Came here as a group of six for lunch on a Saturday. We were promptly seated and attended to work throughout our meal. The lunch special is a great deal at 8.90 with tax. Three of us got lunch specials (green curry, pad kee-mao with chicken, pad siew with tofu) and three people shared apps. Everything was a fresh and delicious. This is a great neighborhood Thai restaurant. The $8 lunch special is terrific, egg roll, soup and an entree, making for a large and tasty lunch. The Mongolian beef tasted like a shoe, was very hard and chewy, and this was not my first time eating Mongolian beef, and this is not the way to make it! Also, the Pad Siew chicken had no taste whatsoever. both were bad and not recommended! I did call the place and asked them for a refund, as this food was not eatable and I ended up getting something else, they answered that the owner can only refund me some of it as I did have the crab Rangoon which was fairly decent, but, $15 for crab Rangoon....really?! I was very disappointed with a delivery order. While the flavors were good, none of the noodle dishes had any vegetables. They were basically a very large pile of noodles, with some meat, and not much else. It seemed very strange. This place disappointed me. I went with four friends on a weekday. First, it took them almost 45 minutes to get our food ready, and when the food finally came, it wasn't what we ordered. So they had to take it back and it took them another half an hour to get ready. We each order a dish, so it's five dishes in total. SaiMai Thai is a small place near Geja's Café which, aside from a nondescript sign, would otherwise be unnoticeable. Came in during lunch on a Tuesday and was promptly seated and served. There was only one other person in the restaurant aside from me, but regardless the service was prompt and attentive. They have a fantastic lunch special here which for only $8 includes an entrée of your choice, along with a soup and appetizer of the day, which rotates according to their weekly schedule. The entrée choices actually include most of the standard thai fare, with 14 options including the always popular pad thai, pad see ew, and panang curry. Since it was a Tuesday I was served some piping hot miso soup and two large crab Rangoon, before getting a full order of pad khee mao. The noodles had a satisfying portion of chicken and vegetables, and it was actually reasonably spicy as well. My major qualm would be that there was a bit too much sauce and oil on it than I would have liked, but that didn't stop me from enjoying my meal. Was in and out within 30 minutes, full and satisfied without my wallet having taken a beating. While they could stand to reduce the oil on some of their dishes, for well-flavored dishes at a great price, you can count on SaiMai Thai for lunch. 4.5 stars read more

It was a very pleasant experience, the waitress was friendly and the food fresh. The restaurant it clean and cute. I had mango shrimp, the dish complemented the shrimp which I could actually taste. My husband, no fan of Thai food, took his leftover Pad Thai home for lunch. The Won Ton soup we shared was also very good. The curry puffs were a little heavy on the potato for me, but I don't like potato. We will go again. read more

SaiMai Thai used to be my go-to place for takeout. Always a perfect, cheap option for dinner when I didn't feel like cooking. However, they recently changed their menu, making the portions smaller and the prices higher. We would normally order the pad see ew and pad panang noodle dishes, but when the menu changed, both of our favorite dishes changed drastically. I live across the street from SaiMai Thai, so I still get it sometimes, but it's just not the same. I would suggest this place if you are looking for some quick takeout in LP, but if you're looking for something above average, this isn't the spot. Ordered twice. First time was great - Pad See Eiw and Pad Thai both were great and service good. The second time was a disaster. Promised delivery 45 - 60 minutes and it came after 90 minutes. I had several calls - including call from restaurant promising delivery in 3 minutes or free. Order cam 15 minutes later. Driver was rude - no hello or thank you - just handed the food and walked away. AND then the order was WRONG. Ok - so it is free so I should not complain, right? But it was wrong - ordered enough for 3 people and got only enough for 2 people - and so late that we cannot really order any place else. Food still tastes good but not reliable service read more

This place isn't getting the credit it deserves. The food is delicious and the serving sizes aren't too heavy, which is good for the health-conscious diner. I'm a big fan of all the curries, as well as the basil chicken, and for dessert, mochi ice cream or creme brulee.
