Service was ok. Everyone else's food was good. The tempura was a bit greasier than I am used to. And the steak was was a little colder and much more raw than I'm used to. I ordered the steak hibachi lunch, medium rare. Not lukewarm/cold and completely uncooked. On top of that, they either forgot to put in my food or they forgot to cook it. I got my food about 10 min later than everyone else after being asked what I ordered by 3 different people. I just had them box up my replacement meal. Basically, I sat there for an hour so I could eat appetizers and get a to-go. The ginger dressing was nice and I liked the clear soup. It wasn't greasy like so many other places. When I first walked in I was a little hesitant it was a small place and one other person was in there. We sat and waited 5 min to be asked our drink order despite there was no one in there. Then we got rolling my wife and I order the ayce menu and damn there is alot of options for 22 a person some sushi isint there but for what ur paying you will get more than your moneys worth. Everything we ordered was made right then and there for us no long lags or delays after you order something like some restaurants do (hooters). My husband and I have eaten here twice. We really enjoy the food. The food was great! It was a little pricier than the other sushi place we normally go to, but the sushi was fresh, the service was great, my husband LOVED his hibachi, and the fried ice cream was delicious, though the size of the scoop was very small for what they charged compared to other places. The ambience was nice and clean. This is our new favorite sushi/hibachi place. What really stood out for this visit was that the waitresses remembered us and asked how we were. i loved this place and that's why i always ordered here during my lunch break. Due to Covid, you can only call in for take out orders. I called in for 2 rolls of sushi and a clear soup. When i went to pick it up it was in a white bag. i went to the car and noticed that the clear would container had been opened. so the clear soup was sunk at the bottom of the bag damaging my sushi rolls. this had been right as i stepped out the plaza. I called them again to tell them the issue. Her response was "What did u order?". I tell her my order. My family and I have been going to Sake Sushi for our sushi fix for over 8 years. This is my families favorite sushi spot in Jacksonville. The atmosphere is ALWAYS clean and inviting. The service is ALWAYS quick and friendly. The food is ALWAYS tasty and delicious. We have NEVER had a bad experience in 8 years. If you come across any bad reviews ignore them and give this place a try to see for yourself. Sake Sushi is a little hidden jem only about 10 minutes from the St. John's Town Center. We have had nearly everything on the menu. Our favorite dishes are hibachi steak & scallops, chicken katsu, chicken teriyaki, and shrimp tempura. They are always perfectly cooked and delicious. Most meals come with soup or salad, noodles with vegetables, and fried or white rice. Their clear soup is so soothing and delicious every time. Their vegetables are perfectly cooked and one of my favorite parts of the meal. Their rice is always fresh and amazingly seasoned-perfectly cooked. On to the sushi! We are big fans of sushi and big fans of their sushi. It is always perfectly crafted and very fresh. Our favorite rolls are their Philadelphia, mango avocado, dynamite, and JTB. Met some friends for lunch and was blown away by the lunch specials. 2 rolls for $7.95 or 3 for $9.99. I had the sushi lunch which was only $10 and came with 5 pieces of sushi and a spicy roll of your choice. Everything was fresh and delicious. The restaurant itself is very spacious so you don't feel so cramped like a lot of places. The staff were all so friendly and attentive as well. Good lunch special. However, I have been here three times and the food has been lackluster. I got sushi rolls the first two times and they seemed off, just bot done right. The third time I went I got the steak hibachi woh fried rice and salad with ranch. The steak was great. Salad was drowning in ranch dressing. It was terrible. The fried rice, veggies and steak were drowning in soy sauce. It was all i could really taste despite drowning the meal in shrimp sauce. After about an hour after the meal i started to feel sick, pretty sure it was the ocean of soy sauce on the meal. Third was suppose to be the charm, instead it drowned. The people were very friendly, and like I said, a very clean restaurant. Your food is bad. The ginger dressing taste like chemicals, and the dynamite roll was really really greasy. This is probably my new favorite sushi place because of the flavor and the freshness of it, we called at about 10:20 pm and asked if it was ok to dine in and they said yes but we close at 11 pm. The absolute worst service! Went today with a friend we were sat a dirty table! When we asked for them to clean it we received an attitude. We should have left then; we ordered the lunch (3) sushi rolls extra wasabi and ginger 9n the side, beef Negamaki and water. Sushi was mediocre at best. Beef Negamaki was served after our Sushi and its an appetizer! Then when I bit into it....the beef was bloody! When I got the waitress attention I told her I'd like it removed from my bill because I'm on my lunch break and didn't have time to wait. She went to get bill adjusted and the "manager" came to the table and said "you people never want to pay" I was so offended I didn't have words. But my friend did. She asked what she meant by "you people" and then showed her the bloody meat she wanted us to eat. The "manager" then told us to "pay whatever you went and get out!" I gave my cc to the kinder waitress and paid for the sushi and left. DO NOT EAT HERE PEOPLE OF COLOR (WE ARE PUERTO RICAN) ARE NOT WELCOME. And the food was MEDIOCRE. The bloody food was disgusting. This restaurant itself is actually very nice comparing to most Asians owned restaurant in the area! They just need to remove all their tanned front windows and cheesy hand written posters so people can actually see the inside before they open the door. And the quality isn't hindered just because you're getting all you can eat. AYCE menu offers a variety of things, hibachi, appetizers, sashimi, and many rolls. So good! They have some really good lunch specials! I get the avocado and cucumber roll and the sweet potato roll. Both are awesome and always fresh. A few times I've been there and the staff has been super rude, but a majority of the time they've been great. If you're in the baymeadows area this is a good spot. Anyway, the place is clean, although the decors is lacking and they play this awful soft-jazz muzak, all of which gives it place a sorta cheap feeling. That all said, the good -- better than average I would say -- but not superb. Oh my goodness! I am so thrilled to have finally found a Japanese & Sushi place that serves my most favorite dish, "oyako don." AND it has met all of my expectations of the other usual fare. The soup is ....hmmmm..the most flavoraful I 've tasted in awhile. The hot sake is always on special..by one or small/ large and get one more for free. My sister and I love to relax and sip Sake while venting and laughing. We are both elementary teachers so we have plenty of things to cry and laugh about...lol. We like to experiement with different sushi rolls, but can never quite find the perfect combo of ingredients. Wait! One of the rolls is called...."CREATE YOUR OWN." BINGO! I am hooked now! This place is one of the few places that has a roll on its menu called "create your own." BINGO! My other friend, who loves tea, said the green tea was great. Not bittler as I read from the previous review. We were told that the previous server was new and made a mistake. If you have never tried c""hicken oyako don, it is white rice in a huge bowl cooked with carmelized onions, 2 scrambled eggs, juicy chicken cuts and secret seasonings served in a large bowl. It is moist and not dry at all. My fiance doens't care for chicken, but when I brought home my leftovers he ate the whole thing! Now I have to tell him to "stay away from my "oyako don." ha/ha The prices are fair, atmosphere is good and service is friendly. The food is awesome. This was by far the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. My wife, our daughter, and I came in around 6pm and there was only one couple in there at the time. We both ordered the ayce menu and everything we ordered was terrible. The edamame beans were under cooked and hard. My daughter will usually eat two bowls by herself and barely ate 10 beans. I ordered chicken fried rice and my wife ordered the chicken hibachi and the chicken was dry and chewy. We got our sushi rolls and tried at least two pieces from each roll and not a single roll was good. The service was terrible. They refilled drinks one time and when they noticed we had stopped eating they avoided us for at least 15 minutes before I said something. The lady walked over and said what's wrong and I told her nicely that nothing we had was good and she argued with me. She said no no no this is all very popular. Everyone likes it. I said it didn't matter if everyone liked it we didn't like any of it. I said it is what it is. I would just like the check so we can leave. She brought the check with an extra charge because we left food on the plate!!! Of course we did because it wasn't good. I was so fed up at this point I gave her my card so we could just leave. When I was signing the receipt she had the nerve to walk by with sushi another table ordered and said see look everyone likes it. They ordered it. I was astonished and asked for the manager I was told I could call tomorrow to talk to him. In Jacksonville, there isn't too many good sushi places. We usually order from Fuji Sushi on baymeadows which is low priced and incredible food. It was our first time at Sake Sushi because we were hungry for sushi and on that part of town. It has a good vibe. TV's playing, waitress comes to you right away. They explain everything. Good happy hour prices. For what we got at Sake Sushi would have been $24 at Fuji Sushi. It was $45 at Sake Sushi. It's a bit expensive for sushi and I think they should lower their prices. A funny note is outside they have a "Grand Opening" banner. You think, "Wow! I want to support a new business!" We found out when getting served they just celebrated their 2 year anniversary.
