I really debated on the number of stars for this dinner. I almost did two (2) but the waitress did try so I'll give it a three. To begin with we were the only ones there, so the service was not slow. I can't say I was impressed with the service we received, but it was what it was. The sushi was just OK nothing to write home about and really not sure how fresh. The mango in the avocado mango sushi was actually gooey borderline to ripe. The sushi rolls did not stick together, and I have not experienced that before. The only one that I really thought was good was a chicken tempura . My friend got a hibachi meal which she said was "just OK." She said it was nothing to write home about nothing spectacular and was just edible. The building is older, and that would probably explain the very peculiar odor that permeated the dining room. Moreover, every time the air conditioner kicked on it kept blowing out a very strong odor and heat before it finally cooled down. Makes me wonder if the AC system is on the way out. Because of the smell I did not check out the bathroom for I was worried that if it was as bad as it smelled in the restaurant, I probably would've walked out.

While visiting Jacksonville came across this sushi restaurant. Arrived at 5pm. Upon entering we were immediately greeted and seated. Was a little surprised that we were the only customers. We ordered beer (hubby) and hot green tea (me). Menu had some great rolls in it. We went with Love Boat for 2. This came with soup or salad. Hubby had miso soup and I chose the salad with ginger dressing. Boat arrived quite beautifully presented and all fish fresh and esthetically pleasing. Server was very attentive to anything we needed. Overall a wonderful sushi meal. Our only complaint was that the ginger slices that came with the boat seemed old. Flavor really off. Not a meal killer but we love the ginger slices so it was a little disappointing. If your in town and want some sushi, this place can be added to your list.

The only sushi place I like going too. Been going there for years. Tried other sushi places but nothing compares to Sake Sushi in my opinion. Found this little gem before my daughter was born and now she's five years old about to be 6 years old in 3 months. The young lady working in the front is always nice and the place is cozy. I always get the Dynamite roll. And might try other rolls as well

Went here for lunch with my son, never thought I would find such a fantastic sushi place in this location! Impressed beyond belief!

    Spicy scallop mush

Little sushi place tucked into back of strip mall off Baymeadows. Food was pretty good and service was very good. Sushi places in N FL area usually pretty similar and this place really doesn't stand out in the crowd, but if you're in the area it seems to be a good option for sushi. I ordered salmon (pre-sliced), eel, FFEgg and spicy scallop sushi, along with tuna tataki appetizer. All were good although the scallop was not prepared as I would've preferred. I like them sliced fresh and sauced...these were premade and spooned onto rice. Tasted fine, though. Overall probably a 3 and 1/2 star out of five.

Per a friend's recommendation, I grabbed takeout tonight & it did not disappoint. Sushi & ginger dressing were so fresh. Price was great and my order was ready in 15 minutes. I'll be back soon!

This place was huge compared to the other sushi restaurants. A lot of space and it looks like they can even add more tables if they need too. Came in with a very large party (10+) and they were able to accommodate us easily. They have an ALL YOU CAN EAT menu from appetizers to sushi to the hibachi grill. A very large selection and it's a good deal, if you can a lot of sushi (which I can). The specialty rolls (I think #26 to #33) you can order one roll per person. I ordered the Chicken Tempura and Veggies, Rainbow Roll, and Shrimp Tempura Roll to start with. My fiancé ordered Shrimp Tempura and veggies, Golden Dragon Roll, Banana Roll, Chicken Fried Rice, and Miso Soup. The Chicken Tempura and Veggies (and shrimp) were really good. Three pieces of chicken (and shrimp) , 1 mushroom, 1 broccoli, 1 onion, & 1 sweet potato. Very nicely portioned and well cooked. Very crispy and tasty. Nothing soggy. Goes perfect with the tempura sauce of course. Rainbow roll was very well presented. Different colors represented the different raw fish used. A very good amount. Very delicious. :) Golden dragon roll was really good. I recommend it with the rainbow roll. It's probably the top specialty to choose first as well. Banana roll wasn't too bad. It's basically fried banana in a roll. It actually reminds me when my grandmother used to make the banana rice wrapped in banana leaves and steamed. The memories :) I only tasted a spoon of the fried rice because I was very close to reaching my FULL mark. I thought it was a little bit tasteless but maybe it's because I had so many sushi flavors in my mouth? Maybe. I was waiting for my Shrimp Tempura roll and the waitress forgot to put in my order. At this time, I'm pretty stuffed but I ordered anyways. There were 5 pieces but well filled. Very good. Overall, this place was awesome. Would love to come back with friends and family. This will make your day.

It may seem odd to mention that in a review for a steakhouse, especially when their steak is also absolutely stellar, but it is really that good. The hibachi chef was skilled both as a chef and as a performer and all the food was cooked perfectly. The prices are also very low for the amount of food you receive - $37 buys 10oz of filet mignon (which is already a better price than a lot of steakhouses) but that then also comes with a huge quantity of rice, noodles, and vegetables, as well as a salad and a soup. We ate our fill and then also had like a week's worth of leftovers. It's certainly not somewhere we can afford to come super often, but it's an excellent deal for what you receive. One thing to keep in mind though is it's really cold in there, presumably so that working with the hibachi all day can be tolerable. Since customers don't stand over the hot grill the whole time you should bring a sweater.

Our calamari appetizer was undercooked and even when they took it back to refry it, it was still undercooked. In addition, I was told the soup was beef broth and I don't eat beef so he told me I had to pay extra to upgrade to a non-beef option which seems very unreasonable when it should be included in our meal. A server later told us it was chicken broth so I unnecessarily had to pay extra for the miso soup... The hibachi was good still and overall had a good flavor. We did not like our server, he was quite rude and even after being told by a different server that we would not be charged for the UNDERCOOKED calamari and miso soup, we got charged and when I asked him about it, he came up with excuses. They eventually comped it but he was very rude. I don't know that we will be going back, there's better hibachi in Jax if this is how the service is going to be.

In the future, I may steer away from here for that wait as I imagine it could be 1+ hours if dining on a weekend. What I Ordered: - Mule: decent in flavor, but served in a regular cup. Pretty disappointing as the copper mug is iconic for a mule, and also keeps the beverage cooler; which was much needed when by a grill as the dining room was quite warm in June. - Hibachi Steak & Scallops: the scallops were seared a little too long, but the steak was cooked well. Appreciate offering the extra rice and veggies as I took leftovers back to the hotel. It's always fun to see your food prepared and any theatrics the chefs decide to do. Overall, it was entertaining but I found the temperature inside pretty warm. I wish there was more circulating air. I had asked for a $20 bill to be broken into smaller bills, but the server didn't return after my request for 15+ minutes. Due to the hot temperature, I ended up leaving with the $20 as a tip. Bit frustrating as I hate when you pay the bill, and your server disappeared into thin air. Decent experience, but fairly average for the hibachi style dining I've had across the country.

A Delicious Experience at Modu Ramen!…read more We recently had the pleasure of dining at Modu Ramen on Baymeadows Road, and what a wonderful experience from beginning to end! One of the highlights of our visit was getting to meet Chef Kim, who came out personally to speak with us and walk us through the menu. He took the time to explain the different dishes, flavors, and ingredients, which made the experience feel so much more personal. You can truly feel the passion he has for what he creates. ‍ And a big shoutout to Christian, who took such great care of us throughout our meal. The service was attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. It made us feel right at home. We started with the Vegetable Gyoza and Corn Croquettes -- both were delicious and the perfect way to kick off the meal. For ramen, we had several different bowls so we could experience a little bit of everything: Beef Bulgogi Ramen -- tender beef bulgogi with chicken broth, a soft egg, Naruto, and bok choy. One thing I really appreciated is that if you don't eat pork, you can substitute the broth, making it easier to find something that works for your preferences. Curry Tonkotsu Ramen -- rich, flavorful curry broth with chicken, mushrooms, and corn. So comforting and packed with flavor! Vegetable Curry Ramen -- a delicious option for veggie lovers, with that wonderful curry flavor and plenty of satisfying ingredients. Of course, we couldn't stop at the food! Mango Sake -- fruity, refreshing, and such a fun pairing with the meal. Butterscotch Latte -- sweet, creamy, and absolutely delicious. A perfect little treat alongside dinner. And then came dessert... and this was definitely something special! Mango Bingsu -- light, refreshing, and full of mango flavor. Tiramisu Bingsu -- such a fun twist on traditional tiramisu! Creamy, indulgent, and the perfect way to end the meal. What I loved most about Modu Ramen was that it wasn't just about having a good bowl of ramen. It was the whole experience -- the welcoming atmosphere, Chef Kim taking the time to personally explain the menu, Christian's wonderful service, and all the different flavors coming together to make the meal memorable. If you're looking for a place to enjoy comforting ramen, creative dishes, and genuinely warm hospitality, Modu Ramen is definitely worth adding to your Jacksonville dining list! This was easily one of the best ramen experiences I've had in Jacksonville. The flavors were so authentic that with every bite, I felt like my taste buds were taking a trip back to Japan. I loved that the ramen is customizable. You can choose vegetable, chicken, or pork broth, adjust the spice level, and select from different curry and spice options. This makes it easy to create a bowl exactly the way you like it. We tried the Vegetable Gyoza, Corn Croquettes, Beef Bulgogi Ramen with chicken broth, soft egg, naruto and bok choy, Curry Tonkotsu with chicken, mushrooms and corn, and Vegetable Curry Ramen. Every dish was flavorful, and the portions were generous and hearty. The Beef Bulgogi Ramen was a standout for me, with an amazing combination of Japanese and Korean flavors. The curry ramen had a wonderful depth and authentic spice. The broths are incredibly rich and flavorful, and you can substitute the broth if you don't eat pork. I've had similar styles of ramen in Japan, and Modu Ramen really brought back those flavors. The spice, depth of flavor and overall authenticity were outstanding. My taste buds were honestly in food-flavor nirvana! And I have to mention the Mango Sake--my favorite drink of the evening! We also enjoyed the Butterscotch Latte. For dessert, we finished with Mango Bingsu and Tiramisu Bingsu, both delicious and a refreshing way to end such a flavorful meal. Chef Kim was amazing and personally came out to talk with us about the menu and the dishes. You can tell he takes great pride in what he creates.
