Bread pudding with fresh whipped cream, vanilla iced cream and a raspberry on top. Delicious!

Last week was my first time visiting this wonderful place! The daffodil farm was close by so we decided to go to lunch at the Sail Loft in cozy Padanaram harbor. It opened at 11:30 so we arrived close to that time, with no reservation. The decor was beautiful and with a fresh nautical feel. We were greeted warmly when we walked in the door and seated right away by the window with a view of the harbor and boats. Our waitress came over right away and gave us our menus - three of them. One was a regular menu, one was lunch specials, and I think the other one was for Chef's selections. I ordered the Chicken Carbonara on the lunch menu and it was amazing! The portion was just enough and was very flavorful and fresh. My friends had chicken Caesar salad and a mixed bowl (not sure about this one). I didn't take pics of our food because we all just dove right in, but I DID take a picture of our dessert. OMG it was bread pudding with fresh whipped cream and ice cream - soooo good!! The place filled up pretty quickly by the time we left it was full. The prices were reasonable and the wine was just fine! I wish I could remember the waitresses name to give her a shout out because she was a doll! Can't wait to visit again!

Review for The Sail Loft - Padanaram, MA If you find yourself in Padanaram (a.k.a. the South Dartmouth secret locals don't really want you to know about), and you skip The Sail Loft? Rookie mistake. This place is the salty soul of Buzzards Bay. Perched right by the marina, it's where boat shoes meet bar stools. You'll see folks who just stepped off a sailboat rubbing elbows with couples dressed for a night in the village. No dress code. No pretension. Just pure coastal New England charm and a vibe that's always buzzing. The inside is lively, the outdoor patio catches that perfect sea breeze, and the bar? It's the heartbeat of the joint. We didn't have a reservation (whoops), and the place was packed--but the bar area saved the day. We snagged a high top by the window just as the line started snaking out the door. The bartenders? Total pros. Fast, friendly, and somehow everywhere at once, without making you feel like an afterthought. Gold star. We kicked off with a round of Apple Martinis--sweet, strong, and not here to mess around. Then came the chowder: a bowl of creamy, clammy goodness, thick enough to stand a spoon in. Potatoes, herbs, and enough richness to warm you from the inside out--June evenings by the bay aren't always balmy. But the star of the show? That lobster roll. Two options: cold and classic, or warm and buttery. We went warm--because why wouldn't you want your lobster swimming in butter? Nestled in a toasted sourdough roll and served with coleslaw and fries. And not just one or the other--both. Apparently, the kitchen was feeling generous, and we weren't about to say no. The fries were crisp on the outside, fluffy inside. The slaw? Creamy, crunchy, and perfectly chilled. Whether you're a local or just passing through, The Sail Loft is the kind of place that makes you want to linger a little longer, order another drink, and pretend the boat docked outside is yours.

Great service and ambiance. Will be back for sure! The sparkling rosé with the mussels was perfect too.

While we sat on the bench to get a table assigned to us we had a drink. For those who love frozen drinks this is your Mecca. There is a huge variety to choose from. I will caution you they are very pricing at $16 a glass. The better option is a flight of 4 small glasses for $21. The menu is extremely limited with a focus on oysters and lobster rolls. They do have a small bowl of chowder for $8. Again pricey for a cup but it was delicious. Now I am a lobster roll snob so I had to be critical. The serving of meat for a $28 roll that comes with chips was sufficient. My one critique that took away a full star is the mayo was very watery and made the hot dog roll very mushy. That is a huge turn off for me. If I go again I would ask for the lobster plain and get the mayo or butter on the side. The view is lovely and the staff very friendly so it is definitely worth the trip.

It's about a 30-minute drive from Aquidneck Island and well worth the trip. The menu is limited but thoughtfully curated, with an emphasis on exceptionally fresh local seafood. The lobster roll ($27) may be one of the best in the area, and the oysters are outstanding--especially considering they're priced at less than $3 each. Beverage options are extensive, and there's something for just about everyone, including a hot dog for children. The atmosphere is relaxed. There are no reservations, and all seating is outdoors, with roughly ten picnic tables and several high-top tables. The waterfront setting is part of the charm, offering beautiful views and cooling breezes, but even on warm days it's wise to bring a sweater or light jacket. If you go, allow a little extra time for the drive. The roads leading to Westport pass through one of New England's most scenic rural landscapes, with numerous Colonial-era homes, historic farms, and stone walls that provide a glimpse into the region's rich history. The journey is almost as enjoyable as the destination.

As a native New Englander, I don't say this lightly: this was one of the best seafood meals we've…read morehad in a very long time. Phenomenal oysters and shrimp; seared tuna was stellar! We made the rookie mistake of showing up without a reservation on a Tuesday night, and the restaurant was packed. The hostess, who was in training, handled the situation with such poise. She was warm, thoughtful, and transparent about the 45-minute wait, which we genuinely appreciated. What really set the tone, though, was Will. I later learned he was one of the owners, but you never would have guessed it. He wasn't standing back overseeing the dining room; instead, he was in it, working just as hard as everyone else. He welcomed us personally, empathized, and even offered us a cocktail while we waited. As we sat nearby, we watched him gently coach the hostess in training. There was humor, kindness, and encouragement, balanced with clear expectations: simple reminders like making sure every guest is greeted the moment they walk through the door. It was leadership by example. He carried himself with humility, intention, and a work ethic that he clearly models for his entire team. Watching those interactions made me appreciate the restaurant even before we sat down to eat. By the end of the meal, the wait didn't matter one bit. In fact, after experiencing both the hospitality and the food, we completely understood why the restaurant was full on a Tuesday night. The service was exceptional. I'll update this review once I remember our server's name because she absolutely deserves recognition. She was attentive, incredibly hardworking, and gracefully managed not only our table but the many families with children around us. The manager also stopped by to check on us, and it felt entirely sincere. The model started at the top and was clearly part of their ethos. They were so generous which is why we recommend this spot to anyone visiting the area! The food was every bit as impressive as the service. The shrimp cocktail featured some of the largest, freshest shrimp I've had in years--perfectly chilled and absolutely delicious. The oysters were impeccably fresh and beautifully presented. Every dish reinforced why New England seafood has the reputation it does. Great restaurants serve great food. Exceptional restaurants create a culture that guests can actually feel. This place does both. We'll absolutely be back--and next time, we'll be smart enough to make a reservation.

The two other friends I was dining with got their food and ate it and said it was ok. ( shrimp plate and fish tacos). The waitress asked when ordering if we wanted peppers with our clamboil and we said on the side. Three meals came out ( missing my clam boil) and my friends clamboil was filled with peppers and even the clam broth. Our waitress said my boil was on the way out and proceeded to go to kitchen. I asked her to talk and she ignored me. My friend wanted to return hers to the kitchen to get no hot peppers. When the waitress came out- she proceeded to give a clamboil to another table. So here I sit with no food. When asked to get my friend the right dinner she said cook was new and didn't know what we wanted.! She took my friends clamboil back and came out with one still wrong. Still sitting with no food. By then the two friends who had there food was done and my friend and I still had no food. I called the waitress over and said we were leaving and she said ok. No integrity and still continued to blame cook, but she was ignoring us and hiding in the kitchen and waiting on other tables. So sad because I frequently used to eat here before I moved away and was very excited to go there. No manager around. Another thing- we were given take out menus to look at- no real menus??!! Aweful experience!
