The customer service is excellent. I had a gift card issue that was the US Mail delayed delivery issue. I realized I wouldn't have time to receive and then send to my son who lives in Dartmouth. I spoke to the manager who hand delivered the gift certificate to the mail box on time for Christmas. It surely was above and beyond and so appreciated. Be prepared however because it is bar food for the most part, which = fried (deliciousness). The cocktails I sampled were: the Pomegranate Margarita which was so yummy. The Minty Greyhound sounded great but was a bit too sweet. The Motini was good but crazy strong. That would've been the only cocktail I would've needed had I had it first. I had to share it as I was fearful about driving after having that and one other drink. The Cranberry Mule was superb! The appetizers were plentiful; our group tried just about one of everything. This place was fantastic. My friend just moved to the area and I had never been to Massachusetts before, and we popped in here to try my first ever lobster roll and it did not disappoint. I was so excited to have my first lobster roll of the season and the website said the lobster roll was on a brioche bun which was right up my alley since I hate hot dog buns used for anything other than hot dogs. Well much to my dismay the lobster meat came nestled in a hot dog bun with a side of cold french fries. My lobster meat was dry and scarce, for 28 dollars I was not impressed at all. My boyfriend on the other hand had a delicious piece of pan seared salmon atop a scrumptious bed of asparagus, mushrooms, and red onions. My advice is stay away from the lobster roll I feel like I wasted my money. read more

Stopped in for a quick snack and sat at the bar. Right away I didn't appreciate where they store their ready to use glassware, right in front of the patrons at the bar, unprotected! Don't know how the Board of Health lets them get away with that. Anyway I decided on the Mussels with an accompanying portion of Fries. The presentation was nice. The Mussels were OK, no dominant flavor with the exception of the Mussels, a little over one pound. The Mussels came with two slices of a very good Bread. The results were a potential 'monkey puzzle'. There wasn't enough bread to totally appreciate the Mussel base but the Mussel base wasn't as flavorful as I would expect to warrant more bread! The Fries were good, they served Heinz Malted Vinegar which is always a plus. Service was attentive, maybe because they were being monitored as the place is still newly opened. Drinks were premium priced. It's nice that the SailLoft has reopened, they're newly opened and trying to find the way, but after the Summer crowd has left it should get interesting. We were very impressed with the service and food. The waitress was as charming as could be throughout the lunch. We were taken back that the food was served hot. Even the French Fries arrived hot and perfectly seasoned, something the area restaurants are falling short of perfecting. The down side was the out door patio door was left open so there were fleet flies in the dining room landing on everyones food. The parking was also an issue with very little handicap spots. I'm impressed with the renovation and very happy to have a "Sail Loft" back in the village. (Since I was around to enjoy the original back in the early 80's) But I went today for the first time, 330pm on Sunday afternoon and was very disappointed with the host. We asked for a table outside. We walked in through the back and noticed there were several tables available on the deck but he said there was nothing and would only seat us inside. The deck never filled while we were there. Absolutely no reason why we could not have an outdoor table. Food is overpriced and just ok. The other restaurants owned by same person are much better. Let's hope they can improve the service and food quality soon. read more

What a pleasant surprise! We had purchased a Living Social deal and for some reason weren't expecting a lot when we headed in. We found a nice, bright, airy spot that will have excellent outdoor seating and a water view during the warmer months. We started with the gold fever boneless chicken tenders. They were a good-sized portion and well sauced. I had the ricotta and sausage flat bread and was not disappointed. It was a good size (my husband had some as well) and had plenty of toppings. My husband had the Kamikaze burger. he said it was one of the best burgers he had ever had and after having a bite I have to agree! We'll definitely be back. read more

Almost all of these reviews are for the previous SailLoft open last year. Visiting the new one I set my sights on the Gold Standard for anything to do with the sea, Fish and Chips! Well right off the bat they had my attention, $25 for one order at a location next door to New Bedford is very ambitious. I know the lease must be high but their price is $1 more than the Back Eddy in Westport which is the Platinum Standard price. Anyway, I ordered it and what do you think I got, right, an order of fish and chips. I can name plenty of area restaurants that charge less than $20, one or two that charge as low as $14 for the same order of fish and chips. It appeared to be cod in a nice batter, the fries appeared to be hand cut but werent prmoted as such. The atmosphere was pleasant, the beer cold. So, the three star rating this time was more a function of the pricing. I'll try something different next time. As far as the fish and chips, the Black Bass Grill around the corner has them for $17 with a pleasant atmosphere too so figure it out! read more

This was Our first visit under the new ownership and after the renovation. We had an excellent experience. Our waitress was attentive, competent and overall excellent. We got our drink order almost immediately and drinks were served quickly. Our food also came out quickly and was excellent. The renovation is great, light, airy and welcoming. A spectacular new addition to the dining experience in the picturesque town of Padanaram. We keep our boat in South Wharf marina and love to come here to watch the sunset on the large deck (with heaters for cool nights). Their staff are well trained and deliver excellent service every time. Very lively on Friday and Saturday nights. Great tasting fresh local oysters, lobster rolls, burgers, steak frites, salmon (the best I've ever had), clam cakes (yummy), amazing desert my favorite is their strawberry shortcake (WOW). My only suggestion would be to improve consistency with the baked cod main. read more

We also ordered the scallop & bacon flatbreadI- which is a great combo of sweet & savory flavors. I love the margarita flatbread- it has real fresh mozzarella & fresh basil. Also, on Sunday they have a band from 3-6pm. (They also have a band on Wednesday night) Another great thing about Sail Loft is that they are open late every night. Went for a date night with my husband using the Dinner for two coupon. The atmosphere was nice but I asked for the fish and chips to be lightly battered and it came back beer battered. I should have asked for fish to go with my fries. Very small portion. My husband had the lobster tacos which were 3small tacos. Above all, the waitress had a personality of a rock. She never came back to the table to ask how our food was. We had to stop her to ask for the check. The icing on the cake was a dog coming in with a couple. I do not eating with animals in a restaurant. They need to post that they are pet friendly. We would have passed. read more

*This review if for the bar service only. Padanaram is defined, per google, as a "charming fisherman's village". For my family, it is defined as the closest form of civilization to our summer house. We utilize their few but valued amenities for everything possible (food, gas, hair salon, and most importantly, nightlife). Given the location, the town of Padanaram services mostly people passing through, whether from the nearby summer communities, stopping in for a regatta or sailing trip, or just tourists looking to see a typical New England village. That being said, most of the people are not from the area. This is why my family and I were so surprised when we were bluntly turned away from being served at The Sail Loft because we all had out of state licenses. We had a group of about 20 21-28 year olds, with 4 Massachusetts ID'S, with the rest being a collection from CT, RI, NJ, of which the bar tender refused to serve us. Not only were we shocked, we were confused, frustrated, and rejected. In the town of Padanaram, there are no other options. I can honestly say we had never heard of being discriminated against by our state. Given it was just after 10:00, and we were a large crowd, perhaps the bartenders were getting ready to close up and didn't want to deal with us. That is understandable, however, just tell us that. Excuses mean nothing if there is no reasoning behind it. To discriminate us by our state? Unheard of. Especially for a quaint, charming town such as Padanaram. The rude demeanor and GTFO glares from the barstaff sent us out and we meandered to the upscale bar (the only other bar) down the street, and stayed well into the night. It just didn't make any sense for a new bar, to turn away such a large group, of which they probably would have doubled their nightly earnings in the hour we would be there alone. As a community member, and a yelper, I wanted to reach out to share my thoughts that given this service, as well as bartending "rules", it might deter a lot of potential and local customers that come through in the summer. Let me also note that after perusing the other reviews, I notice that patrons from RI and TX mention ordering drinks from their menu. Peculiar, isn't it? read more

I was out visiting my friend in this area and she recommended we try this restaurant that just opened. The Sail Loft is a nice place right on the water. The interior has a nice light wood finish and it appears to have a nice deck area out back (sadly it was cold so no deck for us...). They have a small yet diverse menu with salads, sandwiches, and seafood dishes (not only fried seafood which is nice), and a good number of specials each day. I went with one of the specials, a chicken and veggie pasta dish in a garlic butter sauce which was really good. The presentation was nice and the serving was appropriate for the price. The service was great. The waitress was very attentive and the manager came checked on us a few times to make sure we were enjoying our visit. I do not go out to this neck of the woods very often but if you are in the area I would give it a shot. Its nice moderately priced restaurant with a good food and a decent drink selection. read more
