffee. Every time I go to get Pho, I have to get my iced coffee, so this was Saigon's true test! I am pleased to announce that they passed with flying colors. The iced coffee was amazing! So amazing that I even ordered a second one to go! :D The customer service was a bit slow at times, for there only being 4-6 customers in there, but they were very nice! I've been here once before - dining in with coworkers - and was impressed, hence two stars instead of one. However, I just stopped in for carry-out, and I'm disgusted by what occurred. I was deliberately overcharged for my meal and when I called the cashier - an adolescent - on it, she recalculated my total but attempted to try to overcharge me on tax, upon which I called her out again. When we got the total right (a $3 difference in cost), I was told that I would have to wait until someone came in to replace the paper in the credit card machine before I could finalize my order. Meanwhile, the gentleman who had arrived before me to pick up an order waited while they cooked a dish that he had paid for but hadn't received. I left, hungry and annoyed. I refuse to be shortchanged, even for good food. Next Day Update! Another star taken off upon the realization that the credit transaction they claimed they voided when I cancelled my order did indeed go through - for the amount they overcharged me for!!! And I never signed or authorized anything!!! Now I have to dispute the charge with my credit union. I'm beyond annoyed yet again and wouldn't dare recommend this place to anyone. read more

I love this place. I truly do. OK, as some reviewers have noted, it is not up to the standards of Pho 75 and some of the other Arlington and VA-based Vietnamese pho joints but, even so, it is damn good. I find their pho to be rich, packed with flavor, and they do not skimp on the goodies that you can add at your discretion. Again, it is NOT Pho 75 with its "to die for" broth but it still hits way above its weight in the flavor category and the pho is extremely comforting and yummy. I usually come here for the Pho but I have tried (or sampled from friends) some of the other choices and all are uniformly good. My favorite has been the Rice Vermicelli with a combo of beef, chicken and shrimp. Meat cooked perfectly, wonderful dipping sauces, and excellent noodles...and it comes with spring rolls! (All for under $11) I have tried a few other of their grilled dishes and they seem to excel at that so I don't think you'll go wrong ordering something grilled. My other favorite, oddly, is something called "Ginger Gluten." Yes, yes, I know...sounds like a science experiment but it is on the vegetarian menu and my meat-loving friend orders it each and every time we go there. I couldn't believe something so oddly named could be so loved by a carnivore but I tried it and, I'll be damned, it was delicious. As others have mentioned, their spring and summer rolls are great and the dipping sauces they come with are amazing. A note that has been briefly touched upon here but I will elaborate: Most of the staff has a OK to semi-not-so-good grasp on English. This should not be a problem for your visit but if you go in expecting 5-star service or a staff that is going to be able to intuit all of your dining needs, then forget about it. That said, they are nice, extremely happy to have you there, and will try to do everything to ensure you have a good dining experience. This is authentic Vietnamese food served by authentic Vietnamese people. The food reflects that and you should get over yourselves if that is a problem. If you need to make major adjustments to your order (which you shouldn't...they know what they are doing) then you are probably going to be frustrated because it won't convey. That said, I have had a chance to talk to the owner and most of the staff and they are some of the sweetest people ever. So just calm down about the lack of English skills...you are coming here to eat, not to converse, right? Oh, and the prices are very right. For less than $12 you can easily get a meal that will fill you completely and likely provide you with leftovers. Go there now and enjoy before people figure out how good, and inexpensive, they are. read more

The menu items are very inexpensive, the decor is interesting, and though our server did not speak good English, the service was fast and courteous. We WILL be back in the very near future.
