This is the second bad experience I have had here and I should have not returned after the first. I was out for my birthday with my four best girlfriends. We made a reservation for 6:30pm. We were taken to our seat in the hibachi room and the table we were shown to had a family with two small children. We were supposed to sit with them on the same side of the table. There were many open tables and numerous open seats. We asked if we could sit in the other side, where we could have adult conversations and not worry about having to watch what we said. We asked the hostess, who asked the manager if we could sit at the empty section of the table across from the family. The manager said flat out "no". He then proceeded to tell us that if we wanted to wait 40 minutes until some of the tables filled up that he might be able to seat us then. We told him never mind that we'd just go. He shrugged his shoulders and basically said fine go. I will never set foot on this restaurant again. They were empty and only had to accommodate us or at the very least be courtesy. There are a million great restaurants in the area - DONT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING HERE!! read more

Only tried the hibachi. The food is very very salty, they put the teriyaki sauce on everything. The portions are kind of small for the price. The waitresses are not attentive, never checked on us. Only came by to take drink order, food order and the bill. read more

Based on reviews I was excited to try out Sake. Unfortunately we did not have a great experience. It started off great as the waiting area was very crowded but with reservations we got right in. My husband's hibachi salmon was served raw/undercooked. I brought it to attention of chef and my husband intervened and said it was fine. The chef sloppily put shrimp on another member of our party and one landed on his lap. Although he apologized, he didn't offer another one. Then my husband bit into a chicken bone, chipping his tooth. The chef then decided to cook another salmon piece and shrimp. He forgot about my husband's shellfish allergy and had them touching so although he quickly separated them after my reminder, my husband didn't trust contamination and therefore didn't eat. The straw that broke the camel's back was after only sitting for 70 minutes, the manager came over and asked us if we could finish our drinks at the bar as other people had been waiting 90 minutes. The small bar had no seats and there was only about 6 people waiting. So, not only should the manager apologized but rushing us put was truly unprofessional and rude with so few people waiting. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, but had to wait awhile for drinks (bartender issue) and food was decent, but I will certainly be going back to Saga at Patriot Place where I have not been disappointed. read more

My family went to dinner last night (6 ) and a few things were disturbing. We have been before and really liked the restaurant. Last night we did the hibachi and My steak was suppose to be med rare.. It was raw so I told the chef and thinking he could put it on the grill but away from the other peoples, there was another family at our table. He put it right back in with everyone else's.steak. Then My daughter in law and I got another tea.. The waitress took our cups and returned them.. earlier my daughter in law peeled some tape off the cup and as we were drinking I noticed sticky and it was the cup my daughter in had.. Save your money and go elsewhere. This place is an ass backwards shitshow. My girlfriend and I were rushed from the second we sat down. Our waitress was rude and didn't even give us a second to look over the menu, as she stood in front of us impatiently waiting for our order. Their mix drinks are complete garbage, not even worthy of the 40 minutes you have to wait for one. The food? Its okay. Nothing you cant get at other local places. So disappointed ! Have been here numerous times. It looks like different ownership now. They bring everything at once, we had not finished with the sushi and the main meal was brought out. The soup was very cool. I ordered sea bass which was a total disaster. The fish portion was no more than 3-4 ounces on top of a hodge podge of veggies.Way overpriced @ $22.00. I just discovered a gem in Mansfield. Sake is a hibachi restaurant with fantastic food and great service. I ordered the crispy duck for an appetizer and it was so flavorful and tender. For my main meal I got a sushi combo which came with soup AND salad. Most places make you choose one. Honestly, it was the best ginger dressing I have ever had. The sushi was super fresh and the portion was excellent. We sat at the bar because it was so crowded but it worked out perfectly! There is a beautiful tall young lady who works there named Lily. She absolutely made the evening for us. I think she may be the manager as she was running around effortlessly making sure every patron was happy and taken care of. Her personality had everyone's attention at the bar and she had us all laughing the entire night. I think we ended up being there for 3 hours and we will definitely come back soon. read more

I will never return. It start bad and just got worse...We went for my daughter's graduation and unfortunately I forgot her cake at home. The manager refused to seat our party of 10 unless we were all present...meaning my husband couldn't drive 10 minutes to our house to get the cake. We then waited 45 minutes for them to take our order...meaning wr could have gone back to our house to get the cake (twice).They made a martini that was a glass of vermouth (we returned it and ordered a mixed drink by obviously the bartender doesn't know how to make a basic vodka martini). I went to the ladies room during dinner and they gave my steak from the grill to my husband along with his own steak. Meaning, I had no meat with my dinner. When asked where it was the chef was nice and apologized and eventually got me my dinner, but I then had my 9 guests watching me eat a pile of steak as it took so long they were all finished with their own meals and I ate my noodles and rice because it look an hour and 15 minutes to even get this much food from them. Just awful. This place used to be good and fun, but somewhere it took a turn down the wrong path. With 10 people we spent a good deal of money and had the worst service. Don't go. read more

This is the best Hibachi steakhouses in the New England area. Both my husband and I frequent several steakhouses throughout the state of Rhode Island and Massachusetts and have found that Sake is by far the BEST! I would highly recommend this restaurant to my closest friends and relatives - excellent entertainment and delicious food...Mmmmmm, my mouth is watering just writing about it! read more

We've been for sushi numerous times and loved it - service and food. On Saturday night we went with two other couples to celebrate a couple of birthdays by hitting up the hibachi part of the restaurant for the second time. With reservations at 6:30, I walked in at 6:29 and was promptly asked where the rest of my party was. WIth everyone there at 6:34, we told the hostess and then waited 10 minutes to be seated, not bad for a busy night. We then waited another 10 minutes for the cook to show up. The show and the food were fantastic but at the end of the evening, we received our bill and promptly put three credit cards down to split the bill. While waiting for the waiter to come back, the manager came over to us and asked us to leave, noting that "You've been here a long time and people are getting angry that they can't be seated." He wanted to hear nothing of the fact that we hadn't in fact paid yet and were waiting for our credit cards. The behavior and tone were outrageous, when I said something they were unapologetic and I will not only not be back but I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone else. Next time we will go to Kyoto or Asia Grill for hibachi. As a PR person, I believe firmly in sharing stories, good and bad, and only wish this was a good one. read more

I would give a 0 if i could. I cannot believe how they operate there. I went on Saturday night for my father's 55th Birthday dinner, brought 9 of us there with a 7 PM reservation. When i got there, the place was very crowded, which was fine. But i made my way to the front where the host was, which i later found out was the actual manager, and told him we had a reservation for 7:00 for 9. He said OK and said the name that the reservation was made under which i confirmed. The group next to me told them they also had a reservation for 7. He gave them all menues, and took them to their table. After a few minutes of him ignoring me, I simply asked if we had to wait for our whole party to arrive to be seated. He could of just said yes. Instead, he told me he thought i was LYING and that he needed to see, and i quote "All 9 faces to make sure you're telling the truth". I was appalled, and said, OK, so... we have a reservation, but you don't believe i have a reservation? He continued YELLING at me, telling me he "doesn't trust ANYBODY!". So i proceeded to yell back at him asking him why he was screaming at me? What a nightmare! I should have walked out, but i have to say, their food is great! So i wanted to enjoy that. However, not only was our waitress slow, they screwed up our orders, took us forever to get our drinks, then the cake i had brought to surprise my dad with, the "manager" came back to our seats and asked if we wanted to have the ice cream they offer or just the cake that i brought in? I was SO upset. I told him that was supposed to be a surprise.. so he turned to my dad and said "Oh well, now you know!" I have never been so disgusted in my life. Nevermind that this was my SECOND bad experience here. I came a few years ago with my boyfriend for hibachi, and we were barely done with our food, and still were having our drinks, and they forced us to move from our seats to the bar area! I never like to write bad reviews but I just can't let this one go. I was so disappointed from start to finish. 1st- my glass was dirty (legit had food stuck around the top) my fiancé had a major crack going all the way around his glass. We had the waiter swap them both out but he only brought back one water. That was funny, we laughed, whatever it happens it was a busy night. 2nd- language barrier. Our waiter had a very difficult time understanding us. 3rd and biggest complaint- I eat sushi everywhere. It's my favorite, from high end restaurants to market basket I eat and love ALL sushi. At Saki, half of the sushi I ate I had to shovel up with a fork because it all fell apart. It was bland, mushy, the pieces were smaller than normal and had minimal meat inside. I was soooo disappointed with the sushi, hands down worst sushi I've had. My mother had hibachi and said it was great. Maybe it was just a bad night? To top it off, our waiter flung soy sauce all over my jacket when he was cleaning up. We voiced our concerns to the manager and he was extremely apologetic, giving us $10 off of our bill (dry cleaning cost) and a $20 gift card. (anyone want it? My review is for service. My husband and I have been there three times recently with friends. On the last two occasions (including this evening) we have had to wait a very long time for the hibachi chef. It seems that they don't have enough chefs for each table. We arrived at exactly 6:30pm (the time of our reservation), and our friends said they were asked repeatedly since they had gotten there a few minutes early when all members of the party would arrive. We then waited 10 minutes to be seated. Our soup and salad came early on, but then we waited quite some time for the chef. The food was delicious, as always, and the chef was very entertaining. They brought the check, we sent our credit cards off with the waiter, and then the manager came and asked us to leave! He said the next party was waiting for the table and was "getting angry." At this point, we hadn't even received our credit cards back in order to sign the bill! I have never in my entire life been asked to leave a restaurant. It was rude, unprofessional, embarrassing, and impossible since the waiter still had our credit cards! Needless to say, despite the great food, it will be a long time before I feel comfortable returning here. They need to schedule their reservations better and/or hire more chefs. read more

Restaurant has definitely gone down hill!! Have "eaten in "several times. in the past year or so the service was slow, the food did not come out at the same time.It was at least 10 minutes before my other guest's entree was served. I have ordered take out and the order was wrong. I was stuck. I had my young granddaughters visiting with us and they like Japanese food so I decided to try Saki again. I was very specific when placing my order so as not to get the wrong Tempura . I had requested the shrimp (with vegetables) .I was assured that the shrimp tempura came with vegetables. when my husband brought the food home, the shrimp tempura was only shrimp ,no vegetables, there was no wasabi with the sushi and the chicken Katsu was over cooked and hard as a rock. Tough for a 7 year old to eat. Called and complained. The manager blamed the girl at the desk who took the order and delivered the order to my husband. I said it was the fault of the kitchen. He still blamed her for not checking the order. He said he was too busy to discuss this . bring your receipt in and i will credit you. He then said " what"s your name? I will cancel it." Wanna know the best way to stay on a diet??? It may or may not be to come here. First, I asked if I could substitute my fried rice for the hibachi to brown rice & was told that I could not. I was not even offered any further options or asked why I was asking this question. 2nd.. After I had reserved myself to the fact that I would get fried rice & could easily skip this portion of the meal since I had ordered the grilled calamari steak, I was then horrified by the following....... As my perfectly healthy calamari steak was grilled to perfection... All of a sudden it was assaulted by about a half lb. of butter (no questions asked to me as of preference & no mention in the menu) & then, not only butter... But some kind of thick sauce that also was not mentioned in the menu. Add this to the fact that our first drink order took about 15 minutes to be served, the lettuce in our salad was brown & one person @ our table (not in our party) was not even served her soup until we said something. Just not a great overall experience. I only actually ate the shrimp appetizer & vegetable portion of my meal so I went away hungry.... My fiance was also very disappointed in the service level. Plus our Hibachi cook seemed less than "into it" ... The table behind us was having a blast with their cook... But ours felt like he was on the last leg of his shift & was over it. read more

I can't believe this place has any positive ratings. My hibachi food and chef were decent, but it was by far the worst service I have ever had. Try being sat down with an angry crowd that has been waiting for a hibachi chef and for a drink from the bar for forever, then being so rushed that you aren't given a minute to see the menu without a person hovering over you and asking you over and over what you want when you say you aren't sure yet and that you just sat down. I ordered a drink for my boyfriend and wasn't trusted that that was what he wanted, so the waitress stood waiting for him to come back and THEN waited for him to make a split decision the second he sat down from the bathroom. Even if he said he needed a minute like I did, she said "k" then stood there expectantly and waited ten seconds more before asking again what it was he needed. I was asked whether I wanted my food to be wrapped up twice within 15 minutes of getting it. Before then, it was impossible to get the waitress's attention to get a second drink. Eating as fast as I could (although the place had hours before closing on a Sunday night), the waitress used the checkbook to tap me in the arm to get my attention and to pay the bill. I will STILL EATING and we had still been there less than a half hour at the time. Little things too like seeing another waiter hit on girls in a desperate way and the host not lifting his head to say bye or thank you when we walked out after paying our bill. Give me a break. Used to buy gift cards for the place for relatives around Xmas because I thought it was good. Now regretful I ever spent a five dollar bill there. Honestly pissed to have to even give one star as the required minimum, as it is not at all deserved. read more

I've been to this place a million times and have always considered the food reasonable and service predictably fine. I met a friend there today and she told me about some of the negative comments on Yelp. I was totally surprised, because my experiences were always positive- until today. Our waitress had poor language skills, to the degree that it was difficult to order with certainty that my order would be correct (it was). After I ordered three rolls, I was informed- for the first time ever- that changing to brown rice would cost an extra $3. When the bill came, I inquired to the manager, who seemed indifferent to my reaction that his charge was disproportionate to the actual change to the "standard" order. If nothing else, an apology for the change would have been welcome; however, I was met with an arrogance that was inappropriate, but especially considering that my face is or should be familiar to Sake. I may give them another chance in the future, but for the meantime, I will eat my sushi elsewhere. read more

So I made reservations at Sake for 16 people for my boyfriends 30th birthday party on a Saturday night at 8 p.m. He loved the food there when we went with just the 2 of us and we had absolutely no problems with the service what-so-ever going with just the 2 of us. Well the 16 of us show up at 7:50 p.m. and are told that they are just cleaning a table for us to be seated, okay perfectly fine so ALL 16 of us go to the bar and order a drink while we waited. At 8:20 I go up and ask whats going on we've been waiting awhile and I'm told that they are just waiting for people to pay and we'll be seated. So I say a 1/2 hour ago we were told that you were just cleaning a table off for us so whats really going on? I made reservations for 8 p.m. for 16 people and now there is 16 of us shoved over in a corner, hungry and waiting to be seated so how much longer is it really going to be? and the hostess responds with well it's Saturday night and we have a lot of reservations and it's really busy. (must be my fault they over booked) So I say why did I make reservations then? Also why do I have 16 people pushed in a corner waiting for a table? (near the bathrooms that mind you smelled like a sewer) She responds with let me go get my manager and comes back WITHOUT him and says it shouldn't be long. So okay, my boyfriend wanted to stay, so he went up asked for the manager, the manager did send out 3 small plates of sushi because of the wait. We were not seated until 9:15 when the place EMPTIED!!! No one else was in the restaurant when we were seated on the Hibatchi side. I thought it was an extremely bad way to handle a big group with reservations and on top of it lying about whats really holding us up, on top of all of the bad service I felt as if all the other customers without reservations were taken care of and our business did not matter to them and for a group that is about to spend $800-$1000 on dinner that is unexceptable! I would not recommend making any large group reservations there, I will never again! read more

Went to dinner in the front dining room on a Thursday night - the place was packed for the hibachi section and it was completely out of control. We were sat at the corner booth and the staff were directing people to wait for the hibachi section by letting them stand all around the outside of our booth. People were literally standing, watching my wife and I talk - and these people were also having conversations over our booth to each other, which says more about the patrons than the staff at this point (that's why we can't have nice things in Mansfield). However, we asked our waitress to move us to another table or for her to ask the crowd of 10-12 people around us to move closer to the hibachi room, and she was unable to do either. So we left, and went to another restaurant in Mansfield that was just as crowded but seemed to have staff that knew how to manage the customer flow. Very disappointing, because the food at Sake's is actually very good - but not good enough to feel like a fish in an aquarium being gawked at by rude strangers. read more
