Meat plate
Alice C.

This spot is definitely on the casual side. There's seating inside plus a few tables outside. When I went on a Monday night it was empty, which made it nice and quiet. They do have a bathroom, and parking is easy in the structure off California Street. The surrounding downtown area is pretty cute to walk around too. I ordered the meat plate and the chicken shawarma wrap. The wrap was a good size portion wise, and everything was well cooked with plenty of veggies. Overall, it's a solid choice if you want something quick--good for grab-and-go or a fast sit down bite. That said, I wasn't wowed by the flavors or quality; it's simple and straightforward rather than standout.

The meat here is always juicy and crispy. Been going there for a long time now, they have the same consistency. I live the part when they give you a free falafel ball with every order, though I didn't get that this time. The chai there is also great

Mediterranean Wraps is a personal favorite of mine in the area because it offers large portion sizes with delicious well balanced dishes. Our go-to items are the chicken shawarma plate and the chicken shawarma wrap. The plate comes with chicken shawarma on top of chicken stock rice, a side salad with a pickle, hummus, and pita. The chicken is always soooooo flavorful and is not overly salty. The rice is probably my favorite part because it's so luscious and packed with flavor. Every bite warms my tummy. The chicken shawarma wrap has the same yummy on it but with lettuce. Pro tip is to ask them to wrap it in a pita instead of wrapping it in the tortilla. The tortilla is very mid and the first time we had it was disappointed but we had the idea to ask them to wrap it in a pita and it HITS!!! Another pro tip is to ask for extra tzatziki and tahini and they will give it to you on the side. The falafel is also delish if you're in the mood for that. Also they do have inside and outside seating. Sitting inside is not the most enjoyable experience since it's a little stuffy and small but we always take it Togo to eat outside or at Stanford. It travels well! Parking can be difficult but cal ave does have free public lots that you can usually find parking in even during busy times. But regardless you will need to do a short walk to get the the restaurant since the main st is blocked off from cars. Mediterranean wraps is one of my ultimate favorites in the bay. Great tasty dishes for pretty reasonable prices given the location. I crave it all the time!

I had the falafel wrap, and I was very impressed. The falafel was not really crispy but it was extremely soft and not dry at all, and combined with the crunch from the veggies the wrap altogether had a great texture. I was very happy with the amount of veggies in the wrap, especially compared to other places that put barely any in. The tahini sauce is also amazing. Service is great as well, I asked for my wrap to be cut in half and they even wrapped the two halves separately. Not labelled on the menu but the falafel wrap is vegan as far as I can tell. Highly recommend, one of the better mediterranean restaurants in the area.

Meat and chicken shawarma plate!

The most worth it meal in Palo Alto. Make sure to try the tea as well. The food is so homely and feels healthy. Good portions of food.

Came here for a quick dinner on the way back from a long hike and surf day on the coast. I wanted to like the place, but the food was a little disappointing. We ordered two chicken shawarmas. The taste was okay; I don't think I was expecting the strong tahini taste in the sauce. The tortilla like wrap was nice though! The staff were friendly and quick too.

Great vegetarian Mediterranean food if you are in Palo Alto. I was so sad to hear my other fav, Zadna Bowl closed down so we headed here and it was just as good as i remember it from a warm summer evening in 2017 :) Went with our usual order of Falafel deluxe wrap which had veggies, falafel, eggplant and potato chips with the usual sauces. We also got a side of babaganoush and pita which was delicious!!! The place is modest and clean, has a few tables in the patio which is nice for a warm evening. Unbelievably fast service too and it was perfect cause our hike up Stanford Dish worked up a good appetite ;)

This is a cute little shop located close to Stanford with a great owner and mouthwatering options for lunch or dinner. I got the Falafel Plate and the falafels were genuinely some of the best I've ever had. They were crispy and went so well with the hummus, which was also delicious. You can never go wrong with veggies, falafels, and hummus! The owner is so generous and so funny! He gave us the best tea of our life and an extra falafel with our meals. He definitely knows the true meaning of service and connecting with your customers - will be back to try more of their options!

The food here is sooo good and always hits the spot! It's so fresh and tasty. We've had the falafel wraps, the falafel salads, the schwarma wraps, french fries (homemade style), the lentil soup and the tea. It is all big portions and consistently delicious. The staff is also super friendly! Try the roasted eggplant too!

Kufta Kabab Wrap Plate

Takeout Order: 8.5/10 Chicken Shawarma Plate $16 9/10 Kufta Kabob Plate $16 Both plates came with a salad, hummus, and pita bread. Salad was below mid (no dressing but fresh ingredients). Hummus was yummy, smooth, and filling. Pita was soft and great for wrapping. 1 pita might not be enough (rec 2 or splitting 3 pitas between 2 ppl). Chicken was a bit dry but amazing seasoning! Kufta was juicy and also had a lot of flavor. Both had amazing portions for meat so value lines up with price. Kuft also had grilled onions which were so good!

You can't make reservations in the evening, but we were able to get a seat after waiting for 20 or so minutes on a Friday evening. We had a dog with us, and they were able to find us a table in the patio out back. They have patio seating in the front, seating in the restaurant proper, and then more seating in the back patio. The ambiance inside looked really nice, but they didn't want our dog (we don't claim ESA) in the main restaurant. The patio out back was also nice, with a water fountain. Our dog was able to sit under the table and take a nap. The restaurant is BUSY, so the crowd volume was loud, but we could still have a conversation. Behind me was another table and I could hear pretty much their whole conversation. The food was all very good. We did family-style, where we shared all the dishes amongst us. I think the roast chicken might be harder to share, because you have to carve it.

Everything about this restaurant makes you want to return. First, the hospitality is just extraordinary. Levent is the kind of manager every restaurant wishes they had -- gracious, welcoming, and genuinely thoughtful. He has a way of making every guest feel valued and comfortable, like you are being welcomed into someone's home rather than just seated at a table. And Melissa is an absolute delight. She is attentive, kind, and so pleasant that she somehow makes a great meal feel even better. The food is spectacular. The flavors are vibrant, fresh, and deeply satisfying without feeling heavy. We especially love the kebabs, salads, sauces, and dips -- everything is beautifully prepared and full of flavor. And just when you think the meal cannot get any better, the coffee, tea, and desserts arrive and remind you that yes, you definitely needed those too. No regrets, only happiness. What keeps us loyal is that Anatolian Kitchen gets every part of the experience right: delicious food, warm service, and a truly welcoming atmosphere. Some places are worth trying once. I understand people may be ok with that, but not for me. They said they can cook it but will be 35 to 40 minutes and we said that is perfectly fine and understood. But 20 minutes in, the Chef came in gracefully to share that he can't cook it, and he will bring it now, and if we slice it and don't like it, he can then cook the slices. Me and my son thought that we should be able to eat it, even if it was a bit on the rare side, and we did. It wasn't the perfect situation for us, which is the 3 stars, but it wasn't bad. Moral of the story, if you like your tomahawk cooked in one piece, this is not the place for you. As someone who likes Turkish food, this felt like a strong contender. Food: We started with the lahmacun which is made up of a thin Turkish flatbread topped with ground beef, tomato, onion, pepper, and garlic. It was beautifully thin and crispy, with just the right amount of topping. Honestly, add a small salad and you've got the kind of lunch that makes you feel satisfied. This lahmacun is one of the better versions I've had which made it extra tragic to learn it's a lunch-only situation. Why gatekeep happiness to daytime hours? For my entree, I ordered the Alinazik which was grilled tenderloin skewers over eggplant labneh. The beef was tender and the labneh was creamy, savory and a tad smoky. I saw that they offer a $44.95 prix fixe menu, which sounds great in theory, except for the small catch that everyone at the table has to commit. A bit of a "we ride together, we prix fixe together" situation which may not work depending on your dining companion(s) dietary restrictions. Atmosphere: The space is bright, airy, and stylish. The high ceilings resulted in lots of natural light, and a large bar that quietly suggests, "you could have a cocktail or two." One slightly odd note: The bathroom lighting is very dim. Like... "is this ambiance or did someone forget a switch?" kind of dim. Not a dealbreaker, just a curious contrast to the otherwise well-lit space. Overall: A solid pick for Turkish food in Palo Alto located off Emerson and a successful group lunch choice (I will be taking full credit). I'd happily come back to explore more of the menu. I'm already eyeing the Pirzola (bone-in lamb chops) or the Filet of Levrek (branzino) and maybe lobby for all-day lahmacun.
