    Beef and lamb gyros
    Stephanie W.

So long as you know what you're getting into, I have no complaints against Olives. Olives is an on-campus eatery in the basement of an academic building, so they're really only open during breakfast lunch time (I think 8am-4pm). If you're looking for breakfast, you can get mediocre espresso drinks, bagels, muffins, yogurt, or granola bars. At lunch, the selection consists of pre-made sandwiches and Greek food, with a fairly limited selection. The "pizza" always looks underdone, but the Greek entrees are consistently pretty good, even if they're a little overpriced. I get the beef and lamb gyros about once a week, which come with a pita, side salad, rice or couscous, and hummus and yogurt sauce. Nothing extraordinary, but definitely good and the portions are large enough to keep me going all afternoon. My only complaints are that sometimes it takes an exceptionally long time to get food, even though there don't seem to be that many people in line, and the staff isn't wholly consistent in their assembly of dishes. Extra bonus points for using all compostable plates, to go containers and silverware (and having compost bins readily available at their outdoor seating).

Love this three salad combo & outdoor seating!

The sandwiches always hit the spot! The staff is always so friendly and I love sitting with my friends in outside area.

The spanakopita was delicate and the layers were perfection. The crisp was unbelievable. The flatbread pretty much deserves its own review, that's how delicious it was. It was hands down my favorite! The lamb chops were that melt-in-your-mouth delicacy that makes you happy to have taste buds! Unfortunately, I do not recommend the meatballs. They were really bland, lacking any seasoning (including salt). The disappointment was real, but it's hard to remain disappointed when everything else was beyond tasty. Oh - this is a me thing - I don't think I'll ever order a Greek coffee again. I found out that I like my coffee 100% liquid, no shadow of coffee grounds to be found... So, in essence, not Greek coffee. Now as to the dessert, I almost did a happy dance! I had the yogurt sorbet, which was delicate, flavorful, and a memorable delight. Service was phenomenal. I left too full, happy as a clam, and excited to write them a well-deserved 5-star review

Staff was excellent! $13 Taramosalata, Tirokafteri, Melitzanosalata, Tzatziki - with housemade grilled pitas...a trifecta of different Mediterranean dips, perfect paired with the warm fresh pitas. $21 Anginares Souvlaki - grilled artichokes & eggplant skewer with Greek yogurt...great grilled veggies! $21 Octapodaki tou Yiorgou - traditional grilled octopus with lemon, oregano & olive oil. I honestly feel a little guilty eating these intelligent beautiful creatures, and I normally don't like octopus, but no one else was really eating it, so I didn't want to waste it...and may the Greek God Poseidon, King Triton, and Princess Ariel forgive me...but this was pretty darn good? The meat was tender, almost chicken like, easily chewed. Nice char and seasoning... $17 Horiatiki - classic Greek salad of tomatoes, cucumbers, green pepper, red onion, oregano, olives & feta...simple but fresh and good for vitamins, fiber, and your bowel movements. $33 Moussaka - baked casserole with eggplant, lamb & beef ragoût, potatoes & yogurt béchamel...I have not liked Mossaka, until now! This was darn good that I am now lover. So meaty and cheesy! $35 Kotopoulo Souvlas - lemon-oregano rotisserie chicken with garlic broccolini & Evvia potatoes...nice roasted crispy chicken skin well seasoned, with juicy, succulent white meat...so good! $58 Arnisia Paidakia* - rib-cut, mesquite-grilled lamb chops with olive oil lemon roasted potatoes. BEST LAMB CHOPS OF MY LIFE! I think I ate about $150 in food, and $100 worth of wine and Ouzo...thank gawd I wasn't paying!

As much as Mazra is great at/known for their meats, they also put so much thought and care into their vegetables. For example, our favorite mezza is their Whole Cauliflower, which is a massive cauliflower head that's roasted and then coated with a lemon tahini dressing. (They also give you more lemon to squeeze on it.) The cauliflower always comes out perfectly roasted; the inner parts are tender and toothsome, while the outer parts are crispy and a deep, golden brown. Another great vegetable option is their Veggie Plate, which is a plate overflowing with delights on a bed of their rice: falafel; a segment of their cauliflower; roasted broccoli and potatoes; their saffron mushrooms; and a halloumi roll. Each item is about as perfect as can be, and the sheer quantity makes it a fantastic deal. Of course, we still love their shawarma plates, which you can get with either chicken or steak shawarma. The meat comes thinly cut and tender, and somehow still a bit juicy! The plates are also a great value, since they come with a ton of great items that pair well with the meat. These include a rich, savory sauce (toum [garlic sauce] with the chicken, tahini with the steak) and two of their amazing sides. My favorite sides are the baba ghannoush (creamy and earthy) and their fries (golden, crispy, and pillowy). They continue improving the space, too. The pickup window makes it so much easier to get takeout, and they've really dialed in the flow of the inside and back courtyard seating areas.

None of us had ever eaten here before. We made reservations and got there at 5 pm, such beautiful decor. It almost felt like we were being transported and not in Los Altos anymore. Our table was the first one from the entrance, which was great because we had the chance to partake in some "people watching" and seeing some adorable doggies on their walk from the window. As we were eating, more and more people started showing up. Our service did not decline and we were treated wonderfully. We all shared a couple of appetizers: Saganaki, Barbayani Thalasa Tiganites, Octopodi, Horiatiki Salad and Greek Fries. Drinks ordered were a mocktail and Bee's Knee. For dessert, we got the Lemoni Crème Brûlée. Everything was delicious, but the Lemoni Crème Brûlée, OMG!!! The best! It was tangy and sweet, the perfect combo. [[ Parking ]] I personally think parking is pretty difficult in general in the downtown Palo Alto Area. It's near an indoor parking area (first 2 floors are non-permit parking), outside parking lot, and lots of street parking. However, when we went almost everything was full. I luckily one open street parking spot and luckily my car is super compact and I was able to squeeze in. I probably would be more stressed if I were driving a large SUV or large sedan. [[ Restaurant / Service ]] I thought the restaurant was pretty beautiful inside and in a good location (corner side). They have plenty of seats that look outside and also a ton of indoor seating in case you want more privacy. - One con was that we were seating in a I guess a "bad booth"? It was in the corner and the padding seemed to have sunken in so I had pretty bad support the whole meal. I got use to at the end but next time I'll just choose a chair. Service was really good. Our server checked in frequently, filled our waters, and was relatively attentive. No complaints here. [[ Food ]] I thought the presentation was beautiful for each dish and there was some standout things: 1.) The complimentary bread had delicious butter and mint/cilantro sauce(?) Not 100% sure but it tasted really good. Unlimited bread too as we gobbled up the first round pretty quickly. 2.) If you get a steak (which I hope you do), I love the little flamethrower presentation when they melt the butter on top of your steak. I thought that was a nice "wow" touch for the dining experience. 3.) I really enjoyed the crab cakes and thought the balance of taste and cook was on the spot and gave a really strong start to the rest of the meal. The okay things: 1.) Surprisingly the steaks were just okay in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, they taste good but I wasn't blown away by either the filet mignon or the dry-aged rib eye. It's solid steaks but nothing too memorable. 2.) The sides in my opinion were a let down. The Mac & Cheese was SOO watery. I took a picture of how much liquid was after getting through the top layer. I wish it was more melted/gooey-ness cheese rather than the watery consistency. The truffle fries were alright but my wife wish it had more truffle taste. [[ Conclusion ]] Great business place to get food as well as a nice dine-out experience. It's a solid place.

Esp when I was able to make last minute rezzies (an hour prior) and they had wide availability. The indoor dining room was packed and about 90% of the ample outdoor seating was filled. The house music was bumpin' and with the purple lighting inside, the whole vibe reminded me of Fluid Lounge in the city (iykyk). Sister resto to Roma Antica, Bottega, 'Napizza, and The Rustic in the city and Capri Lasagneria in Burlingame, Mykonos has been on my list to go to since they opened in 2020. For Burlingame standards, I found the Greek + Med fare with a full bar, to be fairly priced. They do charge a 4% hospitality fee. F O O D * Complimentary Pita Yea, it's commercial but hey, it's free and it's served warm and toasty. * Saghanaki: Pan-fried Kefalotyri Cheese w/ lemon + oregano ($14) Flamed tableside, the saghanaki makes for a great TT/reel with cheese pulls but it was just meh. It was very salty and the cast iron pan wasn't hot so the cheese quickly cooled and hardened. * Octopus w/ Greek-inspired chickpea puree ($19) Sous-vide then finished on the grill, the octopus was tender but could have used more time on the grill for a hotter temp and deeper char. The bed of chickpea puree was dry and gritty. * Lamb Riblets w/ lemon + oregano ($17) A generous portion of meltingly tender lamb riblets (5-6 bones) but I wasn't a fan of the indistinguishable brown sauce it was finished with. * Braised Lamb Shank w/ orzo & myzithra cheese ($34) A hearty comfort dish perfect for sharing, the braised lamb shank was perfectly cooked...so rich, tender, and savory with a pleasant gamey flavor. The accompanying orzo with olives was overly salty. S E R V I C E Awesome hospitality and customer service - our server was so kind, gracious and attentive with the warm manager checking in with every table. Considering how packed they were, our entire order quickly arrived and we were done in 35 minutes. A M B I A N C E Looking for club vibes? Sit indoors. Want a quieter meal with people watching? Sit outside at either the parklet, sidewalk tables, or side patio. Overall, Mykonos knows how to do lamb right! I found the food to be more reliant on salt for my preference, as I enjoy more traditional seasoning with herbs, spices, garlic, lemon, etc. 3.5 stars rounded up for the great service.
