On a Sunday brunch search we went to two other places that had long waits , here though we were seated quickly, and our server was very professional and did a great job tending to us. Bloody Mary was delicious! The menu had very few choices for the brunch options. The presentation was great! Quality good. We tried St Leo today for happy hour and were very satisfied. The bartender made perfect Negroni and Brown Derby cocktails and the pepperoni pizza hit the spot. Exceptional! My friend and I enjoyed a nice lunch date at Saint Leo. We had the Bianca pizza and chopped salad. We both had a glass of rosè also. I cannot remember the winery but it was perfect. We put our name in on a waitlist. The hostess told us it would be about an hour. We waited over 2 hours. After 2 hours the hostess told us that there won't be a table. I have never witnessed a more poorly managed restaurant. Had the staff been more honest with us upfront we would have easily put our name in another establishment, but their mismanagement cost us that opportunity. A barrier at the door is desperately needed. There is no foyer & every time the doors opened, a cold draft froze us & our food got colder. Were it not for hot tea, we would have had frostbite ‍. The Snapper was fabulous but it was not plated on heated china & the risotto underneath, while delightfully seasoned with lemon & rosemary was cold - not room temperature, but refrigerated except where the fish touched it. The waiter was apprised of disappointment but offered nothing more than to 'let the chef know'. Is there no plate warmer here?? Strangely the chicken piccata, which was divine, with an abundance of capers, was topped with micro greens - nothing more. A bit of pasta would have been wonderful. While not described on the limited menu, It was a surprise that it was bare/bereft of 'company'! Pasta is cheap!! Won't skew your overhead . No dessert options that weren't cold/frozen, and we already had frostbite. You'll need a phone or flashlight to read your menu. Lovely ambience overall. read more

Went to Saint Leo for brunch yesterday. What a great experience! My friends got the Prosecco pop cocktails and loved them- I got a glass of chardonnay. To eat, I got the sandwich special and it was absolutely to die for (Egg, pork belly, mozzarella, and tomato pesto on ciabatta bread). My friends got the kale salad and Margherita pizza. I tried both and they were great! So much food for an understandable price. Saint Leo is a little pricey but it is so worth it. Our drinks were great and our waitress was so nice. It didn't hurt that someone got engaged at the restaurant while we were eating brunch!! read more

I have heard people rave about the chopped salad so I was excited to try it. It was such a mushy, bland disappointment. There were whole, slimy, fatty globs of what appeared to be prosciutto instead of soppressata. There was no crunch or contrast to off set the texture. It was hard to even pull out bites of lettuce, unfortunate since it was a salad after all. Certainly among the least appetizing salads I have ever had. read more

Another great restaurant just off Courthouse Square. Pleasant contemporary decor and open floor plan with a slight industrial vibe to it. Staff was well informed, friendly and efficient. Came here because we love wood fired pizza and had a hankering. We didn't really do research on the restaurant beforehand, later reading that the restaurant was a 2017 James Beard Foundation semi-finalist for Best New Restaurant and we now see why. The warm white beans and radicchio were perfectly cooked and creamy delicious. Then, the pizza...Really delicious unique toppings that worked so well together. A sweet, Smokey bacon jam paired with a bit hotter Calabrian chili honey- fontina, mozzarella and a light smearing of tomato sauce on a crispy-chewy- charred crust. An explosion of flavor and texture from a humble pizza! We then went a step farther and ordered the pappardelle with pork cheek ragù. Freshly made egg pasta with silky ragù with lovely chunks of tender pork cheek. And of course we couldn't leave the place without tasting a little dessert. We decided on the apple and dried cherry crostata. Damn! So good. read more

Pros: ambience, friendly staff, exposed brick interior, lovely bar setup, bianca pizza and butternut squash bruchetta were good (though the bruchetta was a bit overpriced in my opinion) Con: the pappardelle al ragu was overpriced. $19.50 for a very small and unfortunately rather bland dish. I was looking forward to tasting the beef short rib but only found very very small bits of it (so small I couldn't even tell it was meat). I am happy to report that after several return trips, I can finally say I like St. Leo. Once I was able to request that they not burn the pizza crust in the wood oven, I became a true believer. I highly recommend the garlic-rubbed grilled bread. Also, try adding sausage to the Bianca pizza. The white beans appetizer is super popular, but I found it to be a mite bland. I am in the minority, however - no pun intended, so consider giving them a try! Joe is an expert bartender and the other bartenders are great as well. The manager seems to really like connecting with people which really makes you feel at home. This trip another couple from K.C. Joined us. We were luckily to get a reservation at Saint Leo Saturday night. We hadn't been to Saint Leo before, but we enjoyed it immensely. The restaurant has a great ambience, service was impeccable, food was perhaps best we ever had in Oxford, and that is saying a lot. We ordered a few appetizers and 4 different entrees, 3 desserts. All are great but the entrees really shinned: pizza, pork chop, gnocchi and ____. All the plates were embarrassingly licked clean. We will definitely be back. Ok Oxford has plenty of restaurants, but this is a long waited for one-of-a-kind. The beauty is in the details. Enter from E. Jackson and immediately you are impressed with the white marble bar, accented with brass and hardwood trimmings. The bar layout immediately reminds one of the best of Europe. Looking down the dining area your eyes are drawn to the wood-fired oven with its glowing hearth designed to be at eye level. As if visually this isn't appealing enough, your senses are caressed with aromas of mint, basil, breads and herbaceous temptations of oregano and rosemary that only a wood fired oven can produce. So it's a looker... So the aromas are correct... Well I'm just getting started. In-house fennel sausage is a "must try", as is the house made chicken liver pate. The bruschetta is crunchy in the right places followed by a great "chew". All the bread doughs are slow proofed and the rich nutty flavor proves this point. If you're a "foodie" you can truly appreciate these and other bold and subtle details. Emily Blount, owner, has put her time in stressing the details. Taariq David (GM) has trained the staff, and grilled the staff so well that you can ask just about anyone, just about anything. Jeff (the head chef) runs a tight ship. Marco (the pizzaiolo) is a foodies foodie. Joe (bar manager) has the bar hard-wired for good times. The only thing wrong is it's impossible to rate it 6 stars, though 5 stars will be enough to keep it hard to get a seat with ease. Call ahead and try to get your party booked early. I was torn on what rating to give this place but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and go with a 4. The appetizer was good, we just ordered garlic bread and it was simple yet delicious. The pizza wasn't as desirable but it had potential. We got 3 different pizzas and all 3 were so soggy in the middle we couldn't pick them up without everything just sliding off (when I say soggy think cooked lasagna noodle). The sauce was really watery which may have been the culprit. The flavor combinations were good, and I'm really hoping it was just an off-night for them.
