Absolutely loved it. We've tried so many Thai restaurants in Chicago and they're always just fine; pretty much all the same and somewhat basic. We've been to Thailand and loved it so much, and we just can't seem to find anywhere that captures the same heat and flavors. No matter how much we ask to make it spicy, no one ever does. Enter SaiMai Thai. They're quite far from where we live but the food arrived temperature hot and every single dish we ordered was fantastic. We asked to make the dishes extra, extra spicy and boy, did they. The Tom Kha Kai was delicious. Just enough sour and creaminess and tons of ingredients. Same with the Tom Yum. I was pleasantly surprised to see Lumpia on the menu (not something you see on Thai menus). That was delicious, too. Larb Gai, papaya salad and Pad Kee Mao-all amazing. So glad we took a chance on SaiMai Thai and even happier Caviar would deliver it to us since were a bit far. Kudos to you guys from us. Personally, we think your food is terrific. read more

My go to spot for Thai in the area was closed so I decided to venture out and order from here. Unfortunately, the food just was not good. I got the pad siew, orange chicken, and crab Rangoon. The pad siew was so flavorless and disappointing. The orange chicken had good flavor but was terrible quality meat and a very small portion. I don't have many complaints on the crab Rangoons, those were average. Overall just disappointed. read more

Great food, nice people and all at a good price. Try the duck curry here, it's amazing. The beef & broccoli are also a healthy go-to option. This place is a BYOB, so it's a great place to bring some friends with a six pack. There are usually specials that run for ordering online or ordering with the app to get some free chicken pot stickers. One of the best restaurants in Lincoln Park. First off we were extremely put off when we first walked in due to the fact it smelled like a toilet. I'm surprised we didn't leave and decided to give it a go. I ordered a spicy noodle dish (wasn't spicy at all) with veggies and it was just OK. It got the job done and I was full after. I've been coming here over a year. I order the same thing. Chicken pad Thai lunch special. I love it. I gave this place a 3 star simply because of customer service. I wasn't greeted, never made eye contact with me. My appetizer was cold and the host seemed bothered that I said something. I then watched a couple walk in and noticed the waitress yell from the back of the restaurant to greet them, in which they didn't even say anything back. They looked at the menu and left. Anywhere you pay for service you should in return receive good customer service. Sadly, I won't be returning after this visit. Now I have to find an alternative. read more

A friend and I stopped into Sai Mai Thai for dinner after we'd waited for service for 40 minutes to no avail at a bar and grill down the street. At that point, I'd have been happy anywhere with a server who looked our way! In that vein, I'd recommend Sai Mai Thai to anyone who--well, anyone who just wanted to eat, thankyouverymuch. But if you're looking for a meal worth remembering, I'd pick somewhere else. This place needs to take the Mongolian Beef off of the menu. I understand this is a Thai restaurant and Mongolian Beef is a typical item on a Chinese menu. Instead of every Mongolian Beef entree I've had in the past 20+ years where it is tenderized beef in a rich brown sauce, their Mongolian beef is pale flesh colored shoe leather beef in a pale broth consistency that is inedible. And when I went to pick up my order the place smelled like a sewage dump, so they definitely need to hire a plumber or more than that. I've worked in restaurants and realize there can be a water leak with the dish system or otherwise and it can get stinky--- this was a FOUL disgusting sewage-like smell that represented an issue that had not been addressed. Still, I was so starving at that point, I at least tried a bite, thinking I was maybe judging a book by it's cover too much. Horrible! I'm sure they do great Thai-- as they have good reviews on that-- please take the Mongolian Beef off of the menu if you will be serving it like that and take car of your plumbing issue. read more

We were visiting the zoo around lunch and decided to try this restaurant. It was a Monday. We went in at noon and stood a bit waiting for the ONE PERSON working as a waitress for everyone. She was making smoothies, seating people, serving food, etc. we sat down and we finally get her to the table. We order the lunch specials which she claims they don't offer on a holiday (Columbus Day). Ok whatever, the place is not crowded so not sure about that rule on this "holiday". We order one pad Thai and a Panang Curry. An order of potstickers. Potstickers arrive quickly though we were not provided plates or silverware or napkins so I was dripping the sauce all over the table. Had to ask for some. The pad Thai arrived quickly though the other dish arrived at least 5 min later. Strange. The service was not good, but the good news is that the food was delicious. Well done on that front. We went here on a Saturday night and got seated right away, It's a small BYOB place. The food was okay - nothing notable. We got a thai noodle dish and sesame chicken. The chicken really just tasted like fried chicken with little chicken inside. What has me leaving the 3-star review was the service. Yes, they were busy, but we had no water or anyone come up to us for 20 minutes. Then they took our order right away still with no water. When they gave us their meal they gave us no utensils, small plates, napkins, or water. We had to walk up to the bar to ask for it and to get napkins ourselves. Then we did not hear from any staff until we got the check. Not a great dine-in experience. read more

I was working down the road, and SaiMai was the closest thing around. I was happy to see some good lunch specials, but I opted for the Green Curry with Avocado. I didn't want meat, so asked for veg only. It was nice they added a variety of vegetables as well as the generous portion of avocado. My wife and I go to SaiMai Thai on a seni-regular basis. It is a few blocks from our house, and we usually dine in (although, we are always the only ones). Very nice small Thai restaurant next to Park West. We had dinner last night before a show: starting with the baby egg rolls with delicious sweet and spicy sauce and fried potstickers. What a hidden gem in Lincoln Park! My sister and law and I were strolling on a Friday afternoon when we found SaiMai. With a pretty patio seating outside, sorrounded by beautiful flowers, my sister in law enjoyed the 7 dollar lunch special consisting of soup, appetizer, and her choice of entree. The presentation was neat, the food came quick, and it was the perfect amount. I got the banana bubble tea from all the tons of flavors to choose from, and it was very sweet. Porbably went over my sugar intake by a ton, but it was a nice treat on a warm afternoon. I get delivery from Sai Mai ALL the time. It is the quickest delivery around, and it's so so so yummy. They have the best beef basil fried rice. I haven't dined in yet, but I definitely plan to. Sai Mai Thai recently changed owners, which made us a bit nervous since we liked it the way it was. But we were pleasantly that the new menu is a big step up.
