SAJJ is one of my go-tos when ordering from Door Dash. I like the chicken shawarma rice bowl with the ability to add on many toppings and customize it to your liking. You can really fill it up between the hummus, pickles, beets, greens, etc. During my pregnancy it has been one of my staples given I'm not cooking as much (tired all the time lol) and want something quick and somewhat healthier. The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because my husband always seems to order the "wrong" things. He got a wrap and for $14 it was TINY and barely had anything in it besides the falafel. The other time he got a shawafel bowl (chicken + falafel). The falafel were so dry and they forgot the chicken! I told him he should just order the chicken shawarma bowl like me. read more

This fast casual restaurant chain has been on my list for a while. We finally made a stop here today. The menu prices on yelp and their online ordering website are not consistent with the price we were charged at the store. Store pricing was higher, even though it's not a downtown restaurant. The server at the counter was patient as we placed our order. That's the only positive thing in our experience. We saw this chain as a healthier fast food alternative, kind of like Chipotle. However the food price, the quality and flavor of food doesn't match up to Chipotle. Both the falafel bowl and chicken shawarma were quite disappointing. We ordered for the first time at Sajj. I was craving Mediterranean food and the reviews looked good and so did the food. I would have given a 1 star if not for the good flavor of the food but for $70 the portion size of the wraps vs. the price were extremely disappointing. We have a had our fair share of wraps and this is the smallest sharwma wrap we have ever purchased. My bowl had no rice as requested and was just slapped together. Super tasty food served in a build-your-own style setup. Expect to get in and get on with your life when stopping by here. I appreciate that they offer a kids option since I'm literally the size of a 4th grader and can't put down much food. A mediterranean bowl for $7 can't be beat! It comes with a Capri-sun (which I don't bother taking) which I guess is like the elixir of life for kids. This probably isn't a huge issue for most, but I would like to mention that the hot ingredients here are super oily. So if you're usually a super clean eater, you might feel a bit bogged down eating here even though mediterranean is generally considered "healthier" than other options. The fixins are a plenty here. Omnivorous or veg, there are tons of tasty options. I personally go for the eggplant, cauliflower and rice. Top with some tahini and hot sauce and call it a day. If you get a regular bowl, you will be able to add much more. The prices here are very reasonable, the staff friendly and covid compliant. read more

Kept forgetting to try this place and so tonight I finally remembered that this restaurant is in our neighborhood. I usually go to another spot near by. Big Mistake. The worst mediterranean food I have ever eaten. I ordered the chicken shwarma with sides of sauces and a large hummus. Tried the hummus and instantly regretted buying the 32oz. i didn't think they could wrong with hummus but they did. It's almost sweet like they used too much tahini and not enough lemon. The Shwarma was bland/Plain and not sure but it seems like all it came with was some pickles a little bit of yogurt and alot of lettuce. AND they charge you if you want a little sauce to give it some flavor. And believe you need it. All the med restaurants that I have been to give you free hot sauce at least but not this place. My workplace is pretty close to Sajj, so my coworkers often come here during their lunch break. Mediterranean food isn't my favorite cuisine, but I decided to tag along one day and I was pleasantly surprised. My coworkers describe this place as a "Mediterranean Chipotle" because it's very customizable and you go down the line, adding in whatever toppings and sauces you desire. For my base I chose half rice and half salad, which was a perfect combination. The only vegetarian protein was falafel, so I went with that. They gave me 4 decently sized balls of falafel that were crunchy on the outside, soft inside, and very flavorful. I got pretty much all of the vegetarian toppings: eggplant, cauliflower, cucumber tomato, beets, pickles, etc. I wasn't sure which sauces to get so I just asked for a little bit of everything: Tzatziki sauce, garlic sauce, tahini, hummus. My favorite toppings were the eggplant ragout and cauliflower. They were so well seasoned and flavorful. Every order comes with a free cup of lentil soup. I personally was not a fan of the lentil soup; it was way too salty for my taste buds. I used the Yelp check-in offer to get some free pita chips, and I really enjoyed those. They were super crunchy and flavorful on their own, but the cashier also gave me a container of hummus to dip them in, which was a nice touch. Service was friendly. The staff knew it was my first time here so they explained what each item was, which I really appreciated. My bowl was $9 + tax. Portion size could have been a bit bigger for the price. The food tastes authentic, but similar to Chipotle, the proteins (chicken, beef, pork) are in a tray. This means the meat can be a little dry. The few times I've been here, the meat was fine (I have only been there for lunch). Overall, the food is great! The toppings are hearty and savory. Baba ganoush, hummus, feta cheese, tzatziki, etc. If you get all toppings, you'll have a heavy bowl on your hands. This place is a copy cat Chipotle, but its good at that it does. You pick whether you want a wrap, salad or rice bowl, the type of meat you want (or falafel) and then pile on the toppings. Feta and pita bread are extra, which is kind of disappointing. However, they do include a cup of lentil soup which is pretty tasty. Overall, great concept and tasty food. The portions are filling and the price is on point for lunch. A steak shawarma bowl loaded with veggies, hummus, garlic sauce, taziki and garbanzo beans + drink ran me about $10.50. My only regret at this place was that I got a salad bowl instead of a pita bread style dish. The salad had a plethora of ingredients and not enough green leaves to match with it- a great problem to have but would've been easier to combat if it was in a pita pit. I like this place very much. My favorite is a traditional salad bowl with eggplant, hummus, arugula, pickles, and pickled cabbage with Vinaigrette sauce. I tried to liken Sajj's shawarma to Chipotle's burritos in public, and I was berated by my friend, and I quote: "Since when did rice, corn and beans taste anything like tabbouleh? Or salsa like tahini? I get the pita-tortilla and lamb-beef equivalency, but I can't wrap my head around those essential background layers." Word of advice, while Sajj's gives off a Chipotle vibe, shawarma and burritos are two different types of food from two different parts of the world, so never try to put the two in the same category! Now when I was in Sajj, I didn't even know what a shawarma was. I only knew that they Robert Downey Jr. mentioned it in The Avengers, but that was enough of an impetus for me to try it. How shall I describe a shawarma? It's more like a gyro than a burrito, except it has more relish and pickled things inside. It tastes good, but it had a lot of sauce in it, and it dripped onto my clothes leaving white blotches. Whatever, it was inevitable. I enjoyed the shawarma, and the fluffy pita bread for only 50 cents was a steal. I definitely recommend going to Sajj for a cheap and efficient lesson on Mediterranean food. Pity there aren't any Sajj's close to my house I can introduce my friends too. read more

Sajj is basically Chipotle meets Mediterranean food. Sajj definitely had the exact same set up and the font on the display menu is identical. However, they do a good job at mixing up some good falafel wraps and rice bowls. Sajj had become one of my favorite go-to spots for my lunch break. One of my favorite items is their lentil soup (that's the Indian in me coming out!). Their rice bowls are enormous! The regular size is more than enough to keep you full. I always enjoy coming here because the employees are so friendly and eager to make suggestions. If you're around the area, you must make it a point to stop by here. I always thought my mama bear made the best falafel's but this place is giving her competition. I've tried alot of falafel's in my day ( and I only loved my mom's) but Sajj's is legit! Had to grab a quick lunch for my first day at my new job and found this spot on Yelp--Thanks fellow Yelpers! + Ordered a Falafel with Salad, and Hummus and Spicy Tahini $8.95 YUM!! I highly recommend it. She forgot my avocado for an additional $1 but that's prob my fault, I speak on the soft side so guessing she didnt hear me. Can't blame her for that. You can also get Feta for an additional $1 too. I enjoyed it a lot! Fresh ingredients, and the falafels were crispy on the outside and tasty. Simple and large font/clear step-by-step menu, super efficient (barely had to wait even when I was maybe 8th in line). If I could make a couple of recommendations, it would be to perhaps: 1) lower the plexiglass by a couple of inches...it's hard to hear the staff ask about the ingredients and for them to hear the customers (I heard the girl behind me tell the staff she couldnt hear the options she was just told..she's short like me, 5'4" with heels, lol), although I understand the high barrier means less contamination of food!!! So maybe scratch this one...lol. 2) ask if we need utensils with our meals (I ordered take out), or to let us know it's on the side to help ourselves. I walked out with no utensils and was bummed I couldnt eat it and had to hunt for utensils when I got back to the office). I assumed utensils were already in the take out bag, shucks. I had to use the bathroom there and was in a rush, so the staff let me leave my paid meal on the side at the register until I returned.
