Service is excellent and the decor is bright and airy. Easy place to appreciate with excellent hummus and eggplant, and big fluffy pita. We were a bit underwhelmed by the entrees themselves. Lamb skewers in particular were rather ordinary, the beef and lamb skewers seemed to be a bit better. Oren's shakshuka is one of my basic food groups at this point (make sure to grab the mozz and pesto add on). Sweet potato fries are crisp and fresh. The sauce it comes with is super tasty. I was craving tasty Mediterranean food, and Yelp to the rescue! This is supposed to be one of the better Mediterranean restaurants in Palo Alto. Oren's was fairly close to my location so that made it even more appealing. I was greeted and seated quickly. Since I was looking for a lighter meal, and there's definitely so much to choose from, I obviously had to try the hummus, and ordered it with the grilled chicken, grilled chicken. Service was pretty quick, but not anything to really write home about. Just basic. The chicken was absolutely delicious. If nothing else, go for the chicken! It was juicy, very flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. This is exactly what you want chicken to taste like. The hummus was tasty, but not as extraordinary as I was expecting. It was good nonetheless. The pita bread was OK. It did not taste as fresh as I expected it to be, and I don't know if it's made in-house or brought in. The pita wasn't anything better than what I found at a grocery store. Got some food to go recently. Was bummed to realize that the baklava I had paid for was not in the bag. I only realized after reaching home. I had ordered 3 items and saw 3 brown baggies so figured I'm good so didn't do detailed check(lesson learned) . The third bag was condiments eek. Also why do the falafels look like turds, so dark in color. My mom found the after taste a bit bitter and didn't enjoy it unfortunately. Hopefully it was an off day, i usually find the food very tasty from Oren's albeit tad pricy. Plus side is I really didn't need the calories from dessert. read more

I have had many meals at Oren's Hummus across various locations and missed writing a review so here it goes! During my weekly RTO to office I love exploring restaurants nearby to try different foods. Tho I had Oren's hummus multiple times I craved the creamy delicious lip smaking hummus they served and walked right away. I got the chicken pita sandwich this time. with complimentary pickeled cabbage (yummy gut health goodness). The pita was warm and so soft it melts right away. Hummus is creamy and finger licking good, the chicken had a nice juicy taste and crispy char to it making it even more delicious. Fully packed for a friday afternoon, their food speaks for themself. Ordered online on a Monday night to satisfy my snack craving. The hummus beef was perfect! It came with plenty of fresh crunchy veggies (cucumber, carrots, and red bell pepper) and I was able to split this into two meals. A Palo Alto favourite. I have visited this restaurant in several incarnations prior to Oren's, but this iteration is the longest-lasting. I think it's because it hits a spot and is consistently good. The restaurant is long and narrow. Cavernous might be befitting term. There is a small outside dining area with a couple of table and a cozy window nook overlooking the street. It can get busy at dinner time. The food feels authentic Israeli Mediterranean. They have since opened several other locations so that you don't have to trek all the way to Palo Alto to get your fix. read more

We love Oren's Hummus! Food is delicious - fresh, authentic, and flavorful. The vibe and staff are friendly and cheerful, with a cute outdoor/sidewalk seating area too. The small cabbage salad they bring to your table when you sit down is delicious - I always mean to get a container of it to go. I wish their chicken was higher quality - I'd love to see it be free range/organic! But it is all still really delicious. I love the chicken and the vegetarian pitas, and the salads are all A+. Ate the beef kabob plates two nights in a row because it was so tasty. It's right near Stanford, so was convenient for out-of-towners. Great falafel, hummus, baba ganoush, Israeli salad, pickled cabbage, pita, and the hot sauces were a nice surprise--green and red. A few of us visited this place and ordered chicken skewers, falafel, hummus, and rice dishes. Overall, the food was average--nothing particularly flavorful, but not terrible either. The falafel was decent, and the hummus was actually quite good. The rice was fairly ordinary. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the chicken skewers. The meat appeared to be made from chicken thigh and lacked seasoning or flavor. While the taste was merely average, the real issue was that some of the larger pieces of chicken were not fully cooked. The smaller pieces seemed fine, but after biting into a couple of the larger pieces and finding them undercooked in the center, I decided not to continue eating. At that point, I knew I wouldn't be returning, and I'm just hoping I don't end up with food poisoning. read more

Came by for dinner the other night and the experience left much to be desired. This appears to be the original Oren's Hummus shop and they feature both indoor and outdoor dining. Indoor dining was very tight, like Paris tight, so tight that I smelled the BO from my neighbor...yikes... Waitstaff was efficient and provided recommendations upon sitting down. Started off wih the mushroom boureka and the filling came out cold...at least the pastry was warm and flakey on the outside?!? Our waiter suggested the Australian lamb kabob and I ordered this. Requested medium rare and the a few pieces of lamb came out raw...yikes. The plate itself was lukewarm at best. The squash also came out undercooked..yikes. This is on the university ave on Palo Alto. This is on one of the busiest streets of peninsula. Basically you'd find plenty of restaurants on this street but this restaurant caters Greek food. It is so authentic and delicious. I never tried the pita bread this fresh. It soft from inside and crunchy from outside. We also ordered some kababs and beer but the place is so busy and the service is so good that whatever we order they were coming right out. Came here for an early dinner with family. It was a very beautiful day so we decided to sit outside and and enjoy the warmth. They have many tables outside and have lots of shade to sit in. Our host gave us cold water that was very refreshing and provided us with their free coleslaw. The coleslaw is made with a vinegar base and taste delicious during a hot summer day. I've been to this location about a year ago and remembered loving their hummus. I decided to get their chicken hummus and it did not disappoint. The hummus is made fresh and is thick and tasty. The chicken compliments it very well. The pita bread is thick and fluffy. Comes out warm and fresh. They give you two large outta breads per hummus plate. They give large portions so I went went home with left overs. My dad got the rice bowl with beef and my partner ordered the hummus and eggplant.
