But tonight's service was extremely slow. Water service took forever, and someone was still missing a glass. Food took about 40 minutes to be served. Thank goodness for great company but we were hungry! Steamed dumplings took over an hour to be served- they must have forgotten even after 3 times asking. Food- we ordered saito sushi- tasted great. My friend recommended ST a couple of times so I decided to try some take out. I am usually pretty skeptical when it comes to Asian food because there are so many poor quality options. The location is tucked away a bit, so I had never noticed it before and it is near my home. The interior needs help. Kind of seedy-looking. They were really busy, so maybe with time they can upgrade the look a bit. There was a confusing set up in front with a reception/register area but no one manning it. Basically, I stood at the counter for a bit looking at the menu. After a few people walked in and went right by me, I figured that even though I was getting take out, I needed to walk into the dining room to be noticed. While I was placing my order, the server(?) was called away twice and then interrupted by customers who couldn't wait to be seated. Just weird. So, I finally ordered and sat down for a long wait. After around 30 minutes, some people who had come in after me were done and on their way out said "Are you still here?" I can't complain when it comes to a large heap of delicious, steamy Vietnamese food at a very reasonable price. Maybe to some, Saigon Tokyo doesn't quite compare to the Vietnamese restaurants in California, New York, or any other metropolitan city, but my tastebuds don't seem to notice the difference (and I've eaten A LOT of Vietnamese in my lifetime). I've also taken many, many friends here before and they've all agreed that it's the best Vietnamese food they've had in Florida. Their fried eggrolls are crispy and plump, their rice and meat dishes are savory and plentiful (I feel my mouth frothing as I type!), and their noodle/soup dishes are bound wonderfully by traditional Vietnamese spices. What's more to ask for? Now I can't really say the same about their sushi. I've tried a few rolls and it's not bad, but I've definitely had better. It hits the spot but won't leave you craving for more. Their service is okay. There have been times when I've had quick and attentive service and other times when I've had to bear a long wait for mediocre to really bad service. Also, the interior of the building could use a bit of a fixer-upper, but I definitely have no qualms with it. All in all, I give this place 4 stars. We've been coming here for years. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. Yes, they need new menu covers, and could update the decor. I try to avoid the older gentleman waiter because he is very blasé about service. But Usha and the other servers try hard. Their sushi is outstanding and I highly recommend the Spicy Fish entree. I had the pho with rare slices of beef. The pho bowl was pretty small and with the extra garnish you throw in there, it practically wants to spill on you. The broth itself was mediocre, not the worst nor the best. The service was bad. I came in during lunchtime. With only two tables there, the server took her sweet time to get me. I sat there for a good 10minutes waiting on water and a menu. After I finished eating, she took bout 10mins to give me my check. I was alone eating so it wasn't like I had a conversation going on. Let me start out by saying that this place was a little difficult for my friend and I to find... it's a little hidden but was worth the trip. Inside the decor is pretty drab and tacky, so minus one star for that. It seriously looks like a dump inside and I expect more from Asian restaurants because they're usually pretty good at having their places look very minimalist / feng shui-ish. The food was pretty good, I was actually surprised. The have a very very vast specialty sushi roll list. My friend and I ordered four rolls off this list and it was entirely too much food for two people. Not bad... Similar to my experience at Pho 16, I'd say that in the context of the world, this place is nothing on the radar but in the context of the Palm Beach area, it's pretty good. Thus, 3 stars is what this place gets. I got to try the rice sticks with grilled pork and egg roll and pho with rare beef. The rice sticks, or really thin vermicelli noodles that I'm used to are thin rice noodles but these noodles seemed more like bean thread noodles, which are more transparent and rubbery and not as chewy. The portion was really generous though with lots of meat, though there was just one puny egg roll. The pho was better than at Pho 16, I must say. It was less greasy, and even though the broth was brown and not clear, like I'm used to, it did have some flavor. I did detect a slight MSG-esque flavor, but what can you do? Beggars can't be choosers - if you want pho in this area, you will have to settle for what you can get. The staff was kind and helpful and service was quick. read more

Caught the sign on 10th as I was going west, was 1 pm, was happy to see the word Vietnamese cause I love pho. I wouldn't bother with sushi at lunch generally and not reading reviews before entering wouldn't take a chance. There was 1 other table being served. I sat in a booth and looked over the menu. The place inside is not very attractive. The floor probably could be redone for starters but ya ya I know it's all about the food - unless of course a place is truly disgusting and this place is clean just dated. It has a long counter with seats for solo dining. The menu is certainly extensive with tons of rolls, hand rolls, special rolls and man o man there must be 50 soups. Put it this way the menu numbers go up to 199 and the total number of items on one side of the menu is 144. The other side.. is hold on, I'm actually counting, 96. That's a lot of choices! I guess if I lived down the street I would probably be a regular and experiment with different dishes, but since this might be my 1 shot I ordered #62 Hu Tieu Hai Vi ( all the menu items are in Vietnamese with descriptions below) The soup is a Bun Nuo'c not to be confused with a Pho which contains beef. The Bun Nuo'c is a vermicelli soup with all seafood in my case. In my head I want to sample the quality of the seafood first to make sure it's fresh and tasty before trying other things. Honestly I wasn't crazy about the amount of surimi or imitation crab meat in the bowl. There was shrimp but no squid. The surimi was tasteless. I guess that's why it can be flavored to taste like many types of fish. The reason it is used is because it is much cheaper. As well I wasn't crazy about the broth. It was very simple and clean tasting for sure but lacking in boldness. I wasn't into the subtlety of the broth. I shot it with lots of hot sauce and Hoisin. For 8.95 I was more than full and was glad I stopped. It was good, 3.5, but not great. (Yelp when are you going to do half stars?) Prices are relative inexpensive, except for the sushi. But this has consequences, including the use of cheaper, red dye ginger (that dye is pretty but has been shown to be carcinogenic). You can ask for dietary modifications to your entree, but you'll (1) first get pushback and (2) ultimately be disappointed as your modification will be ignored. There are just so many similar restaurants around -- why go to one that's not customer-friendly? read more

As is customary in South Florida, Asian restaurants find it hard to commit to a single cuisine. Saigon Tokyo offers both Vietnamese and Japanese dishes, just as the name suggests. I had sushi and enjoyed it. The cut rolls are very large, taste fresh, and are reasonably priced. The edamame appetizer is a large portion as well. The decor felt a little spartan and sterile but the service makes up for it. They do a nice job. I will go back. read more

I live in Orlando now but my parents still live in West palm and I say this is one of my favorite places to go because they have excellent customer service. If you are in town and want to try something local and non-chain restaurant you should definitely give this a chance. I am very surprised that this place tasted so good! I ordered pho regular and their egg rolls. So, the pho.. From the picture looks like pork but the base soup is pork and topped with chicken. I just ordered sushi for pick up and had a good experience. Their customer service is great, their receptionist was really helpful, communicative and kind. The Fantasy roll was really delicious and surprisingly filling. Although the roll was yummy, the only down side was that the shrimp tempura inside the roll had some sort of fishy smell. Where you can tell it was not fresh, and probably kept refrigerated somewhere in their kitchen/kept overnight. That's the only thing that let me down. I can tell it was prob refrigerated because the tempura on the shrimp on each end piece was soggy. Typically, fresh tempura is crunchy. That experience made me feel like they are not the type of restaurant that upholds fresh sushi standards like some places. Also beware that the pricing on some items on their third party online menus are about $3 to $5 off! So no google menu, allmenus.com, or Door Dash. I ordered the Fantasy roll thinking it was $10.95 when it was actually $13.95 lol! The only accurate menu pricing was their direct website. This is one of those places that is worth driving to, no matter where you are....and luckily I live right around the corner. I rarely ate pho before I came to this restaurant, now I absolutely love it. The staff is fun and they remember their regulars! The sushi is good, but the authentic taste of the food is what gets me. The fish in a clay pot is delicious, soft shell crabs are super tasty, and the variety of pho bowls is good.
