I hate to leave a review like this because I enjoyed coming here all throughout college, but the owner was so rude to my mom! My mom is a soft spoken woman but she won't be taken advantage of, so she rightfully chirped up when the owner was scooping menial 1/2 scoops of fish into her bowl. I don't think he liked her correction very much, as he got very snarky with her the remainder of the interaction and voiced frustration when she asked for additional fried onions (supposedly free btw).. My mom was perturbed with this, didn't leave a tip (this is a take out counter by the way so I think we can all agree that while it's polite/encouraged for great service, she wasn't deranged for not leaving anything), and then he proceeded to audibly throw a fit. Weird! I'm reading other reviews here, stating that portion sizes and quality have diminished. Sucks to hear, I love this spot. As for food and ambience Yelper Danny N. nailed it. Everything he said was spot on. What was different though was the portion size. Maybe because it was close to closing they decided to load up our bowls? We had a good amount of food, but didn't matter because it wasn't good. I ended up throwing half of it away. Very bland. Everything that was "spicy" was barely that, and I have low tolerance for spicy foods. It did not at any flavor whatsoever. My cousin was craving poke and the place I wanted to take her was closed for some reason so we turned to Yelp and this place popped up. I'm honestly confused at the 4.6 rating. Did we just order the wrong thing? I can only speak for their poke bowls, so if you're craving that, please go elsewhere. read more

Great place to go they cut the fish right there and the sauces were good too. They didn't have kobo or yellow tail anymore when I went but it was still great. The food is delicious and the people working here are nice and helpful. The only drawback was the portion size which is better at other Poké places. Still the prices were decent and the dining atmosphere is great for those who want a sit down experience. I got mine to go this time. I didn't try the sushi this time but they have a sizable vatiety. Poki Roll has been around for a while, but it was only through yelp that I was able to find it. This spot is a small, family-owned business. The best value is their "special combo", which is a small poke bowl with a "base roll" for $15.50. I upgraded to a medium bowl and my "roll" was a crunch roll. With their poke bowls, their small bowl is two scoops of protein, their medium bowl is three scoops of protein, and their large bowl is 5 scoops of protein. I have to say that I enjoyed my roll and my bowl, but my issue is that the scoops of protein are on the smaller side. The scoop is about the size of a knob of butter on a stack of pancakes. I was waffling between three stars and four. Even though I felt that what I ordered was delicious, I ultimately felt that the value and food experience was simply OK, which is three stars in the yelp scale. I do think that it's a good spot for poke and everything tastes good. If you're hungry, definitely go with a large bowl and don't overlook that "special combo" as it helps you maximize value. read more

My family and I used to love this poke restaurant. When it first opened, it was our go to place!! It was fresh, clean, cool, and always inviting. The fish was amazing, the place felt vibrant, and every visit was a great experience. They used to have freshwater with lemons on tap and a complementary miso soup, and had that, well kept feel that made you feel confident about eating raw fish. One of the best parts has always been the owner!! He is such a kind and welcoming person who always greets us and makes time to chat. That personal touch really made it feel special. We also loved his nephew who would be in often too in the beginning! Unfortunately, after our most recent visit, I left feeling disappointed and honestly a little sad. The space just doesn't feel clean anymore. The moment we walked in, it felt humid and stuffy, almost like something wasn't being properly ventilated or maintained. That fresh, crisp air that used to hit you when you walked through the door is gone, and instead there's this uncomfortable, "off" feeling that doesn't pair well with eating raw fish. It pains me to say it, but I don't see myself going back unless some serious changes are made. The quality and atmosphere that once made this place stand out seem to be slipping fast. Sad sad day. We wanted to like this place due to the good reviews and close proximity to our house. The poke bowls didn't taste fresh, the ambience is dark and sad, and the service was not up to par. Food 1/5 We ordered 2 Medium poke bowls. The white and brown rice was mushy. The poke scoops were small. While most places will mix the poke in the sauce before putting it on top of the rice, this place just squirts the sauce on top. This makes for an imbalance bowl and even more soggy bottom. Fish didn't taste fresh especially the yellowtail. Ambience 1/5 The place was empty during lunch on a weekday. There is very low lighting and lack of natural light. The place is clean but just looks old. The bathroom was even worse with a strange odor. The place needs an update. One thing to note is they are playing Christian music in the background. Not sure how i feel about eating poke while wondering if Jesus is judging me for not finishing my food. Just an FYI for those who might be turned off by that. The service was prompt and I loved how clean and artsy the space was inside. In the City of Cypress, this may seem like a hole in the wall spot from the outside but is truly a hidden gem! The owners both stared us down and also rushed us to order, despite there being nobody else there but us. We got build your own poke bowls with half chips and half rice. Portions were very small and the fish is cut even smaller, each piece being small enough to fit on my fingertip. Fish tasted fine but one thing to note was that they didn't mix my fish separately in a bowl (which to me is standard at most poke places.) Fish was just put on top of the rice in my bowl and he proceeded to just put the sauces directly in the bowl. The rice was super soggy due to the fact that everything was just tossed into one bowl and they called it a day. This place was right around the corner from us, so we'd been meaning to try it and I'm glad we took the time to stop by. We decided to go with the pokey bowl. The fish was very fresh. Very tasty. All the sides were good. The only thing is the server was very rude. There was no one other than us there, and we had to yell at her so that she could hear us and understand us and she was yelling at us when we asked for extra sauce she said already gave extra and I said I want extra both please and thank you. The ambience was quite and tranquil. No one was there but us overall the portions were very small than what we used to at a poke bowl, but the price was also smaller than what we're used to for Poké bowl as well. I just had a bad service experience here. I walked in, and was greeted at least. I don't get poke often, it had been a while. Seemed like the man was expecting me to know how things work here. He was preoccupied cutting up avocados while he was taking my order, not filling my bowl as we talked thru what I wanted. When we were thru with picking the ingredients, he stopped cutting his avocados and started putting my bowl together. I asked for brown rice and salad base, he put white rice with no salad in there. I called him out about the salad, but I didn't say anything about the white rice. He put a bunch of salad on top, but then the whole bowl was off balance. He was impatient with me, he was fidgeting and it made me feel weird. I did not feel appreciated with the support I gave this business, and these days that is absolutely huge to me. At $18 for a large bowl, I deserved better attention and appreciation. And I still left a tip. I'm not coming back. I don't care what the quality of food is like, if you don't appreciate your customers then I will not support it. Not sure how this place has such high ratings. I've been to a LOT of poke places this past year. The portion sizes here are smaller than what I've received at other poke places. I looked at the scoop and thought, "that's all?!" The options for toppings and sauces do not have as much variety as other places. However, selection of protein and base options is decent (they had a salad and chip base that other places sometimes don't have). I counted the number of toppings they put in my bowl: 7 corn kernels, 8 edamame, 2 cucumber slices. The sauces were a thinned out. Overall, I was still hungry after eating a bowl and would not recommend unless you're new to poke bowls and aren't super picky. read more

Not sure if I came at an off time (~1:30pm on a Wednesday) since the place was completely empty, but the ingredients didn't taste fresh and the fish was even a little fishy. The tiny portions also surprised me, with small sprinkles of sides/veggies and tiny scoops of fish. I don't eat huge portions at all, but even for me it was tiny and for $11.48 it was not worth it at all. We got 3 medium bowls and it was clear the employee was distracted--multiple customers arrived after us and he was also juggling making an online order at the same time. No fault of his own, just lack of staff led to rushing. My bowl was made the same time as the online order and it seemed he was giving nearly double the food to the online order than to me.
