This review is not for the food, which is fine (nothing special) but it's for the incredibly rude staff that answers the phone on Saturday night. I placed an order for takeout through Uber Eats. I left a note for an adjustment to my order in the comments section (whenever I do this I always call just to confirm that they saw my comment). The guy rushed me off the phone and said they saw the comment. Clearly my food came incorrect (they didn't read the notes) and when I called to let them know, the same guy who rushed me off the phone, told me that I was wrong- that they did in fact send the right food and then HUNG UP the phone on me! I called back and he full on ignored the call! He needs to be fired immediately as this is no way to treat a (previous) customer especially in a customer service industry. I will no longer be ordering from this establishment as the food is not good enough to warrant such terrible customer service! I'm appalled!!! read more

I wanted to stop by Saigonese for a while. Unfortunately I missed out in their long running Groupon and had to pay full price, and it was pretty expensive. Something like 70 bucks for 2 rice dishes, a pho, an app, tax and tip. Some of the yummiest Vietnamese food I've ever had. The pho is so rich and savory and always has a generous portion of protein in it. Let me start by saying that I have wanted to try Vietnamese food for some time but have shied away for reasons that are not for this venue. Well today is the day I decided to move forward and try it. House special is pork, beef, and shrimp with noodles and vegetables. I already said I loved it but let's say it again for emphasis. The price. - $9.50. Unbelievable Now for the 4 stars.... $20 minimum for credit cards. Very difficult for one person to spend more than $20 for lunch although I might try. Since I was in the area on business paying with a credit card is almost a must for record keeping. Managment please reconsider this. I decided to give Saigonese a try because it had my (Vietnamese) roommate's stamp of approval, and I must say that it is a great find in the Hawthorne area! It definitely satisfied a craving that I'd had for pho: the soup, the noodles, and all the condiments! I do wish they had a greater variety of cuts of meat though. I think they had the basics: meatballs, brisket, and steak, but I would have preferred tendon as well! Also, the brisket was a little thicker than I would have liked, and a little too difficult to chew.. The service is quite spotty, and even though the restaurant isn't all that big or that busy, I had to flag down our server in order to get his attention. Saigonese is a plain restaurant in a small space. The service was friendly and the prices were reasonable. We were really excited to try more Vietnamese food after a recent excellent Vietnamese meal in Philadelphia. We were not able to duplicate the experience. The shrimp spring rolls were bland, more texture than flavor. The peanut sauce that they were served with wasn't enough to give the dish pizzazz. We split an order of brisket pho. I liked it, but the cilantro in it turned my wife off. Next we tried the clay pot salmon with caramel sauce. The fish was OK. The caramelized onions and peppers were OK. Finally, we tried the chicken Saigonese style. The chicken breast was good, as was the sticky rice. The bathroom is as narsty as advertised. He suggested that maybe because it was the end of the night, the kitchen staff was less strict about guidelines. He offered to credit my card(see photo). We came here on a Friday evening around 6:00 PM. It was not too busy, we were seated right away. The waiter was really nice and informative of what was on the menu. My husband and I ordered pho and it was delicious. There was a lot on the menu to choose from so it was a difficult choice. Luckily, I made the right choice! We also had shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce which was delicious. We've been here a few times. The summer rolls are great. We always seem to order the house special pho. What's different is that they serve the sprouts and basil on the side . Of course I pile it on and give a good dose of saracha sauce -awesome. The Vietnamese iced coffee is a must. We love this place and have tried just about everything in the menu . Better than I thought! Passing on S. Central ave outside, Saigonese does not look like much. Even when you stepped inside it looks just okay; which is just fine. However, when younsee and taste the food, then you can start to see why I think this place is a gem in Westchester. Having just moved here from Manhattan in June, I have been trying different restaurants in Westchester. So far there has only been less than a handful of restaurants in Westchester that I can say is as good as those in Manhattan. Although a bit pricier compare to Vietnamese restaurants in Chinatown, the foods at Saigonese are fresh, as tasty and authentic as many other Vietnamese restaurants I have tried in the U.S. Saigonese will certainly be on my list as a place to go in Westchester. read more

Ken and the staff are kind, attentive and abiding by all safety protocol during this difficult time amidst the pandemic. Indoor dining is now available again with pickup orders being an option as well. It's truly one of my favorite spots to go to with my lady and the food never disappoints. Decided to try Pho today since we were in the White Plains area to hit the H-Mart. Started out meal with shrimp spring rolls. These are a cold dish with rice shrimp, lettuce and mint leaves. Really good and flavorful. We both ordered the Pho with beef brisket. As far as Pho goes, pretty decent. On par with Qs in Norwalk. A very light and clean broth and the ingredients were very fresh and the blending of flavored was the perfect mix. Overall a pretty decent place and would come back again. read more

I definitely think this place deserves a higher rating. For being one of the few (authentic!) Vietnamese places in the area, Saigonese is a more than solid option. My friend and I have been here twice and both times we enjoyed our food a lot. We're fans of the shrimp summer rolls, which come with a delicious sweet peanut dipping sauce. I've had both the house pho and grilled pork vermicelli bowl. They're both delicious and the portions are generous. The pho is standard, but good. The broth is flavorful and you get a good variety of meat. It's very hearty, comforting, and filling, as pho should be. Personally I'd like to see more pho customization options that I've seen at other places since I prefer certain cuts of meat over others. The grilled pork that came with the vermicelli was really good. It had a wonderful, smoky char that paired perfectly with the freshness of the vermicelli, salad, and tangy fish sauce. I got takeout, I was in the area and had been meaning to check the place out so I ordered a Banh Mi and the House Special Rice Noodle Soup. The Banh Mi was so so at best and the House Special was disappointing. I'm sorry to say that but at close to $30 for two items and them neither being huge portions or satisfying in taste I won't go back. Overpriced pho. The dining experience was standard, nothing extraordinary. Small, humble looking interior with many warm tones (to rev up your appetite!) I got the special pho and my partner got the regular pho. The regular was not as good as we expected from such an authentic place...and my special pho was alright. Very salty, would've preferred the vermicelli noodles over the size of the rice noodles in this dish. Shouldnt really call it pho because the broth was so tangy and different from normal pho broth. The pigs feet were delicious though--the meat fell right off the bone. The beef was VERY tough to chew on, way over cooked...I eventually gave up trying to bite off pieces and just stuffed the whole piece in my mouth, getting a huge jaw workout in every time I wanted to finish a piece of beef. When driving by this area on Central Ave. I got really excited because I have been looking for any (good) pho places in the area. I work nearby and lately my coworkers and I have been exploring White Plains and the surrounding neighborhoods for any good eateries. I noticed the cute little building, but also saw that the parking lot was relatively vacant. I wasn't expecting amazing pho (not that I would even recognize it if it was amazing, I'm by no means an expert on Vietnamese cuisine), but the food here was just OK. I got the brisket pho and the broth wasn't anything special. It didn't really have any depth of flavor. I'm not sure how they prepare it, but it just didn't taste like a broth that had been stewing for hours and hours. Surprisingly, even the noodles were just OK. Maybe pho just isn't their specialty and I should have tried something else, but I am almost always craving some good pho. Maybe if a coworker really wants to go here for lunch sometime, I would consider going back to give it another try, but I will sadly be looking elsewhere for my go to pho spot in Westchester. read more

This is the worst Pho restaurant i have ever gone to. Granted, I am from philadelphia where i am beginning to realize that we have some of the best food overall. In my experience, the most important part of pho is the broth which determines the quality of the experience. Here the broth was terrible and my gf is slightly nauseous right now as we leave. Secondly, the quantity of the meat and rice noodles and vegetables was less than I am used to, but not a deal breaker. Tasty, light and crispy rolls wrapped up with mint, cucumber and dipped in the sweet and tart lime dipping sauce. Noodles salad with grilled pork was spot on! Oodles of noodles with grilled to perfection pork mixed with fresh herbs and pickled carrots. I didn't want to order the vn iced coffee at my last visit because they don't serve it table side, which is the traditional method. I'm so glad I ordered it this time. Great place, been going there for years since they opened up... pho is delicious, hot, and steamy just like my gf. Spring rolls are bomb and crispy and jam packed with goodies, but pricy and very little like my egg roll ... but after a few years I've been betrayed, stabbed in the back by Judas, betrayed like Benedict Arnold... got the food poisoning!!! This is day five since ground zero and I'm still making the runs. HOWEVER, don't let this turn u from this place!! I normally don't eat veggies and my gf put it in hers and I couldn't get them all out so I ate little bits here and there... the point is the veggies caused the poison not the pho and veggies are not good for u.
